The ice cream flavors are absolutely fantastic and delicious. The sundaes are beautifully presented and taste amazing. The service is friendly and fast. The variety of coffees and cakes leaves nothing to be desired. We always love coming here, no matter the season.

Very decent ice cream, although on the pricy side and I've had better for less. The place looks very classy and the people are friendly. What I don't understand, though, is that as an adult I cannot order a children's ice cream from the menu. That's the dumbest restaurant rule I've heard so far, but that's what they fly with here. I was wondering, what if you order a kid's icecream for your kid and then eat it yourself? Will you get fined or banned? 😂

Ich muss leider sagen, dass das wirklich keine gute Eisdiele ist. Ich war heute mit einer Gruppe Kindern vor Ort. Erstmal muss ich sagen, dass die Bedienung unheimlich ungeduldig und unfreundlich bei der Aufnahme der Bestellungen war. Dann ist das Preis-Leistung-Verhältnis für das Eis echt nicht gut. Bei einer Kugel Eis für 2,50€ erwarte ich wirklich bessere Qualität. Und das was mich am meisten geärgert hat ist, dass die Preise nicht transparent in der Karte stehen. Ich habe einen Iced Latte bestellt und sogar mit dem Finger in der Karte angezeigt, was ich haben möchte. Dann wurde ich von der Kellnerin gefragt welchen Sirup ich haben möchte. Ich hab ihr dann geantwortet und habe den Iced Latte auch so bekommen. Am Ende hieß es dann, dass der Iced Latte 50ct mehr kostet. Stand nirgendwo. In der Karte steht sogar, dass der Iced Latte mit Sirup serviert wird. Frechheit sowas. Nachdem man darauf aufmerksam gemacht hat, haben die Mitarbeiter*innen auch nur den Kopf geschüttelt… Ich werd auf jeden Fall nicht wieder kommen. Reply to the reply: Not only bad ice cream and opaque pricing, but also incapable of taking criticism – fantastic! :)

Outrageously expensive prices. €2.70 per scoop, even though the sign said €2.50. What a shame. It was just one cone (€0.20) + one scoop... (€2.50).

I have been coming here since I was little and have always enjoyed getting an ice cream. That is precisely why I find it particularly regrettable how we have been treated the last few times. Last time, a menu card, which had been handed to us by an employee themselves, was snatched from my three-year-old daughter's hands because it wasn't allowed to go outside. No problem (unless you hand it to her outside yourself), but it is not polite towards a 3-year-old who is choosing her ice cream. Today, I was subsequently approached regarding a remark allegedly made about my grandmother during the previous visit, something concerning disability. However, that conversation was not held with *me* at all. So, I was approached about something I knew nothing about at the time, and where the wrong person was clearly being addressed. After all, I never spoke a word to you back then. If there is a problem, provide an explanation and have a normal conversation with the RIGHT person. Do not pick a fight, and certainly not in front of a 2-year-old. I would never argue in front of my daughter myself and expect the same professionalism from an owner. It is very unfortunate, especially since I have been coming here my whole life. I hope you treat us much friendlier and more respectfully in the future. I hope this was a misunderstanding and would appreciate an apology, because paying a high price for an ice cream with unpleasant remarks without knowing what it is about at that moment is very unfriendly. Added because I cannot respond; when ordering the ice cream, I absolutely did not understand what the comment about being disabled was about (still don't), and I do not want arguments in front of my small child. I have never been unfriendly, not to the face—but not here either. I still do not understand what the comment about being disabled was about, I do not want those conversations when I am with my daughter, and I just wanted to get a simple scoop of ice cream with my grandma and daughter.

Very tasty ice cream, nothing to complain about, but the staff??? Terrible arrogance, full of themselves. Last year I got ice cream almost every day. Once I had a genuine complaint about straciatella ice cream that didn't contain a single piece of chocolate; I was immediately told not to think you wouldn't have to pay. I said, who is talking about not paying? I just have an honest complaint. Now today I went for dinner and then had an ice cream there. Again, the products are simply good, nothing to complain about, but I asked that rude oaf who was scooping ice cream what your guest password was. He said, "Just a moment." I said, "I only need to know the password (chocolate)." I did say "just a moment," he was scooping ice cream and apparently that can't be mentioned then. I just sat down and ate what I ordered, and I am never going here again. This is the last straw after the umpteenth disappointment regarding the staff. I could list more, but I think customer friendliness is clearly hard to find; it seems like we're supposed to be happy to be allowed to buy an ice cream there instead of the other way around. In any case, no Italian friendliness.

