We had a delicious meal last night, and the service was very friendly. We'll definitely be back.

So disappointing. The staff doesn't speak Dutch. They try their best, but serving is simply putting it on the table and figuring it out for yourself. The food arrived before the drinks. I ordered a pizza, which I personally wanted to put back in the oven. The peppers were too crispy, and the dough was barely cooked. The pasta was quite tasty, although you have to wonder if they're cooking meat just to make it. I ordered ice cream for dessert in a cookie cup. It was placed on the table in such a way that my stomach started churning at the thought of eating it. The atmosphere is great, though. A lot of time and money has been spent on the appearance of the restaurant and the decor. If the food had been good, the staff had asked once if it was good... ...never again...

Our visit to Happy Italy was a complete disaster. The pizza was ice cold, with raw peppers and onions, and undercooked dough. The pasta was no different: cold, tasteless, and clearly not freshly prepared. Unfortunately, the service didn't make matters any better. Hardly any Dutch was spoken, making even simple questions difficult. Our table wasn't cleared, and ordering an extra drink was simply impossible—we were completely ignored. As if that wasn't enough, everyone felt awful the next day. This restaurant has been permanently removed from our list. What a disappointment.

Supperrrr delicious food and good quality

Well, I'd say it was a mixed bag. I had the truffle risotto, which was really delicious, and the two pizzas we ordered were also okay, but the pasta carbonara was truly inedible. I have no idea what caused it, maybe the ham/bacon was rancid. My daughter managed to force down a few bites, but after we all tasted it and confirmed it was awful, we left it. 🤢 After that, I ordered the cinnamon roll coffee... a huge pile of cream with a sip of coffee for €5.90 😕, not really recommended. 👎🏻

I went out for dinner with my boyfriend tonight through Social Deal. Luckily, we were helped immediately upon arrival, compared to the rest of the evening. The staff wasn't welcoming; we waited a long time for someone to come to our table, for example, to ask if we wanted another drink. This only happened after we had been sitting with empty plates for 10 minutes, after being asked "if we'd finished eating." The staff were eating in the restaurant themselves, while one guy was doing almost everything by himself. Speaking of the food: my boyfriend had a truffle pasta and I had a pasta carbonara. I should have called it "pasta North Sea," it was so salty. My boyfriend also thought his pasta tasted amazing. I don't think this is typical when ordering through Social Deal. Because Social Deal or not, this was simply awful! By the way, if you don't speak English, eating here will be very difficult. Actually, the atmosphere is 3 stars, but my boyfriend and I made it 5 stars ourselves.

"Never again Happy Italy – extremely bad experience" Yesterday (November 8th) I ate at Happy Italy with my family using Social Deal vouchers. It started off badly: the food was mediocre, drinks expensive, and the staff unfriendly. Plates were literally thrown on the table. I had indicated in advance that I was coming through Social Deal and received a separate menu. When I went to pay, it turned out my reservation "wasn't in their system," even though I could clearly show the confirmation on my phone. Nevertheless, I had to pay for everything again. The manager – who refused to give his name – reacted aggressively, threatened to call the police, and even took photos of me. The staff refused to give his name. I left in an argument and therefore paid twice: once through Social Deal and once in the restaurant. I've never been treated so poorly. Even at an average fast-food chain, you get better food and decent service. I am filing an official complaint about this with Social Deal and Happy Italy's head office. Further steps are also being taken, because this kind of behavior has no place in the hospitality industry. In short: a waste of time and money – never again Happy Italy for me and my family.

Good, tasty, and affordable pizzas—in short, exactly as they should be. Unfortunately, they do come with those tiny 0.2-liter drinks that, like in most restaurants, charge a premium. Hopefully, they'll do something about that.

Very bad... staff arguing among each other... pizza and pasta were really not tasty.

The pizzas were delicious, but if you want to take the rest home, they forget to tell you that a pizza box costs €0.50 extra. Drinks are also quite pricey. The pizzas arrived very quickly, but we waited half an hour for the ice cream. It's also very disappointing that the staff barely speaks Dutch.

The food is delicious. Large portions, reasonable prices. It gets very noisy when it's busy, and the sounds in the large space make it difficult to hear your fellow diners. A large number of the staff don't speak Dutch, which isn't a problem in itself, but it does make it difficult to understand them (we speak and understand English well).

