Vegan Temple Bar in De Weteringschans

The food was tasty, but it was all finished products. That's ok if you have cheaper prices. But a burger for €21 that only consists of ready-made products is really totally overpriced. We had ordered sweet potatoes from several people, but unfortunately none of them came. And you don't need to charge another €1 extra for sauces. Unfortunately, some of the staff were a bit strange.

Good food but somewhat overpriced and weird atmosphere. We tried two different bowls: both were good but rather simple and with inexpensive ingredients (a lot of rice), which makes the price of about 19€ per dish appear quite high. Also they do not offer any complimentary tap water and sell bottled water at a very high price (3.50 for 2dl or 7.50 for 7.5dl!). Other dishes that were served at neighbour tables (burgers, fries and cakes) all looked really good and we might have tried a dessert had the whole not felt so unfriendly and overpriced.

Very nice restaurant!! There are a variety of vegan dishes, from pasta to bowls to burgers. Many dishes are also gluten-free. For example, there are gluten-free and vegan burgers and bowls. Simply speak to the waitresses. Highly recommended, we were here on 2 evenings. The Falafel Rainbow Bowl, the Falafel Burger and the Classic Burger are recommended.

Pretty disappointed with this place. I don't like giving bad reviews, but I had to for this place. Surprisingly, it had really good reviews on Google and TripAdvisor, but I don't know why... We arrived and waited quite a while to get a menu, not a huge issue, but just led to confusion if it was table service or go up and order. When the food arrived, it was served on chopping boards that weren't clean. The wood had split and had old food inside the cracks. The boards were clearly well used and didn't look clean. Please use plates! Food portions were pretty poor and the burgers were cold. The classic burger wasn't cooked great. Overall, I felt this was a little overpriced. We spent €60 for 2 burgers, a water, 7up and 1 side... Also have cash on you. I wanted to pay with card but kept being asked to pay with cash.

Sooo.. sssoooo good! It is not easy to find a good vegan place where the food is tasty yet very very fresh and of quality. I couldn’t finished all my chips nor order one of the beautiful tradizionale dessert in the vegan version and that’s why I will come back! 😘

Very nice discovery made somewhat by chance. The dishes are excellent, special mention to the pasta carbonara. The service is fast and the staff extremely friendly, especially since we went there on the evening of December 24th. Vegan or not, go there with your eyes closed!

Excellent selection of vegan food and friendly host.

This is an excellent restaurant, there are so many good choices on the menu that we will have to go back to try more! I had the spaghetti carbonara, which I thoroughly enjoyed,, and my wife had the ch*cken and satay bowl (also great). Everyone was very friendly, and the prices certainly reasonable. Recommend.

Our first day at Amsterdam and what a great place to start the night for food. The burgers were delicious, the bitterballens were perfect and the waffle dessert was scrumptious. Amazing start to the holiday 👌

Unfortunately we didn't find it very good. Sure, everything on Leidseplein is expensive, but unfortunately the food here isn't really worth it. Basically everything was fine, but there was nothing special. Vegan burgers in particular are definitely cheaper and better in Amsterdam. The ambience and service didn't really make up for it either.

There is a strange smell in the restaurant. The food is too expensive for what you get. They serve the food on a worn-out wooden plate (not hygienic). Happy with vegan, but this is not so good

It's not easy to find quality vegan restaurants these days but after eating here last night I immediately thought about going back the next day. I went back and the quality was better and better I'm really happy to have eaten here and not to have followed the advice you read on the internet about places where everyone goes and both the quality and the service leave something to be desired. Everything here was truly perfect Surely when I return to Amsterdam I will come here to enjoy another burger.

My partner and I arrived a little later but this was no problem. We received a very friendly welcome. Service was incredibly warm, friendly and FAST! I haven't even mentioned the food yet, but this was the best vegan food I've eaten! It is a charming restaurant where I was able to celebrate my birthday with great pleasure, with many thanks to the staff who made it extra special. 100% recommended!

This was amazing! I had the Classic burger but asked to have it with Cheese. Expected a dry slice of vegan cheese (as mostly it’s like that) but it’s came with runny delicious cheese!! Such good burgers and the fries were really delicious as well. We were the only ones there at that time (21:00) so service was super fast. Looks lovely inside as well and the flowers were real and fresh! Can definitely recommend and will be back should I come to Amsterdam again.

This is one of the best vegan restaurants I have been to. The burgers were delicious and the homemade chips were so crunchy and tasty. Service was great and so quick. Price isn’t too bad either. Recommend to anyone!

Lord have Mercy! Everything was so darn good! We stopped here for a quick dinner before the jazz club around the corner. We shared a few appetizers (mainly because I couldn't make up my mind) and a couple of the bowls. I'm already planning our next trip to Amsterdam so that I can try the burgers, too! Really nice people, great food, and you can't beat the location. We'll definitely be back!

Pourtant adepte de viande et de burgers classiques j'ai mangé dans ce restaurant le meilleur burger de ma vie (sans exagération), les frites de patates douces sont excellentes et les desserts également. A faire à tout prix si vous aimez les burgers (viandards compris) et que vous passez à Amsterdam !

