Vegan Temple Bar in De Weteringschans

I was here the day before yesterday. Everyone was super friendly and very attentive. The wait was perfectly acceptable. I had the Burger D'Italiano in a pink bun, with a chicken patty, mushrooms, tomatoes, lettuce, and caramelized onions. It came with homemade fries, mayo, and a small Pepsi Cola. Everything was excellent, tasted very good, and the decorations were meticulously detailed, in my case with lettering made of ketchup. To be more in keeping with the burger's name, I would have expected arugula instead of lettuce, but it was delicious anyway. I was very happy that you could also sit outside. However, the street is very narrow, so cars/vans drive right past your table, and you can see, among other things, the garbage cans of the neighboring buildings. My recommendation would be to put up privacy screens or place tall flowerpots with tall plants to create a visual barrier. The floor was a bit uneven, so the table was tilted. Perhaps just putting a slat underneath would certainly improve the guests' comfort. ;-) All in all, I was very happy to have found you during my visit to Amsterdam!

Fantastic to see an all vegan restaurant in Amsterdam, which is NOT a very vegan friendly city, where most places don’t even know what veganism is!!! The staff were very friendly/ polite and the food was pretty tasty too. I would highly recommend the shrimp starters, as they were very realistic and delicious, where I am still thinking about them now! My only gripe would be that the cost was very high, but then again so is everything in Amsterdam, where at least the portion sizes were generous. Also, it is appreciated when staff do not take plates away from one person if others are still eating, as it gives the feeling of being rushed. Lastly, the toilets really should be a lot cleaner, as they were pretty disgusting, but that’s something easy to fix. Overall, two very happy customers and would highly recommend a visit, especially if a vegan! P.S. I liked the artwork/ text you had printed on the walls promoting veganism with thought provoking facts.

food was excellent. there were two people serving us, one was amazing but the other, there was so.ething a little off about the customer service. not necessarily rude or anything, just a little awkward.

Very good and extremely tasty food. We've never had such good vegan food before. There's no reason to complain about the prices; they're capital city prices. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. If we're ever in Amsterdam again, we'd go back.

We love the place and the burgers where delicious!!! We ask for gluten free options and we could chose from a variety of options. The attention was great . We went with a friend that it’s not vegetarian and she really enjoyed the burger!!!! It became our favorite restaurant in Amsterdam !!!!

5/5. The food is great, the service was great, and the price per person is fair. We went there yesterday, both of us each had a burger (served with fries) and enjoyed it very much. Will probably go there again before our vacation ends, because the food is so good. Can only recommend! Edit: we went twice more. Got the Falafel Rainbow Bowl both times and it was also amazing.

Mediocre food. Bad service. Good atmosphere. I ordered a truffle burger, with home made fries and a sunshine smoothie. I couldn’t smell or taste truffle, fries were overly salty and a sour smoothie.

Excellent vegan restaurant, the dishes are exquisite and generous, the staff very warm and helpful (the waitress speaks very good French) The decoration of the room was handmade and it is truly superb. I highly recommend this address for all vegans. Thank you for your welcome despite the late hour

Please check if your pasta is indeed vegan. I suspect there are eggs in the pasta.

We came here for a small snack and it was really good! The restaurant is all vegan and they offer plenty of authentic vegan dutch food. We tried the loaded fries and the Bitterballen and it was both amazing! The proces were reasonable and I would go there again!

Vegan Temple Bar – A Mixed Bag of Bites and Vibes... I recently visited Vegan Temple Bar in Amsterdam, and while there were definitely some highlights, a few odd choices kept it from being a fully satisfying experience. Let’s start with the food. The burger was okay—not bad, but nothing that stood out in a city that offers some truly excellent vegan options. What did impress me, though, were the fries—crispy, golden perfection—and the truffle mayo, which was rich, flavorful, and honestly addictive. If I came back, it would be mostly for those two alone. That said, the presentation left a lot to be desired. Serving food on old wooden cutting boards that looked worn out and slightly grimy didn’t exactly scream clean or appetizing. It might be meant to be rustic, but it just came off as a little unhygienic. To make things stranger, there was ketchup “art” smeared across the board in some kind of decorative attempt—which seemed not only unnecessary but also wasteful. The ambiance also took a hit when someone from the kitchen—possibly a manager or chef—was loudly berating staff in English. It was uncomfortable and really killed the chill vibe the place is trying to cultivate. All in all, while there were definitely some standout bites, the overall experience didn’t quite match the potential. I might return eventually, but probably only if Amsterdam’s many other fantastic vegan spots are off the table.

