Beautiful location, friendly staff and good food.

I asked about vegan options. They pointed out a vegan dish and added that they could also make the vegetarian burger vegan by swapping the sauces. I was really happy about that, since it's not a vegan restaurant and I was worried I wouldn't be able to eat anything... Well, what I got was a watery meatball with the explanation: "The bread isn't vegan." No sauces either. If I had known that beforehand, I would have chosen the other dish, of course. But the real kicker was yet to come: they refused to acknowledge their mistake and charged me the full price (around €16) even though I didn't even get half the dish. The fries, which I hadn't originally ordered but was quite happy to have because of the portion size, were vegan (but weren't marked as such on the menu like the other vegan dish). If I had known that, I would have just ordered the fries...

Beautiful restaurant with a stunning view of Germany from the terrace. I ordered a Bokkenrijder sandwich with warm Brie and raw ham. Afterwards, I regretted my choice, but that is personal, of course. In my opinion, there were too many flavors on one plate: a hard bun topped with raw ham (which, after the Brie had been baked, was naturally no longer raw), some pesto underneath, and honey that I didn't taste. Additionally, there were pickled onions, a green salad, and the bun was served in a garnish that looked like chocolate 🤢. I'll order something else next time. The staff was friendly and the space was beautiful and clean, so I will definitely come back again.

Beautiful location, friendly service, bad food, scampi impossible to peel, no pecans, otherwise it was just a mountain of lettuce with a little balsamic vinegar, didn't eat, no response from staff when indicating we were not satisfied, no compensation. Just had to pay the full bill.

For my birthday, we went to eat here for the first time last Tuesday. Reserved for All you can (M)eat. We can only say what a delicious dinner we had here. The food is TOP!! Perfect, just the way we like it: rare, with great attention to flavor. But what we also really appreciated was the way customers were treated, the immense professionalism and etiquette of Mr. Jos, who served us food and drinks. So polite, and yet we also had a pleasant and nice chat. We had a wonderful experience and evening here. Hats off to you; you will definitely be seeing us more often. Mark and Angela Nunumete

Surprisingly nice Three Countries dish!! A nice variety of flavors.

It's doable, but they can't make pancakes; they are very thin and rock-hard, to the point of being burnt.

Too much caffeine in the coffee; it causes circulatory problems! Not recommended! The staff was very friendly! I was not satisfied with the coffee.

If you are looking to eat brunch or something light, this a good restaurant near the dreiländerecke to stopby for a coffee and a quick bite. The staff is friendly and the food came out quick.

Order the Rice Pie, cup of coffee and soak in the view. You'll br on the Dutch side looking out onto the Germany side. But seriously, the Rice Pie is OUT of this world and only specific to this area of Netherlands we were told

The restaurant has a fantastic indoor play area with a large climbing course, motor skills games, and digital games. Children of all ages can enjoy themselves there. The restaurant is very spacious and offers a stunning view of the tri-border region from its panoramic terrace. Food and drinks arrived quickly. For my taste, it wasn't anything special and was quite expensive (e.g., spaghetti with arugula pesto for about €15, a burger without fries for about €17 (meat or veggie)). The selection of vegetarian dishes is very limited. The service staff was very friendly and always responded promptly.

We went there together and had a really lovely time. The atmosphere was very pleasant, and the service was friendly and attentive. I ordered the Carpaccio Deluxe and was thrilled – it was absolutely delicious and incredibly tasty. 😋 The presentation of the food was also beautiful. Overall, a wonderful visit with delicious food, a great atmosphere, and excellent service. We'll definitely be back! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This restaurant is highly recommended. We arrived about 45 minutes before closing time and were received in a very friendly manner. We sat outside on the panoramic terrace and had a view of the surroundings. This experience really enhances the atmosphere. There is a wide selection on the menu, and there are also meals for children. We had the salmon, chicken nuggets, an XXL hamburger bun, and the veal tenderloin steak duo. The salmon was fresh and of good quality. The duo was cooked medium, which was clearly stated beforehand, and it came with more than enough side dishes for a complete meal. All in all, highly recommended, where you will certainly be pleasantly surprised by genuine Limburg hospitality.

Bad experience – Unfriendly and unfriendly service! What a huge letdown at the Drielandenpunt tower. The service was incredibly unfriendly. After the waitress had taken the order from the table next to us, she walked over to our table. When we then politely wanted to pass our order to her, she immediately snapped: "It's not your turn yet, another table first. I'm just here to clear the table." If this is the way you treat paying guests, you really haven't understood the hospitality industry. We got up immediately and will absolutely never come back here. Not recommended!

