I found the restaurant’s personal response to an ordinary customer review unnecessarily disrespectful and unprofessional.

A very small, unassuming restaurant, but highly recommended; the food was incredibly delicious.

Yesterday was my first time at this restaurant and it was truly amazing! The atmosphere, the decor, the staff, and the cute little details give this place so much warmth and coziness. The menu was amazing too! We actually wanted to order everything; it all looked delicious. And it's nice that there are so many vegetarian options available. The only minor downside is that the door was opened for fresh air, but as a result, smoke came in from smoking guests/staff outside. That is not pleasant while eating. Otherwise, everything was perfect! We will 100% be back here multiple times! Thank you!

We were excited to try this restaurant given the good reviews. I don’t get the high reviews. The food is pretty average and bland. The service, while friendly, is slow. Would not recommend

Delicious pita souvlaki 😋 Just would recommend to improve the website for reservations

Sat at a place next door the night before. Decided we should try this place after clients sitting there said it was ‘good’. We ordered the meat platter that came with lamb chops, gyros chicken, beef skewer, sausage and lamb kofta. It came with chips underneath, a small side salad and tzatziki. We also ordered bread and saganaki The entire dish meat dish lacked flavour with the chicken being dry, the meat chewy and flavourless. Compared to Greek food in Australia, this was nothing. To top it off, we sat out the front to enjoy the atmosphere and owner continued to come out and smoke right next to us. We usually order desert and more wine or a cheese platter but decided not to.Food and atmosphere not enjoyable. We were encouraged to book early and be out by 7 because they were ‘fully booked’ When we left at 7 there was only one other table of guests. Go next door to the cheese and wine place instead!

It is a very cozy, not too large restaurant with a terrace. The (Greek and English-speaking) service is extremely friendly. The mezes we ordered were particularly flavorful. The mixed grill was extensive and of good quality. Salad, fries or potatoes, and tzatziki accompanied the meal. The house red wine was also delicious. We will definitely be back! We are certainly willing to cycle there.

A fantastic restaurant with delicious food. Everything was truly homemade. We had various appetizers and pita bread with lamb/chicken for the main course. The price-performance ratio was excellent, and the food was absolutely delicious. Thank you!

They offer very delicious food. Very pleasant atmosphere.

This place completely blew me away. Started with the feta salad and the grape leaves, both excellent and a great way to kick off the meal, really fresh and full of flavor. The chicken skewers were the highlight though, perfectly cooked and packed with flavor, you can tell they know what they’re doing. Everything felt authentic, proper Greek cooking rather than the usual tourist trap version you sometimes get in the city. Service was solid too and added to the overall experience. Highly recommend if you’re craving something authentic and well made. Absolutely loved it and think it’s underrated!!!

Everything was good; the food, the service and the atmosphere, but you should not charge for tap water.

The starter was promising. Delicious tzatziki and calamari. We felt the feta tasted very much like supermarket feta. For the main course, we had the “mixed grill”; the souvlaki skewer had “mega souvlaki” written on it. This gave us the impression that this was ready-made souvlaki. And nothing could be further from the truth; it was available online from the freezer. Too bad, you don't expect that when you order a dish for €49. We won't be going there again.

we had an amazing lunch here. From the minute we walked in they made us (and our dog) feel very welcome. Apart from the warm service, the food was great. We will definitely be back!

The staff were lovely, very sweet, and super helpful, but unfortunately, the food didn't live up to expectations. Most of the mezes were a disappointmentthey were far too salty and lacking flavor. The kebab wasn't really a kebab; it felt more like a meatball (köfte), and the moussaka was disappointing as well. The only real highlight of the meal was the chicken, which was very juicy and flavorful. Great service, but the food unfortunately fell short.

Portions were large, the food was very tasty! The service was really terrible. They didn't ask if we wanted anything else all evening; every time I had to let them know myself if I wanted to order something. That's why it took so long… Very disappointing!