Service was slow once order was delivered and the pizza wasn’t the best

Ordered two pasta carbonaras. They were on the table in three minutes. Way too much pepper. The bacon was undercooked.🤮 We reported it to two colleagues, and we didn't get a replacement or pay. We didn't eat the food. It was simply inedible. I'm absolutely dissatisfied with how it was handled. NO compensation, no hot or new food. Absolutely scandalous. Never again.

2024: Our daughters shared the children's portion. It was fine for the 7-year-old, and the 4-year-old still had some left for us. Our pizzas were large and delicious. But we were also hungry and actually ate them all. 2025: Fast service, paying took a while. Everything was very tasty. Still large portions. But takeout is no problem. Both at our table and at the table next to us, one of the waitresses didn't speak Dutch or German, but only English. So the children couldn't order themselves. But we had another waitress later, who seemed to be okay.

I recommend not only pizza but also pasta.

The food was good. But the staff's Dutch is broken, which is a real shame; they often don't understand you. I went out for dinner there with my son last week. We both ordered a pizza, and they brought three. Later, we had dessert; we both ordered a tiramisu, and only my son got one.

Happy Italy?? More like mad Italy! The service was terrible and rude. The pizza was just thrown on our table and almost hit my girlfriend. The pizza wasn't cooked, and the cheese tasted like it had been sitting in the cupboard for 10 years. We weren't allowed to sit anywhere, only at a dirty table. It wasn't worth paying for, and we wanted to run out of the restaurant. FUCKING MESS.

I don't know how the good reviews came about. I was there with my wife. Beforehand, it's not a normal pizzeria. More like a fast-food chain. The only good thing was the pizza crust. Barely any toppings, no flavor, and very expensive. When someone asked if I was satisfied, I pointed out to the young man that there was almost no topping. His response—and I understand it completely—was to turn away and leave. Incredibly rude. Of course, we left more than half. We definitely won't be going back.

If you're looking for food poisoning, you should definitely eat here. The ice cream has been thawed and refrozen several times. Refreezing thawed ice cream can lead to an increase in bacteria and ice crystals. The ice cream was full of crystals, and to top it all off, I found a dead, frozen fly in my scoop. Disgraceful. Get the coffee ready for the NVWA inspector.

Absolutely terrible! The service took ages, and after I found a fly in my dessert, they couldn't even take anything off the bill as an apology for nearly eating a fly. This was because the food was ordered through a social deal, so they wouldn't have been able to remove any loose material. It was disgusting. God knows how long that fly had been in the ice.

I've always been satisfied. This time I paid €20 for two kids' pizzas, and they didn't even offer the ice cream that was listed on the menu.

Terrible service. We arrived with our child and weren't allowed to sit in the play area. The entire restaurant was empty. According to the lady, that's only allowed after 4 p.m.

The waitress and the kitchen staff were really nice, but the food really didn't taste good at all. We had a Margherita pizza, a tuna pizza, and pasta. The pizzas had absolutely no flavor, not even the tuna one 😀 My husband told me to try the pasta, and I immediately had to spit it out. It had flavor, but it wasn't really tasty... what a shame! But it's actually great there; there's a special room for kids to play!

Wie das Essen angerichtet, warm, Aussehen, Zeit, Hunger und Auge gereizt) 9/10 Das Essen war sehr gut angerichtet, es ist heiß und sehr schnell angekommen und hat den Hunger- und Augengefühl gereizt. Für die Kinder gibt es ein extra Menü, und wenn sie gegessen haben, gibt es auch einen Spielbereich. Und man kann sich die Pasta-Sorten aussuchen, falls man bestimmte Nudelarten nicht mag. (8. I was there with my girlfriend because we'd seen the Cinema deal, and it said everywhere that you get a pizza and a cinema voucher for about €15.95 per person. Unfortunately, we ended up paying €50, since apparently, drinks aren't included and the pizzas we ordered weren't "covered by the discount." After this, we walked out, irritated and disappointed. Luckily, we still had our cinema vouchers, but apparently, they only had about €7 on them. So, we ended up paying EXTRA for the movie. The deal turned out to be completely false; you pay for the cinema voucher, plus the pizza, and on top of that, the cinema ticket. This HappyItaly deal was a scam for us. They advertise all sorts of things, but nothing is accurate, which is truly a shame. I never write reviews about these kinds of things, but this time my experience was so bad that I really want to warn others about it. It's all about money. We won't be going back there anytime soon either, the food was definitely NOT worth the money, you'd be better off getting a croquette sandwich from the Appie.