Well... super beautiful location... food is decent... but not top-notch... the terrace is situated in a really lovely spot... but when people next to you light one cigarette after another... you really go back to the 90s... just disgusting...

Pathetic. You are not allowed to drink your own WATER on their premises. EDIT IN RESPONSE TO OWNER: Your sarcastic reply intentionally misleads future customers. We did not bring outside food; we ordered full meals and drinks from your establishment. We simply had a personal water bottle on the table which we strictly refrained from drinking out of after your waiter requested it. Your waiter incorrectly assumed the bottle was full when we arrived and rudely threatened to complain to you. It is disappointing that instead of addressing your staff's false accusations and hostile behavior, you chose to respond with sarcasm.

We wanted to have lunch here, took a seat on the terrace, and ordered a drink. Shortly afterwards, they brought us the bill without asking if we wanted to eat or order another drink. Because of this, we no longer felt welcome and left; fortunately, there are other hospitable dining establishments to be found in the area. Never again De Bokkenrijder for us.

We were here last week. I try to eat as little gluten as possible and, fortunately, I can order a cheese toastie everywhere in the Netherlands; that wasn't possible here. They really had no idea what I meant, even though they do have a ‘super toastie’ on the menu. I don't eat pork and am allergic to onions. It is not mentioned on the menu that you get a kind of herb mix cheese on the ‘super toastie’. I also asked the waiter if it could be on white bread; it was already on order, so he had to check. He came back to the table: ‘it is standard white bread’. Once served, I received a loaf of bread with herb mix cheese soaked in herb sauce on brown bread. Fortunately, my table companions thought it looked delicious, and we swapped dishes. The view is great and the interior looks good, but I won't be coming back.

There is a wide view from the terrace. The order for 7 people proved to be a challenge. Both the pie and the drinks were brought incorrectly. Additionally, we were not asked if we wanted whipped cream on the pie; it was simply served on top. Consequently, we had to pay for the whipped cream without being asked.

A large terrace with a beautiful view. Friendly service (a young man) who asked several times if everything was to our liking. Dogs are certainly welcome; a bowl of water was brought immediately. I had my tuna sandwich within 10 minutes, and it was tasty too.

The food was really good; I ordered a hot chocolate, though the portion was a bit small, and we also had a "Brussels waffle," which was delicious. Aside from the food, the view was amazing too.

Beautiful restaurant with a lovely large terrace with a fantastic view.

Probably the highest-situated restaurant in the Netherlands. With a very wide view and a spacious terrace, the interior is also spacious with an outward view and an opening glass wall. The service is good and friendly. A well-maintained establishment with a play area for children.

We had a barbecue event, and everything was fine. The food from the grill was good and plentiful; I can't comment on the menu. The service was good, quick, and attentive. The only downside was the atmosphere by the street/parking lot, which was unpleasant and noisy due to the constant car and motorcycle traffic. Next time, we'll opt for the back terrace. There was plenty of parking available.

Delicious food! Friendly staff!

We were two people, both ordering burgers. we asked for extra cheese, but arrived without any cheese. When I mentioned it, they took the same plate away and came back claiming there was no cheese. What really frustrated me was that shortly afterward, the table next to us received a cheese sandwich—so clearly, they could have provided it. It felt like they just didn’t want to fix the issue.

Received a friendly welcome, but received far too little sauce on the pasta. The entire table (5 people) felt the same way. We mentioned it and received an apology. They said they would take it up with the kitchen. Perhaps it was a one-off or situational? It is a really beautiful place, though.

Great guys from Zoetermeer thought it was a nice café. EasyToys sponsorship isn't in the cards and the cyclists didn't want to do a bin. Too bad, better luck next year.

A fantastic restaurant that's great for kids and dogs. Everything about it is perfect! We were there with two dogs, and there were even four large dogs at one table. Simply superb!

We stopped here for a drink with a piece of pie after our climb up. The weather was beautiful, so we sat outside. We were greeted and served by friendly staff, the pie was very tasty, and we had a beautiful view.

Visited on a weekend. The garden was packed. The interior of the restaurant is starting to feel a bit dated, but the space is perfect for large parties. The fries were excellent, and the seasonal fruit dessert was enormous! The views are free.