Always delicious artisanal ice cream...friendly owner

Terribly unfriendly staff. We were here this evening with our grandma, who couldn't read the sign properly. We asked for a menu, and that was quite a hassle. Eventually, we got one from a young man behind the counter. Then, another young man snatched the menu out of my three-year-old daughter's hands with some nasty remarks. He claimed we had taken it ‘just like that, without permission.’ What nonsense. And even if we were, surely we are customers looking to see what to order? No, we won't be coming back here and we'll spread the word. I think it would be better if this young man learned some manners at home.

A really lovely terrace to sit on. A delicious cup of coffee; my husband chose a slice of flan and it was tasty and generous. I chose an ice cream sundae and that was delicious too. I can imagine that people might not visit this place based on certain reviews and the responses to them. That would be a shame, though, because the quality is really good and I enjoyed my visit.

I paid €2.80 for ONE scoop of ice cream! Absolutely outrageous! The staff was incredibly unfriendly! Never again!

Simply damn delicious ice cream

For years, one of the best ice cream parlors in the Vaals-Aachen-Simpelveld-Gulpen-Plombiéres region. The taste is excellent; I can always tell they don't skimp on ingredients. Unfortunately, I have seen price increases in recent years, but portion sizes and taste have always remained the same (some ice cream parlors in the region could learn a thing or two from that). The negative reviews regarding the rules about when you are and aren't allowed to sit at a table are a shame. However, those reviews seem to come partly from people who can't read the signs because they don't speak the language. So, I can somewhat understand that as a customer, you don't understand why you get turned away with 2go or aren't served, or whatever. Nevertheless, the quality of the ingredients in the ice cream is reason enough to seek refreshment here on hot days. My favorite flavors are dark chocolate and lemon, so I highly recommend those, especially when the thermometer shows 25 degrees or higher. By the way, they also have tasty cocktails/drinks, in case you aren't in the mood for ice cream. So definitely worth a visit!

We arrived at 6:50 PM and everything was served in cardboard. Coffee in paper cups and cake on paper plates. Inside, they were already clearing everything out even though the place was still open. Better to go to Kickartz across the street.

We waited 10min in front of the ice creams for nothing. They were 2 meters away but didnt look at us once. We left.

Stopped for an iced coffee today; naturally it was busy, the terrace was full, but the employee behind the counter looked at us helpfully. "Iced coffee please," he said, to which he replied, "Would you like to sit down?" "Yes, if possible, but the terrace was full; otherwise, sitting on the bench is fine too," he said. Fine, so we were given 2go, not entirely as expected, but oh well. My girlfriend had managed to claim a table by then, but a "good afternoon" didn't happen because we were immediately ordered off the terrace by the wait staff—because, well, 2go, and we understand that—but we still tried to explain that it might have been a miscommunication between us and his colleague. I calmly suggested just switching them to a "terrace" cup, but that was countered: "Discuss that with the manager!" To keep the peace and avoid bothering other customers, we headed towards the bench; my girlfriend wanted to explain it again but was completely ignored... Customer friendliness, communication skills, and problem-solving skills were simply not to be found with the good man today. Too bad, even for a warm Whit Sunday, we will go elsewhere from now on.

Delicious ice cream sundaes. It's hard to find a seat when the weather is nice.

I am a tourist from Switzerland and had a very disappointing experience. I ordered an espresso to go while waiting just a few minutes for my husband. I sat down briefly, and a red-haired staff member rudely told me to leave the table because it was take away. This was shocking and very unprofessional. On top of that, the espresso was not good at all. Would not recommend.

Delicious ice cream sundaes and tasty, authentic coffee! We always love coming here and are always warmly welcomed and served quickly.

Average quality. The seating is comfortable and centrally located in the city center. However, my spaghetti ice cream was just a solid block of ice cream, not pressed into the expected noodle shape. The spaghetti was only around the edges. The vanilla ice cream also needs more flavor. Visually, it looks great, but personally, it's not enough for 4 or 5 stars.

