Herberg-Restaurant "De Boswachter" in Wijk 06 Slenaken

Great location and friendly staff, unfortunately the food was a bit disappointing. The brie sandwich is literally just brie (no honey or walnuts like usual), but you still pay €9.50. They don't have a huge selection anyway, just the standard options. Fine for a quick drink, but I wouldn't recommend it for food.

It took over fifteen minutes before we were helped. The staff wasn't exactly friendly. There were a lot of wasps on the patio. The bittergarnituur (a type of snack) was the most expensive I've ever ordered, and unfortunately, the worst. No bitterbal, but 5 frikandellen (fried meatballs), 2 nasi balls (nasi balls), 1 cheese thing, 2 "vlametjes" (small sausages), and something I couldn't identify. Mayonnaise and a different mayo sauce; no mustard or chili sauce, unfortunately.

Cozy atmosphere and tasty food.

A delicious lunch was very tasty. Friendly staff, beautiful location! The carpaccio baguette was truly amazing. The fried eggs came with plain bread, which could have used better bread.

Yes, this is a top location! We enjoyed delicious coffee and Limburgse Vlaai (Limburg pie). Very friendly service. Lovely large outdoor terrace. We'll be back. It's a great base for hiking (use the Komoot app). There's a very spacious parking lot right across from this place.

We had a wonderful meal here on the terrace in the evening sun. The skewers with tenderloin and pork tenderloin were tender and flavorful. The salmon was also excellent. We've eaten here before when we're on vacation, and the food is always top-notch! The price-quality ratio is also excellent.

We had a delicious meal here with the MTC Zevenbergen, despite the large group everyone had their food at the same time... and they like well-filled plates so even the big eater will be satisfied.

As so often in South Limburg, the prices are on the high side. The terrace can be quite noisy. It took quite a while before the drinks arrived.

Delicious food and definitely worth a stop. Sometimes you have to be patient and that is the new normal. Staff works hard top service 👍

Our annual visit during the Amstel Gold Race. Before the passage on the Loorberg, coffee and pie. After passing a good glass of beer. Delicious pie, very friendly and the asparagus soup smelled delicious.

The terrace is great. You can park your car across the street for free and take a lovely walk from there. Enjoy the terrace after the walk.

Vanavond daar gegeten. Genoten van de uiensoep en het runderstoofpotje. Kunnen niks negatiefs verzinnen. Als we hier in de buurt zouden wonen dan zouden we zeker terug komen.

Wow, they have Peeze coffee here, super tasty. The cherry pie was also delicious. And friendly people in the service!!

We thought it was very mediocre. Meat fried very dry. Also got the wrong thing for everything. But agreed anyway. We got an extra bowl of fries for it. Which was also necessary. Quite a cozy tent. But for that price you can eat better in the area.

December 23 with my daughter I unexpectedly arrived and ate, lovely living room feeling, delicious food. Friendly staff, you really feel welcome here.

Just what you would expect of a “herberg”, an enjoyable time with good food and great drinks!

No expectations given the Google reviews, but we were pleasantly surprised. Helpful and cheerful staff. The food, chef's menu with tenderloin, was very tasty and with unusually large portions. All in all highly recommended! We will definitely come back someday.

Pleasant. Perfect stop during a walk. Don't expect them to give you a lot of food, they are more likely to provide small snacks such as a bowl of soup or a waffle. Nicely decorated cafe with lots of decorations.

Very tasty meal here. Lots of choice on the menu. We had the schnitzel and tenderloin. Good piece of meat and plenty of side dishes included. The service was very polite and took my allergies into account. The terrace is also very nice to sit and not completely built up. Highly recommended

Cozy restaurant in Slenaken, which sits on the edge of the road before you drive up a hill. Nice small building with the appearance of a forest house/mushroom house in terms of colors and furnishings. With beautiful dry and warm days, it is pleasantly busy here and you can enjoy a delicious lunch at Dutch standards. Keep in mind that it can be very busy in the summer, which means it fills up quickly and people have a long lunch (logical). Definitely worth a visit if you are in the area.

