My favourite go to spot to get a coffee, all the workers are lovely - must visit if you’re nearby :)

Stopped for a coffee and pastry. Both were great, and staff was really nice. Not too crowded on a Sunday either

After reading all the nice reviews, I was really hopeful about this place, but unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment. I wouldn’t have taken the time to write a review here if I hadn’t experienced a terrible stomach ache that started right after eating their food and lasted all day. Even in the middle of the night, I still hadn’t recovered. The food itself was quite ordinary. I really don’t understand sometimes—did all those people eat something different, or is the bar just set so low these days? The service was typical Dutch, and the interiors were split into two parts: one looked okay, but the adjacent area felt really neglected.

Really overrated… Coffee was cold, pastries were mediocre at best. And the service was not good at all. We sat in their “extension” in the back which seemed like a storage space due to people’s coats and bags being piled up on the bench.

This used to be my go to place for a wonderful (Greek) brunch. Unfortunately, my latest experience was massively disappointing. We waited 45 minutes for our food, paid extorting High prices for very average food. The portions were tiny for a 20 euro meal (see photo, excuse the first few bites). It’s a real shame because this place used to offer wonderful Greek hospitality and quality of food/value for money. I hope things go back to where they were and this place will be wonderful again.

At 9am only drinks were served. To eat and have breakfast you had to wait until 10am for him to start preparing some cakes. You can't open early without having ANYTHING to eat but serving coffee cappuccinos and tea. It's a shame because it looks promising. Friendly staff.

We visited her place on Christmas day. The quality of the coffee is very good (freddo espresso) and also the bagatsa we tried was delicious! The environment and the service excellent!

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars because of amazing recommendations. But the pictures are misleading. What you order in the menu has nothing to do with what you receive. Prices are crazy high for what you get. The starters are fine, but not for those portions. The rest of the mains are simply made of meat on the dish with NOT EVEN Tzatziki but mayo on the side. All rounded up to 20 euros. My friend ordered pork chops and got pork belly from Ah cooked…. The owner in the end removed it from the bill, due to our compliant. which was the only nice interaction in the whole place. Im hoping the chef was gone and there was a stand in, because i don't know how else to justify it. The service is horrible, none caters to your table AT ALL, you have to get their attention for a long time before they show up again. And very unprofessional, with ordering or remembering the correct order. Also they price starter bar food as main dishes. The only people satisfied by that are probably the Americans and people who have never eaten greek food. Speaking of Americans, (unrelated to the restaurant) there was a table of INSANELY LOUD crowd laughing obnoxiously the entire time making it impossible to even hear my friends on my table. When asked to maybe be a bit quiet we were met with rude passive looks and comments Which is crazy thinking they were acting as if they have never been outside their house before. i hope they read the review as well, —->next time please talk to my face and respect public spaces and act normal. The audacity of causing literal acoustic pollution and having an attitude. Make it make sense.

Really nice Greek coffee spot! Their bougatsa is so delicious! Also had some typical Greek mountain tea and tried a ham and cheese pastry which were both very nice. Staff was very friendly and the place had a relaxed atmosphere to it. I'd definitely recommend going here!

A cozy place on the Amstel. The food was really well priced for Amsterdam and the staff was able to tell me well about what was on offer and about Greece. That way I really felt at the embassy. I enjoyed talking to Andrea. As far as I'm concerned, employee of the year.

The food is nice but way overpriced.

The food was fine if you want a quick bite. Or just want a coffee. The girl serving did not speak English very well. Furthermore, it takes a long time or they sometimes forget to stock up and/or bring your drink.

You have no clue how to make coffee my friends.

Food is mediocre and very small portions for what you pay. Very unfortunate.

The pies for lunch tasted good and were quite generous for the price. The service was horrible. The waitress took forever to take our order, and when the food was ready, she did not even bother to bring it to us. After 15 minutes of sitting 1 meter from our cooked pies at the kitchen window (we assumed it was for our group as we ordered the number of waiting dishes), we went to the kitchen and took the food to our tables ourselves. Then, we fetched our cutlery from their cabinets as no one bothered to service us.

Let me start with the positives. The food is really delicious. Fresh and well prepared. Service very friendly. Unfortunately also some negative points. So far I have only eaten in the 'back room' and this is not a very pleasant experience. The music is loud (heavy bass) and the acoustics are terrible. A few tables with fairly loud guests and you almost walk away screaming. Service is friendly but not alert. It takes a long time before someone comes to take the order. If you can finally order and you hope to get a cup of coffee at the end, then unfortunately you are out of luck if this is around 9:30/9:45 PM. Although the business is open until 11 p.m., the coffee machine is already clean. This while there were still customers in the business. There may be a reason, but it was a bit of a downer. If you want good food in a cafe-like atmosphere, then you're in the right place. If you expect the atmosphere of a restaurant, this is not the right place.

Worst place ever! We waited more than 1 hour for some pita. Service not existing!!!

