OK, so this hurts a bit. Because three little words turned it from a five star to a four star experience. These words are printed on the bill: 'service not included'. Call me a zeurkous, but what does that even mean? I am somewhat proud that in The Netherlands we have laws and CAO to make sure that everyone gets paid a decent wage. I think I am not the only one quite willing to tip without such texts on the bill, as a gesture when I am happy with the service (as I was tonight). It wasn't cheap either, so one would expect this kind of place to also treat their own people with respect and pay them what they deserve. Apart from this, we had a lovely evening with really good food, nice wines, perfect service.

Super delicious food, highly recommended. We had sushi for starters, although we weren't even sure what we were ordering, but it certainly sounded very "interesting" 😄 And it tasted simply incredible; it was something completely different. We ordered the one with the blue "foam" and were given two pieces of the other sushi as a welcome gift from the kitchen. For our main course, we had the gnocchi and two different cakes for dessert. The food is truly incredibly delicious. The service was absolutely top-notch, the waiters were super friendly, and the location on a pleasant side street was great.

Inventive, tasty food that's plated spectacularly and also happens to be vegan. Clearly someone has put a lot of time and passion into the menu, and it's rounded out with a fun drinks list (nonalcoholic champagne!) and attentive, friendly service. Really great.

Hearth is a memorable creative vegan restaurant and one not to be missed! They take a lot of care in presenting your food. I loved every dish and the experience and service are amazing.

The service is not good : no attention to our requests, no information about food the food is good in terms of taste but the main dishes are overrated and too small - it is better take multiple entry plates than main dish. In addition the dessert was simply frozen that is quite surprising for this level of restaurant We waited 15min for a dessert while they clean up at the kitchen (making a lot of noise in addition) The idea and concept are good but the reality of this restaurant is quite disappointing.

I had dinner at this restaurant with my partner at the end of May during our stay in Amsterdam. Kudos to my partner who found this spectacular little place and chapeau to the entire Hearth team because we had one of the best culinary experiences of our lives. We had a lovely experience here for our anniversary! Luna provided amazing service and even helped us learn some Dutch along the way. Omg, this place is amazing!!! I had a blast there every single time I went: I have been by myself, with my partner and with friends. Such great experiences. The food is delicious, all amazing dishes created by the chef Valentino. The service was perfect, and the team worked well and was super friendly. Our waiter (Saul) was super helpful and funny! I cannot wait to come back when they change the menu and I can try new dishes.

We didn't want to spend time thinking what to eat, just talk, catch up, so we ordered the tasting menu. It was delicious! Curated presentation and the service very detailed oriented. June 2024: Pricey, but excellent! If you book here, you pay €10 pp in advance. This will of course be deducted from the bill. We really enjoyed the interesting creations here. We started with the mezcalita and the yuzu martini, both very tasty. We got a nice amuse from the house. As a starter we had a combination of bread with aioli, the beetroot ravioli and the jalapeño coral. The aioli was soft and airy. The ravioli was served with caramelized onion and a vegan herb cheese. The whole thing came together well with the chives that were on it. The jalapeño dish was nicely put together. We also got some sushi to taste with it, made from quinoa and capers. For the main course we shared the broccoli gnocchi and the spirulina taglioni. I found both dishes very interesting. The ingredients here are used creatively. Unfortunately we were too full for dessert, but we will definitely come back for this. update June 2025: The menu has changed, so that seemed like a good reason to come back. As a starter, we shared the beetroot ravioli, the bread with faux gras and the Mexican sushi. All dishes tasted fantastic and were creatively put together. For the main course, we had the amaranth cutlet. I thought the sauce tasted a bit too much like coconut and the cutlet itself was a bit hard. Finally, we had the semifreddo and the crumble for dessert. I thought the mandarin could have been a bit more prominent in the custard with the crumble, but the tart itself was tasty. The semifreddo was quite a lot, so I would recommend sharing it. All in all, I thought it was a nice experience again, but my conclusion is that the starters are tastier and better put together than the main courses. The service was good again, the staff was nice and the atmosphere in the open kitchen was quiet. The restaurant is a bit noisy.

The food is presented beautifully and is very inventive, however the accuracy is a bit less: some dishes very nice, others only ok and one dish (ramen) not so nice, and none blew me away I'm afraid. Service was fantastic but noise level was on the high side

Beautiful vegan restaurant in Amsterdam. The dishes are refined with a nice variety of options. I also confirm the quality and wide choice of drinks, even with a small selection of mocktails. A special mention for the desserts: super delicious! If you are in Amsterdam, stop by for dinner and you will not regret it. The icing on the cake: the kindness and thoughtfulness of the owner and the waiting staff, whom I thank again from here too!

