Super tasty food, affordable and hospitable! We walked in and it was full of Greeks (kind of a good omen). Shared two starters and two main courses, all four great. It is also nice that attention has been paid to the wine list, which only contains Greek wines. All in all, highly recommended for a date night or dinner with a group of friends! In terms of decoration it is cozy but could be better, but in itself no reason not to go.

Delicious food, they have high quality ingredients. The only pity is that they don't have pork neck gyros. But absolutely everything on the menu is delicious. The hygiene is also very good, fresh.

Awful experience; rude service.

I had the worst dining experience at this restaurant. We made a reservation for a group and ordered food to share along with drinks. However, the waitress was incredibly disrespectful because we didn’t order more food. This was not something we were informed about when we made the reservation. Her attitude completely ruined the atmosphere. We felt so uncomfortable that we didn’t even finish our drinks before leaving. It’s shocking that such unprofessional behavior is tolerated. Definitely not a place I’d recommend, and I won’t be returning.

3 stars because of attitude of our waitress (liked the food though). I have never felt more unwelcome in an establishment. She was very stern in her communication and was almost judgemental towards what we ordered (weird but true)

The people are not particularly friendly, the moussaka was not particularly tasty. The coffee was gross and the plates were wobbly. They also don't speak Dutch.

Ate here yesterday with the two of us. Our experiences with the "Dutch" Greek restaurants are generally solid, but nothing really stands out. Not even the 'best' Greek restaurant in South Holland, which made a good attempt, but was unable to match Romios' level. Finally a Greek restaurant that made us think back to our favorite holiday spot, Zakynthos. A diverse, authentic Greek menu that was complimented by an extensive Greek wine list positively surprised us. The fact that some of the dishes are a bit more expensive may have more to do with the current economy and today's (read absurd) product prices than with the attitude of the kitchen/restaurant. Fortunately, the portion sizes make up for a lot of this! You can see and taste that it is the chefs' sincere mission to let you enjoy authentic Greek cuisine. We were asked several times, by both the service and the cook herself, whether the food tasted good and whether we enjoyed it. It is a pity that this restaurant is so far from our beloved Rotterdam, otherwise we would certainly have eaten here regularly. However, when we are next in Amsterdam and looking for a place to eat, this restaurant will certainly come to mind and it may even be worth deviating a bit from the route/destination. Romios, applause! You made my evening complete with delicious food, a good ambiance and friendly service. Food choices: FOR - Tzatziki (with pita bread) - Feta cheese (large piece!) HEAD - Soutsoukakia with rice - Mixed Platter (pork souvlaki, chicken gyros, kebab, lamb chop, sausage, tzatziki, salad and potatoes from the oven) NA (Taken To-Go) - Baklava (2x) DRINK - Loux lemonade - Retsina (try this!!) - Red wine, glass, can't remember what it was called. Has a long aftertaste (€8 p/glass) Total price +/- €95.

IF Romios had very bad service, I would still give 5 stars because the food is very good. It tastes like you're actually eating your grandma's food in Turkey. But they have both the service and food so good, I wish it was possible to give more than 5 stars. My favorite place in Amsterdam :) It was recommended years ago by someone I don't like, but I am still thankful I met them because or else I might have never gone to Romios.... Also, I had a private birthday here and I was very happy with the flexibility and special care. Highly recommend!!

Authentic food with amazing staff! The food is so delicious, I had to go back a few times on a short trip. Highlights include the tiropita, garides (shrimp) saganaki, and chicken kontosouvli. Make sure to save room for dessert, the Serano chocolate cake was absolutely sinful. Highly recommended! The staff will make you feel right at home.

Had heard about this place being good. But I was so impressed by the incredibly friendly staff. Not just my waiter and the front of house manager, Neveena but the chef himself. Incredibly busy night and he found time to chat and connect. He has been working on perfecting his fish dish for years, which I only found out after ordering unfortunately. I will have to come back. Thanks everybody.

What a fantastic restaurant! We had a cold mezze, spanakopita and gyros. All 3 dishes were delicious. What a great quality! The service was outstanding.. fast, friendly and very helpful. I will definitely go back more often to try out the rest of the menu. Thank you Romios making me happy :)

Zeer teleurgesteld, wilde graag even een pita gyros bestellen ik nam lam en mijn partner kip.De kip was smakelijk, lam leek wel reepjes donner, onherkenbaar en niet heel smakelijk.ik kon geen prijslijst van de wijn vinden en wijn stond ook niet op de kaart. Navraag leerde dat ik gewoon een glas wijn kon bestellen en dus gedaan. Bij afrekenen bleek dat het glaasje wijn maar liefst €8,80 koste. We bestelden ook een bier en dit is nooit gebracht Tip aan de eigenaar: bij dit soort bedragen voor een glas wijn even uw klant informeren en beter nog: maak een prijslijst op de menukaart van uw wijn

Highly recommended!!! Not a luxury restaurant but a taverna with delicious authentic Greek dishes. One of the few places in the Netherlands where the food tastes just like it used to at home. Try it!