All of the food at the Vegan Temple Bar was really amazing. The beyond burgers with fried were extremely delicious and the falafel salad was also excellent. The drinks also were very tasty. The staff was very nice and the location was beautiful. This vegan restaurant really is a must-eat in Amsterdam and I can only recommend it!

Carbonara was great, highly recommend it. Very creamy and the bacon flavour shines through quite well, it was also a huge serving!🍝 However, we were slightly disappointed as the burger was decent but the chips were quite stale & likely reheated, as they weren't hot but super dry. Fantastic service though, and overall a good meal :)

The food was incredible and hit the spot! Started with the Apple Pie - it’s a not to miss. Then tried the Chicken L’italian burger it was perfect, light, fresh, crispy! The stroopwaffle was excellent as well. Friendly service that gets complimented by those dining in! Highly recommend.

I was absolutely thrilled with my visit to this restaurant! The vegan food was not only very good, but truly surprised me – creative, fresh, and full of flavor. Each dish was prepared with great attention to detail, and the ingredients seemed to be of high quality and well-matched. I was particularly impressed by the variety on the menu – from hearty main courses to delicious desserts, all purely plant-based and incredibly delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. You can tell the passion that goes into making this place. A real highlight for anyone who loves vegan cuisine – or simply wants to try it. I'll definitely be back!

I have celiac disease and am also vegan. I saw on the menu that you can have gluten-free buns with every burger. However, I was a little disappointed. For people with celiac disease, only one burger (the Smokey Temple Burger) is as safe as it gets. The fries are also unacceptable. Everything is cooked in the same fryer with gluten-containing food. That's a real shame, because it could actually be simpler... Hence one star deducted. But the burger, which I didn't really want, was good. 😊

The food was fantastic! We had a couple of different burgers, and some shareables. The place was busy but despite this service was decent. Walkable from Marriott Amsterdam and Rijksmuseum. A couple of requests were missed (small plates, napkins) so rating service as 4/5. Must try for vegetarians and vegans in Amsterdam.

Vegan Temple Bar is nice enough. It was our first night in Amsterdam and we were hungry. The staff were friendly but the service was very slow - around 40 minutes from ordering and our tap water wasn’t brought out till after I asked again, halfway through our main course.. not sure if this was because we were sat outside. I had the avocado burger and sweet potato fries and my sister had the classic burger. It was tasty but quite expensive for what it was. I also had the apple pie which was really good, the pastry was amazing.. it could have been even better if it was warm but I’m not sure if that is how it is served in Amsterdam! I am always grateful to find exclusively vegan places to eat so this is a good find.

We were a group of five people, looking for some food and drinks after a conference. The food was wonderful and, of course, vegan. However, it was the wonderful hospitality and staff that made the place fantastic for us! Would highly recommend.

The food was delicious, but my girlfriend, who is allergic to eggs and milk, had a severe reaction to the food. She was in pain all day, and that ruined our day (we were only in Amsterdam for the weekend, so it was very frustrating). We asked the waitress beforehand (as always) if it could contain eggs and milk, because of her allergies. She looked at us like we were idiots "because it's a vegan restaurant." My girlfriend only reacts minimally to traces, but this was a severe reaction to a lot of egg. Therefore, I doubt whether everything is above board.

This is the first time I visited vegan temple bar & I have to say it was simply delicious whatever i tried it was up to the mark. I will say it is a paradise for vegan food lovers & I definitely recommend this place.

The carbonara pasta was really delicious and even made you feel full. Unfortunately, the burger wasn't filling, and there are better options. The drinks were really expensive, though, considering they were only 0.2 liters. Overall, I'd recommend it for the taste of the pasta.

I recently visited the Vegan Temple Bar and tried their chicken BBQ burger and falafel – both were absolutely delicious! The burger was juicy and flavourful , with a great combination of textures and toppings. And their behaviour was so grateful.

Absolutely amazing food! I had the Carbonara and sharing bread and it was soooo good!! Honestly blew me out of the water how good the carbonara especially was. Also had a brownie for dessert which was just incredible. Highly recommend this spot for sure

I expected "bread with dips" and unfortunately, something completely different than what I got. Instead of freshly sliced ​​bread, I was served a reheated garlic baguette. Of course, that's more a matter of expectations on my part than the food being bad. My friend had a burger with fries. According to her, the burger was good. There was no sauce with the fries. Ketchup or something similar would have had to be ordered separately. Besides the high prices, my biggest criticism is the service. The waiter wasn't particularly friendly and seemed rather annoyed – especially when my friend asked him to wipe the table, which had fresh bird droppings on it. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend it.

