Last year, my team and I had a fantastic farewell experience at Restaurant Marie. The location is fantastic, the dishes are delicious and unique, and the service and atmosphere made the experience unforgettable. After a year, this was all emphasized even more today when manager Lucas Diepgrond immediately recognized me and welcomed me as if it were yesterday. Thank you again, and cherish Lucas and the team!

EDIT: the restaurant commented that they will reach out - they never did. My boyfriend and I had a terribile experience here a few months back. I waited some time before leaving a review since I emailed the restaurant about it and was hoping they would try to amend things, but they never even responded. Overall, the food was average at best (Im really surprised by the positive reviews I see!) and the service terrible. The environment is beautiful but does not make up for the experience. I could go on about it but it seems unnecessary... I simply would never recommend this restaurant to a friend.

What a memorable and absolutely delightful lunch at Brasserie Marie! We came here on our son's recommendation (thanks, kiddo!) and were so glad we managed to snag a reservation. Located inside the elegant Hotel de l'Europe Amsterdam, Brasserie Marie strikes that perfect balance -- casually elegant with a Michelin Bib Gourmand menu that feels both special and approachable. You can either go for the Bib Gourmand set (one starter, main, and dessert) or mix and match à la carte. My husband went with the set, and I decided to curate my own three-course adventure. Major shoutout to my hubby for requesting "the best table in the house" -- we ended up with a gorgeous canal view! Watching boats drift by while sipping Champagne? Yes, please. The dining room is bright and airy, with big windows that soak in that Amsterdam light (a total mood booster). Service was spot on -- attentive without hovering, warm without being overly formal. While my husband took a quick work call, I started with a couple of oysters and a glass of Champagne (because, why not?). He ordered the Trout, Lamb, and Apricot dessert, while I went for Artichoke, Vol-au-Vent, and a Chocolate Soufflé. Everything was just... divine. The lamb was perfectly cooked, the trout was bright and flavorful, and the desserts were pure decadence. Our total came to about $240 USD including drinks, and honestly, worth every cent. If you're looking for a memorable, leisurely meal with excellent food, impeccable service, and postcard-perfect views -- Brasserie Marie should be on your list!

I went to this restaurant with a friend after finding it on the Michelin Guide, and everything was amazing from start to finish. The place looked chic and welcoming as soon as we arrived, and the food was incredible — the sourdough bread with brown butter and the trout were my absolute favorites, but the steak tartare, the wine, and seafood starter were also delicious. Our server, Tyago, was super polite, professional, and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Overall, it was such a great dinner, and I’d definitely go back!

Went here for a dinner with the family and we had a great time! We were sitting at the window with a nice view on the canals, the service was amazing and the food was great (desert was less of a success for my pregnant wife, but the rest was great)

Excellent place. We started with the foie gras, which was rich and delicate. We continued with the langoustines, which were super tender and came with a delicious sauce inside. For main course, we shared the entrecot; even though they got the cooking point wrong (we ordered medium rare but got rare), it was fabulous. The side fries and salad were also pretty good. For dessert we had basically a lava cake, which was absolutely delicious. As for the drinks, the old fashioned was alright. The service was very professional and friendly. The wait between dishes was noticeable, but acceptable for a slow dinner. We spent 182 euros for 2 and it was totally worth it.

My fourth time in Marie; always serving outstanding dishes, especially vegetarian, and fabulous staff!

Regular guest here - food is always great but the recent staff picks are shocking. Hostess on Friday evening was awful, rude and not at all up to the standard. Ignored inside an walked us towards to the door before we even spoke. Came in for dessert - seeing the restaurant was far from fully booked (places available online for reservation every 15 minutes). She said no - it’s not possible, only for dinner. Even at the bar - which is never full, she refused to sit us. Said “try the bar, they have some sweets there” and sent us out without any goodbye or any service. Shameful of De’L Europe to have staff like this.

Nice place, but the prices don't compare to the small portions or the taste.... the food is... okey...

We had lunch here today. Recommended by a friend to go and check it out. Wonderful place! We had a nice view of the ‘Munt’ and the staff was so friendly and kind. We felt like royalty. Food was amazing, but I would recommend you have multiple dishes because the serving size is quite small. My wife LOVED the ‘millefeuille’ cake as a dessert, so I suggest you order it and you won’t regret it. Certainly not cheap (we spent about €200) but well worth it and we will definitely come back again for dinner!

