KAIA Contemporary Greek in Scheldebuurt

Food is really tasty, but the menu card is designed horribly, starters are mixed with dishes. If it requires 2 separate waiters to come of theit own volition and explain dish sizes, and in the end mess up the order and bring wrong dishes, maybe it's not the best design. On top during payment waiter charged me "by accident" 66 € instead of 55 € which unfortunately I realized only next day.

We had a wonderful evening here The interior of Kaia is very beautiful, lovely seating and atmosphere. The service is also excellent, no fault at all and the gentlemen clean your table between courses. The scientific scientific that is beautifully presented. And the taste is delicious It was a wonderful evening and a special atmosphere Perfect for the promise. It is worth a visit to Kaya

The food was excellent! The Greek cuisine was interpreted in a modern and creative way, which truly impressed us. The entire team was extremely professional, friendly, and attentive – you feel completely taken care of. We’ve been here twice already and are looking forward to coming back on our next visit to Amsterdam. PS: Just one small thing – the meat could have been warmer. If we had called at 8:25 PM to see if we could be there fifteen minutes later, it wouldn't have been a problem, but in the end we waited for our table until 9:20 PM and were not even offered a drink. Then ordered food, it was delicious, but portions were very small, bread for tzatziki was old and they had forgotten a main course, which eventually came more than 20 minutes later... not even an apology from the service or a question if we wanted something to drink, so we we just left. It's a real shame, because it's potentially a nice place with good dishes…

Absolutely fantastic food - and this comes from somebody who grew up with one of the best Greek homecooks in the world....very nice modern vibe; music slightly loud but personnel was quick to adjust it.

We had a very pleasant evening, but for 150 euros per person it was disappointing. We had the 6 course dinner. Taste varied. Fig butter, moussaka, kohlrabi leaves with fish, lamb and dessert were delicious. Lamb was very small portion (lots of bone, little meat). Paloma cocktail came in very large glass and tasted watery. Service was friendly. Water may be refilled more quickly. Music too loud, or poor acoustics. Lighting is very dim.

The rib-eye was excellently prepared and the sea bass is also recommended. And the yogurt dessert with caramel was the perfect ending. 😊 Perfect for a date. It is really worth visiting Kaia!

Beautiful decor and delicious food. The downside was the service, some misunderstandings here and there with the waiters. Eventually recovered. It's also a shame that they have few desserts and none without dairy.

Modern Greek-inspired cuisine with a creative twist. Small menu with attention to details. The cozy, romantic ambiance and warm yellow hue lighting made for an inviting atmosphere. The house-baked sourdough is a perfect match with balsamic and olive oil, while the brioche shines alongside the sweet-salty fig butter. The lamb fricassee was exceptionally tender, flavorful, and juicy. Peculiar desserts. Fair wine selection. Pleasant music and an attentive staff complement the experience.

Extremely rude treatment from the young men in charge, sneaky looks with complete insolence, especially when we were leaving the restaurant. I absolutely do not advise anyone to go there.

The food was excellent, definitely a different Greek in Amsterdam I would recommend if you want something more fancy and special. The staff is friendly and attentive.

Firstly, Ideally you would not want to visit the place as a large group (we were a reservation of 6), as the portions and menu would definitely not be enough to satisfy your hunger and will just leave you wanting more, which can be understandable as the place doesnt seem to be suitable for a complete dining experience for more than two people. We ordered the whole menu and some plates twice. Additionally, honestly the quality of the food was quite subpar compared to how the restaurant tries to market itself. Finally, as a Greek person if you decide to keep your food menu as it is you should remove the word "Greek" from your restaurant name as it is nowhere near greek cuisine qualitywise and as plate selections. Secondly, despite the restaurant being open until 1am we were informed after the fact that the kitchen would be closing from 9:30am and whether we liked it or not that is the policy. Again this would be fine but it would be preferable to know beforehand considering the place presents that its open until 1am and we made a prepaid reservation almost a month before. Finally, the most disappointing highlight of our night was towards the end of the dinner as the owner and the staff became quite hostile by giving us, the customers, mean looks as we were overstaying the night! This made us feel quite unwelcomed and uneasy and I assume that was because we just asked about the kitchen working hours and whether we could be at least be served some desert which we were denied of it anyway. Overall,the quality of the food was average, owner was extremely unprofessional as I have never seen an owner treating customers like they owe him, but at least the waiters were quite friendly and accomodating. Would not recommend and would not visit again. Hope this feedback helps you be better if you supposedly want to run a fine dining "Greek" restaurant.

The atmosphere was perfekt, the staff was very kind and professional. I had the octopus and it tasted like a leap into a sea full of emotions. Feeling all the refreshing energy of the waves as they glide coolly and tingly over your skin on a hot summer day.

We arrived when it was very crowded, but the staff found a place for us. Delicious carpaccio and fish.

