Average quality. The seating is comfortable and centrally located in the city center. However, my spaghetti ice cream was just a solid block of ice cream, not pressed into the expected noodle shape. The spaghetti was only around the edges. The vanilla ice cream also needs more flavor. Visually, it looks great, but personally, it's not enough for 4 or 5 stars.

I had the most delicious waffle and ice cream here for a very reasonable price. The service was very friendly. It's a clean place with very neat restrooms. One minor point for improvement is the smoking policy on the patio. It's completely in accordance with the rules, but the non-smoking table we were at was filled with smoke from the table next to it. Just make the patio smoke-free; you're there to enjoy a good meal, not to smoke.

I was curious to try this gelateria, but the experience wasn't what I'd hoped for. For my taste, the flavors were rather neutral, almost like ice water with a little color. The portions seemed small, and I was finished before I even realized it. The price is comparable to an aperitivo in the piazza: nothing wrong with that, if I'd found a memorable flavor or a special texture. Unfortunately, at least for me, that wasn't the case. Conclusion: In my opinion, the quality-price ratio isn't convincing. Perhaps it's a matter of taste, but personally, next time I'll try elsewhere.

Always friendly, good quality in everything. We're happy to be regulars and always enjoy stopping by on our way home in Sippenaeken. The terrace and the restaurant are always busy – there can hardly be better proof that everything here is just right!

I'm really disappointed with this ice cream parlor. My girlfriend and I wanted to treat ourselves to a little break after a motorcycle tour – so we brought a lot of luggage: helmets, backpacks, gloves, etc. We bought two scoops of ice cream in a cup (for me) and one in a cone (for my girlfriend) at the counter and then wanted to sit down at one of the numerous free seats outside to enjoy our ice cream in peace. As soon as we sat down, a waitress rudely informed us that you can only sit if you're being served at a table. There's a sign at the entrance – which we simply overlooked in the hustle and bustle with all our luggage. Instead of showing understanding or politely pointing it out, we were immediately "shown out." No help, no consideration, nothing. The result: We had to eat our ice cream standing outside, freezing, with all our belongings in our hands. This kind of ruined the whole trip. I find it absolutely incomprehensible how paying guests can be treated like this – especially since the seats were free and we hadn't taken anything away from anyone. To me, this is a clear sign of a lack of hospitality and a lack of business sense. We definitely won't be back – and I can only advise everyone to think carefully about whether they want to sit in a café where they feel so unwelcome as a guest.

A disappointing experience. What I got was completely different from what I ordered (see photo), and when I mentioned it, both the waiter and manager were rude. Based on other reviews, this isn’t the first time. Their replies to comments also show a lack of respect. This behavior doesn’t reflect the friendly culture of the Netherlands. I feel sorry for them.

An extremely dirty place with awful, possibly chemically flavored drinks. This was the worst experience I've ever had. I was there with my guest and felt truly embarrassed by the waitress's behavior. I think this place is run by people who aren't quite up to par. This kind of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially for a restaurant so close to the border. This gives tourists the wrong impression of the Dutch, as if we're all rude. I advise everyone to avoid this place—I'll warn my friends too!

This is a low-tier ice cream shop with rude and disrespectful staff. A pathetic attempt at being "Italian" — by staff who clearly struggle with basic manners, let alone customer service. The ice cream? Tasteless. The attitude? Unbelievably rude. Instead of improving, they sit on Google and argue with customers like children. Embarrassing, unprofessional, and laughable. Avoid this place unless you enjoy paying for disappointment.

We stumbled upon this place during a day trip. Due to the crowds, we had to wait a bit for a seat, but patience was rewarded. Delicious Italian artisanal gelato and a wide selection of gelatos and coupes. The terrace is a pleasant place to sit. We were there at a busy time on a Sunday afternoon, and the service was still quick and incredibly friendly. Everything worked out perfectly.

Not very subtle. Excess of flavor and color additives. Too bad, because that's not necessary at all. You can also get milkshakes here.

My whole family sat down at a table right at the front of the street and ordered ice cream for an extremely high price (€2.50 per scoop, three scoops each), meaning it cost over €20. I was really hungry, though, so I bought a tomato and mozzarella roll from the bakery across the street and would have liked to join them (sitting right on the street, mind you). I was then loudly and rudely informed that this wasn't allowed. That's the "only pots outside" mentality of the 90s, which I really don't miss.