We wanted to visit this restaurant with my wife and baby. They refused to let us in, claiming they were fully booked due to reservations, even though about 80% of the indoor tables were completely empty. I can understand that a restaurant might be fully booked or that tables might fill up within 15–30 minutes, but the way this was communicated to us was incredibly rude—just dismissive head and hand gestures. I politely mentioned in English that this was quite discourteous and that I couldn't understand this behavior. While I was talking to the staff, a middle-aged man (whose role I don't know) approached me and started shouting and speaking to me in a very aggressive tone. Even though I said, "Thank you, we are leaving,"—mindful that my wife and baby were right next to me—he continued to yell. While another staff member was trying to show me the reservation book to prove they were full, I thanked them again to defuse the situation. However, the other man kept shouting, saying things in a language I didn’t understand, and when I asked, "Why are you yelling at me? I am already leaving," he continued his tantrum and said something along the lines of, "Go eat pizza, don't come here." I have traveled to more than 20 countries and experienced well over 1,000 restaurants, but I have never witnessed such shocking and unacceptable behavior. If that man is an employee or the owner of this restaurant, it is deeply tragic. I truly hope he learns how to behave and communicate properly, especially with someone who is there with their wife and infant. Since we were not allowed to stay, I could not experience the food or the atmosphere, so I am leaving those ratings blank. I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone. Avoid at all costs.

This is probably the best greek food I've had outside of Greece, and better than most I had there. Everything we ordered was amazing (the marinated octopus, the eggplant dip, the artichoke entree, and the lamb tongue). The lamb tongue in particular was so tender and flavorful, on a bed of rice with rosemary and grated cheese. The atmosphere was somehow both cozy and crisply refreshing at the same time. Highly recommend!

Good selection of Greek food, we enjoyed the appetizer including the spicy shrimp in tomato sauce, the Greek salad was ok not great, the chicken skewer was probably the best of everything we had, the mousaka was cold in the inside couldn’t finish it. The gyro meat was not my favorite either.

It was competent but not outstanding in terms of quality. The prices were quite high for what it was. Still, quite nice.

We had expected more from this. Sitting at a table of at most 60 by 60 cm with three people isn't really practical, we thought. The food? Unfortunately, as far as we're concerned, it just wasn't it. A shame.

This place used to be a take away place, but it’s turned into this lovely small restaurant with a cozy atmosphere! I celebrated my 20th birthday and it was wonderful: the staff is kind and the food super tasty!! Big recommendations for couples and small groups

I have tried pita gyros here before and some bites and really loved it so came back for a full dinner, but was disappointed. We got the meat platter, but the kebab seemed very dense and not with any special taste (almost like it was the frozen kind), a good portion of the fries we got were mostly crispy tiny bits you find at the bottom of the pan, not that many whole fries, we somehow got the butt of a whole onion sprinkled in, and the salad was pretty much greens and shredded cabbage without any other vegetable, looked like it was thrown in from the bag, and it had no real seasoning or oil or vinegar or anything.

First and last time I'm visiting this place. I made one single order (in Greek language as well) and they messed up my order all over. How can you confuse pork for lamb? On top of that, there is no single gyros place in the ENTIRE Greek continent which does not put fries in gyros/souvlaki.

It fell short of my expectations; nothing we ate was outstanding. The shrimp saganaki was frozen and undercooked; we had to ask for it to be cooked again. The kolokythokeftedes wasn't bad, but the lacerda was too salty. Only tarama and lamb tongue were tasty. Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend the place

It was my first time coming at this restaurant but is becoming my favourite Greek food i was trying in Amsterdam. I am Romanian, travelled few times in Greece, so I know the authentic taste. This is very tasty. We'll come back, for sure!

The food was hit or miss - my chicken skewer was some of the best chicken I've eaten in amsterdam, but my partners Lamb gyro was very fatty. The tables are very cramped and the restaurant is really loud - we could hardly hear eachother at our small table. The service was quite chaotic too, we were asked for our order by 2 servers after we had already ordered, and were offered (and then again asked for) pita bread to go with our olives, but it never arrived.

Pleasant experience at this Greek place. Food was delicious (starter, main and dessert). Staff was friendly. I liked the decoration of the restaurant and they also have outside tables for days with good weather. Food takes a bit to be served (not much longer than normal). Reservation advised.

