A Greek/Italian restaurant that maintains classic styles. You see, taste, and smell the tradition and culture, and it's certainly a place with a reasonable price and excellent service. After eating here over 10 times, I can say the experience is worth every penny. Portions are generous, the service is hospitable, and the atmosphere feels like a journey into the past.

I saw insects everywhere, just darting across the moldy tablecloth. The restrooms were beyond words. The pizzas eventually gave everyone diarrhea. One thing's for sure: I'm not going back.

We ordered through Thuisbezorgd. A gentleman arrived with two large warming containers and asked if he could bring them inside. He carefully took everything out and chatted with us. The food was delicious and plentiful! We enjoyed it and will definitely order from them again!

As we entered Mr. Jack's lobby, we immediately felt like we were entering Vila Volta. The lobby was richly decorated with Italian-Greek ornaments, and ornaments like armbands were everywhere, reminding us of the restaurant's history and significance to the community. Unfortunately, Mr. Jack wasn't there yet, but after a call, he quickly came over to help us and open the restaurant. When we entered the restaurant, we were simply amazed. The various flags, slightly crooked paintings, and other random decorations showed us that many significant events were celebrated in this restaurant. The food was delicious, authentic, and the merlot flowed freely. Mr. Jack was very quick to take our order, and with his positive, energetic attitude, he immediately set the table to enjoy the evening. In short, if you're looking for a unique experience, Mr. Jack's is the place for you.

This is a student restaurant, offering great value for money. The owner is possibly related to John Cleese/Fawlty Towers. He anticipates your reaction. We ate here with a group; it was delicious, plentiful, and very convivial. The five stars are based on a student-run establishment.

We were here with our classes to eat, and we were welcomed by a man who shouted very loudly. In addition, the food was very uncomfortable, there were hairs on the food, and people got sick from it. The meat was very hard and tasted like plastic, there were traces of use on the glasses, the cutlery was also very dirty

Ik heb hier afgelopen week met mijn vriend gegeten. Ik dacht we lopen even snel ergens naar binnen. Wat te drinken en een broodje vooraf besteld. De glazen waren ontzettend vies, waardoor we uit het flesje dronken. Toen we het brood mandje kregen zat de schimmel nog in de rand van het mandje. Ook het eten was niet lekker, de patat was vol gezogen met vet. De pizza was ook niet lekker. Uiteindelijk nog op het toilet geweest, en wat we hier aan troffen. Deze is in al geen tijden schoongemaakt, bril zat vast getaped. Geen aanrader!

What a tomb tent. When you enter you are greeted with the smell of sewage and rotting food. The owner was very aggressive, shouting if you got up to change places. Napkins had already been used. Squeezed butts in the candles. Stains of whatever in the tablecloth. Already gone before dinner, and so did my appetite.

Super fun place. Friendly owner who's always up for a chat, snacks with a beer, and a great atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Great place.

Group of 25 persons, got called days before to give order in. Still when we arrived we waited over 2 hours to get an overly salty meal. Meat not fresh grilled and deep-frozen pizza's. Place was almost as cold as outside. Owner very pushy and taking pictures of you without permission. Even when saying you dont want to be photographed... Place was dusty and poor maintained. Toilets full with water and glasses with dust. It's cheap but not worth your money. When paying he forcibly asked for a tip, crazy attitude.

Sorry but this restaurant is antisocial and the pizza is inedible and the worst part is. I went there while it should have been open a long time ago, we called the boss and they said that they actually only open at 7 o'clock, while they are supposed to open at 5 o'clock according to the website, it is scary, you get sick from the food, when you come in they also just tell you which dishes not to eat because you can get sick from them, it is terrible

Fantastic experience with our group of 24 people for a cozy dinner! The owner really gave us the VIP treatment from the moment we walked in. You immediately notice his passion for the profession and his guests. Yes, the location itself is a bit simple and authentic as other reviews also indicate, but we expected that. The place is clearly in need of renovation and maintenance. The atmosphere became more and more cozy as the evening progressed (and the 24 bottles of wine were empty). I am very satisfied with the food. I chose the mixed grill platter with three types of meat with fries - everything well seasoned and prepared. Most of the others in our group went for different pizzas and I only heard positive sounds. The portions are also very generous, nobody went home hungry. For this price-quality ratio you really can't complain. If you are looking for a fancy restaurant you should go somewhere else, but for a cozy group evening with good food and an informal and slightly grim atmosphere this is recommended. The owner really makes it special.

I enjoyed their antique website, clearly designed by someone with a passion for design. Even the number of ham slices per pizza is included, although that always works out well. Menu says 5 slices of salami, photo shows 6. Total confusion 😂 As for food: where can you eat for 10 euros? McDonalds is even more expensive.

Sad, downright gross. Everything is dirty or broken. Bread with herb butter in advance, you can't go wrong, you might think...baking pistol for 4 people with a bowl of margarine with dried parsley on top. Then the pizzas.....frozen bases that are topped, there was even cheddar cheese on it that you would expect on a hamburger. the glass of wine was more like vinegar, two sips of beer. But we quickly settled, we just couldn't eat it anymore, and away we went, just had some fries. This restaurant should be closed immediately.