The best vegan restaurant I've ever had the chance to eat at. Equivalent to a gourmet restaurant in France. Refined and aesthetic dishes, pleasant atmosphere, friendly waitresses. I highly recommend it, whether you're vegan or not 👍👍👍👌👌👌

The entire table had the tasting menu. The menu was not filling enough. Portions were far too small and the entire table was still hungry after more than 3 hours of dining (we only got the starters after waiting 1 hour on a Tuesday). This is really not acceptable for a tasting menu. As for the dishes, they all looked wonderful. But in the end it's all about the taste and this was disappointing for most dishes. No surprising flavour combinations and mainly many of the same flavours. Conclusion: a restaurant that mainly relies on its looks and is not recommended if you want to have a culinary evening.

As a chef, I understand the pressures of running a busy service, and it was apparent that the venue was understaffed during our visit. The front-of-house team seemed overwhelmed possible due to inexperience, leading to a 15-minute wait to be seated despite having a reservation. Throughout the evening, service remained inattentive, with unusually long waits between courses. At times, there was clear confusion among staff about which courses had been served. Unfortunately, the food did not redeem the experience. We opted for the tasting menu, which leaned heavily on the attempt of presentation but fell far short on flavour and technical execution. The sushi-style courses were particularly underwhelming in both taste and texture. A supposed beetroot dumpling turned out to be little more than a thin slice of beetroot—more garnish than dish. The rest of the menu continued to disappoint: dishes were strangely spiced, poorly balanced, and unnecessarily complicated. The tomato noodles, for instance, were completely devoid of flavour. Thick, heavy ravioli lacked finesse that made chewing them a real effort. Several plates included whole corriander and mustard seeds and too cumin that overwhelmed the palate when bitten into. These missteps revealed a concerning lack of technical skill in the kitchen and a confused approach to flavour pairing. The cocktail list echoed the same issues—ambitious and complicated to the point we had a little giggle on paper but lacking refinement and coherence in execution. Overall, the evening felt like an attempt at high-concept dining without the fundamental technique or clarity to support it. A disappointing experience from both a culinary and service perspective. The two ONLY redeeming points of the evening was a really lovely bottle of Chardonnay and the equally lovely server Maya from Poland who was the only server who made any kind of attempt at friendly attentive service, but was running off her feet.

This vegan restaurant is an absolute MUST for non-vegans as well. The food and plating are top notch, as is the friendly staff.Take it from a carnivore, Hearth is well worth a visit. Wouldn’t be surprised if they would get a Michelin star or a Bib Gourmand at the very least!

One of my best restaurant experiences so far. Delicious food, excellent service, nice drinks, good vibe. Overall an easy 10/10! Had one starter and one main course each. And a shared dessert. Which was enough for us. Loved every dish. Also beautiful presentation of the food + cool looking plates. Only downside is that I had not heard of Hearth until now :( But I'm glad I found this gem and I definitely will be coming back. Thanks, Hearth! ❤️

The atmosphere is nice, well-presented and interesting dishes but the flavours didn’t quite match our expectations. Overall the taste was somewhat basic and less than what you’d expect for the price and ambience. Had a main course and a dessert each. We enjoyed, but would not return.

This was my 3rd time eating here and it has always been such a pleasant experience. The staff is always so friendly and welcoming and really make the experience amazing. Thank you to the barmen Saul & Karol, and all the serving staff, Marco, Marco and Mattai (yes there are two Marco’s, they were great) We had the Mexican sushi, fried jalapeños, broccoli gnocchi, teriyaki ravioli, and an assortment of cocktails. Truly the flavors they use create such a unique combination, all of it was delicious. It is not something you can find anywhere else.

The food is absolutely delicious. The atmosphere - so cozy. Staff was very attentive, very kind and super helpful. This is a place to go. For a date, dinner with family or drinks with friends (cocktails are also delicious). Worth every cent. Thanks to Saul, Karol, both Marco's and Mattia for making our evening so lovely.

We got the tasting menu, some of the starters where excellent with unique falvours, however not impressed with the main course and the desert, and unfortunatelly I left still kinda hungry. Overall, a very positive experience.

The dishes are creative, visually stunning - special attention is paid to the presentation - and delight the taste buds: it is both flavorful and delicate, concentrated and persistent. I have to say, I don’t understand the hype. The food was good but the reviews made it seem like it was the best food ever, so my expectations were high. Portions are less than desired, but the quality was great. Unsure if I would come here again, but it is a vegan option with a diverse menu that might be suitable to others.

Waitress was fantastic. Knowledgeable, with the right degree of attentiveness. Thought the food presentation was good. Bowls and cutlery, attractive. Not sure about paper napkins. Sushi starters were fantastic. 4 stars instead of 5 for the food due to the gnocchi dish lacking some textural counterpoint to the gnocchi, making it a little monotonous towards the end. All in all though our favourite meal in Amsterdam, and we had eaten in much more expensive establishments.

The service was genuinely good and one of the staff took the time to explain the food and was thoughtful of any food allergies. Therefore, they accommodated me personally and I thank you for that. A fabulous atmosphere for a restaurant that deserves a Michelin star, and where you can enjoy extravagant but perfectly balanced cocktails. An elegant fusion between Italian and echoes of Asian cuisine. If you are lucky, you can even end the evening dancing, they have a fully equipped DJ boot . I highly recommend this place. note: i forgot to mention that this is a vegan restaurant, I forgot it because the food is so good that you’ll not even notice it if you are a not vegan like me. Oh! I love this place!

