The six of us had a wonderful meal last night; schnitzels and heavenly steak were perfect. A very unique setting with lots of statues and figurines, and a lovely little chapel to light candles. The service was friendly, and the lady who cooks deserves a compliment. Thank you for the warm welcome, and don't forget the coffee and a glass, and the ice cream sundae.

I don't often share reviews, but this time... I will. Ordered a steak menu for €31. The appetizer: The tomato soup comes straight from a can. The main course: Consists of fries, a small bowl of salad that had been prepared a while ago, and half a slice of melon. No other vegetables. The mushroom sauce comes from a can. And the menu says this is charged separately. The steaks are cooked well, though. The dessert: A slice of vianetta with whipped cream. The wine at €4.50 a glass is cheap supermarket wine and not good! The chairs are nice to look at but absolutely uncomfortable; you're better off sitting on the terrace. If you enjoy good food, I would definitely drive to Het Hijgende Hert. A bit more expensive, but much better value for your money!

Upon entering, it's a small room with very unusual chairs that are really not very comfortable. But the food is excellent and delicious. There's a really generous amount of extras. My husband had the schnitzel and I had the devil's ham. It was really delicious and tender. I did miss a sauce, though.

We made a reservation, but weren't greeted. We waited a bit. No one showed us to our table, no greeting, nothing. We left again. Such a shame.

The food is okay, nothing more, nothing less. They certainly don't have the best fries. The three-course menu costs 26 euros, but if you want a sauce with your meat, that costs extra, and mayonnaise with the fries is also included. It's a nice location and the service is friendly.

Unfortunately not! The kitchen "supposedly" closes at 8:00 PM, and by 7:40 PM, guests are already being turned away. What a shame! I highly recommend the Bilderberg Kasteel bistro – 500 meters away! Great burgers, lakeside seating, and friendly service!

I've never sat and eaten on a prayer chair in front of an old confessional. Christian pictures/figures of saints/altar pieces, etc., the dining room is overcrowded, but QUINTEST.

Despite the sacred decor, our visit to the restaurant was a real treat. Old church chairs at the tables, a former confessional set up as decoration: it's not just the dark-skinned Virgin Mary who likes it! Extensive menu with small and large snacks. Delicious cakes to choose from!

In een bijzondere ambiance, veel kitsch, beeldjes, afbeeldingen en wat nog meer, hebben we uitstekend gegeten. Geen hoogstaande cuisine, maar goed bereid eten. Vriendelijk bediening en de prijs kwaliteit verhouding is perfect in balans. Je betaalt hier niet de hoofdprijs. Aanrader!!

It was raining cats and dogs and we really wanted to get out. The Black Madonna is located just behind the Landal park Hoog Vaals. Just looked across the street at the fruit machines (literally a machine where you pull fruit). Then a coffee, a glass of wine and a snack in this beautiful place. You will be amazed! Very nicely decorated cup of cappuccino for a cute price and a nice and friendly host and service. Then you can only stay for dinner. Fortunately that was possible because it is clearly full house for dinner. The food fits the atmosphere perfectly, not too complicated or cowardly, but simple, straightforward and good food. And, a Duvel tastes good in this devout environment

We hebben heerlijk gegeten, maar de prijs-kwaliteit is uit balans. Grappig restaurant met alle relikwieën, maar goedkoop afgewerkt. Er was zoveel meer van te maken. Dat wat we gegeten hebben was prima. Biefstuk was keurig gegaard. Maar bijna €25 voor een klein stukje biefstuk, een glazen schaaltje met wat rauwkost en een schaaltje met friet, vind ik duur. Zeker als je dan ook nog de sauzen (zigeunersaus, champignonsaus en mayonaise) apart moet betalen. Ijs was prima, maar de slagroom was slechte spuitbus slagroom. Kortom, oké eten, maar niet voor dit geld en deze beleving.

Een bijzondere beleving, een mooie avond met humor, lekker eten en gezellige bediening! Voor een heilig avondje zeker een aanrader 😉

Here you get what you expect: classic dishes. The price-quality ratio is very good, but what makes me especially recommend this business is the decoration of the business and the hospitality. We were served in a super friendly manner by people who clearly enjoy their job.

Food was freshly mixed with microwave meal, for example the vegetable soup seems as if it comes from a can with fresh vegetables added Chicken satay was soft and spongy and served in a bowl. Quantity was fine and service was perfect. Price is fine.

The title of review gives a good sum up. The restaurant is part of Museum Vaals and situated next to a former convent and chapel. The restaurant is filled with church memorabilia and even has a small display of figurines which are on sale. The dishes on offer were simple dishes but of good quality, nothing special. So for those looking for a quick and simple dinner, this restaurant is worth a visit.