My experience at this Greek/Italian restaurant was appalling. The service was neglectful, the owner appeared to be on cocaine, and the pizza was like a dense loaf of bread with minimal sauce. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, not even a homeless person.

I don't know if this is standard, but when we got here: -There were still plates of food on the table from the day before -the door was opened for us (because the handle was missing -it was just as cold inside as outside -there was 1 person on staff -the men's toilet was closed due to glass everywhere -There was rancidity everywhere in the women's toilet -the power went out because of the 2 mini heaters -the cats walked past, but also on the table Well...the one man staff did his best, and the food was good. All in all a unique experience. I really wish the best man had a better atmosphere, etc., but... if it's such a mess, you just have to tidy it up and clean it thoroughly before you open.

All the people complaining in the reviews have never been to Greece! This restaurant is Greek through and through! Good food, big portions, staff with temperament! And that for a good price. Don't expect a top restaurant, but just an authentic Greek restaurant!

Het gaat niet goed met dit aloude restaurant: personeelstekort, achterstallig onderhoud, de (zeer sympathieke) eigenaar doet vrijwel alles zelf, holt van tafel naar tafel, verontschuldigt zich voortdurend en probeert het in drie talen voor elkaar te krijgen dat iedereen dezelfde pizza bestelt ('die is kakelvers'). Geen wonder dat er zo weinig gasten zijn, wat op zich erg jammer is. Hopelijk verdwijnt dit anders zo sfeervolle restaurant niet, want je kunt hier van oudsher goed, vers en betaalbaar Grieks en Italiaans eten krijgen.

Asociale bediening. Gerechten zijn 'te moeilijk om te maken' dus moesten we maar iets anders bestellen. Bediening komt kauwend op kauwgom aan tafel. Opzich wel ok eten. Ga hier alleen heen als je met grote groepen bent met een klein budget.

Als je NIET van spinnen houdt, is dit DE IDEALE plek om te eten! Al zeker 10 jaar bestel ik hier pizza, en nooit een spin gevonden. Ik kan met 60% zekerheid zeggen dat Mr Jack geen lizardperson is. AKTIE: Het leven is te kort om hier geen pizza Corleone (uit the Godfather) te bestellen. Doe het. Mr. Jack zit in mijn muren ik hoor zijn stem als ik probeer te slapen help. Zie ook de site, tenzij je epilepsie of griekenlandfobie hebt. Arachnaphobie dan kan je wel veilig naar de site. 10/10

Lekker gegeten, veel voor weinig geld ik had besteld via thuisbezorgd. Ik had Grill Aristoteles besteld. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar😃👍🏻

Was voor mn jubileum met mn dame uiteraard wezen eten bij Mr. jacks. Zoals altijd een topservice!! En lekker kroelen met poes Nike. Ik genoot van de atmosfeer en ambiance, keurig metgezeld door de enige echt Mr Jack. Porties zijn groot genoeg voor een Griekse Titaan. TOP!! Nog bedankt voor de liquertje topper

Ik ben hier n paar keer geweest. Grote porties voor n kleine prijs. Dat is het uitgangspunt hier. Ik heb er lekker gezeten en gegeten. Verwacht geen haute cuisine. Als het druk is is de bediening een rommeltje. Interieur is oud. Stoelen zijn ok. Toilet is minder. Sfeer is zeker goed, aardige lui. Ik ga vast nog wel een keer. In Nijmegen zit er ook een, vergelijkbaar. Voor mij ook prima.

Mr. Jacks voelt als thuiskomen, maar dan op vakantie. Je krijgt er vol belegde pizzas en een memorabel gesprek met mr Jack hemzelf er bij. De films die Jack aanraadde waren fenomenaal. De ouzo stroomde ook rijkelijk!

Een heel bord vol voor een fijne prijs. Enorm vriendelijk personeel. Met volle buik en grote glimlach weer vertrokken na afloop.

Het was erg leeg voor een zaterdagavond. Er hing een vreemde geur in het restaurant. Het was er heel koud. We hebben met winterjas en shawl gegeten. Er leek soms wat ruzie te zijn tussen de kok en de bediening. Het duurde bijna 1,5 uur voordat het eten er was. De Griekse schotel was prima: friet was lekker en warm. Giros was wel wat vettig. De pizza was niet lekker. We raden dit restaurant zeker niet aan en komen hier helaas nooit meer terug.

Wij waren er op een zaterdagavond maar het was schrikbarend leeg. Een deel van het restaurant, uit de goede tijden, was afgesloten. Er hangt een bijzondere geur in dit restaurant, best te omschrijven als muf/mottenballen. De bediening lijkt niet op de hoogte te zijn van je bestelling. Een bord eten waar iemand al mee begonnen was, wordt zo van tafel gehaald en voor een ander z’n neus gezet (later werd dit nog wel gefatsoeneerd in de keuken). Het eten wordt op koude borden geserveerd. De helft van de kaart is niet beschikbaar. Personeel loopt in eigen vrijetijdskleding. Mensen die later eten eten bestellen krijgen het eerder en andersom. Het vlees was niet van de beste kwaliteit: vol met vet. De patat was niet te vreten: koud, zacht. De kok / eigenaar is een verhaal apart. Je hoort regelmatig schreeuwende geluiden uit de keuken komen. Op een intimiderende/ tikje agressieve manier komt hij bij je aan tafel. Na het eten kregen we beide last van de maag. Kortom een bijzondere ervaring maar we komen hier niet meer terug.