Very disappointing. Perhaps once a big name in the area, but now the atmosphere and level of an AC roadside diner. The ambiance is really nothing more than the breakfast room of an Ibis hotel, and the food is of questionable quality. The chef really needs a visit from Gordon Ramsey; oh my goodness, how poor. The risotto was utter nonsense: a schnitzel with ham and cheese on top with some sort of mushroom sauce in between, reheated in the microwave. The steaks were of reasonable quality in terms of meat itself, but feel free to ask how they want their “steak” cooked. All in all, no dessert and no tip, and off we went with screeching tires. Not recommended, and hopefully for others, our experience was an outlier in a negative sense.

Delicious food in a beautiful location

As always, tasty and good food, nice waitresses, and not only the waitresses of course, the waiters are also absolutely top-notch.

We went there yesterday with a large group. The sun was shining, so we wanted to sit outside and have lunch there. The service wasn't very friendly. Putting tables together: preferably not! Separating tables: preferably not either. Large groups have to sit inside and eat there. We were eventually chased away by the manager in a very rude manner.

What a ridiculous experience today at Restaurant Bokkenrijders in Vaals near the Drielandenpunt. We were with family: five families, about 15 people with a few children. The weather was beautiful, about 18 degrees, so we sat on the terrace to enjoy the sun. There were two tables together, and because we were such a large group, we moved a third table so we could all sit together. At one point, the manager came to us and told us that a large group could only use two tables. We had three, so according to her, that wasn't allowed. Her solution? That we should all sit inside. Seriously? Fifteen of us going inside when the weather is beautiful outside and we're just enjoying the sun? That makes absolutely no sense. I tried to come up with a solution: I suggested setting the third table aside so we officially had two tables as a group and a separate table where the children could sit, for example. But that wasn't allowed either, because that table had to "remain free for other guests." So we—fifteen potential guests—were supposed to leave so someone else could sit there? That's completely illogical. In the end, we got up angrily and left. And rightly so. The way the manager treated us was downright rude and not at all customer-focused. It's especially disappointing that I've been here before and even recommended the restaurant to my family. I regret that now. The restaurant is in a beautiful location near the Drielandenpunt, that's true. But don't let that mislead you. A beautiful place is worthless if the staff and management don't know how to treat customers. For us: never again. And I won't recommend it to anyone.

A very disappointing experience at Restaurant De Bokkenrijders. Today we sat down on the terrace with our family (about 15-20 people). Everyone had already ordered drinks, and we planned to eat with the whole group afterward. Shortly afterward, the manager told us that according to their "house rules," we weren't allowed to put tables together because other guests would also want to sit on the terrace. We found this a particularly weak argument, considering there was still plenty of space available at that moment. To be honest, it felt more like a way to send us away. We tried to calmly get an explanation inside, but the manager wasn't really interested and just kept repeating that the house rule is that no more than two tables are allowed together. Incidentally, we couldn't find this rule anywhere. I'm an entrepreneur myself and know the importance of hospitality and customer focus. Sending away a group of almost twenty guests who wanted to order both drinks and food is, in my opinion, incomprehensible. We ultimately left with a very bad feeling. As a family with a Turkish background, we honestly felt unwelcome. What should have been a pleasant Sunday afternoon was completely ruined by this. It's a shame that a restaurant apparently prefers to let a large group of guests leave rather than show some consideration for its customers. Hopefully, the management takes this seriously and takes a closer look at how they treat their guests. This is our personal experience today, and exactly what we experienced. Unfortunately, a very negative experience for us.

Unfortunately, I absolutely do not recommend this hotel. The staff is extremely unfriendly and arrogant. We did not feel welcome as guests! Instead of being solution-oriented, the management chose to hide. A very weak and lacking leadership style!

Ordered hot chocolate = cup only half full. Didn't ask if I wanted whipped cream or not. Spoon too short to stir the latte. Iced coffee was tiny for €7. No portion sizes listed on the menu. No sugar on the table or included.

I arrived too early and without enough time for a breakfast but the hot chocolate was lovely the coffee excellent, the view spectacular and the service exceptional.... I'm almost at the point of booking another trip just so I can go back and eat there! They truly were wonderful and watching them set up the breakfast tables for those to come later I was very envious. Just a note ...they don't have plant milk so I'd take a little with you.

Lovely spot. The view is beautiful and the coffee is delicious! Apparently they roast their own beans; we bought a bag to take home! The service was super friendly. It turned out she was the owner as well. A young, lively lady. Lunch was very tasty and quick. The crispy chicken salad is highly recommended!

