Waited a long time for a piece of burnt (!) apple pie that was also hidden under unsolicited whipped cream. The staff had no interest in Limburg hospitality this afternoon. Unfriendly and slow. The coffee and flan were fine.

Nice location, and that says it all. We waited 15 minutes, but there were two waiters walking around who didn't have time. I went inside and asked if we could order something because we had already been waiting for a while... I got a snap from the waiter. I didn't have a menu yet either, so ordering immediately wasn't possible. When asked if we could get something to eat, the answer was: if you have patience, you will get food eventually. That doesn't sound like an invitation! Everyone on the terrace was dissatisfied, so we left: advice -> don't go, they don't want customers.

We ate at the old watermill (not the bistro). The price-quality ratio was excellent.

We had our doubts after reading the reviews, but we went there anyway because the restaurant was fully booked. We ordered the "sour meat," but the meat was nowhere to be found. It tasted more like sour onion soup... a real shame and disappointing. You'd expect more from a bistro in a hotel. €25 for a gravy without meat is a rip-off! Definitely not recommended. The service could also be better.

It used to be a shame, it used to be nice to sit on the bistro's terrace. This time, the service was unfortunately abysmal. The waiters were wandering around in an uncoordinated manner; it took 20 minutes and several waves before we were finally noticed and our order was taken. We had already taken the menu ourselves from another table. The food was okay, nothing special. It was noticeable that the menu didn't list any prices on the extensive beer list. When we paid, we realized why! €6.50 for a 0.2l glass is outrageous! It also took another half hour to pay. At first, I couldn't pay at the counter and was rudely sent to my table. They said someone would come... but of course, the lady didn't. A new colleague then sent me back inside to pay 🙈. That's not how gastronomy works, dear Wstermolen team!

Sat on the terrace for half an hour but unfortunately we were not helped while other guests were served. Eventually we left before we were completely dried out.

Extremely beautiful place. But unreliable. Very disappointing and frustrating when you drive here from Maastricht to have lunch with your wife and they are simply closed without notice. With the quality of Bilderberg this should not be possible.

The service is unfortunately a disaster; please rethink your booking system. Waiting 10 minutes for a drink, then the wrong order is given or completely forgotten. The food was the order from the next table, which is also difficult. The menu isn't available in German or English; we had to use Google Translate. Unfortunate

Bistro and restaurant are separate. One regular eatery and a more upscale one. Bistro: You can eat inside and outside. Drinks, lunch and main course possible depending on the time of day. Beautiful setting terrace. Tasty but on the more expensive side. Photos are prices of bistro, not of the restaurant.

Overpriced, disappointing food. The tomato sauce was obviously canned, not fresh. The apples on an apple tart were canned as well. This is embarrassing and unacceptable for the prices that are charged. Very mediocre.

Long waits for the next course, sometimes over an hour. The third course came before the second. The red wine was poured into the used white wine glass (which had a small amount left). The main course came in small pots containing red cabbage and mashed potatoes. Unfortunately, the spoons were missing. The food was generally warm at best, so you had to eat very quickly to enjoy everything while it was still halfway warm. There were no apologies or compensation, just a small word. Unfortunately, we won't be coming back again.

If you want good Limburg/gastronomic cuisine then you've come to the right place

I have stayed more than a dozen times at Kasteel Vaalsbroek. Its restaurant, Oude Watermolen, is one of its great highlights. Exceptional gourmet dining at the finest level of Limburgian cuisine. Lovely setting that is fresh, modern and relaxing. Kindest staff. Do make a point to come here. The menu of course changes seasonally, so just try anything offered. I had the shrimp bisque, beef medallions and lemon tart. All wonderful.

I understand the bad. There really aren't any reviews here. A very nice atmosphere with very friendly staff. The well-known apple pancake is a dream. The coffee is very tasty. Anytime again.... Whether it's a hike by bike or by car...the journey is worth it

The relatively poor overall rating is apparently due to the associated bistro. We got an excellent menu in the restaurant itself. There was really nothing to complain about in all three courses. What was a bit lacking was the pumpkin foam as a greeting from the kitchen at the beginning. And there are only menus with three courses or more, all of which were plentiful. Unfortunately, people who just want to eat a little something are not well served here. In my opinion, you can't blame the restaurant for this.

I've loved being on the terrace here for 30 years. The interior of the bistro is small but very comfortable. It's a good address with a small menu selection, but it tastes good. Have fun relaxing.

Mooi hotel en mooie locatie. Eten ver onder de maat! Lauwe tomatensoep voor 10€ wel na 20 minuten wachten een nieuwe warme kop gekregen, helaas zonder ballen deze keer. Aspergemenu ook echt een aanfluiting! Koude asperges en vlees ipv medium rare als een schienzool doorbakken. Voor deze prijs gewoon lekker naar Maastrich/Valkenburg/Aken rijden. Of rij eens door naar Kasteel Elsloo, mooi menu, vlotte bediening en mooie prijs/kwaliteit.

We (m+v 65+) waren hier voor het jubileumdiner, bleek uitstekende keus te zijn. Bediening op deze woensdagavond super vriendelijk en uiterst vakkundig. We werden werkelijk verrast met een verrukkelijk 4-gangendiner en 1 x een wijnarrangement. Bvb heerlijke hertenbiefstuk. Aanpassing door zuiverintolerantie geen enkel probleem. Niet goedkoop maar het geld beslist waard

Beknopte kaart maar wat er op staat is perfect! Voor grote gezelschappen is dit restaurant te klein.

Heerlijk gegeten, echt een aanrader. Mooi combinaties, smaakt goed, prima porties. Niet goedkoop maar je krijgt er voor ook lekker eten en goede bediening.

Niet zo goedkoop, maar lekker eten en een vlotte bediening

Cappuccino die eigenlijk geen cappuccino mag heten zo slecht smaakt het. En personeel vind het belangrijker om het geld in de portemonnee na te tellen dan gasten in het café te helpen. Wel een mooie plek aan het water. Maar voor koffie adviseer ik toch even door te lopen