It was a very good experience! The gluten free buns were amongst the best we have ever had. Service was very good and everyone was very welcoming. We had a little issue with the temperatur of one of our burgers, but we got a new one right away!

I was surprised by how the BBQ burger didn’t taste anything other than beyond meat. I couldn’t taste any of the sauces and barely any other accoutrements. The patty was so much smaller than the bun too. Sweet potato fries were good but also pretty standard.

Went alone for lunch today, it seems I was the first since was 12h. Very nice gentleman and food arrived very quickly and super tasty. Went for the Burger Truffle Delight with sweet potato fries and was very good.

The food was incredibly delicious and simply made us happy. The portions were very large, and the appetizers were easily enough for two people. The service was super friendly and we were asked several times if everything was okay. We got the leftover food in a box and we were also able to take the apple pie to go. Overall, a great store with reasonable prices!

Food was alright, nothing special really, but service was really slow, even after most costumers had left and the restaurant was practically empty. Would recommend the stroopwafel dessert though. Bathrooms didn't have soap, yuck. All in all I feel there must be better vegan places in Amsterdam.

There was a hair in my pasta which they had to remake. Felt a bit dirty and dingy inside.

We had CARBONARA PASTA and SALMON & WASABI BOWL, both of which were extremely delicious! The carbonara sauce was creamy and delightful, and the vegan salmon tasted like real salmon, I really couldn't tell the difference 😅🍝🍣 The DUTCH APPLE PIE and the OAT LATTE were just the perfect combination for afternoon coffee break ☕️⚰️

Our first day and what a great place to start the night for food. The burgers were delicious, the bitterballens were perfect and the waffle dessert was scrumptious. Amazing start to the holiday 👌

We dined last night as a table of four. The food was fantastic and could not fault this at all. Unfortunately our service was very impersonal and unprofessional. The server (only guy working) seemed annoyed when we asked for only tap water to drink to begin. He then took away the drinks menu, assuming that’s all we wanted (we’d have ordered more, but for us it hard to get his attention after this). When asking for a refill when our mains came, he again pulled a face and seemed annoyed. We may have spent quite a bit more and stayed even longer, if the server was happy to let us go at our own pace, and enjoy the experience. When it came to paying, we asked to split the bill and he said he could only take one card (even though the bills shows split options at the bottom). I mentioned this and he again seemed upset. After this, entered an amount €8 euros higher. I queried this and again he seemed annoyed. Watch out for this I’d say.

This was my second time coming back to this vegan restaurant, and it definitely won’t be my last! You can really tell the owner puts love into everything he does. Such a nice and friendly guy with incredible customer service, always making sure you feel welcome and taken care of. Highly recommend this spot to anyone, vegan or not!

Sono felice che ad Amsterdam esista un “Tempio Vegan”. Il personale è stato gentile e Ci ha chiesto un feedback a fine cena (questo dimostra che tiene al proprio lavoro). Il panino ordinato non mi ha particolarmente entusiasmato. Prezzo sostanzialmente nella media della cittá. Onestamente mi aspettavo un po’ di più, ma forse la concomitante festa del Re nel giorno della mia visita ha giocato a sfavore (ad esempio, bagni erano affollati e non proprio pulit). In ogni caso, finché c’è vegan c’è speranza.

The food was okay but nothing special. The ambiente is small and cozy. But I really need to critizise the service. I ordered a peppermint tea and got a cup of hot water with fresh peppermint leafs in it. When I put the leafs out, I saw small insects in the waiter. I informed the waiter about it. I got another peppermint tea and experienced the same again. The weiter told me, it's part of the peppermint but it wasn't. There really had been INSECTS in the tea of a vegan restaurant!

Absolutely disgusting! I went safe and ordered a plain burger and chips. The burger was the most disgusting thing I'd tried in my life and the "potato" chips I'd ordered came a Sweet Potatoe disgusting shit! It was horrible and inedible Do yourself a favour. Never ever make the mistake of coming here

Took myself and my partner (who is a vegetarian) to this restaurant and were wonderfully surprised by the dishes. Nice and friendly, multi-lingual staff. As a non-Vegetarian I would LOVE to come back here again.

Great place for a quick fix of amazing vegan food. So tasty. The shrimp are out of this world. Delicious dinning and the cocktails are great for a dry mouth