An inconspicuous place from the outside, but nicely decorated inside with soft beige colors, choice of furniture makes it look spacious. Professional team that combines very tasty and complex flavors and also puts it on your table like art. Presentation is also very careful. Good size of the menu. What bothered me a bit is that it became noisy in the course of the evening in combination with music. I would like to come here again because I am so curious about other dishes!

Me and my sister are visiting Amsterdam for a few days and as a vegan I am always looking for good food, rather than just burgers and junk food. Hearth did not disappoint! It’s a little further out of the main city, we took the 52 metro, but so worth it! The service was excellent, Luna was very friendly and attentive, explaining all the dishes as she brought them out. There was Mexican inspired sushi, oyster mushroom scallops, broccoli gnocchi and the most wonderful tahini cake. I will not stop thinking about this food for a long time!

Great discovery experience! All tastes are offbeat, smooth, intriguing and positively unexpected. I would say it’s worth a try. Staff is suuuper friendly, special mention to Saulo and the Italian server that I didn’t got the name of. The atmosphere is super cozy but also elegant with beautiful paintings and pictures on the wall. They have an open kitchen so you can actually see how chefs are working. Super recommend it.

Interesting restaurant: a surprise booking by my husband, we took the tasting menu and were amazed and enthralled by the intriguing and tasty menu choices. Pricey place but we had lots of decent sized samples and the whole export is like a lesson in flavours! Very friendly staff. Acoustics a bit tricky for me but not loud for a weekend night. Live DJ at the bar a nice touch.

It was a good experience. The sushi with Mexican influence was great. The red ramen and the broccoli gnocchi with sun-dried tomato sauce were also very good. The desserts left a little to be desired: the coconut cake was a bit dry and the black sesame semifreddo was nothing special. For the price, I expected much more. The service was very attentive and polite. The place was cramped and noisy.

The staff at Hearth helped take our gala dinner to the next level. Cozy, great service and the range of flavours and textures they could create with just vegetables was both refined and surprising. For the daring, the cocktails are willing to go for flavour profiles you rarely see, there is nothing old fashioned about their take on the 'old fashioned'.

An absolute must for anyone visiting Amsterdam - especially if you enjoy fine dining and require a plant-based diet. Everyone is so friendly, and it is clear they have a lot of passion for what they do. The food is incredible - particularly the black charcoal ravioli. This isn't your standard vegan option - there has been a lot of skill and thought put into the food and menu. My only regret is that we didn't order the taster menu, as all of the dishes looked and smelled incredible.

We had a wonderful experience at Hearth yesterday. The staff was absolutely lovely, especially the waiter who served us throughout the evening. We had the tasting menu which was just delicious. It included two beetroot dishes, and even though beetroot is something I have disliked my entire life, I loved both these dishes. I liked the bold combination of flavours. The cocktails were also amazing, very well-made. Some things could be improved: the portions were really small and we left hungry. Before going home we even had to stop at another place to eat, that's how hungry we still were. I also thought the food was really expensive. We spent 150 euro on food and we still had to eat somewhere else. If the portion sizes would be bigger, you would get better value for money. The desserts were also quite underwhelming, flat in flavour, as opposed to all the bold savoury dishes that we had. My favourite dishes: beetroot rawvioli, jalapeños tempura, cauliflower tartare My partner's favourite dishes: Syrian sushi, jalapeños tempura

A pre-booked treat for our short visit to Amsterdam from the UK. The warm welcome and atmosphere was striking from the offset. We had cocktails to start which were perfectly mixed and each to its own superb glassware. Starters and mains offered next level vegan dining which is always such a treat. Again, the serving ware was chosen for maximum effect to complement the beauty of the food. The DJ and vibes were mellow and cosy for eating and listening. Just being there, being taken care of with so much grace and humour, just taking it all in, was just wonderful. What a gift. Thank you.

I was able to get a last minute reservation here (at the bar). I had the full menu available to me and let me just say the food was fantastic. The service was great too! I really wish I had a longer stay in Amsterdam, so I could eat here again. Ask for recommendations on what to order--you won't be disappointed!

Came back here for the second time after a good experience some years ago but was left disappointed. The good: the cocktails are great. The bad: the food was meh and generally overpriced The ugly: service is not included and you're supposed to tip which is... something better left to the USA, not the Netherlands.

The atmosphere and service were impeccable, but the food, especially the main courses, was, in my opinion, too heavy and too oily.

Without a doubt, best vegan restaurant so far I’ve ever been to. Not just in the city, but anywhere. Hearth is the perfect place for a date night, especially if you go for the tasting menu, which lets you share each course. As an Italian, I have to say their pasta was incredibly well made, but honestly every dish had such a thoughtful mix of ingredients and flavors that I was genuinely surprised more than once. It’s just really, really good. Plus, chatting with the staff between courses made the experience even more enjoyable, they’re super friendly and open to conversation. I’ll say it again: it’s really good.
