The food was really delicious, and although the portions were on the smaller side, everything was wonderfully prepared. The only minor issue is that the door opens often, which can make the tables nearby a bit chilly.

The atmosphere at Romios is nice and the staff is genuinely friendly, but the food was very disappointing for us. Everything we ordered tasted as if it had been pre-cooked and then warmed up. The lamb chops, in particular, really suffered from this, grilled meat needs to be fresh off the grill to have that proper flavor, and we didn’t get that at all. This approach might work for some dishes, but it definitely doesn’t work for grilled items. The prices are higher than average, which I normally don’t mind paying if the food is worth it, but in this case, it simply wasn’t. Even though the service was friendly, the quality of the food left us unhappy, and we wouldn’t come back based on this experience.

One of our favorites until recently. The kitchen seemed to have a different chef. Lukewarm dishes, undercooked pork skewers, and our favorite divine orange dessert had become an okay cake-like dish, but nothing special anymore.

We were a group of three, but they seated us at a table meant for two. It was cramped, and we had to juggle plates and drinks all night, which made the experience quite uncomfortable. On top of that, we weren’t informed when booking that the table was only available for two hours. Had we known, we would have chosen another place, as this was a girls’ reunion and we had planned to relax, eat, and drink into the evening. The food was okay but not great. Overall, the experience wasn’t great and we won’t be going back.

Always delicious food and fast service. For me it’s the best Greek of the whole half round. It is definitely worth trying.

Food was bland and chewy, waiter was very unpleasant. Pushing that we were allowed to stay for max 1 hour. Overall a very very unpleasant experience and will not come back Edit: we were just called by the owner asking questions why i left a bad comment in a rude way. Don’t understand this behavior, and the owner doesn’t just take ownership for a bad experience. You can see what kind of place this is.

Very nice and cozy Greek restaurant in De Pijp! Very friendly service, good atmosphere and good food. We had the mixed grill and it was tasty. Restaurant is run by people who are actually from Greece, which is absolutely fantastic.

We booked for 4, but one friend canceled last minute so we were 3. The restaurant gave us 2 tables at first, then asked to take one away to host more people. We had ordered plenty of food and drinks, and it was obvious everything wouldn’t fit on a single table. Meanwhile, other groups of 3 were allowed bigger tables, staff told us their “4th was coming,” but that person never showed up. The food was nice, but the way we were treated was disappointing. We won’t be going back. Response: Thank you for your reply. Even if everything technically “fits” on one table, our photo clearly shows how crowded and uncomfortable it already was with just our mains, salad, drinks, and bottles. Dining in such a squeezed setup is not a pleasant experience, and if this is considered acceptable, it reflects the way the restaurant chooses to treat its guests. That is why we left disappointed, despite enjoying the food.

This used to be one of my favorite spots for both takeout and dining in. I visited once after their recent renovation, and unfortunately, the experience has changed. While the food quality remains good, the atmosphere now feels overcrowded. During our visit, staff repeatedly asked if we could move to a smaller table and seemed eager for us to leave. These interruptions made it impossible to enjoy our meal. I won’t be returning.

I love Greek food and culture, so I really wanted to visit Romios. The experience was overall good, but a little bit inconsistent. We ordered the grilled mastelo and some dips which were AMAZING, we couldn’t stop talking about how good they were. But the second part of our order took a lot of time to come, it was difficult to reach a server and when it came, the orzo was super disappointing. It wasn’t warm enough, the cooking point of the orzo wasn’t the ideal and flavour was just flat and a little bit boring. I leave 5 stars still cuz we loved the restaurant and we had a fun conversation with one of the owners and he was super nice 😊

Fantastic, authentic Greek food, we loved every dish and I would highly recommend it! The atmosphere is relaxed, true to Greek style, though the décor and layout could use a refresh. Some tables toward the back feel a bit like you’re sitting in the kitchen, and the glass food window gives off more of a takeaway vibe than a dine-in experience. The tables are also very small and don't fit all the amazing dishes on it. That said, the food more than makes up for it, and I’ll definitely be coming back.

We hade no idea, big surprise. Nice, simple place with excellent food. We were lucky: they had grilled red snapper for 2 persons. And try the Macedonian retsina!

I found the food (grilled fish, grilled eggplant, and shrimp appetizers) quite salty. The hostess asked us to order more, but we ended up not being able to finish it, leaving a lot of leftovers. The dining area was also very noisy, making it difficult to chat. I won't be back.