Guido from Freddy’s whispered the magic words: “Go to Brasserie Marie.” Well. Lucas and his dream team rolled out the red carpet, treating us like absolute princesses while making sure we stayed just shy of real trouble. We parked ourselves waterside, sipped bubbles, and let Amsterdam show off her lush, glistening self as we unpacked three years’ worth of catch-ups and confessions. And yes — I did all of this in a tracksuit. Mortifying. But somehow, they still let me in, and still made me feel fabulous. Brasserie Marie: my new go-to spot when I want to spoil friends and keep the champagne flowing. 🥂💋

If you like fish and seafood, GO. French sommelier who gives a lot of details on the wines. Prices a little more expensive than the average in the surrounding area.

One of the best meals of my life and definitely the best dinner we had in Amsterdam! Clayron was a wonderful waiter, ensuring we had everything we needed and just by being a wonderful host to us. We would go back just to see him again. The entire staff seemed to be having a lot of fun working together and that created a lovely environment in the restaurant. We got the bread and brown butter to start, the Agneu and the Vol-au-vent for our entrees, and then shared the Cherry Cerise for desert. We also got a lemon drop martini and amaretto sour from the bar. Everything was top tier. Classic French food with a Dutch twist. We will for sure recommend Brasserie Marie to anyone visiting Amsterdam!

Food was great, server was good, atmosphere is great too. The reason i gave them 2 stars is because their portions are too small for their prices. We were still hungry after dinner, and their hostess is terrible. She enjoys using her "little" power over were she sits you, kind of like a government employee. If she hates the public she should look for another job

Had a wonderful lunch here with some friends. We ordered several items on the menu along with wine. It was great to share get taste many of the dishes. We all loved the Tomato the best but overall everything was delicious.

Nice and private environment for private and intimate occasions

L’Europe is always a staple stop for me when passing through Amsterdam. Property & Atmosphere The hotel has elegant touches reminiscent of the Dorchester in London. The brasserie is beautiful, spotless, and well-run. Service Staff are generally very professional, accommodating tight schedules with grace and charm. I’ve had only one negative experience: a French staff member (possibly from Chamonix) was unnecessarily rude when I arrived a couple of minutes before opening with a reservation at 18:00. They told me, “That’s not now, can you move please.” It was unprofessional and left both me and my guest unimpressed. Thankfully, I haven’t seen this staff member again. Aside from that, every other interaction has been outstanding—staff are consistently professional, kind, and attentive. Food & Beverage Food quality is very good and competitively priced compared to the Waldorf and other European capitals, but menus could be changed slightly more often. The champagne list (especially by the glass) could be expanded, though this is a minor remark. Other Notes Terrace heaters could be slightly stronger, but staff provide plush blankets, so it’s not a major issue. Overall An excellent property with refined service, great food, and a beautiful setting. Despite one isolated incident, L’Europe remains one of my top choices in Amsterdam.

Savor delicious seafood and wine on a cozy terrace overlooking the water. This restaurant offers a great view and a wonderful dining experience, complete with friendly, attentive staff.

We'd hoped to sit on the terrace, but unfortunately, the weather didn't allow it. It was also lovely inside, though unfortunately there weren't any tables for 4 in front of the window. We were seated in the middle of the restaurant, where the acoustics weren't great. Otherwise, it was fine! The menu was somewhat limited, and the dessert, the cherry coupe, was really not tasty – all three of us found it too sour. The service was very friendly; they could have been a bit more attentive, though, with the drinks order, as we'd forgotten the flowers. I'll definitely come back when the weather is nice!

Access via the canal wasn't possible; we had to go through the hotel. The food was very good, and the staff was friendly.

We came for Lunch to celebrate my dad's birthday and Lidewij really made it special! I've been living in Amsterdam for 3 years now and she provided probably the best service we've experienced so far :) thanks again for the attention to detail and for the surprise towards the end! The tables are by the water so the atmosphere is also really great, will def be coming back!

Entrance is a bit confusing. Not from the canal. Go through the hotel. Walk through a really classy hall to arrive at the Restaurant. Staffs are very attentive, professional and friendly. We were recommended the Mussels and it was absolutely delicious, unlike most restaurants’ mussels. Highly recommended. The restaurant overlooking the busy canal/streets and you can having a nice quiet dinner in the heart of Amsterdam with good atmosphere. Definitely pay here a visit if you seek for fine dining in Amsterdam

We ordered a bottle of Prosecco which whas delicious, we got served bij farid and joey J two young man with excellent and outstanding politeness. Olives and savoury snack on the house were a great detail as well.

We ate there during a heatwave, unbearable. No fans, behind glass, and umbrellas overhead. It was boiling hot. We reserved a table for €50, but it wasn't deducted from the bill. We emailed several times, but never got a response. How arrogant! Despite the generous promises that they would contact us to rectify the situation, of course, no one has done so yet.

We sat down for dinner - small table for two at the window overlooking the canal and the “munttower” - food is best enjoyed with great company and excellent service - I am not sure I have her name right (Johaneke??) - you made our evening a special one! THANK YOU!

