As a Greek, that was the worst Greek food I’ve ever had. To put it kindly, the feta tasted liked vomit.

The service was bad, we had to wait a very long time... the portions were small, and when they presented the bill they lied... they charged us for something we didn't order... tourists need to be careful in the future!!!

The atmosphere on the terrace was nice because the weather was good and the tables were nice. The food was terrible! The meat was tough and tasteless, there were just a few fries and salad without dressing, and it was very meager. The staff sat outside smoking and vaping in between courses. A shame, we were really looking forward to it but are very disappointed.

We ate here tonight. A one-time visit for us. The meat was very tough and the portions were on the small side. If I compare it to Plato Amsterdam, you really get value for money there. Unfortunately, this experience was disappointing for us.

The Retsina was nice and cool and the Tzatziki nicely on the quark side, definitely not much yogurt in it. Fine with some cucumber and dill. I had ordered Moussakka expecting fine lamb mince with aubergine slices and a base (unfortunately) of potato slices..... WELL, that was ripped from my dream!!! It took at least half an hour for *it* to arrive: an inedible little mound of crumbly and coarse mince, some tough, half-burnt (microwave?) potato slices, and some aubergine cut with a cheese grater (say 3 or 4) slices. I sent it back! The waiter tried to get me to pay and went inside to call the cook to "I think" convince me of his amazing Greek cooking skills!! I'm not really interested in these kinds of stories and I know Greek cuisine. I left €20 under the wine glass. Wine was something like €6 and the Tzatziki must have been €12, so they certainly didn't miss out. Greetings from a Greece traveler who was fortunate enough to find a great hamburger at Friet van Oost!!

Had dinner there, and the food felt like delicious home cooked meals. The atmosphere is very relaxing, and the service was excellent with both how attentive they were and the great recommendations. I will definitely be back to try more of the items on the menu, since there were so many good options!

We had another delicious meal this week at one of the few authentic Greek restaurants in Amsterdam. The owner and staff were friendly as always, with well-filled wine glasses and a beautiful view over the waters of the Amstel. For starters, we had various dishes to share, and for the main course, deliciously spiced meat. And fresh tzatziki, of course. We will be back soon. Yamas!

Only halal options for chicken; I don't want meat that suffered unnecessarily before slaughter. Very rude man on the line who speaks poor Dutch. After indicating I wasn't interested because it was halal, the man called back in an unfriendly tone. It's also funny that they claim to have halal but have pork on the menu; apparently, that isn't allowed in the same kitchen according to the faith.

Wonderful, authentic Greek food by the Amstel river. The bill was 76 Euros for two of us. We had an appetizer, mains, and desert. All of the was very good.

The service is inattentive; we were not served until 20 minutes later. We received our main course first, and only then our starters. The spanakopita was still wet with grease. After being asked if there were any areas for improvement and we responded, we received a very defensive and uncomprehending reply. Poor value for money.

Very disappointed with everything. The moment we took a seat I asked to replace a dirty glass as the table was set up as new but the glass was dirty. Making orders was awful. We asked for salad without red onion and bell pepper but of course we had onion in it. We had to remind abut everyhting. About every drink and dish. When we checked if dessert is coming they said it’s on its way. 20 minutes later I asked about it and one of the staff asked “oh you want baklava?”. So again, the order wasn’t even placed. Aperol was getting smaller and smaller. Different colors. No consistency. My orange on the cocktail had a hair on it. But we didn’t mention it cause it would take another ten years to be replaced. When we asked again if we can order the staff member said “of course” and walked away 😂 one of the staff members was very attentive and nice. Young gentleman who said about his uncle preparing in the kitchen. I would definitely give more but everything was just awful. Definitely not coming back.

Incredibly hospitable, delicious food, generous portions, and just a top-notch atmosphere. Don't skip the tzatziki and pita, both fresh and very flavorful. I will definitely be back for the incredibly tender lamb souvlaki and bifteki. Truly Greek!!