I had the most delicious waffle and ice cream here for a very reasonable price. The service was very friendly. It's a clean place with very neat restrooms. One minor point for improvement is the smoking policy on the patio. It's completely in accordance with the rules, but the non-smoking table we were at was filled with smoke from the table next to it. Just make the patio smoke-free; you're there to enjoy a good meal, not to smoke.

I was curious to try this gelateria, but the experience wasn't what I'd hoped for. For my taste, the flavors were rather neutral, almost like ice water with a little color. The portions seemed small, and I was finished before I even realized it. The price is comparable to an aperitivo in the piazza: nothing wrong with that, if I'd found a memorable flavor or a special texture. Unfortunately, at least for me, that wasn't the case. Conclusion: In my opinion, the quality-price ratio isn't convincing. Perhaps it's a matter of taste, but personally, next time I'll try elsewhere.

Always friendly, good quality in everything. We're happy to be regulars and always enjoy stopping by on our way home in Sippenaeken. The terrace and the restaurant are always busy – there can hardly be better proof that everything here is just right!

I'm really disappointed with this ice cream parlor. My girlfriend and I wanted to treat ourselves to a little break after a motorcycle tour – so we brought a lot of luggage: helmets, backpacks, gloves, etc. We bought two scoops of ice cream in a cup (for me) and one in a cone (for my girlfriend) at the counter and then wanted to sit down at one of the numerous free seats outside to enjoy our ice cream in peace. As soon as we sat down, a waitress rudely informed us that you can only sit if you're being served at a table. There's a sign at the entrance – which we simply overlooked in the hustle and bustle with all our luggage. Instead of showing understanding or politely pointing it out, we were immediately "shown out." No help, no consideration, nothing. The result: We had to eat our ice cream standing outside, freezing, with all our belongings in our hands. This kind of ruined the whole trip. I find it absolutely incomprehensible how paying guests can be treated like this – especially since the seats were free and we hadn't taken anything away from anyone. To me, this is a clear sign of a lack of hospitality and a lack of business sense. We definitely won't be back – and I can only advise everyone to think carefully about whether they want to sit in a café where they feel so unwelcome as a guest.

A disappointing experience. What I got was completely different from what I ordered (see photo), and when I mentioned it, both the waiter and manager were rude. Based on other reviews, this isn’t the first time. Their replies to comments also show a lack of respect. This behavior doesn’t reflect the friendly culture of the Netherlands. I feel sorry for them.

An extremely dirty place with awful, possibly chemically flavored drinks. This was the worst experience I've ever had. I was there with my guest and felt truly embarrassed by the waitress's behavior. I think this place is run by people who aren't quite up to par. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially for a restaurant so close to the border. This gives tourists the wrong impression of the Dutch, as if we're all rude. I advise everyone to avoid this place—I'll warn my friends too!

A pathetic attempt at being "Italian" — by staff who clearly struggle with basic manners, let alone customer service. The ice cream? Tasteless. The attitude? Unbelievably rude. Instead of improving, they sit on Google and argue with customers like children. Embarrassing, unprofessional, and laughable. Avoid this place unless you enjoy paying for disappointment.

We stumbled upon this place during a day trip. Due to the crowds, we had to wait a bit for a seat, but patience was rewarded. Delicious Italian artisanal gelato and a wide selection of gelatos and coupes. The terrace is a pleasant place to sit. We were there at a busy time on a Sunday afternoon, and the service was still quick and incredibly friendly. Everything worked out perfectly.

If you're looking for a truly awful experience, this is the place. They've managed to disgrace the Dutch reputation while trying (and failing) to imitate Italian style. Absolutely not recommended.

Ice cream parlor with a classic look. Spacious interior. Spacious terrace. Choice of different flavors. The quality of the ice cream itself, and that's what it's all about, was disappointing. Not very subtle. Excess of flavor and color additives. Too bad, because that's not necessary at all. You can also get milkshakes here.

My whole family sat down at a table right at the front of the street and ordered ice cream for an extremely high price (€2.50 per scoop, three scoops each), meaning it cost over €20. I was really hungry, though, so I bought a tomato and mozzarella roll from the bakery across the street and would have liked to join them (sitting right on the street, mind you). I was then loudly and rudely informed that this wasn't allowed. That's the "only pots outside" mentality of the 90s, which I really don't miss.