We did not have a pleasant experience at all. The waitress pointed in a general direction to a table, but we were asked to move to another. The table we sat at first remained empty all the time we were there! I asked for black tea, but got black chai Yogi tea, which had Indian herbs in it. There was no normal black tea. We had to pay for tap water. The food tasted good, but the potions are too small. Specially the stamna, which left my friend still hungry. It is sold as a vegetarian main dish, but there is nothing substantial in it, just vegetables, not a complete meal. When we said something about it, the answer was “well that’s how we serve it”. The baklava was mediocre at best. We did not feel welcome and will not come back. Edit: The owner’s response says it all! In stead of taking criticism seriously they just deny everything. This is exactly why we will not go there again. They make up things as well. We are no regulars there, we had been to this restaurant once before and had a different dessert at the time. And then this: similar dishes like stamna in other restaurants come with bread or rice as a standard side dish. We were told we could have ordered extra rice. A look at the menu told us that would have cost €9,- extra! They are too stingy to give tap water for free en too stingy to serve a full meal.

Romios makes you feel like you’re in a traditional Greek tavern. The staff are friendly, and I enjoy every type of dish—from cold meze and calamari to fish and meat, which are always delicious. Chef Nikos truly knows what he’s doing. I love this place and highly recommend it!

The food was perfect as the owner is greek himself he brought the same taste from his own country to this amazing city of Amsterdam ! Their gyros are amazing!

We ordered traditional authentic gyros and could help but eat it all! I was personally was surprised with the price of gyros, really moderate but the quality is top notch. Recommend for sure.

We waited way too long. I had to chase your server because they forgot to send the order to the kitchen. Drinks were forgotten too, and the place wasn’t even busy. The moussaka tasted old and reheated, the pita gyros lamb came out lukewarm, and we left a few minutes after the mains arrived without finishing. Your “15:08–15:49 = 41 minutes” line doesn’t change that — it just shows how long we were there, not how many times we had to chase or how bad the food was. And telling customers they’re “not welcome” is a terrible look. lol, Your McD/KFC lecture says more about your attitude than my standards. Fix the service, get the orders right, and serve fresh, hot food. This was the worst Greek meal I’ve had in Amsterdam. I won’t be back — keep the attitude and the “taverna” for someone else. Good luck with your creepy restaurant.

Romios was a wonderful experience!! The food is top notch, we had been there a couple of years ago and remember how well we had eaten, so we went back last week and weren’t disappointed! Definitely the place to eat if you are in Amsterdam and crave Greek food!

A very cozy and excellent Greek restaurant located in the heart of the Old South. This place is highly recommended; the service is excellent, and the staff are friendly and helpful. We had various types of meat, with pittas, which were delicious. The salad and dessert were also excellent! One of the better Greek restaurants in Amsterdam, in my opinion. We will definitely go back. It's best to make a reservation, as it's a busy place.

I went there yesterday. It was packed outside, and inside it was almost empty. There wasn't a table available for me. The lady in charge told me this very rudely.

The photos say it all. It looked and smelled so good that we couldn’t wait to eat and drink! The hospitality and service from the staff and owner was amazing, real Greek heart. The flavours really are top notch and as good as any Greek taverna I have been to. We will be back soon.

As a Greek American I love trying Greek food in other countries and use recipes from regions outside of the souvlaki and pastichio. Loved the variety of dishes that were vegetarian. Spoke with the owner about the influence of his dishes and he paired our meals with a great red wine.

A very small table for three people who wanted a lot of mezedes, but that wasn't possible. So we were constantly trying to create space by putting dishes together. The chairs weren't suitable for comfortable dining. The food itself was good, but suddenly the staff and the owner sat outside smoking and drinking; the rest of the staff were eating, so there was no service. Next to us were two women who waited at least half an hour before someone finally showed up. The price was reasonable, but the food wasn't particularly special. (I say this as the owner of a Greek restaurant in Greece for 25 years.) Nice for lunch, but we wouldn't go back. But I'm sure it will continue to run smoothly, even without us.

We had an amazing dinner at Romios. The food was so well cooked, full of flavors and based on good ingredients! The ambiance was very relaxed. Highly recommend it if you want to have an authentic taste of Greek flavors!

So. We took takeout: Lamb kebabs and Souvlaki. When opening the box it already didn't smell or look great, when tasting I was sure everything was overdue. Long story short we did take a few bites followed by two days of feeling sick and very bad stomach cramps all that for 36 euro,-. Places like this don't deserve even one customer, customers especially at this price point deserve fresh and good food, and not expired food. UPDATE: I have seen the response of the owner and I will not react to him because it's so incredibly rude, first of all it was a take out so we didn't even sit in the Taverna. Looking at the reviews it is not the first time the owner is incredibly rude to his customers, also there are multiple reviews mentioning people got food poisoned. Be warned for this steep price and stay AWAY!