Good seat, quick service. Ambience is very cute, although the toilets could get a little more attention (no toilet paper, no soap, etc.). The food came quickly and was very tasty. However, it has to be said that the price is absolutely exaggerated. Both for the burgers and for the drinks. Almost €5 for a Lipton iced tea 0.2ml. That really can't be the case. The mixed starter platter is good for sharing and you get 4 sauces. If there's anything left over, there's even enough for the fries for the main course. Otherwise you have to pay an extra €1 for sauces (even ketchup/mayo). All in all, good food with a nice atmosphere, but you should think twice about whether you want to spend that much money, even though it wasn't anything particularly unusual/special.

We popped in to order some bitterballen for take-away. The staff was nice and quick, and the bitterballen were delicious. Also, a really good price compared to many places! (10 bitterballen for 10€). Our was safely packed and it even came with mustard 👌🏼

We went here on a recent trip to Amsterdam. Totally blown away by how good the food was, we even went back a second time! The first trip I had the avocado burger which was utterly delicious. I tried the carbonara on the second trip and it was incredible. The owner was so lovely and the whole place had a lovely atmosphere. I'm planning another trip to Amsterdam soon and will definitely be going here again!

Yummy food, very friendly staff! Burger was a very decent size, yet the pasta was a bit on the small size… perfect for kids, a little bit too small for an adult.

Went to Vegan Temple Bar this evening with my boyfriend and our little dog. The service was exceptional, the guys were so friendly and they loved our little dog! We ordered the nachos, carbonara, a side of fries and cookie dough ice cream balls. All of the food was amazing, so fresh and the presentation was beautiful. We will be back for definite. Thank you so much for a great experience!

For me, who is not used to eating vegan, the experience was absolutely stunning, and made me want to try many more dishes on their menu. The only point that could be improved is the quality of the service, but that does not detract from the pleasure of the meal.

More like a store selling vegan ingredients with a small mess attached. Food was tasty but extremely overpriced for the humble menu. On average, an appetizer was 5 euros, main course 15, drink 5 and dessert 5 to 10 euros. Service was polite and friendly.

Friendly service and correct atmosphere, without more. The food is expensive (which is expected in this area of ​​Amsterdam) however, you eat what you pay for. I'm from austria, 2 years ago i was visiting Amsterdam. I came twice in 10 days to this restaurante because it was so delicious! Back home i told everyone, that's the best burger i have ever eaten. This year i was visiting Amsterdam again and i also came twice in a few days. It's still the best restaurante i have ever been, the food is so tasty and the workers very friendly! I really miss it and for sure it wasn't the last time i'll visit you! <3

Service is not good. You are not allowed to use the toilet, even though it's in the restaurant. And even if you want to pay for it. I told the worker/owner I'll pay any amount he didn't care. Addition, I was a customer. Customer friendliness is substandard. I was very friendly with the owner. In a very neat way. But Mr. owner assisted me outside in an unfriendly manner. And kept looking at me menacingly with an angry look. If you want to pay extra for using the toilet, is that not allowed? The toilet is purely for decoration because it is required by the municipality. By the way, the food was inedible. Paid too much for too small a portion. I've been here before but this was the last time!

Mi marido y yo visitamos el Temple Bar en una reciente visita a Amsterdam. El restaurante está muy bien decorado y el personal era amable. Tengo intolerancia a los lácteos y a la soja, y a menudo encuentro que muchos restaurantes veganos dependen de sustitutos de la carne, normalmente a base de soja, lo que no me sirve de nada, y desafortunadamente, el Templo Vegano no era diferente. Mi marido tenía una Beyond Burger con patatas fritas, y yo tenía nachos y un lado de aros de cebolla (ya que esto era todo lo que podía pedir, del menú). Mi esposo dijo que su hamburguesa era agradable, pero sus papas fritas tenían un extraño regusto a pescado - estoy de acuerdo, son sabrosas funky, no estoy seguro si fueron fritas en aceite contaminado. Mis nachos eran agradables, pero el menú era muy limitado para mí, no muy bien.

Delicious food and great service definitely worth the price

Didn't know burgers could be made this tasty! They definitely put their hearts into serving their customers, making you feel welcome when you enter the restaurant and being highly attentive to your every need. This is how a restaurant is supposed to be run.

It’s nice that the menu is fully vegan but I hate to say that it feels a bit like a tourist trap. The quality doesn’t match the price. Also the owner(?) was treating the barista really poorly in front of guests, as he thought that she was doing sth wrong, which made us a bit uncomfortable.

They are lovely right when you walk in! Welcoming and full of fun. The food is yummy and they have equine options. The pasta was creamy, and they celebrated our friends birthday with a song and a sparkler. Also absolutely love that they are open late :)

Best vegan restaurant I've been too so far. I had the Salmon & Wasabi Bowl and it was so delicious. The service was also good and the atmosphere super comfortable. For dessert I had the Chocolate Chip Dough-Chi Balls and omg it was so so good!

I really liked this bar! It's really cool to find a vegan bar, with a lively, well-decorated atmosphere, and friendly and efficient service. Orders arrive at tables quickly. I had wine and ordered two portions: cheezy b*acon fries, which were delicious, and lemon shrimpz. I'm still in love with the texture and flavor of plant-based shrimp. A flavor that reminded me of good times on the beaches of Brazil, but this time, I was able to eat it without causing suffering to the animals. The time I spent at Temple was really cool. It's very worth knowing. The price is fair for the quality of what is offered.