Came here for lunch with my sisters on a lovely, sunny Sunday afternoon. They are in a beautiful location where many cyclists and walkers pass by. All three of us ordered a sandwich and a drink. Nothing to complain about here either! The employees were also friendly, but unfortunately that was it. They were rarely present on the terrace and we also had to go inside to pay. This is the only point of improvement, otherwise everything was fine!

Had lunch here today, delicious chicken patty, tasty ice cream and non-alcoholic beer from Gulpener. Cozy atmosphere and appearance and attentive service. Plenty of parking space across the street, we would love to come back here again.

Very cozy, nice and busy (lots of walkers, cyclists, motorcyclists), free parking. Very tasty fresh asparagus soup, with lots of pieces of asparagus in it, delicious! Carpaccio sandwich was also very tasty. And what a very nice, friendly lady at the counter (the young lady with the very short, blonde hair), she really completes it. You would wish an employee like that on any catering company, great!

Nice location with beautiful terrace. Very friendly staff. Cyclists welcome. Tables inside are a bit close together, so it sometimes takes some measuring and adjusting.

Just sat inside for half an hour, still no help.. In the meantime, other guests who arrive fifteen minutes later are being helped. My husband goes to the bar to ask if we can be helped, so no one comes to you fifteen minutes later, scandalous!! Tip: if you can't handle it, hire extra staff!

Unfortunately no vegan options. Good cup of coffee. Taken care of quickly. Pleasantly busy on Friday April 12. Normally (experience only when passing by with a motorbike) it is very busy with good weather.

Tijdens ons verblijf in Epen hebben we weer heerlijk gegeten bij de boswachter. Ook onze golden retriever vond de frikadellen weer heel lekker. We komen hier al jaren tijdens onze vakantie eten. Altijd heel gezellig een goede sfeer en het eten is hier super goed Tot volgend jaar maar weer. Vriendelijk groeten van ons en een poot van de hond Jop.

Zo vaak langsgelopen maar nu eindelijk eens hier gedineerd. Wauw! Wat een gezellige sfeer, aardige gastvrouw en serveerster. Multitasken is hen hier op het lijf geschreven. ( ontvangen van de gasten, serveren, debrasseren, finishing touch aan de desserts geven, vuil goed wegwerken in de lift naar beneden, glazen wassen etc) Wij hebben heerlijk genoten van een vis en vleesmenu. Helaas niet toegekomen aan de frietjes doordat er ook aardappelkroketjes en een heerlijk aardappeltaartje op ons bord lagen. Aanrader dit restaurant!

Leuke tent met prima bediening. Het is is er goed. Jammer genoeg waren de gerechten die we graag wilde bestellen niet beschikbaar, terwijl ze wel op de kaart stonden(wildgerecht in wijnsaus beschikbaar vanaf oktober).

Je kunt hier lekker eten zowel lunch als dineren. Door het tekort aan personeel gaat er wel eens wat fout of men moet iets langer wachten. Maar wij vonden dat geen probleem. Ze hebben het in de horeca toch al moeilijk genoeg.

Gezellig en mooi terras op een mooie locatie. Vriendelijke en gezellige bediening. Saté van varkenshaas was van matige kwaliteit.

Wat een verademing. We hadden iets verderop een nare ervaring, maar dat werd hier zo ruimschoots goedgemaakt! Supervriendelijke bediening, cappuchino met een bakje slagroom en een heerlijke mosterdsoep met wat stokbrood en kruidenboter. Hier snappen ze het concept "verras je klant"!

Supervriendelijke uitbaters met een hart voor honden! Je voelt je hier direct welkom en het eten is er zeer lekker en verzorgd. Wij zaten op terras wat zeer mooi onderhouden was, gezellig met al die mooie bloemen. Komen zeker terug hier!