Disappointing Experience – Small Portions, Canned Olives, and Stale Dolmas I recently dined at The Greek Embassy with high expectations, but sadly, the experience fell flat. The portions were surprisingly small, leaving us unsatisfied, and the quality of ingredients didn’t justify the prices. One major letdown was the olives, which tasted like they were straight out of an industrial-sized bucket with none of the fresh, briny flavor you’d expect from a good Mediterranean restaurant. To make matters worse, the dolmas (stuffed grape leaves) tasted far from fresh. They had that distinctly stale flavor, as if they’d been sitting for days. Overall, the Greek Embassy left a lot to be desired in terms of quality and portion size. With so many great options out there, I’d recommend looking elsewhere for a truly authentic meal.

Wow! Great food, great staff, excellent Greek experience. Had small payment issue with my card and the owner was very helpful and solved it. I definitely recommend this place for some authentic Greek food. I had a great experience. Thank you so much 👍.

Food is delicious and of good quality. Authentic flavors and Greek as it should be; not adapted to Dutch food. Service could be better. Service is not always very friendly and they do not pay attention to the guests when they want to order something or pay.

Unfortunately the quality and taste of the food was not good. The grilled taste is far too intense or massively bitter. Price and performance overall are not appropriate for me. A bit chilly in the back room, which made it a little uncomfortable.

Nice location just in front of river. Foods are tasty but portion is quite small. And some dishes are not available even though it’s in the menu

They don't serve lunch before 4 O'clock and I think that's late for lunch and early for dinner.

Es un lugar de parrilla y **todo** fue severamente quemado. No pudimos comer la mitad de lo que pedimos, sin embargo, no se tomó ninguna medida. Xorta estaba fría. Las chuletas de cerdo son panceta, no chuletas. La puerta tenía que mantenerse entreabierta debido al humo quemado, independientemente de la temperatura de congelación. Pero lo que realmente me llevó a escribir la crítica, fue que el gerente fue desdeñoso y grosero con todo. Lástima, porque el lugar es lindo y el resto del personal era lo suficientemente agradable.

Our table top was wobbly and it wasn't really pleasant to eat or keep drinks as it was shakey. The food was tasty but nothing special, a bit mediocre and the prices was quite high for it's quality. The restaurant had a nice selection of food on grill but because of the open kitchen conept the whole restaurant is in smoke and the smell sticks to your clothes after you leave. I'm not sure if I will be coming back :/

The best Greek food I had in town! Everything was super tasty, great portions, real comfort food. Orange cake for dessert wasn't super sweet, very balanced. It does get noisy in the evening, but not much one can do about it.

Another annoying yuppie expat bar at the Weesperzijde. When you don't fit their profile, they will tell you they are 'full'.

Only the brunch menu is available for lunch. Food is ok, nothing to die for. Staff was nice.

Don't expect a traditional Greek restaurant. For example, they don't have Gyros. The food and service are not bad but not special either.

Went and ate here for the first time on a recommendation😉..several entrepreneurs have been at this location in the past, but this Greek Embassy is an asset and also seems to be a success😉..because our food was surprisingly delicious!👌.. the moussaka, fried courgettes and tzatziki, all tasty...and although (nowadays) you couldn't order Souvlaki or fried Anchovies, the Octopus tentacle was extremely tender and tasty too!👌...and for those who like salted, the Pita breads are great really addictively delicious😊..the wine selection is Greek and probably also good for the connoisseur, but unfortunately we were not that enthusiastic about the White and the Rosé🤷..although excellently chilled!👌..it was quite busy at the time, but the food was served quickly!👌..all in all, we were satisfied and looking forward to our next visit!😉🙏👋

Another one of our favorite Greek spots in Weesperzijde. Right on the Amstel and offering an amazing Greek wine selection as well as a lot of amazing small plates. We've been there a few times now and it's always fantastic. Servers are always friendly and helpful.

Came before reservation time. Waited several minutes because table wasn’t ready. Finally table is ready and they tell us they are out of food. I’m glad your business is doing well but that’s a bad way to treat customers who reserved a space ahead of time.

Coffee and food was good. You should really work on service though, firstly because as a greek person I didn’t feel very welcome from the staff and secondly you should think twice before you call your non english costumers “stupid” in front of us who understand greek. That ruined my day and realized why i don’t chose to visit greek restaurants here in the netherlands. I wanted to come to your restaurant for a lot time and to be honest I regret it.

Sin embargo, al llegar, el camarero nos sentó torpemente entre dos mesas, incluso pidiendo a otra mesa que se moviera, lo que se sintió grosero. Cuando estábamos sentados, casi estábamos sentados en los asientos de los demás. Cuando llegaron nuestras bebidas, el camarero inexplicablemente llevó la mía de vuelta adentro, dejándome a mí mismo recuperarla mientras todos esperaban para aplaudir. Las cosas empeoraron cuando el camarero sirvió solo tres de nuestras comidas, entregando erróneamente la mía a otra mesa. Mi plato llegó cinco minutos más tarde, con el mismo camarero actuando sorprendido y sin disculparse por el hecho de que me tenía esperando por segunda vez... Aunque la comida sabía bien, las porciones eran vergonzosamente pequeñas. Cobrar 20 euros por un pequeño trozo de pescado sin laterales no es razonable. Tuvimos que pedir una ensalada griega solo para sentirnos algo satisfechos. Finalmente, cuando queríamos otra copa, nadie nos atendió, así que decidimos irnos. Tuve que encontrar un camarero para pagar, que lo manejó sin cortesía. No nos ofreció un recibo, nos deseó una buena noche, o incluso sonreír. En general, la experiencia fue terrible. Cuando pregunté por el gerente, me dijeron que no estaba disponible, y mis quejas no fueron atendidas. Aparte de eso, nadie tenía interés por la experiencia de los huéspedes y obtuve una respuesta mínima. Especialmente porque esta ocasión fue una reunión familiar muy especial, estoy muy decepcionado de esta experiencia y la forma en que tratan a los huéspedes. Cuando visitas un restaurante, esperas al menos tener pasión por la hospitalidad y la buena comida, ambos no fueron suficientes. Esto hace que yo No lo recomiendo y nunca voy a volver...