BRASSERIE MARIE We visit Brasserie Marie, one of the three restaurants at Hotel de l’Europe, a few times a year. This is not only because of the fantastic terrace overlooking the last stretch of the Amstel River, but especially because the menu, with its ever-changing dishes, never disappoints. Since Marie's kitchen also falls under the responsibility of top chef Bas van Kranen of the two-Michelin-star restaurant Flore, the quality has remained consistently high. From the (small) yet varied menu, we sampled the veal tartare with oyster cream, the lightly acidic trout with cucumber and trout eggs, and the terrine de campagne with duck liver, eel (!), and pistachio. All the exquisitely presented dishes are characterized by subtle, well-balanced flavors with a fresh acidity. We enjoyed the delicious accompanying Tourraine Les Sauterelles by Lionel Gosseaume from the latest vintage, from Karakter wine imports in Amsterdam Noord. For our main courses, we opted for the perfectly crispy seared rosefish, the vegetarian vol-au-vent with a rich yet refreshing artichoke sauce, the grilled langoustines au gratin with (a variation of) bagna couda, a rich sauce based on anchovies, garlic, and in this case, white wine, and the mussels with beurre de Paris, the latter two actually being entremets. All the sauces were beautifully frothed. With our main courses, we enjoyed Le Gé de Guiraud, the top estate in Sauternes that produces not only sweet wines but also dry wines from the Sauvignon Blanc and Semillion grapes. For dessert, we chose the cérise coupe with meringue, shiso, and delicious sorrel ice cream, the classic chocolate moelleux with vanilla ice cream, the millefeuille with a runny yogurt and lime pastry cream and a strawberry coulis, and the three cheeses served with quince jelly and crispy fig bread. While the cheese portion is excellent, I always prefer it to be larger and more varied. Ideally, you should have a different wine with each cheese, but I chose a fruity red, l’expression de Médoc. When I wanted a second glass, they poured the last of the bottle and said it was on the house. Once home, I noticed that the half-glass had actually been added to the bill for the full amount. So, I still owe you that! The service was impeccable, attentive, and friendly. My hostess remarked that the girls were so elegantly dressed in the dark blue dresses they had previously worn at Flore. I highly recommend eating at Marie's. You'll be seated on one of Amsterdam's most beautiful terraces, even in the pouring rain, high and dry as the open boats full of tourists with umbrellas and raincoats sail by.

We went for the five star, Michelin dishes and we were not disappointed!! Unique, sophisticated, tasty dishes with great service and relaxing atmosphere on the water. We ordered another round of bread for dessert SO GOOD 🍞😅 we had lamb for the main course, it was tender and delicious cooked to perfection.

Brasserie Marie is worth a visit in every way. The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was exquisite and had the right variety. The wine was excellent and probably tasted even better because there was a cozy atmosphere and you sat with a view of one of the many canals. A 5-star visit and we will definitely be back.

decided to come here because it was on the Michelin guide. We ordered the trout starter, which was good, the mushrooms, and we share the lamb. The first dish was the best. The wine was good atmosphere was nice as you were right on the canal watching the boat go by.

If I had known the setting was as fabulous as it was I would have expected poor food but both were fantastic. The mullet, in particular, was great; I just wish they offered bread so I could have soaked up the excellent sauces on both the asparagus starter and mullet main course. The staff was professional yet remarkably friendly. I would definitely return.

Nice location with good food but the whole experience is not good enough for the price

On a summer evening, on the occasion of my birthday, we dined at Brasserie Marie, on the waterfront at Hotel L’Europe — a location full of charm and nostalgia. We started with some delicious Irish oysters — a little extra to kick off the occasion. Then we chose the Bib Gourmand menu, with a trout starter, a lamb main course with fries, and for dessert a rhubarb meringue and a very fresh sorbet, flavoured with a certain herb. Unfortunately, the combination was not balanced and did not suit us. The wines were excellent: two glasses of champagne, a nice Chablis, and a red wine from Provence – a blend of Grenache, Syrah and Caledoc. Tasty, refined and nice with the dishes. Nevertheless, we left the terrace with mixed feelings. The service was moderately friendly, rushed and visibly tired. One of the staff told us that it had been very busy the day before and that was noticeable. The evening was visibly concluded without any real attention to the experience. For a bill of €235 for two people, you would expect a little more peace, genuine hospitality and attention. The place is beautiful, the food is decent, the wine excellent — but the soul and the feeling of being a guest were missing. Hopefully this was a snapshot, because Brasserie Marie, in this unique location, has everything it takes to be special.