Wonderful, authentic experience. Warm and cozy atmosphere with exceptional food. Really delicious and generous portions. Well seasoned. Service was friendly and warm. Menu is diverse with something for everyone. Great offerings of regional wines. Can't wait to go again and try more stuff. Dessert was fantastic as well.

They say the greek tavern should be judged by the way they cut vegetables in the salad. Big chunks in this salad signal the high quality. Prices are very reasonable for Amsterdam, and gyro is large and well-sauced.

After the renovation I think the food has become very expensive. I now had to pay 13 euros for a small portion of simmered meat. For a small portion of manestra 5.75 and a bean dish also for 5.75. 25 euros for a small meal. It's a real shame because the food is very good.

Greek style. Wide options. Recommended. I went without reservation and was still able to find a spot. Try to order different small plates that is the key. And tap water to order more food!

Perfect food, price and service!

Romios is THE go-to place when looking for authentic Greek food in Amsterdam. The products are fantastic and the recent refurbishment added even a better touch to the place. The owners deserve all the success they got as the quality of the food and the service are both excellent and they manage to transfer this passion to all their employees.

I highly recommend!!! You will experience the true taste of Greek cuisine. Their Spicy Sagamaki with shrimps in tomato sauce was definitely a class better than what we had during our summer vacation in Greece. We recommend reserving a table at least 1-2 days in advance, especially if it is a Friday or Saturday. You certainly won't regret it. I still have "heaven in my mouth" 😀👍😉

The food is tasty, but the staff did not make me happy. Only spoke English, but not very intelligible and even bars over the phone. On site they did a little better. Few vegetarian options (I ran out of moussaka). The online map was not clear. You have to order everything separately, even rice. All in all, not a relaxed option for takeout.

A small Greek restaurant with excellent cuisine. Be sure to enjoy a selection from the very diverse starter menu. Unfortunately we didn't realize this until too late and only ordered main courses. The staff was very friendly and helpful, which really enriched our stay. The owner has very in-depth knowledge of wine, which made our selection much easier. This is my favourite restaurant in Amsterdam! Love the food here and it’s such great value. Haven’t ordered a transitional main here because I usually get a variety of dips, pita, cheese, bites etc. to share with the group I come with. The honey cheese is a must!!

Cannot comment on the quality of their food since we were unable to get any. We walked for 20 minutes to arrive at this restaurant after thoroughly checking out their Google listing online, which clearly states "no reservations accepted." See photo below. When we arrived we were told that they ONLY accept customers with reservations, despite Google clearly stating the opposite. They informed us that they were not only completely booked for that night, but also the following 2 nights. My father is 80 years old and has multiple fusions in his spine, walking long distances takes quite a toll on him. Terrible experience!

How can you not love this place ? Amazing food, the staff is super friendly, the wine is so good and the overall atmosphere is fantastic. I live in Amsterdam from many years and tried many Greek restaurant but hands down this is the best Greek restaurant in the city !

This is by far the best dining experience I’ve had in Amsterdam, in the most beautiful setting and with incredible staff. We had a range of plates recommended by the chef and every single dish was amazing. The vegetables were cooked to perfection in a tomato stew and the calamari was so fresh and tender. The bread basket with tzatziki was delicate, the shrimp so springy and vibrantly flavourful. I tried Greek coffee for the first time and it was just lovely. The serano cake was a great way to end the night. Honestly a 10/10 experience. The owner and team at Romios made us feel so welcome and truly went above and beyond to make our night a memorable one. I can’t thank them enough! I hope to eat here again soon.

pains me to say, but a big downgrade from the re-openning. the taverna has none of the original charm and rustic touch, as it has transformed into a more high-end dining concept. that also comes with significantly higher prices, but smaller portions that are just plated more nicely. still a good spot in town for greek food, especially if you are looking for something a tiny bit more fancy, but you will not get nearly as much character and rich of a dining experience as you could before. the old taverna interior and vibes will be very missed, as that was quite amazing and special.

Perfect Greek, here in the middle of Amsterdam, the food is tasty but especially the atmosphere is very good in the summer.
