We had a delicious meal at the invitation. Excellent service. The sirloin steak in pepper sauce is highly recommended. The pub next to the restaurant was charming and old-fashioned. It was quite busy with people playing cards.

We had a delicious meal, but it was a shame we were put aside. Everyone else was sitting on the other side.

We had a wonderful meal tonight! The service was excellent, friendly, and fast! They were very accommodating with our needs, for example, with dessert. For example, we got delicious ice cream with fruit, even though it wasn't on the menu. The local football team arrived later in the evening. We were politely warned that it might be a bit noisy and were allowed to choose a spot in the other room. The atmosphere is very cozy!

The cozy atmosphere of a good old Irish pub in a village where you wouldn't expect an Irish pub. Besides Guinness, they have many other great beers. The food was even better; I had the enormous house burger, which was fantastic. Highly recommended.

A very cozy place to eat, and if you're looking for something different as an appetizer, try the fried pickles. Truly delicious. And for the main course, the stew is delicious. And believe me, you'll be full...

A really great restaurant. The atmosphere is lovely inside. The food was delicious! Very generous portions and incredibly tasty. The staff was incredibly friendly. We even allowed our dog to come inside with the food. This was a huge plus, as it wasn't very warm when we were there! Highly recommended!

After a walk on the Mantingerzand, we spontaneously settled down on the terrace for drinks, which turned into dinner. It was better than expected. Guinness is poured fairly regularly, the service is good, and you're treated like royalty. We'll definitely go back. Our only tip would be to expand the beer menu and replenish supplies. It was a shame that several drinks and dishes were sold out.

We dined with four people. The mustard soup was tasty, but we didn't find it mustardy, and the pork oyster was disproportionately priced at €34.75. Otherwise, we had a wonderful evening, the desserts were delicious, and the service was excellent.

Unfortunately the service was subpar. It took 10 to 15 minutes for the drinks to be consumed We then looked for our food from the online menu. We then expressed our request for food when the drinks were delivered, which took almost half an hour. It was very empty in the restaurant, but the service took ages for the drinks to arrive and also messed things up. Mind you, the store was almost empty. The meal took a moment, which was perfectly fine. Unfortunately, the empty drink bottles were simply ignored. Even when we put them on the counter ourselves, they were still there when we left. About the food itself: The fish with the tartar sauce was delicious. My husband found the ribs extremely sweet. The burgers were sparingly topped with meat. The fries were plentiful.

The food was good. I had the spareribs myself. Just missed a little more sauce. The atmosphere was also good in the restaurant. The only downside was that we only received our food 1.5 hours after sitting down. I personally think that's too long.

Ordered two sandwiches on the terrace of this restaurant. Brie sandwich and a Turfsteker sandwich. Both were tasty, but not special.

Delicious food (chef's special). Lots of small dishes that fit together perfectly. Nice place, good service, despite being very busy (25+ orders of the special...). Highly recommended!

We had the fish and chips and the beef stew. The latter was very tasty. The rest was bland with little flavor. Plus the oil was on the plate. The atmosphere is not very pleasant en masse. Staff are friendly. At the moment they are building opposite it, which of course does not help to increase the atmosphere. Dogs were allowed to come along and the terrace is covered, so if it rains you are still dry. No non-smoking area outside.

Good food, good atmosphere. Nice location. Ordered burgers with cocktail sauce (listed on the menu). However, I was running out of barbecue sauce. This was reported when asked if everything was satisfactory, but there was no response. Not a huge drama, but not what is on the menu. That's the only downside. Definitely recommended. Recommended: fried pickles!

We were on holiday near Westerbork and during our last evening we decided to have a bite to eat at the Turfsteker because of the interesting menu. As a starter I had a mustard soup and for once it really tasted like mustard and my group went for the potato nachos; wafer thin, perfectly cooked with delicious cheese and sauce. Then the main courses were certainly not disappointing; Guinness stew, pokebowl and a Boxty. All three dishes fantastic! Definitely recommended for a bite or when on the go!

Various dishes can be ordered as a senior menu. Cozy interior and a beautiful new terrace at the front. Ample parking for bicycle and car at the rear. Nice and friendly service. Highly recommended, suitable for 2 people or a larger group. Dog friendly and located in the pleasant Drenthe Westerbork.

Update 17-06-'24: Today the Netherlands beat Poland! The food was delicious again. I had the tuna as a starter, then the spare ribs and the Dublinner. Our table companions also enjoyed it again. Service top again! It sounds corny, but it's still highly recommended. It was the evening that the Netherlands lost to Denmark. We had no problem with that. The Guinness, the Fried pickles, Guinness Stew and Dublinner, everything was delicious and highly recommended, but my table companions had other dishes and they were also delicious. If you are going to eat here, I wish you strength in making a choice, it will not be easy. 😋 The friendly service is also top notch. In short, definitely eat here once. Went again last night and everything was delicious again. The service and kitchen were also top notch and it was good to see that the catering industry is doing well again after the pandemic. In short, make a reservation and enjoy.

Tonight we wanted to go out for a nice dinner because of our wedding day, June 14 and we have been married for 47 years, and we tried to make a reservation.... on the third attempt we were able to go to the Turfsteker in Westerbork! And what a delicious meal we had. Guinness stew Irish beef stewed in Guinness with onion, mushroom, carrot, potato. And a delicious flat sorbet😉 with fresh fruit. In one word.....Great! Glad we could go to the Turfsteker! Worth staying there!

Nice restaurant, service is friendly and attentive. Starters were good. The Irish stew was good, but a small quantity (small container) without attachments, which you had to order separately. Then the price-quality ratio becomes somewhat less. The potatoes from the oven were a bit floury and not crispy, as I had expected. And for the bowl there was an additional 6.50. Well worth the price!!!

As a food critic I can definitely recommend this restaurant. As a starter, a surprise board from the chef for 2 people consisting of meat, chicken and fish snacks (fresh and well-seasoned). Main course Irish Stew (beef stew very well cooked and nicely flavoured). Dessert, coffee peat cutter with liqueur filled chocolates. And the second dessert is Dubbeliner (hazelnut parfait on crumb meringue with whipped cream). I can really recommend everyone to eat here. As a reviewer, I give this restaurant a well-deserved 8.5.

What a nice place! Great service and great food. We were in hurry so enjoyed 3 courses, each of which were presented in a nice way. We enjoy places with great atmosphere, more social than super fancy, this was definitely a place we'd return to.
