Ach, wie süß! Auf unserem Weg durch das wenig ansehnliche Roosendaal stießen wir auf diese niedliche Taverne, die so auch in Griechenland laufen könnte. Ein bisschen in die jähre gekommen vielleicht, aber stilecht mit Plastiktischdecken und allerhand pittoreskem Dekozeugs. Zu Beginn bekamen wir ungefragt einen Ouzo vor die Nasse gestellt - so gehört sich das! Die von uns gewählten Souflaki waren auch in Ordnung, hätten vielleicht etwas krosser und vielleicht etwas mehr durchgebraten sein könne, waren aber geschmacklich voll im Soll. Preislich ok für die Niederlande, die ja an sich recht kostspielig sind. Die Bedienung war auch freundlich und aufmerksam. Was will man mehr?

The welcome was very warm and felt almost familiar. We weren't familiar with the atmosphere inside; we ate outside. And then passing cyclists and mopeds were a bit of a problem. We had a mixed grill and a moussaka. The mixed grill was well-cooked and perfectly seasoned. The lamb chops were the best, especially because they were the juiciest on the whole platter. The accompanying rice was okay, but nothing special. The moussaka was certainly fine, but it's Greek tradition (at least, everywhere I've ever eaten Greek, including in Athens) to top the layers with béchamel sauce and not tomato sauce. The chocolate cake was delicious, the baklava was warm and tasty, definitely not too sweet. The Greek yogurt was thick (as it should be). They just forgot the walnuts I mentioned 😉 The service was really good and friendly. And the price was definitely reasonable.

Delicious food, cozy atmosphere. Friendly service. Quite expensive for a Greek restaurant, but the food and drinks were very good. It was a bit chaotic, but I think it was due to a shortage of staff. The platter the appetizer for two was on had broken porcelain. The main courses were served on wooden planks. I find both unhygienic. But the atmosphere, the quality, and the friendliness made any drawbacks negligible.

Atmospheric tavern. Large selection of typical Greek dishes. Both fish and meat. Everything tastefully prepared and presented. Only the house wine I found of questionable quality. Very friendly and smooth service. You can sit both inside and outside. Ideal opportunity to visit for a performance in the nearby theater hall Kring. We will definitely come back.

DONT GO THERE 112 EUROS for wait 3 hours without an advise and eat not good cuality of food. We went yesterday to diner there, we went inside and the restaurant was a little bit full, we ask for a table and they after 5 min looking at the agenda they sit us without say anything. We went there about 18.30 and we were waiting for our food for more than 1h and half, nobody came to say sorry for the wait or just tell us in advance that the food is gonna take TOOOO long. The owner came few times to ask how was everything when the food came and I said to her the true, the waiting time wasnt good and the quality of the food was not nice at all... she said she gonna try to fix it but she didn't fix anything. We asked for the Bill and even leaving the plate almost full nobody came to say sorry or give us a present for the horrible night.

3 kleine Keftedakus balletjes, mijn man denkt dat ze in de magnetron verwarmd zijn. Wijn in een limonadeglas. Mixed grill was wel redelijk/goed. Baklavas zag er nogal donker uit, ook uit de magnetron?? Dus hij vindt het niet voor herhaling vatbaar. Ik had 6 grote lekkere garnalen. De frite en frisse salade zijn lekker. Cheese cake was goed (als je van erg zoet houdt). Voor ons de 1e keer. Helaas niet voor herhaling vatbaar. Personeel erg vriendelijk. Bediening is prima.

Fantastisch gegeten met Carnaval. Ontzettend vriendelijke eigenaars en personeel. Ondanks Carnaval gewoon eten van een echt bord, drinken uit een echt glas. Kunnen andere restaurants in Roosendaal een voorbeeld aan nemen. We hebben genoten!!

We had dinner at Helios last night for our 40th wedding anniversary with a large group of 25 people. Food was delicious, service was friendly and all our guests were very satisfied. The food for such a large group was perfectly prepared. Thanks again for the good care.

Food was good. We were 6 people and ordered a bit of everything. This was presented on wooden planks, which caused the meat to get cold quickly. Very unfortunate, cold meat is not tasty. Our waiter was TOO friendly, annoying.

Hartelijke ontvangst met een welgemeende handdruk. Tafel kiezen was geen probleem. Eten besteld en bij elke gang werd er gevraagd of wij klaar waren voor het doorkomen. Ook continu oprecht de vraag of alles naar wens was. Eten an amazing ch was prima maar het personeel maakte het compleet!

Last night we finally had a nice dinner with the two of us again. And decided to take a look at Helios. What a great tent! Especially the super friendly people! We were welcomed very friendly upon arrival and were well looked after during our meal and occasionally had a nice chat. The food was also very tasty and more than enough to eat. We had the various hot snacks as a starter, highly recommended. We have already been to a number of Greek restaurants, but this is certainly the tastiest and the one where we felt most welcome. We will definitely come back here again!

We hebben lekker gegeten van smakelijke gyros en souvlaki. Helaas veel geduld moeten oefenen voor we te eten gekregen, de communicatie in de keuken verliep blijkbaar wat stroef. Wel heel vriendelijke eigenaar.