Here you get what you expect from an authentic Greek restaurant: lovely, passionate people, the tastiest tzatziki and pitas, and large portions. And all that in a prime location on the Amstel!

We were insulted (yes, I understand Greek) because we decided against eating there due to the exorbitant prices. A child's portion cost €13, just to give you an idea.

The food was phenomenal. The service was a little slow because they were short staffed. But we had a marvelous meal in an authentic Greek restaurant.

We had a super delicious meal! The service was excellent and the atmosphere was warm and cozy.

The location is great. But that is about it. It feels like a one-man operation where the cook is just taking the order while casually placing a beer and a much-too-tough grilled lamb on the table. The wrong things are constantly being put on the table or something is forgotten. And then, indeed, the meat. You have to chew on every bite for half an hour. €85 for four drinks, pita bread with tzatziki, and two meat dishes. The sunny terrace along the Amstel makes up for it just a tiny bit.

My mom was one of the best people in the world and when they took away my plate at this restaurant I couldn't help but think of her, because the waiter seemed só friendly and 'his' food tasted just as moderate as hers 😅 I understand that the view is expensive and I didn't mind paying, but I wish the place next to it wasn't full and I had more energy to search further. I have been going to this place for over 20 years. Family run and the Greek food I have had here is better than anything I had in Greece. Amsterdam trip coming up and I am booked there for 2 nights for dinner. Food shouldn't be rushed, have a glass of wine and enjoy

Super nice place with a view of the Amstel River. Lots to see if you sit on the hedged terrace. The wine was excellent, and the mezedes were also perfect. However, the gyros platter was disappointing. The meat strips seemed boiled instead of grilled. A unique experience, but not what we expected from a gyros platter at this restaurant. Too bad, because the abond could have been excellent.

We happened to be walking by, so we didn't read any reviews or anything (I'm not one for that, but I'm writing one anyway). It felt a bit rushed with two staff members on a Friday evening. I was asked if I wanted water with my Retsina, only to be given a refilled 1.5-liter bottle of tap water (for one person) for €4.95. I should have known, but I hadn't seen this in a long time. Stupid, but also not very friendly to ask for so much money for nothing without asking...

The beer was undrinkable and served in fairground glasses. It took almost 1.5 hours from ordering to serving the food, all just so everyone could start eating at the same time. The finished dishes were, of course, already cold when they were served. The portions were reminiscent of children's plates and the prices were completely inflated. The entire group was very disappointed and will not visit this snack bar again or recommend it. Simply awful in every respect.

Unfortunately, it was disappointing: the portion was very small, the food arrived cold, and the prices were simply too high. The taste was okay, but overall, it wasn't up to scratch – I wouldn't recommend it.

Nice outdoor spot. Friendly service. The food was mediocre. The salad had a huge amount of onion. The squid was rubbery and the gyros very greasy.

My daughter and I landed here when the pizza place next door ran out of dough. What a happy accident it was! I thought I knew what Greek food tasted like, but clearly I was mistaken. This was far better than anything I’ve had before. We ordered the spanakopita and it was beyond delicious with its crisp flaky outside covering a rich and fresh filling of cheese and spinach. We also ordered the moussaka. It was rich and flavorful and came with a small salad. We liked it so much we are going back again before our time in Amsterdam comes to an end! We were also offered fresh bread and tzatziki before our meal. The tzatziki was well balanced in flavor, and the texture was perfect. The environment was pleasant and staff was very friendly. If you are in the area and want delicious food made by lovely people, I highly recommend you visit Grieks Restaurant Athene!

Too long a wait. You wonder what they're doing in the kitchen. Too long. We were with a baby and there was no consideration. The parents left with takeaway. Too bad.

Terrible restaurant experience ever!!! The owner tries to rip off your money with double order and then tries to bully. If i was not with my family i would definitely go to police. Never ever go there because the owner is a gansgter but not anything else. It will be more than dissapointment maybe even nightmare whoever goes there!!!

