We received a warm welcome, a homely atmosphere, lovely Spanish music, and a great vibe. We opted for the Happs sharing dinner and were served delicious warm bread straight from the oven with a tasty dip and fresh olives. You can taste how fresh everything is; it's highly recommended and fantastically seasoned in true Spanish style.

We had a very pleasant time with my family and friends. The atmosphere and the food were excellent, and we really enjoyed spending time together. We ordered Happ's Varied Carb for two people; I think it is sufficient for three people as well.

My friends saw it on social media. Everything seemed good and tasty. We went out for dinner with friends one night. The 12 euro mocktail was a sparkling water with a little taste that was not at all delicious. The steak was not even 40% what it should have been. In short, it is not a place to go. We should not buy games from social media.

The shared appetizer was a small plate full of lettuce, completely lacking in flavor, with a piece of salmon, anchovies, melon, and a cheese triangle. There was no discernible love for the craft, and the quality/price ratio was terrible. The meat served with the main course (we had three) was pre-cut. The calamari was perfectly round, probably frozen. The bill was out of proportion to the quality, and we wouldn't return. A shame for the restaurant, as the location is fantastic.

A waste of money and a waste of the beautiful and atmospheric location. Because if you have such a location and you charge 40 euros for a tapas menu, you, as a customer, should also expect the passion for cooking to be evident. Unfortunately, the vegetarian restaurant we had in mind was fully booked. However, we saw the charming terrace of Happs and decided to eat there. I'm a vegetarian, and my girlfriend was open to sharing a vegetarian tapas menu with me. It was a disappointment. Except for the grilled vegetables, every dish was fried. Cauliflower balls in a thick layer of semi-fried dough. There was hardly any cauliflower or herbs. The same was true for the fried eggplant. Croquettes with mushrooms, potatoes with minimal sauce. We pinned our hopes on the spinach puff pastry appetizers. These were pure spinach, no seasoning, no cheese, no dip. The only dip available was aioli. And that was desperately needed to finish all the dry, tasteless dishes. We couldn't even finish half our plate. Out of politeness, I ate more than I could handle. But I felt that too at night... I've never left a review before. But when I saw the disappointed and surprised face of the friendly owner because we hadn't even finished half our plates, I wanted to give feedback. Because what a shame it is to have such a beautiful location that people don't want to come back. Grab a cookbook, find some tasty recipes for vegetarian tapas, delicious dips, and good salads. Then you'll definitely be fine. With passion and a love of cooking. Even though the food was absolutely not worth the price, we felt the location and the service made up for it somewhat.

Niet te bereiken met rolstoel of kinderwagen. Was nergens aangegeven, ook bij het reserveren niet. Vervolgens komen we er met moeite en de kinderwagen beneden, wel geholpen door personeel. We hebben Tomahawk besteld met ossenhaas stukjes en burger. En nog wat koude gerechten. Tomahawk zag er goed uit van buiten, eenmaal gesneden aan de binnenkant nog erg rauw. Ossenhaas stukjes terug gestuurd, vieze oude smaak en stinkende geur 🤢🤮. Leek of het bedorven was. Burger was ook niet te vreten. Enige pluspunt was dat het personeel vriendelijk was. Verder heel slecht gegeten. Prijzen waren ook erg hoog. En menukaart wat voor veel gerechten p.p prijzen opstaan, maar als je wilt bestellen kan het alleen maar voor 2 persoon. Ik vind het niet erg om voor eten meer te betalen. Maar het moet wel goed zijn. Niet aan te raden en we gaan er nooit meer heen!!!

Happs is in a prime spot beside the canal. Like many other tourists we stopped here after a canal tour. The service was quite slow for simple drinks (beer and an Aperol Spritz) and finger food (loempiaatje and vlammetjes). The Aperol was terrible; watery and served in a tall, coloured glass that made me wonder how it had been mixed. I questioned it and was assured it was a standard made Aperol. The food was average.

I also confirm that I didn’t eat food there, hence I have not even rated the food, but only the ambience of the restaurant, which was based on my experience of being around that place.

Het eten was niet te doen. Veel te taai allemaal en de tomahawk steak was gewoon koud van binnen en nog rauw. De bezorging was ook uitermate slecht. 2 personen waren al uitgegeten, toen werd voor de overige 6 de tapas gebracht.

The tomahawk was cooked twice, and the pieces were still raw. We let ourselves be seduced by social media. But it was simply too disgusting to eat. We left almost all the food.

A truly awful experience. After seeing all the great social media posts, we decided to eat at Happs as a group of friends. Once inside, we were given a menu and our drinks were taken (also the last time that evening). We chose our tapas dishes, and they were delivered within about 20 minutes. We ordered prawns, tenderloin, chicken wings, and chicken skewers. No attention seemed to be paid to anything; everything was overcooked and salty, just really not tasty. Anyway, for dessert, we decided to order the house specialty, the TOMAHAWK. This €100 piece of meat was the biggest disappointment. I think the core temperature was 10 degrees Celsius. We pointed this out, and our meat was cooked on both sides again. We got it back after 5 minutes, still not right. After this, we didn't feel like staying any longer and walked to the cash register. Our bill was €558, and after sharing our opinion, we were given a 30% discount. You won't find us here again.