Heerlijk gegeten weer en de gastvrijheid is hier top. Genoten van de gezellige sfeer en bediening. Ook de eigenaars laten je echt welkom voelen.

Made a last minute reservation on a Saturday evening. We got the "staff table". This table is a bit higher and looks out over the restaurant. Absolutely great. Extremely hospitable staff. As a big fan of Greece, I was surprised to find such an authentic Greek experience. Had a delicious lamb shank (kleftiko), which I have often had less in Greece itself. We will definitely come back here. Thank you!!!

We hebben gisteren hier met onze Engelse vrienden hier gegeten. Voor ons was het niet nieuw voor hen wel. Ze waren zeer aangenaam verrast door het lekkere eten. De aangeboden ouzo viel erg in de smaak. Voor-en hoofdgerechten van goede kwaliteit en lekker. Vriendelijke en attente bediening. Dus.....tot de volgende!

From my/our Greek food hobby, I have visited all Greek restaurants from Vlissingen to Eindhoven. Helios is definitely number 1. Went today for the first time. Only missing fetta in the salad. But the perfectly cooked gyros more than made up for that. The service and friendliness are simply worth a thumbs up. Even the owner's Greek blue sneakers completed the picture! See you soon.

It was a great place. The moussaka was very delicious! My son ordered a hamburger; unfortunately, there isn’t a hamburger in Greek cuisine, so we ordered something similar. We met the owner, who was really friendly and hospitable. He even offered me some Greek ouzo.

I can tell a nice story, but that's pointless. Good and tasty food on two different evenings, delicious. The owner kissed my wife warmly in welcome. He felt honored.

Booked here for my birthday based on reviews. It was very hectic on arrival, but we received a hospitable welcome. We found it too hot inside and upon request a spot outside was arranged. The service and owner are very nice, but unfortunately we had to ask whether our starter would be served after an hour, after which there was a half hour between the main course. I didn't think the wine was great. At other Greek restaurants, my experience is that I get a sweet red Greek wine (a dessert wine) that is a bit syrupy. Portions were good and the meat tasted good. Fries were a bit less, as was the rice. We also thanked her for dessert. It may be due to the crowds or a different layout of the terrace with the nice weather, but for us it will be back to the old familiar Greek and it will remain a one-off visit.

We had dinner in this restaurant on the national holiday of King's Birthday. Probably not a good moment to make a choice for a restaurant. Besides the fact that it was very busy, the staff was overloaded with work. Food which we ordered seemed to be not available anymore, we only got told after having waiting for the food already for a while. The stifado (typical Greek stew with onions) had nearly no meet, so definitely not how it should be. I believe we need to return again to this restaurant for giving them a second chance.

Wat een teleurstelling. De bediening was slecht. Moesten steeds om drinken vragen. Extra dingen waar we om vroegen, werden steeds vergeten. Het eten was een schande. Dat hier geld voor gevraagd durft te worden. Het voorgerecht was niet gaar. Het hoofdgerecht was smakeloos, veel te lang doorgegaard vlees. We kregen bijna het idee dat er oud vlees opnieuw opgewarmd is geworden. Zo droog en taai. Nee, geen tweede keer meer hier. Zonde want het plekje zelf is aardig.

I recently ate at Helios twice, both times a warm welcome, neat and friendly service and I certainly had nothing to complain about the food! If a fancy place isn't for you but you want quality food, I would definitely recommend this!

Had Greek takeaway here for the first time. Mixed Grill was delicious. Tender meat and fine flavors. Real quality. What also stood out was the welcome and the friendly people who work there. Recommended! We would like to enjoy the hospitality and delicious food here more often.

This weekend after a visit to Roosendaal looking for a Greek restaurant, it turns out that there are several! We have often eaten at Greek restaurants and can therefore make good judgments about food, etc. Helios is located in a quiet street and the sun was shining, ok, give it a try. The staff was friendly and prompt. The atmosphere is friendly, it is not very big. What I immediately noticed was the worn floor when I entered, it all looks a bit worn, but ok. The food is mediocre, not bad but not really outstanding either. The farmer's salad (always a recognizable thing for a Greek) was some white cabbage and lettuce with a tomato put in a bowl... no feta, etc. Starter (fried zucchini) was on a base of wilted lettuce. The mixed meat dish was ok, the gyros were well cooked and not well done, for example. Portions sufficient. Final bill for what we had eaten was not really in proportion, main course for example. was quite expensive for what it was.

Ended up at Helios after a fun day. For me it was more of the same. Most Greek restaurants are not really distinctive, nor is Helios. Mezes as an appetizer and meat dishes as a main course did not stand out for me. Not bad food, but at times I found the lamb too salty and the tenderloin a bit too tough. Next time I will try more starters, maybe I will like them better.

Ate here a while ago. There was a problem with the oven that made it take a little longer. However, the staff really did everything they could to ensure we still had a pleasant evening. With such nice people, as a customer you can't really make a fuss if they have a bad luck. The food was fantastic and well worth the wait!