What a nice place! You're short of eyes. And the gentleman who served us was very friendly and personable 👍🏼. The stew was great and so were the fries. I highly recommend it.

Not recommended. Price-quality poor. Schnitsel tasteless with ditto sauce, salad old with stale sauce. No attention paid to it at all. Especially not a hospitable reception. Manager not friendly, not even when we asked why it was called the Black Madonna. Too bad, missed opportunity. And sitting on hard church benches all evening is not really recommended. Location is nice but the operator needs new enthusiastic staff and chef

Not your all day typical setting with a lot of church related items (without it being in your face all the time). Personnel is friendly and 'dutch direct' in a pleasant way. Food is what you would expect from the average Dutch restaurant but taste pretty good. Prices are on par with other restaurants. Although being a feature in the restaurant, the chairs are not that comfortable. When you are big or have trouble sitting up straight or on wood for 1-2 hours, then I would not advice a visit.

Sehr schönes Café, aber wir hatten eine grottenschlechte Bedienung.

Nog altijd leuke omgeving, echter wat “uitgebluste” bediening. Koffie is goed, evenals het gebak.

Stugge jongeman in de bediening kwam later iets vriendelijker over. De oudere heren komen wat servicegerichter over. Beide menu genomen friet goede portie komt niet vaak meer voor. Eten is verder naar waarde niet slecht ook niet geweldig. Prijs kwaliteit is goed naar huidige prijzen. Mooie omgeving bij museum en beeldentuin restaurant binnen druk maar wel apart en bijzonder. Zou meer ☆ krijgen als de bediening zich wat vriendelijker en professioneel op zou stellen.

De bediening zal hier geen feestje van maken, dat moet je zelf doen. Eten was uit de standaard verpakking supermarkt of groothandel, maar niet zelf vers gemaakt. Schitzel met pepersaus was aan aanslag op onze goede smaakt. Ook al is de prijs voor een drie gangen menu scherp, dan nog kan je dit wel beter in balans brengen. Stel je niet teveel eisen, dan kom je wel aan je trekken. Helaas niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Het is een heel apart restaurant met een enorme drukke entourage. Het eten op zich is prima maar de appelmoes zit in een bakje van de Lidl. De serveerster kwam wat chagrijnig over.

Sate kwam duidelijk uit een diepvries pakje wat je in de supermarkt voor 2 euro haalt. Bier sloeg meteen dood vanwege niet goed schoongemaakt glas. Salade was verlept. Patat was lekker en ruim voldoende

Leuke plek om te eten; simpel,lekker en betaalbaar maar zeer onverschillige en onvriendelijke meneer van de bediening ( Donald) Hierdoor niet voor herhaling vatbaar...

Altijd al een kijkje willen nemen in deze bijzondere omgeving ( restaurant ,terras,tuin) EN hier konden we onze restaurant cadeaubon inwisselen. Bij binnenkomst stond een meneer naast de toog ons aan te kijken....geen goedemiddag dus zelf maar mijn mond open gedaan om te vragen of de bon hier idd ingeleverd kon worden. "Welke bon?" was het korte antwoord/vraag. Ja ,het kon. Mijn vraag : " Kunnen we gewoon ergens gaan zitten?" Zijn antwoord : " Ja,rustig het is warm loop maar achter mij aan" Drank besteld ; het wordt neergezet zonder iets te zeggen. Bestek wordt neergezet; zonder iets te zeggen. Soep werd gebracht door iemand anders ( baas van het restaurant) die wel wat vriendelijke woorden voor ons had. De lege soepkop werd weer zonder woorden opgehaald door de meneer die ons zo "vriendelijk" begroette bij binnenkomst ( ahum) Toen de rest van het eten werd gebracht wist meneer Donald toch de woorden : " alstublieft en bon apetit" uit te spreken. Bij het ophalen van de lege borden wederom geen vraag of het gesmaakt had ( Ja hoor dat had het wel) of dat alles naar wens was. Kort samengevat: aparte ambiance,leuk terras, simpel maar lekker eten tegen een schappelijke prijs maar zeer onverschillige en onvriendelijke meneer in de bediening

Bijzonder restaurant met heel veel kerkelijke standbeelden en andere christelijke beeltenissen. Eten redelijk tegen een redelijke prijs.

€2,- voor een bakje koffie met een likeurtje, een glas water en een koekje 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻. Hier zijn de prijzen nog normaal. Het enige minpuntje zijn de stoelen, ze zitten nl niet echt makkelijk.
