Helal burgers & shoarma Kanaleneiland in Wijk 08 Zuidwest

This place is a real rip-off. Just look at what they show as an example and what they actually serve in the photos. Incredibly expensive. Moreover, they use the worst/cheapest bread, although they claim otherwise on the poster. The taste? Just mediocre, nothing more. Just stay away.

Incredibly expensive and unfriendly staff. Charges 75 cents for a small container of sauce.

A so-called special offer for a €6 doner kebab, but you get small bread rolls. In that roll, there is more lettuce than meat. 4-5 small pieces of meat, so in short, a lettuce sandwich. Never again.

The food is absolutely excellent, but you keep raising the prices. It just doesn't make sense anymore to charge €19 for a large kapsalon or €29 for a bowl of shawarma. Who comes up with something like that?

Saturday, January 24, 2026. The food was delicious and nice and hot. I understand the prices have gone up. But that's unfortunately the case with everything these days. You do get quality here. I like the chicken lahmacun the best. I don't like small kapsalons because they contain more fries than chicken. That's why I always consciously choose the largest kipkapsalon. Because luckily, there's more chicken in them. Sauce bottles are just on the table, of course, and the toilet is nice and fresh. The toilet is locked, but it's only free if you order something there, and you have to remember to ask the cashier for a coin. One napkin with your meal isn't enough. That's why I always bring my own paper towels. Kids sometimes make a mess. I think it's a real shame that the nice old Turkish man who made the pizza dough is no longer there. He was a really sweet man who greeted you when you came in. It's quite different without him. This place is clean and tidy, wheelchair accessible, and suitable for people and children with autism. This cafeteria is located in the Nova Kanaleneiland shopping center in Utrecht.

You can taste the extra time they put into preparing food. It's nice to have a place where they go the extra mile.

What a terrible place! Chips and shawarma cost almost €20! Hot wings pink inside. They do everything with their dirty hands. If you want to get sick, go ahead!

I'm completely done with this place. Every month the prices go up, and the food definitely isn't getting any better. They pretend no one notices, but meanwhile you're paying more and more for less and less quality. On top of that, the customer service has seriously deteriorated. The staff sometimes don't even look at you, and you feel more like a nuisance than welcome. Since that older gentleman left – who hasn't been there for two months – the whole atmosphere has vanished. He used to bring a sense of friendliness, attention, and warmth. It was a much nicer place with him. Now it feels cold, disinterested, and completely unwelcoming. I think it's truly outrageous that a place can deteriorate so much in such a short time. Prices up, service down, atmosphere gone. I'll NEVER come here again.

Disgraceful place. €17.50 for fries and shawarma without salad, and then they charge €1 to use the restroom. When I asked for Andalusian sauce, I was told, without hesitation, that I had to pay €1 for that too. Seriously? I spend almost €20 here, and they're still begging for change for sauce and restroom use. This Helal is truly awful and can't compare to the Helal on Kanaalstraat in any way. A waste of time and money – skip this place and drive the next kilometer to Kanaalstraat, where you'll at least get your money's worth. This place isn't worth a 1/10; if you eat here, you might as well throw your money away and have fun doing it. Ugh, this place needs to change its name or close down soon. It's not worthy of Helal Shoarma on Kanaalstraat.

I've never had such bad fries and shawarma. €17.50 for a small amount of meat with lots of fatty chunks and fries covered in oil. Half of it was thrown away!

I recently had the pleasure of eating at Helal Burgers and Shawarma in Kanaleneiland, and it was a fantastic experience! The shawarma was perfectly seasoned and wonderfully tender. The portions were generous, and the side dishes, like the crispy salad and freshly baked fries, made it perfect. The staff was friendly and the service was fast, despite the crowd. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic and flavorful shawarma. Definitely worth a visit!

Way too expensive 13 euros for pizza with meat

Unfortunately, this chicken burger was a major disappointment. The meat did not taste fresh and had a strange, stale aftertaste. The burger was also very watery. The texture was soggy instead of crunchy. The bun was also soggy and not toasted at all. The sauce couldn't save the whole thing - more of a soggy mess than a tasty burger. I politely indicated that the burger had bad taste. I was told; this is a “chicken burger” (duuuuuuh), this is our best-selling product. What could be wrong with a chicken burger. Just because it's your best-selling product doesn't mean it doesn't taste good at that moment... I've eaten a chicken burger from you before. This was really disgusting. You could also have handled it differently. Instead of such a stupid response. ABSOLUTELY not recommended.

Don't be listened to, the food is inedible and the prices are terribly high

Meat is delicious, both chicken and beef, shawarma is delicious. But don't order pide or etli ekmek here, this is far from pide or etli ekmek, scandalous. Disaster actually. Tastes like black pepper and doesn't look good. But if you want to eat delicious shawarma, then you've come to the right place.

Bad potatoes, doner kebabs, minced meat, no service, everything extra is paid and even the toilet is paid. It's sad for a Turkish place.

If you shout through the shop that a customer forgot to pay for a drink and it turns out not to be the case, you really don't understand anything about service.

Very expensive and the Turkish pide + Turkish pizza is certainly not recommended. The dough is not chewable. ROCK HARD. 2 Turkish pizzas and an ayran cost me €15. Ridiculous place. Never come again. Give me fries with mayo and a can of coke across the street. Greetings Jacques

Called HELAL SHOARMA experienced as HARAM SHOARMA. 1 fries shawarma €17.50 Durum chicken €9 No words.

It was the first time and also the last time with a halal burger. We paid €8.50 for 2 fries without! Crazy for words. We thought it was in rather poor taste. At a fries shop you get 3 fries without and full of flavor for that price! They forgot to give us drinks. When I came back to pick it up, the employee acted as if his nose was bleeding and was not friendly. Like it was my fault. Taste of the meat was also crappy. It tasted like it had been reheated before. Paid €73 euros for two adults and two children. I understand that everything has become more expensive, but I must say I felt cheated that day. At a “real” restaurant in Amsterdam where we eat out more often, you can eat DELICIOUS food for a few tens more. All in all, worthless!

Most expensive, Turkish pizza is already 4 euros here and a hair salon is 11 euros. If the food was tasty it wouldn't be a problem, but the meat was not tasty and the durum doner was covered in oil. Shame