Great service, as always! You are always welcomed so warmly! The atmosphere feels like coming home to a good friend who cooks delicious meals for you on top of that! (These are the friends you want to have, of course;)) I hadn't been here for a while, but they have removed the large bar inside. Good news, because that creates more space for tables and therefore a better chance of finding a spot. The food was delicious, as always. And I think their wines are truly fantastic: all Greek, but honestly, I have rarely drunk such tasty wines, even in Greece! Moreover, we sat outside and enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Amsterdam can be proud to have such a wonderful restaurant in the city. What a gem, staff super friendly, clean, intimate atmosphere because it isn't very big so reservations are recommended, the food was sublime, truly top-notch. Next time again.

Nice people, unfortunately very bad food. Extremely greasy, and the calf's tongue was a plate of instant rice with a little calf's tongue and Albert Heijn grated cheese thrown on top. Shameful that they dare to serve this. Not giving it 1 star because of the nice people working there.

We wanted to experience how it is inside a greek mother house, this is the closest experience to it. Home cooked food, house warmth and hospitality and smiles everywhere.

Cozy restaurant and tasty food, although the portions were quite modest for Greek cuisine. The staff is more focused on guest turnover than service quality—right at the entrance, you're informed that you only have a 2-hour time limit for your meal.

Amazing greek food. I could easily say it is the best Greek restaurant in Amsterdam considering how hard it is to find a good one, however the staff should consider some of their actions. Its a shame that such an experience at a very good place gets ruined by unprofessional behaviour. The short light skinned lady spoke to us as if we’re asking for free food!! She gave us the impression of not wanting to help or even talk to us. After we ate my friends went to the toilet and i got asked by the staff if my friends left as if they wanted me to leave even tho it was not past the 2 hours you get informed about after reservation. Staff is unwelcoming. 1 star for service is only for the cute blonde lady with short hair even tho she was not the person helping me that night but i felt more welcomed with her bringing me the check compared to her colleague who was the one in charge of our service that night.

Loved the food! Absolutely delicious! I didn't give full score to service because they charge you 3 euro for one liter of tap water. I don't think it's a nice gesture when in most bars it's free.

We chose Romios for our Easter Sunday dinner as we were far from homeland. Really pleasant atmosphere, nice staff and on top of that there is the delicious food especialy for that day (magiritsa, kokoretsi, lamp etc).

Cozy atmosphere and recently renovated place, really delicious and variegate dishes, nice beers and really fast and kind service!

I really wanted to like it and went there with an open mind, as I knew that food wouldn’t be as authentic as back home. Still, the food was subpar. The kolokithokeftedes were burnt outside and tasted like baked with a chewy consistency. The spanakopita was certainly cooked a long time before and reheated. The saganaki was cold and not melted inside. The chicken kontosouvli was a big chicken skewer, not kontosouvli. The lamb kontosouvli was ok. The staff was helpful and kind, no issues with that. I did spot however a physical fight between an older and a younger staff member which left a bad taste. I would suggest being more careful with these behaviours especially when this is visible to customers. All in all, I appreciate the effort, but we won’t be going again. There are other places with better Greek food in Amsterdam.

Update based on the owner’s comment: I had high expectations because I ordered food that I liked. I ate tarama and lakerda, both of them were very salty. I ate “kolokithokeftedes” for warm meze. I like it very much and this was the worst I have ever eaten :( As a main course I had “Authentic Mousakka”. I’m really sorry that it was bad. Unfortunately it was really bad. The potatoes you used in it were stale. There was too much bechamel sauce. My friend was eating and you tried to pick his plate 3 times, in the end he gave up eating. I found a piece of hair in one of the mezes and let your colleague know. I said it is not a problem in the restaurant because we were trying to leave. The place was too loudy, the music was unnecessarily too loud.

Update: I only decided to write more about my experience because the owner is completely delusional in his passive aggressive handling of all reviews. The reason I’m giving one star is actually because of him. He was absolutely rude to us but also to tables around us. At first he complained to the table next to us because out of the four chairs it had one was empty still as they were waiting for their friend. He told them they should have reserved a three chair table instead as their friend is late… He obviously made everyone feel very uncomfortable. Additionally once we finished our meal he was trying to force us to leave as there were new customers at the door. He probably didn’t think we speak Greek. He asked us in English whether we’re done and we replied we are expecting to order dessert. A moment later he cursed in Greek and asked his staff why are we still there…. Very unprofessional. About the food as the majority of recent reviews by Greek people say, it is very disappointing. Overpriced “taverna” dishes, nothing special. Small portions, and indifferent to bad flavours. The absolute exploitation of Greek cuisine to charge 15-16€ for a pita gyros just because you serve it on a plate and you put the fries on a tiny bowl and call it a dish…. Wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.