We ate there for the first time tonight, without a reservation, a nice place in a quiet corner, my husband had pepperoni pizza, son salami pizza, daughter vegan pasta with vegan meatballs and I had spicy 🌶 pasta with chicken, it was perfectly prepared and tasted delicious 👌😋😋🍕🍕🍲🍛 the homemade lemon lemonade was also delicious 🍹 we will definitely go here more often 💝

The food was okay, but not outstanding. What I personally found worst was that I had to eat the pizza from a plastic plate, and because of the sharp knife, I was basically eating plastic along with it...

I've been to Happy Italy Enschede three times in seven years. I find it a good, affordable restaurant. Coincidentally, this was my third time using a social deal for €9.45. They have a wide selection of pasta, pizza, salads, and desserts. The atmosphere is great, and the staff is friendly. We didn't have to wait long for our food this time (unfortunately, we did last time, but you can't always be lucky). Drinks are a bit pricey at €3.75 each, but still affordable considering the price of the food. I'll definitely be back!

The worst carbonara of my life: it went in slowly and came out quickly. I only ate it because I was hungry. Italians in the kitchen, but they don't know how to make a real carbonara. No pecorino, just parmesan—it's okay, but it's not what you need. And then they added cream! Every time this pasta is made like this, a grandmother in Rome dies.

Very nice big place with very fast service. We were not allowed to sit near the play area with our child because then the waiters would have to walk too much. The pizzas are covered in black ash from the oven. Your hands and plate are still black from the ash after eating. When you kindly give that feedback to the waiter, he laughs it off with the message "I like that just as much"... My wife's pasta was ok, no more than that. A non-alcoholic beer costs more than 5 euros... Ideal for a quick bite and with promotions via social deal or the cinema combo it is certainly not too expensive. Only regret is that they can't bake a pizza without a black base.

Very good service despite it being half past 6 and very busy. We ordered our food at 18:42 and at 18:51 the food was at our table, really super fast service that you don't see anywhere else. Nice waitress who helped us well.

Good food, but the service needs improvement We’ve been to Happy Italy several times, and unfortunately, good service has been rare. The staff is often slow and seems unmotivated or unfriendly. On the bright side, the food is good. The pizzas are tasty and well-made, and the salads are fresh and enjoyable. There’s a kids’ play area, which is helpful for families, but the playground is quite basic. If you sit near it, the noise can be overwhelming, making it hard to enjoy a relaxed meal.

2 people ordered pizza to eat there. 1 person had to be gluten free, but that was not possible. So she got a pizza elsewhere to eat together at Happy Italy. That was allowed!! But to our surprise we were ordered to pack up and leave a little later!! Never, ever Happy Italy again. And for gluten free you can definitely walk past their door.

Going to Happy Italy is always a nice experience. The food is delicious and the portions are very big compared to the prices. The service is fast and the staff is always friendly and available to satisfy all requests. The location is really nice, there is a beautiful terrace outside and even a kids' area. I highly recommend this place to whoever loves Italian food and wants to eat something nice for an affordable price.

Recensie voor Happy Italië (via Social Deal) ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5) We hadden een Social Deal geboekt bij Happy Italië, maar helaas viel de ervaring erg tegen. Bij aankomst duurde het al behoorlijk lang voordat we ons eerste drankje kregen. Toen het eten kwam, werd het helemaal frustrerend: mijn pasta kwam als eerste, maar mijn vriendin moest daarna minstens een kwartier wachten op haar pizza. Samen gezellig eten zat er dus niet in. Toen mijn drankje op was, werd er niet uit zichzelf gevraagd of ik nog iets wilde drinken. We zaten daar te wachten, maar er kwam niemand langs. Dat geeft je echt het gevoel dat je vergeten wordt. Al met al een erg tegenvallende ervaring. De bediening was traag en niet attent, en dat haalt helaas veel weg van de gezelligheid waar je op hoopt tijdens een avondje uit eten. Hopelijk wordt er iets gedaan met deze feedback, want het concept is leuk — maar de uitvoering laat momenteel veel te wensen over.