Nos encantó la comida en este restaurante. Y caminamos ya que estaba muy cerca de Pestana Amsterdam Riverside Hotel. El personal era encantador también. Nos sentamos dentro de su ventana abierta, viendo a los transeúntes... muy agradable.

Nice place to enjoy Greek dishes. You sit in the sun, although on a busy road, but the service is fast and very friendly.

Het is inderdaad een chaotisch restaurant. Toen we aankwamen was alleen de kok er , Madonna, die hielp ons heel lief. Sommige gerechten verkeerd, later kwam de eigenaar, heel vriendelijk, en haalde wat van de rekening af. Gerechten waren allemaal heerlijk, ietwat klein, maar vooruit. Het rommelige maakte het wel sfeervol.

Didn’t eat here. But had to feed my 9month old baby and they were the kindest people. Thank you :)

Unfortunately it’s not that good. Food was okay - Nothing special. Greek Salad came with very little oil if nothing. Meat was dry and not so good quality. Service is definitely NOT good. The owner wasn’t a good host as anyone should expect.

I will just say that I ate a pie and after few hours I was hugging toilet. Feta did had a weird taste, like it expired, but I just thought it was the type of cheese. And I know it was from their food as I m breastfeeding and I really choosing what Im gonna eat. Definitely not be eating there again.

Came here for a nice bite to eat. We sat on the terrace and were kindly helped. We ordered wine and food. 3 of the 4 wine glasses arrived with dirty lipstick on the edges and not even a little... I had to ask if we could get new glasses. Well that can happen. Then some of the food came, it was tasty, but we had ordered a portion of sandwiches for 1 person. The waiter had given 2 portions of sandwiches in 1 basket without communicating it to us. Furthermore, we even waited more than 1 hour or more for the rest of the food. While I certainly don't think it had to take that long. When the food arrived, we had to ask for cutlery. Food was tasty, then we asked for some extra sauce and then we thought we might get it for free because of the wait. Not so, we also had to pay a few euros for that, which is understandable. Then I think the waiter expected a tip. It is understandable that we are not going to give that after our experience. Other than that, the food was really good, but we certainly won't repeat it!

What a delicious meal we had at Athene tonight. From the tzatziki to the gyros, keftekakia and bifteki, everything is equally tasty. We ate our fingers. Don't forget the baklava, super fresh and so tasty!! Host Emilio was super hospitable and pleasant. We will definitely come back soon! Evcharisto!!

Just sat on the terrace with my friend. We are served pink chicken fillet (raw). A comment is made about this. Ultimately, it is agreed that it will be removed from the account. In the end it becomes a discussion that not everything is raw and some chicken fillets are well done. It's shameful that you serve your customers raw meat and start such a discussion. This can make you sick. Take your responsibility. Unfortunately we had paid in advance. So you shouldn't do this. In addition, the waiting time was very long. Big 1 star!

we decided to give it a try. the terrace was filled with people but we sat inside because it was getting dark and chilly. we had to wait 10 minutes for the menus, the staff were polite; we got home made bread with tzatziki (that was tasty) and drinks, 15 min later we were able to order food - mixed vegetable platter and mixed grill. The taste of both dishes was alright but I wouldnt repeat - very greasy veg dish and dry mixed grill meat. There was one lady in the kitchen and thats why it was very slow. Ventilation there is not great so we ended up smelling like barbeque. Interesting experience but unfortunately not worth repeating (for us anyway)

We went to eat in this amazing restaurant while we were on our vacation in Amsterdam. If you want to take a taste of the greek food, this is the right place to go. The owner is a very crazy and happy person. Below, you will see the extraordinary cocktails that he made us. Also, the waitress, Elena was incredible helpful and friendly. We recommend it wholeheartedly.

Top atmosphere, very personal atmosphere. The owner sometimes goes completely crazy to the cheerful music. Cozy and much less distant than most foreign tourist traps in the city. Location is also ideal, easily accessible by public transport and located along the Amstel.