Let me start with the positive: the food. Delicious flavors, good prices, and for a moment, I felt like I was back in Greece. However, that experience was abruptly and unpleasantly interrupted by the middle-aged man who served us. He was curt and visibly irritated from the start. When we asked a few questions about the menu and didn't immediately make a choice, he snapped at us in a tone that was downright rude, asking if we wanted the food hot or cold. We were stunned. A simple order suddenly became an awkward situation. The way we were treated was disrespectful and completely inappropriate, especially in a restaurant. What started out as a pleasant experience took a complete turn. It's a shame, because the food deserves better than this customer service.

Lamb pita gyros is wonderful, very tasty with high quality meet and tzatziki. They serve it with freshly cooked fries. Service was friendly. Menu is varied, the prices are nice. If you decide to come in the evening better to book in advance, cause it can be crowded

I bike passed this restaurant everyday and the atmosphere of it always made me want to try it out, after telling my Greek friends about where I was going for dinner they all said it was the best Greek place to go to in Amsterdam. The experience was very pleasant in every aspect of it, had the chance to talk with the owners by the end of my meal who advised us on trying the typical Mastika digestive. definitely coming back and recommending it.

Wow, a lovely little Greek taverna in the heart of Amsterdam. So glad we found this gem. The food was truly delicious, so I definitely recommend it. You can also order takeout. To guarantee a table, make a reservation in advance. It's definitely worth it!

Delicious, affordable. Genuinely friendly staff. A victim of its own success: you have to check your email to see if your reservation has been confirmed (the interface appears to indicate a possible reservation, but it's only a request, without indicating whether the restaurant is full). The wait time for the caterer can be a bit long.

This is a great spot to try Greek food, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The menu is diverse, and most of the dishes we tried were good. However, charging €3 for a liter of tap water felt a bit excessive, especially since it’s usually offered free of charge in most places. Some dishes also missed the mark: the olives were far too salty, the artichoke had inedible hairy parts, and the red sauce served with the kebab was overly spicy. On a positive note, the baklava was absolutely delicious!

I went yesterday to try this place but I was disappointed by the service. You need to pay for having tap water which for me normally belongs to very touristy place. The food was ok but the selection of 4 mezze is 4 dry types of food so I wanted to change one of them for tatsiki, to have a more balanced meal. But unfortunately the manager was totally close to making any changes which I also find a pity, and there was not even a try to ask to the kitchen, it was just a firm and cold no. The food was ok but not worth this type of service.

Solid place for a quick and tasty greek lunch. Can’t vouch for the authenticity, but the place is run by greeks and the decor is full-blown greek taverna style. We had like a pita salad: pita at the bottom with multiple things on top, which I particularly enjoyed. Food was fresh, tzatziki was on top and I liked it. Service a bit rushed, but overall quite good.

Absolutely delicious! Great ingredients, everything was fresh and full of flavor. We had the plate to share for two, and were very happy with all the dishes it consisted of. We also recommend the orange cake with ice cream. Worth visiting!

Amazing Greek food and great atmosphere

Ive been several times to this place (also when it was a traiteur) and never ended up disappointed! The quality of the food is similar to what you can find in Greece and the service is nice! Keep the good work!

We entered the store at around 3:30 pm and the lady briefly announced that “they open at 5”. Clearly there were people all around the store eating and drinking. We decided to wait although we were not sure what “we open at 5” means when they were already open. 5 comes around we enter the store again (at 5:03 exactly) people eating and many empty tables. This time they tell us that there are no tables available. Clearly we were not informed by anyone that we should reserve a table. As I see it the lady at the entrance could have at least offered to put us in the waiting list. Disappointing service we won’t be back.

As a Greek, I am really happy that "Romios" exists. I visited recently and it truly felt like home. I tried a variety of dishes and everything was delicious. The flavors, the hospitality and the overall vibe all bring you back to Greece. Overall, it is a great place for both Greeks and internationals to get an authentic taste of Greek cuisine in a warm and welcoming setting.

Local greek food, amazing!!!! It’s a family-run restaurant and we loved the treat here. Food was really good, and price-quality was perfect, you don’t see this usually in Amsterdam. So this is a gem worth visiting!! Only downside is that they go very fast with the serving and within <1h we were finished and we felt being kicked out of the place.

Had dinner here last night following a message from Wesley from Greek Blue. We loved it. This is really the taste of Greece that you will not find in many Greek restaurants in the Netherlands. Nice little restaurant. Unfortunately too far from Leeuwarden otherwise we would definitely come more often. We only took mezze's as we often do in Greece. We got the impression that people thought it was a bit strange that we didn't have a main course. But once again a delicious meal!

Very good and authentic Greek food. Very warm place!!! Okra in Amsterdam you can imagine! But it has everything! Great oily beans, okra, peas! I got delicious cabbage dumplings!

Made a confirmed reservation on time. When we arrived there was a scribbled note on the door saying " closed due to technical issues. I bet those issues where the hangovers you had from kingsday. Didn't even receive a call. It was a planned birthday even. Never experienced anything like this before.