Very good restaurant, perfect for returning from the RAI! The food was excellent however the portions very small, compared to the price! The service is very good, however we felt rushed by the waiter who came too regularly to ask us if we wanted water, wine, if we had made our choice, if we needed advice... (all this in 10 minutes). However, the experience was still successful! A good address to remember.

In one word: wow! This is anything but standard Greek cuisine. Kaia adds a modern and creative twist, making for an incredibly tasty experience! The decor and atmosphere are beautiful, with a beautiful open kitchen. The restaurant feels stylish, but above all remains cozy and relaxed, partly thanks to the super friendly staff. If you want a Greek restaurant that serves top quality food, Kaia is the place to go.

Never disappoints, definitely recommended!

Our hesitation was quickly dissolved by a warm welcome & a nice selection of Greek and other wines as well as creative cocktails. The staff was attentive & not snobby at all despite the location being a bit more on the upscale side. The tartar was on point and the creative take on a Greek salad was satisfying. We had one of the vegetarian options as a main course, which was delicious. As for the meat and fish options, they sounded/looked nice & the guest are able to see the grilling/cooking process through the open kitchen concept. The only small inconvenience was that the music was a little too loud inside. All in all am happy to come back next time, I’m in Amsterdam.

It was awfuuul exprerience, today we came to the restaurant, we wanted to try some mediterian sea food. . And from the beginning waitor made us to feel that we are not suitable to this place🙄. (I understand we were more sporty style) but he could say about dresscode . Waitor said that this is conceptual restaurant ... and we tried to understand what does it mean... what he put in this words. But ye, we left quickly. . For me this place it's total mocking of greek mentality and greek cuisine.

Very unprofessional service! When we arrived, we were asked if we were sure we were in the right place, which was confusing and off-putting. One staff member rudely suggested that the food wasn't suitable for us and recommended trying pasta and pizza from a neighboring restaurant instead. We were so taken aback by their behavior that we decided not to order anything. The whole experience was terrible!

Really good food, steak was tasty and so was the feta salad and the starters. Portions too small for the price they have and the only minus was that it took the staff 1hour to bring the food to me but overall tasty food.

Ate at kaia today. Got a great picture via Instagram, but in reality it was quite disappointing. Chicken was extremely dry and waiting time was 55 minutes. We clearly indicated this and the chicken was removed from the bill. Very attentive. Still, we find the restaurant disappointing, but this obviously has to do with our own expectations… based on the way the restaurant profiles itself on Instagram.

We had a delicious meal at the beautifully decorated Kaia. Here you can eat Greek fusion, modern dishes with a local Greek touch. In this way, Kaia gives traditional Greek cuisine a culinary twist. The staff is friendly and can tell you all about the dishes. What a recommendation! Small tip: a Chefs Choice course menu on the menu.

This is my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. A Greek tradition with a contemporary reinterpretation of food and ingredients. The raw materials are fresh, the seabass is simply superb, the baby gem unique. The service is lovely, accurate and precise. The atmosphere is home-like, I do suggest the seats in front of the open cooking space so you can admire the recepies and the food preparation. An excellent choice for your dinner in Amsterdam.

Expected a lot more for this high price. Small portions and nothing special. We were the only eating guests the whole evening. We’ve got served only one glass of wine. The dessert was a highlight.

Nice fine dining place. The atmosphere is very relaxing, the food is quite good, and we were offered a great interesting wine. Definitely start with their incredible bread! From all the food that we had probably pistaccio dessert was the weakest - nice, but nothing interesting or playful. Everything else were great!

It was a good experience to have a modern twist to the greek cuisine! Desserts were too heavy and didn’t match the other offerings when it comes to blend of different flavors!

I was sceptical when I first saw the menu. I didn't see anything that I *thought* I would like. But boy was I wrong. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Very original creation, wonderfully presented and delicious. Take the risk and pick anything. I'm sure you won't be disappointed. They didn't have all the items on the menu but offered good alternatives. No regrets. My only disappointment was that they didn't have greek coffee.

If you have to wait over 1 hour for your food And then it only gets warm and not hot, half the time the staff ignores it and the menu is presented in a way that is more than misleading, you are being ripped off, especially as a foreigner who perhaps only speaks English

Unique food, quality and good staff!

Great food and Atmosphere, but a bit pricy.

Pass dinner and head straight for lunch at this fabulous restaurant. Every plate that arrived at my table presented both creativity and taste in such a way, and the owner himself helped us make choices which were just beyond words. If anything, the tomahawk steak and the roast chicken were the clear winners, but everything else wasn't far behind. And, of course, one should not pass over the roast chicken; simply stunning, with its charcoal cassava a stroke of genius.

Ate here for the second time this year last Tuesday. Once again enjoyed the entire experience. I was very impressed with the chicken charcoal, a great balanced dish, even slightly better than what I expected from a modern Greek. Normally I am not a fan of fine dining, but Kaia Amsterdam has once again positively surprised me!