Beautiful views and a friendly waiter, but it's primarily a place for families with (busy) children. It's nice to sit; those who come for the food should move on. The pancakes were disappointing: bland and textured, half-cooked or tough. Plain pancakes came with a generous dusting of powdered sugar, and the cheese and bacon were dry. I left after a quarter, my companion after half. A new pancake was offered, but declined. No reason for us to return.

Christmas dinner booked!!! Not what you expect! If you're from Germany, they haven't even translated the menu from Dutch to German. The prices are outrageous for the amount of food you get. There's very little choice if you have children with you. The view is great while you eat, and the waiters and waitresses are nice, but overall, I wouldn't recommend it in terms of value for money and quality. The wait times depend on the number of orders, of course, but they're still tolerable. Everyone can have their own opinion, but I didn't think it was good.

We were very welcome, even with our dog, despite our somewhat muddy and sweaty appearance after a trail along the border. We had delicious tomato soup and a Monsieur Veggie, yum. Our dog even got some attention! Friendly staff, beautifully decorated restaurant. Highly recommended!

Beautifully situated restaurant with a view of Vaals and Aachen

When we're in the area, we like to visit "Bokkerijder." There's plenty of parking right at the restaurant and even more nearby. The surrounding area is, of course, ideal for long walks and getting some fresh air. The restaurant is well-maintained and attractively decorated. For children, there's a great playroom in the back with a climbing frame. There's plenty of space, and in the summer, there's also an outdoor area with a fantastic view of Aachen and the surrounding area due to the restaurant's elevation. The staff is very friendly and attentive and happy to accommodate special requests. The food is very good, beautifully presented, and of very high quality. The prices are moderate and more than fair for the quality, especially considering that restaurant prices in the Netherlands are generally higher than in Germany. With that in mind, I would even consider it a bargain. The coffee, which is roasted in-house, is worth mentioning. Tip: You can also buy the beans there for a very reasonable price.

Very tasty food, beautiful view, very hospitable welcome, good and fast service. Only had to wait a bit long for the bill.

We were here on vacation in Vaals. We were first asked to move to a different table because of a large group! (No reservations at the table, nothing.) But whatever. We were then shown to a table tucked away behind a pillar. We weren't asked if we wanted anything else to eat afterward. We were literally ignored from that moment on. I've never felt so unwelcome. This was definitely the first time, but definitely the last time. They're taking the restaurant further.

Good stop for a coffee and cake break after a car journey

Since there are 3 borders very close this place is located on the Dutch side. There is plenty of parking space so there should not be a problem with parking. The food was delicious. We had a breakfast and that was flawless. The pastry was probably the highlight along with the scrambled eggs. The price is also acceptable as it is 15.5 euros per person for the breakfast, and the portions that you get for those 15 euros are worth it. The atmosphere along with the indoor decorations were amazing as well as the staff were professional, kind and very friendly. The restaurant has a nice view of the nearby historical city of Aachen which is worth visiting as it has nice historical town center. Overall this was an amazing experience and I certainly recommend visiting this place and having a breakfast.

Just came for a cup of coffee and a large, delicious slice of pie with whipped cream. I asked for a glass of water with my coffee to take some medication, but I think the waiter overlooked that.

It was our first time there. We ordered a coffee, an apple spritzer, and fries with mayo. 1. Bad service, and on top of that, we got our drinks, and my still apple spritzer was probably already prepared and brought directly to the customer. And then we waited and thought we'd get our fries, but no one came. After 15 minutes, we were fed up and wanted to pay. Since there was no server around, I went to the cashier, and the bill still said fries. I told them we didn't get any fries and didn't want any more because we were leaving. No apology, nothing. Rude and disrespectful!

The cake was delicious, and we also had a delicious hot chocolate. The staff was friendly.

We arrived at 10:45 for lunch, the waiter didn't take our order properly, 1 hour 20 minutes later still nothing and when we asked him he told us it was too late because it was past noon, not at all business-like, very disappointing, zero out of ten for the waiter

Beautiful view and excellent restaurant

Excellent service, beautiful view, and had the opportunity to meet a group of football players who also came to eat at the restaurant. The restaurant is big, wide, and beautiful, perfect for a dinner with family and lovers.

Been there three times, and each time was more than enough. Good quality food, Jupiler on tap, and a fantastic view from the outdoor terrace.

We went for dinner last weekend, during our stay in Limburg, after visiting Vaals, the tri-border area. We actually wanted to eat at our hotel/restaurant, but our attention was drawn to the terrace and its beautiful view. The food was delicious, good value for money, and the service from both gentlemen was excellent, friendly, and efficient! It really gave us that holiday feeling; in short, we highly recommend it.