Nous avons trouvé ce beau restaurant par hasard, et en voyant la carte avons décidé d’y aller, étant assez flexible. Je viens de voir les avis qui n’ont absolument rien à voir à ce que nous avons eu en service. En effet tout était parfait. Les repas extrêmement bien garnis, étaient délicieux, en passant du burger, aux pâtes au saumon. Sachant que le restaurant est très bien situé, au bord du canal. L’intérieur comme l’extérieur comportent des décorations très jolies, comme plantes et lampes, un endroit étant très cocooning ! Les toilettes sont très propres aussi et le rapport qualité prix est raisonnable. Nous avons adoré, je recommande fortement ! Merci bien

Had a nice snack by the water after kayaking.

Yesterday we visited Happs in Utrecht and only ate 7 tapas, 4 of which were more than disappointing. For €10-13 per bowl, we expected the quality to be impressive, but instead, many of the dishes seemed like simple, mass-produced items, lacking any particular flavor or freshness. With a bill of over €87, we should have at least felt full and expected better quality. The service was also unfortunately inattentive, which made the experience even more frustrating. It's a shame, because the potential is there, as the place by the canal is really beautiful. We wouldn't go back, but anyone looking for a nice spot for a glass of sangria (it was delicious) might be satisfied here.

We had a tapas platter, and it was really good. Varied and tasty. Service was good, but be a bit more clear if you only speak English. Then the espresso... €3.25!!!!! That's absolutely criminal. It wasn't even a real espresso, just a small coffee. Coffee is expensive, but this is ridiculous. It was also mediocre and terrible for the price! For €3.25, I expect the best espresso, with a glass of water, and for that price, a small cookie would have been nice. I didn't realize it when I was paying, otherwise I certainly wouldn't have left a tip, because they'd apparently already taken it. Last week I was in Sardinia, and in touristy spots, I was drinking REAL espresso for €1.20, and in Sardinia, they have to source the coffee from far away.

Apart from the great location, I wouldn't recommend it. Except for one waiter, everyone was a bit grumpy. Service was generally very infrequent. The sandwiches were simply pre-baked rolls. The tapas, however, were quite tasty. Very expensive and completely unjustified. We definitely wouldn't go back.

Had dinner outside on the terrace by the water. The service is friendly but some seem like they don't feel like it. Inside it looks cozy, outside less so. There was also glass on the floor that wasn't cleaned up. People were walking around with flip-flops (summer weather that day) so dangerous situations. Also litter on the floor such as fallen beer mats. Our table was sticky but was 'cleaned' with a dry wad of paper. The food came quickly. The hamburger tasted good and was well done. The entrecote tasted dry, left half of it.

The steak tips had a grey colour and were supposed to have a ‘delicious sauce’. There was only a little pepper and salt on it. As if it wasn’t fried, but really boiled in boiling water. We left it and indicated that we didn’t like it. In the end we only had to pay for our drinks and bread. All the food was taken off the bill, which we both thought was very nice. So they handled it nicely, but they really should do something about the quality of their food. This is definitely not Spanish tapas.

De locatie is keuk, we hebben shared dining besteld. Vlees genoeg en gevarieerd maar de bediening is erg traag en moeizaam. We hebben lang zitten wachten op elke gang en moesten bijvoorbeeld extra saus twee keer vragen. Prijs - kwaliteit verhouding is maar zo zo… Wij komen niet meer terug.

Food was not too warm, milk with coffee was out of date and the ordered churros had ice cream, while that was not on the menu and was also not wanted. The number of churros was disappointing and not worth the price. The cheese board lacked bread and no explanation was given about the types of cheese.

De locatie is prima en het personeel ook vriendelijk. Er werd echt meegedacht met de invulling van ons uitje en communicatie verliep prima. Daarvoor echt lof. De tapas zijn heel standaard, niet veel afwisseling en matig qua smaak. Presentatie leuk maar verder toch teleurstellend.

No words! Going to dinner on Mother's Day to seeing all the TikTok videos. Ordered several things including Gamba's tenderloin tips and a tomahawk steak. After seeing and tasting the food, we decided to leave it all alone. Had a quick conversation with the owner where we found out that we would receive a bill for 600 euros. Fortunately, this amount has been reclaimed to 130 euros, which is the only positive of the evening. The owner of happs Utrecht told us that tastes differ depending on whether the food was not good. You can decide for yourself whether the 100 euro tomahawk steak looks like a 100 euro tomahawk steak. Unfortunately, one of us also became quite ill on the way back, so we stopped at the pump to throw up. Dear people, life is indeed short. enjoy life. but you don't do that at Happs in Utrecht

We were there on a quiet Wednesday evening. The staff was friendly and the food was tasty. The only downside was that the food got cold very quickly. We had a shared platter mixed grill and just couldn't finish it. So you really get value for your money and the amounts were not too bad.

The food was delicious: we chose a tender steak with side dishes, and everything was perfectly prepared. The flavors were balanced, the meat was super tender and the presentation was great. The service also deserves a big compliment, friendly, fast and with genuine attention to the guest. You really feel welcome here. And for those who like a bit of a show: the owner has a TikTok account with videos that are sometimes viewed more than 500,000 times! So who knows, you might become famous while enjoying your dinner.