Great coffee and pretty good food But service/attention was a bit lacking.

Worst service in a long time. It all started with the four of you sitting at a mini square table, with almost nothing on it and almost sitting on the neighbour's lap, it was so cramped. But unfortunately that happens more often in Amsterdam, so we gave it a chance. The server came to us and was extremely grumpy. There were four of us and we ordered 4 drinks. We got 3 drinks and with the 4th drink he walked away without saying anything. When we asked he didn't believe it at first and we ended up getting the 4th drink. Then we only got cutlery for 3 people, even though there were really 4 of us. Then we got the food, but again 3 people and they gave the 4th plate to a table next to it (I think 3 was his lucky number). When we said something about it, the order was almost delivered to the neighbors again. You also don't get much for the price of the food, you really have to order more. The food itself was fine, but on the stingy side. I don't know why this tent gets such a high review. We said something about it when paying, but they were not interested at all. All in all, eat a few tents away and you'll get better service and more value for your money. We will never come back here again.

Good food and lovely spot located centrally in Amsterdam. Took a while to get table and server said it was fully booked. Finally we came back an hour later and restaurant was still empty. Ate for an hour and tables still empty. Servers picked plate up without us having finished. Will not visit again

We walked in without reservation. We were ditected to a table with the message we had to leave within 2 hours. No problem. Subsequently, nobody showed up at the table. Staff wss busy with their drinks and phones. We left.

I visited this restaurant at the beginning of the summer, expecting a great experience based on the reviews. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. The food was subpar, and the service was terrible. When I asked the waiter about my cold food, he was unfriendly and unhelpful. This place feels like a trap for those unfamiliar with good Greek cuisine. The quality was poor, and the prices were ridiculously high. You can find much better options at the supermarket.

Absolutely lovely spot to have food and drink. friendly staff & great food.

Some food was great like the salads but the quality of the lamb was not very good at all, chewy and tough.

Quite high expectations given the reviews, but very disappointing. Service was not really hospitable. Menu on QR and immediately the waiter indicated that more than 3 dishes could no longer be ordered, just after seven. Ordered an appetizer and main with a side. Everything came at the same time, although my main course came more than 5 minutes later than the other. Quite expensive for what you get, nothing more than a piece of meat with some sauce. And that for more than twenty euros. Chicken was fried dry but meatballs were good. Wouldn't come back here anytime soon, too bad!

Really a nice corner alongside the river . Especially in the summer . But you can't enjoy much as the barbecue smoke from the kitchen comes all over you if you sit on the east side. The food was relatively good. No enthusiasm. Reheated vegan moussaka in the microwave filled in nutmeg ? Why? Now that in Amsterdam Greek cuisine is on the rise ..we expect a better effort. We will come again.

OMG, hands down the BEST Greek in Amsterdam. Every single dish we had was flavorful, fresh , good portions and it had great service. Run by Greeks. Not Dutch born Greeks but Greek Greeks. It matters bc not many non Greeks can make this food taste so awesomely authentic. Just the pita bread on its own, was authentic and the best of its kind here. The people working there were very friendly and worked so hard. I have a Greek place I can turn to just for my Greek food. We order many dishes. We took a lot home.

Fuimos a la hora del almuerzo un sábado y solo la página de ‘brunch’ estaba disponible, que es una pequeña parte del menú completo. Pequeña retroalimentación: el menú realmente debe mostrar lo que está disponible a qué horas del día. No pudimos tener lo que vinimos a buscar, tuvimos algunos sándwiches que estaban bien. El servicio fue amable y rápido. Sin duda volveremos para probar la cena, que me dijeron que era en realidad muy bueno.

Make sure you check with the restaurant before you go to see what from the menu is available. We went at lunch time on a Saturday and only the ‘brunch’ page was available which is a small part of the full menu. Small feedback: the menu really should show what is available at which times of the day. We couldn’t have what we came for, had some sandwiches which were OK. Service was friendly and quick. We will definitely come back to try dinner, which I heard was actually very good.

This restaurant can't be serious about offering such average food for such an excessive price! The portions are very small. I've had much better Greek food at other Greek restaurants. This place is very pretentious, the service is purely snobbish, and everything is of low quality. It's a pity that some people normalize wasting money on such garbage.