The most customer unfriendly business. We had bought an ice cream and wanted to lick it outside, because my husband had difficulty walking. Almost empty terrace!!! We were simply sent away and snubbed. So terribly unfriendly!!! What stupid people.... Never going there again. I had a Bailey's-flavored milkshake there, and loved it. Price is fine, and the waiter was very kind.

The quality of the ice-cream is among the best we've tried and comes very close to what you get served in Italy. It's quite the surprise to get such good quality icecream in a classic looking ijssalon in a small town, but we even prefer it over the best icecream place of the neighbouring Aachen. I especially recommend all the nutty flavours (walnut, hazelnut, pistachio), zimt, the extra dark chocolate and the waldbeere sorbet but honestly it will be hard to pick a wrong flavour.

9€ for 4 small ice cream balls! Minimum consumption for adults, which was not shown to us when we entered the ice cream parlor. Ice quality very good. Nonetheless: Not again!

Unfortunately I can only give one star. Super unfriendly service! We sat at the table and my family ordered regular sundaes. My sister wasn't allowed to order just one scoop, she had to order at least two. I would like to have my ice cream in a cone or a cone with it because I particularly like these. But you can only have croissants to take away and not when you sit down. What kind of stupid rule is that? I asked in a friendly manner if there was nothing that could be done and the waitress answered me very rudely that I could buy a croissant and then just leave!? We tried five different types of sorbet. Lemon was quite tasty, the others were inedible. Totally sweet and very artificial taste. In the end we weren't allowed to pay separately... We definitely didn't feel comfortable and we won't be coming back. What a shame! My recommendation: buy delicious ice cream a few steps down the street from Albert Heijn and then sit with it in the beautiful park behind the shop (down the stairs). Much nicer, tastier and more relaxed :)

Op het terras voor de zaak mag je niet zitten met een hoorntje. Terwijl de kids graag een hoorntje wilden ipv een coupe. De andere helft van ons gezelschap wilde koffie. Dat kon alleen als we een terras verderop gingen zitten (?) en dan was de koffie in een kartonnen beker, geen servies. Apart met kinderen. Vonden het een vreemde gang van zaken, klantonvriendelijk. De man was onverbiddelijk. Wij ook: ons zie je er nooit meer terug. Beetje nare nasmaak van. Wat een rare zaak.

Haven't been for years. My son wanted to eat ice cream. More difficult to pack than before, but we succeeded. Friendly help, and the ice cream... wish you had tasted it. In one word... delicious! Can't make anything else of it. So good. I'm going back! Do you really want delicious ice cream? Go there! I don't know what it's like when you're there. I took to take away, but sooo delicious! Definitely do it in terms of taste! Too bad I didn't see Wally, but Wally doesn't know me anymore either.

Super tasty coupes and ice cream

Unfortunately, people here are very unfriendly and unreasonable when dealing with people with health restrictions. People who need their own food for health reasons are greeted with reprisals and inhospitality. Even if 5 more people consume for 80€. A shame for the Netherlands, which is otherwise so friendly and inclusive.

The owners of the ice cream parlor can't deal with negative criticism and have shown very unfriendly and impulsive behavior. I understand something different by hospitality. Not only is the ice cold here, but also the working atmosphere.

Very bad quality ice-cream, chemical taste. I am italian and this ice-cream has 0 in common with italian ice-creams. The owner of this place is very agressive and rude. The owner needs to think (at least sometimes) how to improve customer service. Instead of hating his customers and send them to macdonalds, better he would use its brain to improve his ice-salon and quality of its ice-Cream. Please visit Italy at least once and try a real italian ice-Cream. Ciao.

We just bought a normal icecream there and sat at the table to enjoy it. The place was half empty and planty of free tables. In 2 minutes a waitress came to us and in rude way asked us to leave this place cause we bought a take away icecream. But we just bought a normal icecream for a full price just in a paper glass. I will never turn back to this place and advice everyone to avoid it cause of rude staff and stupid rules. They have basically ruinded my day. And ice-cream was not tasty as well.