Stumbled upon this restaurant on a Friday evening looking for a place for a dinner. It is a greek-italian (?) place. The menu has tons of food but many of them are unfortunately out. The place gives out a shady vibe when we entered. The food is very cheap relative to some of the restaurants on the same street and the portions are huge. The waiter is friendly (perhaps over-friendly imo) and he runs both the kitchen and the ordering at the same time. Our garlic bread fall on the table when he brought the food but he just put it back with his fingers as of nothing has happened. I don't know what it is but this place doesn't give me a good vibe. Sorry not would not recommend.

Niersteenverzamelaars zijn hier uiterst welkom, veel zout op alles. Dikke pizza's met niet zo verse ingrediënten. Aardig veel vet op alles en mooi dat het lijkt alsof de pizza's uit de steenoven komen. Maar toch doet de bediening alsof het een hoogwaardig restaurant is.

Gekomen met een groep van 20 man. Het vlees was lekker, bij sommigen smaakte de groenten vreemd/ over datum. De service was bijzonder vervelend, opdringerige man. De rode wijn die ik had besteld was erg vies, de witte wijn was naar smaak aangelengd met water en nog een stuk goorder. Bier was ok, maar vermoeden dat er deels alchohol vrij bier is geschonken (was een gratis blaastest op Neude, waar een stuk lager prommilage werd gezien voor de hoeveelheid bier). Als je voor een redelijk goedkoop prijsje veel vlees wilt is dit ok, maar eigenlijk zou ik dit nooit aanraden.

Aardige bediening maar daar is ook alles mee gezegd. De pizza was compleet slap van de hoeveelheid olie en de kaas smaakte alsof die niet meer van de juiste datum was. Toppings op pizza’s die niet op de kaart stonden vermeldt. Smaakte naar de meest vieze diepvriespizza die je kan halen. De los lopende kat binnen die ook op de stoelen zat zorgde al gelijk voor een niet hygiënische uitstraling. De zaken verlaten met een misselijk gevoel en zullen ook niet meer terug komen.

Absolutely great place for students to dine in. The pizzas are dirt cheap, 7,50 right now if you eat in, and you get what me and my friends call; a whole lotta meal. It's very cosy inside, there is a very nice white cat walking around that's so we'll behaved, she doesn't even eat a piece of meat that falls on the floor. There other greek dishes are a little more expansive, but you literally get like 1,5 portion. It tastes great. The place has been there since 1984 and is now almost going out of business because of COVID. Please try it once, you won't be disappointed. I've been eating there since I was a kid and you eat there whenever we get the chance with my friends. The music and decorations are definitely a little kitch, but that's just the fun of it. The food definitely isn't kitch, and the chef is so Greek you probably won't even understand what he's saying. Absolutely great place to eat, and a great value for students. This guy lost almost all his business to takeaway places, so please try it out, it'll be worth it for a hungry student or family.

Wij zijn een nachtje op bezoek in Utrecht verblijven in het Intel hotel maar ook hier bezorgen ze gewoon misschien 2 min te laat maar kregen gratis blikje drinken bezorgen was super lief en het eten omg echt zo lekker lang niet zo lekker gegeten echt een aanrader hoor toppers 10++

Good meat grills, good delivery, huge portions. I only tried delivery because of lockdown. A waiter or a chef himself performs the delivery and it's super friendly.

Ordered on Thuisbezorgd. Delivery was on time by the chef himself. Simple cooking with no extravagant flavours. Huge huge portions of Lasagna and Penne Pasta...each box was almost a kilo!! The grilled meat combo of chicken skewers and lamb cutlet with salad and fries was huge too but I think he missed giving the rice portion. No worries. 2 free cans of soda was probably the comp!! Each portion is good for 2 meals!!! So tomorrow's lunch is sorted too!! Very very VFM.

Meneer en mevrouw Jacks zijn de beste gastheer en gastvrouw in Utrecht. Niemand geeft zoveel om hun gasten als zij! Perfect voor zakenlunches, of een theetje met je schoonmoeder!

Dit restaurant ging al onze verwachtingen te boven. Bij binnenkomst liepen we een stukje zeldzame inspirerende Griekse geschiedenis in. Prachtige druiventrossen, wijnbladeren en muurschilderingen aan het plafond. De gastvrouw heeft een geweldig gevoel voor timing en humor. De chef kwam ons adviseren over zijn specialiteiten. Griekse Ouzo van het huis en Griekse gitaarmuziek bracht ons verder in vervoering en in contact met onze innerlijke Aristoteles en Heracles. Een totaalervaring om niet te vergeten. Een echte aanrader!