Upon arrival, it took quite a while before we got our first drink. When the food arrived, it became really frustrating: my pasta came first, but my girlfriend had to wait at least fifteen minutes for her pizza. So having a nice meal together was out of the question. When my drink was finished, they didn't ask me if I wanted another drink. We sat there waiting, but no one came by. That really gives you the feeling that you are being forgotten. All in all, a very disappointing experience. The service was slow and not attentive, and that unfortunately takes away a lot of the coziness you hope for during a night out. (the ladies who work there have no idea how the hospitality industry works and need to be better trained and monitored because you are losing a lot of money this way with such bunglers working!!! Hopefully something will be done with this feedback, because the concept is nice - but the execution currently leaves a lot to be desired.

Pizza dough is ok however the ingredients are definitely not fresh. Tomato sauce tastes like the one from frozen pizza you can buy in a supermarket. Portion sizes are big however it's obvious that they result in lower ingredients quality

A true Italian experience! We were very pleased with the evening we spent at Happy Italy Enschede. The pizzas were both plentiful and had a true stone oven flavor. The pasta portions were very filling and freshly prepared. The place is spacious and airy, especially suitable for large groups of friends. The service was fast and the staff was very friendly. The price/performance ratio is also very satisfactory. It is definitely a place I would like to come back to. I would recommend it to anyone who loves Italian cuisine!

Bought a Social deal on Father's Day. Reception was very strange and the service clearly did not make us feel welcome. Were assigned a table from far away. Someone was immediately at the table for drinks and the menu. Pizza and two pastas were ready in no time. Shrimp were still cold. Portions were fine. Only staff was absolutely not friendly and did not/almost not speak Dutch, except for 1 waitress. The food was almost thrown on the table. Pizza cut with a blunt knife. For dessert only the choice of 2 balls from 6 flavors. Also on the table within 3 minutes. In short, we were outside again after 40 minutes. The concept of this 'food shed' is completely ours here. We will not be coming back here either.

I visited last week with my friends. The service was so fast and the girl that took our order was very helpful and informative about the different food options i recommend this place cause the food is great and the proximity to the central station and center is lovely.

Although sometimes it can get very busy, the staff are very sweet and helpful. The food is generally very nice and if there is an issue with a pizza or pasta they always change it for me. Even offered a desert for free when I had an issue with my pizza 🍕

Ahh the pizzas were so lovely. We had the pizza Quattro formaggi with the four types of cheese and the capresee pizza. So crispy and tasty 😋. Lovely service as well as very nice playing are for the children. Highly recommend.

Personally I don't like it. Pizzas don't have much taste. Everything goes via a qr code (service only speaks English if you come across it) A bit of a conveyor belt food idea. I'd rather go to La Candela where there is more atmosphere, better food and nicer service. By the way, I spent more money on drinks than on pizza

Happy Italy feels like it has an identity crisis. From the taste to the price, it's like ordering a Ferrari and getting a flat tire on a bike. I'll take real Italian from now on!

According to the prices before and now, there is a lot of difference. We used to come here since 6 or 7 years, before the prices compared to the market were cheap, the quantity was a fantastic and very big portion, now smaller portion, less quality, and 45%expensive... we have to consider again if we go once again or not anymore ...

Pizza is fine, always handy for large groups. I can't recommend the ice cream though, it really wasn't tasty.

If you enjoy overpriced disappointment, this is your place. The waiter clearly missed her calling as a grumpy mime, and the service took so long I considered learning Italian to pass the time. The mushrooms on my pizza were sliced so thin they might’ve been hallucinations, and charging full-liter prices for tiny 200ml bottles should be a crime. Definitely not Happy Italy—more like Hangry Italy.

Nice place to get a pizza in a very convenient location nearby the station and centrum. Food is good, but a little bit pricey in my opinion (though for the Netherlands, it is quite acceptable), the taste is good but definitely not the greatest pizza, but still deserves a high praise. I prefer to get a pizza and eat at home since the restaurant is quite noisy and there are quite a lot of people usually, so keep it in mind. Overall, a nice place to get some food, but a little bit pricey.