Great ice cream, super friendly service always

After dinner at Greek restaurant, plan was to eat ice cream and drink coffee at IJssalon with 7 people among two children. When my children started eating their ice cream cone, waiter straight away told us to go outside as we were not allowed to eat an ice cream cone/cup inside the ice salon (even not on the terrace). Some of us did not hear and already sat down inside, he then theaten to call the police. According his rule, which was not clearly communicated only a bowl of ice is allowed to eat inside. We were send outside in the pouring rain and my children had to eat their ice cream in the rain on the street. Very bad experience and no humanity. Even if it is raining and the salon near empty they can not make an exception.

We were there with a dog and the waitress turned us away even though dogs are allowed and gave us some excuses. Service is a foreign word here and we will definitely never go here again.

I've eaten there a couple of times and a few days ago I wrote to them to see if I could buy a liter of ice cream. They responded quickly and we coordinated to pick it up. It was very fast and the seller was very kind.

If the card starts with rules of etiquette, children don't get their ice cream in waffles ("because you don't do that"). When children are not allowed to order their ice cream at the counter... When the children are sent back to the seat because they have to order their ice cream at the seat (because those are the rules); then, yes, exactly then the idea of ​​service is so far removed that we all had no desire for ice cream anymore ;)

Wenn die Karte mit Benimmregeln beginnt, Kinder ihr Eis nicht in Waffeln bekommen ("weil man das eben nicht macht"). Wenn Kinder ihr Eis nicht am Tresen bestellen dürfen... Wenn die Kinder auf den Platz zurück geschickt werden, weil sie ihr Eis am Platz bestellen müssen (weil das eben die Regeln sind); dann, ja genau dann ist der Servicegedanke derart weit entfernt, dass wir alle keine Lust mehr auf Eis hatten. Vier Erwachsene und 4 Kinder sind also wieder aufgestanden und wieder gegangen. Die Unhöflichkeit dieses Cafés werden wir schnellstmöglich mit samt dem Café wieder vergessen.

I can't judge how the ice cream tastes, it didn't even get that far. On the first page of the menu you will find house rules, apparently it is more important to "educate" your customers than to give them a warm welcome. Children are apparently not wanted. They are not allowed to order ice cream at the counter, it can only be ordered at the table and only in a cup, not in a cone. We didn't feel welcome at all that we left before even ordering. Very unfortunate.

Heerlijke coupe ijs. Krokant met karamel en amandel. Schwarzwalder met kersen in likeur. (ik vond er iets te veel drank in zitten maar dat is smaak gebonden). Verder heerlijk.

De mojjitos van walli die moet je absoluut proeven. Ze zijn echt zo lekker. Vooral de aardbei.

Helemaal heen gelopen vanuit drielandenpunt voor goede koffie. Ze zetten hier heerlijke Italiaanse capucinno met een echte barista. Aanrader!

Oh jongens, laat me je vertellen over het ijzige paradijs dat Ijssalon Italia in Vaals is! Het is alsof je in een ijsuniversum stapt waar al je wildste bevroren dromen uitkomen. Ten eerste, de smaken! Ze hebben meer smaken dan er sterren aan de hemel zijn - oké, misschien is dat een kleine overdrijving, maar je snapt het wel. Van klassieke vanille tot waanzinnige bubblegum, ze hebben het allemaal. Je zou praktisch elke dag een jaar lang een andere smaak kunnen proberen en nog steeds niet zonder opties komen te zitten! Nu, laten we het hebben over de coupes - het is als ijskunst! Je voelt je alsof je in een dessertgalerij bent, waar je moet beslissen welk meesterwerk je wilt proeven. Je zult betoverd worden door de smaken en niet kunnen kiezen, dus uiteindelijk zul je ze allemaal proberen (of in ieder geval proberen). Als.Max zou winnen kregen wij een bolletje ijs gratis, die gingen we halen na zijn winst en bestelden voor de groep van 9 man 9 ijsjes met 2 bolletjes extra, drie in totaal. Das Eis ist wirklich lecker und die Auswahl sehr groß. Leider sind die Kugeln nicht sehr groß und für 2 Euro schon sehr teuer. Ich weiß, das alles teurer wird, aber 2 Euro pro Kugel ist schon der Hammer. Kann man sich eigentlich gar nicht mehr leisten.

Super lekker ijs, vriendelijk personeel. Daarnaast zeer ruime keuze voor glutenvrije ijscoups of gebak.