The most customer unfriendly business. We had bought an ice cream and wanted to lick it outside, because my husband had difficulty walking. Almost empty terrace!!! The quality of the ice-cream is among the best we've tried and comes very close to what you get served in Italy. It's quite the surprise to get such good quality icecream in a classic looking ijssalon in a small town, but we even prefer it over the best icecream place of the neighbouring Aachen. I especially recommend all the nutty flavours (walnut, hazelnut, pistachio), zimt, the extra dark chocolate and the waldbeere sorbet but honestly it will be hard to pick a wrong flavour.

9€ for 4 small ice cream balls! Minimum consumption for adults, which was not shown to us when we entered the ice cream parlor. Ice quality very good. Nonetheless: Not again!

Unfortunately I can only give one star. Super unfriendly service! We sat at the table and my family ordered regular sundaes. My sister wasn't allowed to order just one scoop, she had to order at least two. I would like to have my ice cream in a cone or a cone with it because I particularly like these. But you can only have croissants to take away and not when you sit down. What kind of stupid rule is that? I asked in a friendly manner if there was nothing that could be done and the waitress answered me very rudely that I could buy a croissant and then just leave!? We tried five different types of sorbet. Lemon was quite tasty, the others were inedible. Totally sweet and very artificial taste. In the end we weren't allowed to pay separately... We definitely didn't feel comfortable and we won't be coming back. What a shame! My recommendation: buy delicious ice cream a few steps down the street from Albert Heijn and then sit with it in the beautiful park behind the shop (down the stairs). Much nicer, tastier and more relaxed :)

Op het terras voor de zaak mag je niet zitten met een hoorntje. Terwijl de kids graag een hoorntje wilden ipv een coupe. De andere helft van ons gezelschap wilde koffie. Dat kon alleen als we een terras verderop gingen zitten (?) en dan was de koffie in een kartonnen beker, geen servies. Apart met kinderen. Vonden het een vreemde gang van zaken, klantonvriendelijk. De man was onverbiddelijk. Wij ook: ons zie je er nooit meer terug. Beetje nare nasmaak van. Wat een rare zaak.

Unfortunately, people here are very unfriendly and unreasonable when dealing with people with health restrictions. People who need their own food for health reasons are greeted with reprisals and inhospitality. Even if 5 more people consume for 80€. The owner needs to think (at least sometimes) how to improve customer service. Instead of hating his customers and send them to macdonalds, better he would use its brain to improve his ice-salon and quality of its ice-Cream. Please visit Italy at least once and try a real italian ice-Cream. Ciao.

We just bought a normal icecream there and sat at the table to enjoy it. The place was half empty and planty of free tables. In 2 minutes a waitress came to us and in rude way asked us to leave this place cause we bought a take away icecream. But we just bought a normal icecream for a full price just in a paper glass. I will never turn back to this place and advice everyone to avoid it cause of rude staff and stupid rules. They have basically ruinded my day. And ice-cream was not tasty as well.

After dinner at Greek restaurant, plan was to eat ice cream and drink coffee at IJssalon with 7 people among two children. When my children started eating their ice cream cone, waiter straight away told us to go outside as we were not allowed to eat an ice cream cone/cup inside the ice salon (even not on the terrace). Some of us did not hear and already sat down inside, he then theaten to call the police. According his rule, which was not clearly communicated only a bowl of ice is allowed to eat inside. We were send outside in the pouring rain and my children had to eat their ice cream in the rain on the street. Very bad experience and no humanity. Even if it is raining and the salon near empty they can not make an exception.

We were there with a dog and the waitress turned us away even though dogs are allowed and gave us some excuses. Service is a foreign word here and we will definitely never go here again.

I've eaten there a couple of times and a few days ago I wrote to them to see if I could buy a liter of ice cream. They responded quickly and we coordinated to pick it up. It was very fast and the seller was very kind.

I can't judge how the ice cream tastes, it didn't even get that far. On the first page of the menu you will find house rules, apparently it is more important to "educate" your customers than to give them a warm welcome. Children are apparently not wanted. They are not allowed to order ice cream at the counter, it can only be ordered at the table and only in a cup, not in a cone. We didn't feel welcome at all that we left before even ordering. Very unfortunate.

If the card starts with rules of etiquette, children don't get their ice cream in waffles ("because you don't do that"). When children are not allowed to order their ice cream at the counter... When the children are sent back to the seat because they have to order their ice cream at the seat (because those are the rules); then, yes, exactly then the idea of ​​service is so far removed that we all had no desire for ice cream anymore ;)

Vier Erwachsene und 4 Kinder sind also wieder aufgestanden und wieder gegangen. Die Unhöflichkeit dieses Cafés werden wir schnellstmöglich mit samt dem Café wieder vergessen.