A definite 5 star rating on all fronts. Proper fine dining in the heart of Amsterdam for a very reasonable price! The staff show extra care by tending to every little need you might have (f.e. fixing any minor inconvenience or even escorting you to the restroom for the first time) while maintaining professionalism. The food is exquisite! Every dish we got was tender and just melted in my mouth! It's a little pricey, but that's fair and reasonable considering the quality of experience you will get. I def. recommend the place to everyone who wants to have a special evening ;)

Exceptional. My favorite was the Seabass prepared perfectly on the grille. Wonderfully seasoned, ideal choice of butter. I'm so glad we made this a place for mini reunion among friends.

Food made in heaven, as proper Frenchs do. The service is very attentive, one particular lady a bit pretentious but I guess it’s to be expected, haha. Most of the waiters were kind! The room is VERY loud, we even thought about leaving because having a conversation was challenging… we were glad we didn’t leave since the food was just stunning!!! Amazing!!! So flavored!!! Delicious. Also pretty expensive but 100% worth it. Treat yourself here!

The staff were very helpful and friendly. I ordered the Cod and it was the best I'd ever eaten. I ordered the french toast for pudding and that too, was so delicious. My only niggle was that we were at a table in the middle of the room and in addition to people coming and going around us, at times it was difficult to hear the people I was with because other diners' voices seemed to carry/echo across the room. Hence 4 stars but I would definitely book again when I'm next in Amsterdam. However, I would probably ask for a table around the periphery of the room or by the window.

The male waiter, for the orders, wine, and payment, more or less ignored us. His female colleagues were good. The food was mediocre, which made the price/quality not acceptable. I had the same experience before. Don't go there, unless you are a tourist. Amsterdammers can go to other, better and more cozy restaurants.

As a chef, I loved dining at Brasserie Marie. They serve classic French cuisine, revisited with a touch of creativity. Each dish is executed with care, finesse, and subtlety. Excellent value for money. The setting is intimate and elegant, although it can get a bit noisy. If possible, request a table overlooking the canal—it makes the experience even more enjoyable.

Amazing food as always, but service was not good... We didn't have a dedicated waiter and kept having to ask for basic things and try to get their attention- for example after being seated for 10 mins we still didn't get menus or asked if we wanted to order, they forgot our wine when we ordered so had to flag them down and ask again. Was a bit stressful when for such an expensive place it should be more seamless. There were lots of staff but they didn't seem organized. In future would recommend having a specific waiter for each table But was still lots of fub - fantastic oysters, beef and steak tartar! Delicious wines, menu is incredible. We tried the special dessert wine too and it was delicious, recommend trying it

Very comfortable place to have a fancy lunch. It is on the pricey side but you will receive 5 * service and food.

It’s really an amazing location by the water. Service was excellent, food was great, but some of it cold, when we told them our fries are cold they immediately switched them. They apologised for it and explained that the kitchen is far away atm but that this will change.

Disappointed by the cuisine given the prices, classic cuisine which aims to be gastro but which lacks power. Pleasant and good service, very nice location. I found it crazy that the 4 slices of bread were charged €7.50. We ask for 1, we are served 2. One of the guests asks for fries (also charged €7.50) and we are served 2. I don't like this "push" for consumption at all. In short, a very salty addition for a not extraordinary dinner. I really regret

Food quite nice but service still need an improvement. We wait for staff to take our order about 15-20 mins. Most all order need more than 2 times to talk to the staff even with the bill. A bit disappoint for the service at this rate. I already feedback this issues on the day after visit through website.. and yes no respond and update from that

Everything was perfect , except the main dish ( rib rack !?), which was tough to process and inappropriate to serve in terms of its high cost.

Ate here again at the beginning of April. The ambiance was very good. We were given a table in an excellent spot by the window with a view of the Amstel and the Munttoren. We had an excellent meal here with various hors d'oeuvres, various entrées and venison fillet as a main course. Of course concluded with a suitable dessert. By their presence, the employees ensured that service was always appropriate and timely. Cheers!!

Perhaps the worst service we have ever received in a fine dining restaurant! The server took 30 minutes to get our cocktails (after forgetting them), the cocktails were awful, they brought our table the wrong wine, and took over an hour to bring our food. The coup de grace was when we saw a rat (yes a rat!) scurry across the dining room floor. I politely, and discretely, told their head server about the rat as we were leaving and he blithely replied, Yes, this is Amsterdam, rats are common.” He could not have cared less. Amazing!!!

Everything was perfect. A comfortable, pleasant, and delicious meal. The dining room faces the canal, its relatively quiet, and having conversation is easy. And the staff is wonderful.

The food is absolutely high quality! The angus sirloin stake was melting in the mouth. I would award this place for best cuisine and service in the world. The staff made everything to feel comfortable, everything was on time and really polite and professional. Great views, really good choice of wines. And overall the atmosphere makes you really want to come back, especially after the service you receive here.