What an amazing place! I’ve been looking for something authentic and I can tell I found it. I was pleasantly surprised by the choice of both more popular options and something local. So everyone could find something for their taste. This octopus and shrimps take a place in my heart. I will definitely come back when I visit Amsterdam again. Thank you very much!

I strongly recommend reading the bad reviews as well and especially the owner’s responses, as they clearly reflect the attitude and lack of professionalism. The way feedback is handled says it all. As a Greek, I can confidently say the food was below expectations, particularly the lamb.

I’m Greek and had wanted to visit for a long time, especially given the restaurant’s social media presence. Unfortunately, my Greek friends and I left extremely disappointed. It was one of the worst Greek meals we’ve had, and within a few hours, we were all suffering from food poisoning. It’s genuinely sad to write such a negative review about a Greek restaurant, because the staff were friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant.

Excellent quality, reasonable prices. Music is fantastic and not loud at all (Greek music). Highly recommended.

We had an excellent meal at Romios last week. After the renovations, the atmosphere is as Greek as it gets. Even on Thursday, it was packed. The fish, red snapper, was perfectly grilled and served with a lovely salad. It won't always be in stock, as Nikos only buys fresh, high-quality fish. The tzatziki, lamb, and fresh baklava were delicious. The wine list, with its fine Greek wines, is excellent. Highly recommended.

Delicious starters and main courses. Often even better than in Greece itself. A fine selection of Greek wines. I had eaten there before, when the restaurant was primarily a takeaway. Takeaway is still available, but now, after extensive renovations, it has become a magnificent restaurant. The hospitality of Nikos and his wife is even more evident.

The food was really delicious, and although the portions were on the smaller side, everything was wonderfully prepared. The only minor issue is that the door opens often, which can make the tables nearby a bit chilly.

The atmosphere at Romios is nice and the staff is genuinely friendly, but the food was very disappointing for us. Everything we ordered tasted as if it had been pre-cooked and then warmed up. The lamb chops, in particular, really suffered from this, grilled meat needs to be fresh off the grill to have that proper flavor, and we didn’t get that at all. This approach might work for some dishes, but it definitely doesn’t work for grilled items. The prices are higher than average, which I normally don’t mind paying if the food is worth it, but in this case, it simply wasn’t. Even though the service was friendly, the quality of the food left us unhappy, and we wouldn’t come back based on this experience.

One of our favorites until recently. The kitchen seemed to have a different chef. Lukewarm dishes, undercooked pork skewers, and our favorite divine orange dessert had become an okay cake-like dish, but nothing special anymore.

We were a group of three, but they seated us at a table meant for two. It was cramped, and we had to juggle plates and drinks all night, which made the experience quite uncomfortable. On top of that, we weren’t informed when booking that the table was only available for two hours. Had we known, we would have chosen another place, as this was a girls’ reunion and we had planned to relax, eat, and drink into the evening. The food was okay but not great. Overall, the experience wasn’t great and we won’t be going back.

Always delicious food and fast service. For me it’s the best Greek of the whole half round. It is definitely worth trying.

Food was bland and chewy, waiter was very unpleasant. Pushing that we were allowed to stay for max 1 hour. Overall a very very unpleasant experience and will not come back Edit: we were just called by the owner asking questions why i left a bad comment in a rude way. Don’t understand this behavior, and the owner doesn’t just take ownership for a bad experience. You can see what kind of place this is.

Excellent meal here. Meatballs in tomato sauce were so flavorful. The owner came to talk to us and said it's his grandmother's recipe. 30 different spices. Was amazing. The mixed meme plate was also delicious. Friendly servers and owner. Can definitely recommend. This restaurant made it to our must return list. Rare find.