Heerlijke coupe ijs. Krokant met karamel en amandel. Schwarzwalder met kersen in likeur. (ik vond er iets te veel drank in zitten maar dat is smaak gebonden). Verder heerlijk.

Ten eerste, de smaken! Ze hebben meer smaken dan er sterren aan de hemel zijn - oké, misschien is dat een kleine overdrijving, maar je snapt het wel. Van klassieke vanille tot waanzinnige bubblegum, ze hebben het allemaal. Je zou praktisch elke dag een jaar lang een andere smaak kunnen proberen en nog steeds niet zonder opties komen te zitten! Nu, laten we het hebben over de coupes - het is als ijskunst! Je voelt je alsof je in een dessertgalerij bent, waar je moet beslissen welk meesterwerk je wilt proeven. Het is een strijd, maar een overheerlijke strijd. Stel je dit voor: hopen met romige perfectie, versierd met een symfonie van toppings, alles gewikkeld in wafelkegel-magie. Het is als een heerlijke toren van geluk, klaar om je smaakpapillen in extase te brengen! En de smaak - oh my goodness, de smaak! De eerste hap is als een zoete, koude explosie van vreugde in je mond. Het is zo lekker; je wilt de ijsmaker omhelzen en hen bedanken voor hun ijskoude genialiteit. Serieus, ik heb nog nooit zoiets geproefd. Het is als een smaakexplosie die je meeneemt op een achtbaanrit van geluk. Het beste gedeelte? Het is niet zomaar ijs - het is een hele ervaring. Je zult betoverd worden door de smaken en niet kunnen kiezen, dus uiteindelijk zul je ze allemaal proberen (of in ieder geval proberen). Dus, als je in Vaals bent en snakt naar wat bevroren magie, ren dan niet, maar loop naar Ijssalon Italia. Je smaakpapillen zullen je bedanken, en je dessertdromen zullen uitkomen! Het is de gelukkigste plek op aarde, althans voor ijsliefhebbers zoals ik. Geloof me, je zult niet teleurgesteld zijn. Het is het bevroren-ijsjes-heerlijkheid waarvan je nooit wist dat je het nodig had! 🍦😄

Das Eis ist wirklich lecker und die Auswahl sehr groß. Leider sind die Kugeln nicht sehr groß und für 2 Euro schon sehr teuer. Ich weiß, das alles teurer wird, aber 2 Euro pro Kugel ist schon der Hammer. Kann man sich eigentlich gar nicht mehr leisten.

Hoezo klantvriendelijk??? Ik woon in de buurt maar hij ziet mij niet terug... wat een waardeloze kerel/ tent arrogantie ten top... jammer..

De vitrine met prachtige huisgemaakte taartjes lokte ons naar binnen. Samen met de kids namen we plaats aan een tafeltje in deze authentieke zaak. Rond om ons heen zat een fijne mix van lokale mensen en dagjesmensen. Deze ijssalon is duidelijk ook een ontmoetingsplek. Maar er wordt zeker genoten van drankje, huisgemaakt gebakje of ijscoupe. Wij kozen voor de koffie met vlaai en de kids voor chocomel en een wafel met ijs. De bediening was vriendelijk, de koffie goed en de vlaai de beste die we ooit hebben gegeten. Super verse slagroom, fris en fantastisch verfijnt. Lijkt totaal niet op die kartonnen versies die je in de supermarkt of bij de bakker in het westen tegenkomt. Kom je in Vaals en heb je zin in een kop koffie met vlaai of een gebakje? Ga hier dan zeker even langs. Wij komen vast nog eens terug voor een ijsje!

The best artisanal ice cream you can get your taste buds on. My favorite is the schwarzwälder kirsch coup. The coffee assortiment is also very good. And did I mention the hot chocolate. To die for!!!. Wafels are made in house fresh. Parking can be a challenge but certainly worth it.

IJssalon Vaals is een gezellige zaak waar je veel heerlijke ijsjes kunt bestellen. Meestal kom ik er langs voor mijn werk en neem ik daar af en toe een cappuccino met een collega. Door de week is het meestal erg druk. Uiteraard doet het mooie weer van de laatste maanden ook een flinke duit in het zakje: volle terrassen en rijen mensen voor een ijsje. Kortom voor het lekkerste ijs moet je daar zijn!