We eat last weekend with some friends and I need to admit didn’t eat so good for a long time, great service as well!

Great culinary experience. Started off with a delicious beef carpaccio, followed by a less overwhelming three texture lamb. The desert, a free version of baklava, was outstanding. The service is attentive and friendly, and the overall atmosphere is pleasant (perhaps the music was a bit too loud). Price wise, I find it too steep. Despite the quality of the dishes, paying 100 euros felt a bit high. Nevertheless, if one knows in advance, I am quite sure they won't regret it.

This was one of the best meals of my life...I'm Italian...I have high expectations...this was an amazing surprise...new flavors...I'm speechless...I'm so used to be disappointed that I'm almost on tears....I just feel to hug the chef and tell him "well done".We had the rib eye and the lamb....A.W.E.S.O.M.E...absolutely I will come back...give them whatever money they ask you...worth every penny!!!

Delicious food and very friendly service, just not attentive enough, we tried several times during lunch to order extra wine and water and that didn't work, even though it was very quiet. When the waiter brought food to a table, he did not look around at the other tables. If that is improved, then great!

Pleasant service and nice atmosphere. We did the 6 course meal with a group of six people, and ordered a couple of bottles of wine. The appetisers and dessert were nice, however the mains seemed not to match the price (most of us didn't finish them). If you go, go for a nice social dinner, but if you're a super foodie I wouldn't recommend.

If you like the Greek kitchen and are into fine dining, this is the place for you. You won't find a mixed grill on the menu. Instead you'll find a carefully put together menu with interesting twists on well know dishes. The flavors are spectaculair. We wen't for the lamb trio and lamb from the grill as mains. Both were excellent. Paired with very nice Greek wines (both white and red). The staff is very attentive and the restaurant is designed with a lot of eye for detail. Close to RAI, so perfect for a casual or business setting.

The service from one of the waiters wasn't amazing. Already in the first 3 minutes of us being in the restaurant, we had more than 6 interactions with her. It felt very pushy, like she was in a hurry and we had to be fast with sitting, ordering, eating, etc. The chicken from the main meals was mediocre and too raw for my taste. The atmosphere was elegant, but the music was too loud to feel like you were in a fine dining restaurant.

First time was fantastic. 2nd time we made a reservation for a Saturday evening dinner more than 5 days in advance and surprisingly we were denied ordering the Seabass even though we arrived on time and early in the evening because they were keeping it for other guests and they never indicated it should have been pre-ordered with the reservation - which is not even an option on the booking app. Very amateurish.

I when to this restaurant yesterday, I heard from some friends that the experience there is something different, soo I went there to see, what I saw and received, I can’t describe with words, the atmosphere, the food the wine and the people that working there, are amazing! Nice combinations, very tasty dishes, for sure I will come back to this restaurant

Amazing food and very nice overallexperience. Sadly service was lacking compared to food. Receiving food at the same time is something they should focus on a bit more. (Amazing deserts and main courses).

Unfortunately we (a group of 5 friends) had a bad experience at kaia. We paid €200 per person but the overal experience was totally not worth it. For this money you can have a proper fine dining experience in lots of other places in Amsterdam. The manager told us they were understaffed but at a 'fine dining' restaurant this cannot be an excuse. Some points of feedback: - We ordered the degastution menu, most courses were just put on the table without any explanation about the food. - The food arrived before the cutlery (almost every course). Cutlery was even quickly cleaned at the bar. - The (€160 a bottle) red wine arrived after the food. White wine glasses were put on the table and not properly cleaned either. - The fish (a main course) was very overcooked and dry. Because we got no explanation about the dish it could have been confused with chicken. The overal food quality was good but below expectation. Certainly not good enough for the price (€120 a person for the menu) We gave this feedback on the evening itself, at least we got an excuse and a glass of limoncello on the house...

Set 6/6 was successful, incredibly tasty and interestingly prepared Greek standards. My favorite restaurant now in Amsterdam, I highly recommend it.

Very tasty food and very good servers

Excellent food, poor service! We booked online a “restaurant table” and when we got there they put us at the bar. We showed our dissatisfaction but they didn’t even apologized properly for the inconvenience and tried to convince us that this is a regular table too. Anyways we agreed to stay. We would expect some proper attention from the stuff as to order etc but we had to seek for stuff members ourself each time we wanted order our next dish. They hardly asked as throughout the evening if we needed something else. The bar tender though was very apologizing and he tried to make us happy. We appreciate his attention but the problem with that place seems to be that they are chaotic in service generally. Apparently they don’t have a system to accommodate properly their guests. They had some big groups which takes a lot of energy and effort to serve them properly but when you establish a pricy restaurant in areas like RAI you should expect customers in big (often noisy like yesterday) groups thus be well prepared and organized. Anyways. The food was exquisite but the service quite unprofessional.

Lamb cutlets were almost raw, very expensive, none of the usual traditional Greek food. Service was excellent though