I was totally wrong about this restaurant! I ordered a social deal for 13 people for 13.95 euros, including 2 small children who wanted to be close to the ball pit so that we can keep an eye on this. Unfortunately we couldn't choose that, even though all the places inside were empty. Also, no coloring page and pencils are handed out to the children. That was only for children's menus, but we had ordered adult menus. We also had to look for staff who could speak a word of Dutch, so I wonder where they come from. The service was just cold and unpleasant! Smoking on the terrace was only allowed by the staff, we were told, not by customers! A bit strange I would say. So I didn't really enjoy my birthday with my children and 5 grandchildren. Especially because there was no visibility either. A waitress who spoke Dutch was helpful and friendly. I would not recommend going here with small children! Even the pizzas were not cut into slices, so you had to do that yourself with a blunt knife that you could barely cut through! Once but never again!

Great pizza fast service . Initially thought that we had over ordered but the pizzas were sooo good that we had to eat every last crumb!

It's more Unhappy Italy. My daughter convinced me to eat here. Partly because it wouldn't be expensive. Which was disappointing when I saw the map. They charge quite high prices. The two of us paid €55. The atmosphere of the restaurant is excellent. The service was pleasant. But the food was just bad! Nothing was fresh. As an appetizer we had bruscetta, the tomato was limp and so was the arugula. As a main course I had a pasta verdura which was very disappointing. The vegetables had clearly been frozen and were very soggy. The olives had the quality of a €0.59 jar. My daughter had a pizza that she barely ate half of because the meat was not very flavorful and fresh. We won't come here again.

They can't bake pizza... Ordered Hawaiian pizza, raw. Sent it back, they would make a new one. New pizza also raw, conclusion they can't bake pizza.

Heerlijk gegeten! Ondanks de drukte, het was nml Koningsdag. We waren met 5 en allen vonden het eten heel goed en smaakvol. Heel groot restaurant...en mooie details qua inrichting. De ballenbak was groter dan de damestoilet...maar dat is meer een groot event dingetje...dat zie je meer als de stad vol is met mensen. Een aanrader dus.

The pizza's were missing toppings, the toppings that were present were very meager. Due to the meager toppings the pizza was very dry. Beer could help with this, but was extremely expensive (€7.5 for 0.5l). This was on King's day, but I wouldn't come back here.

Very nice restaurant, it's beautiful inside. The food is amazing, service nhe nothing especial. Big restaurant, only 2 toilets.

It took a long time before we got the food, but when we got the food we didn't have the cutlery and it took a long time.

I'm not picky, but as a chef, this is the worst thing my mouth has ever touched. Even McDonald's is better there with their sloppy fries. The cutlery is indicated to you on the side you should eat on (delicious). Would you like to order a starter? No, you get everything in almost one go. It doesn't matter much because the main course is already cold and mushy. Insult to the profession and to our good Italians.

Not edible, ordered but all pizzas were dry and cold, the pastas had no taste whatsoever! Never again.

The food is delicious, many variations in pizzas and pastas. Affordable too. Helped neatly and quickly. We have been coming there with good faith for years. If something goes wrong, they resolve it promptly. Great service and never disappointed. Atmospheric dining opportunity and our children like to come there, they can play in the play area so that mom and dad can eat and talk quietly without having to pay much attention to the kids. Here you can simply eat well and highly recommended.

When I was here the pasta was lukewarm and incredibly bland, I later ate my family's pizza crusts because the pasta was too bland. We asked the staff if they could light the candle, staff member number 1 said she was going to look and then never came back, luckily the 2nd person helped. For the rest, the nutella pizza is really fantastic (:

We have been to Happy Italy Enschede more than 20 times with our children. Good service every time and fast, tasty food with good prices and friendly staff. And the most important is a good indoor playroom for the children.

Large but cozy place. And the pizzas are great!

Service is poor and radiates little positivity. We had to wait a long time to take our order and that for the fast Italian, what you could call an Italian, it's fun for the kids, but even if it were there. If he were to sit any longer, he would not be missed. Portions are getting smaller and you pay more, they are not improving!
