It had been a while since I last visited this Alkmaar gem. I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the ambiance. The owners' enthusiasm was the icing on the cake!

Lovely Italian atmosphere. The lamb pasta was delicious, and the salmon lasagna is also highly recommended. The tiramisu looks a bit small, but once you start eating it, it is truly a divine dessert. I would definitely come back here next time I'm in Alkmaar.

What a wonderful evening we had here. Everything served was prepared with great care and looked beautiful. The presentation of the small amuse-bouches on the special spoons was a real surprise. The main course with the fresh tuna was also perfectly flavored. We will certainly be back here soon.

Il Colosseo For me, there's no better espresso in Alkmaar than at Il Colosseo. From the very first sip, you can tell that the coffee is prepared with great care and passion. Intense, aromatic, and perfectly brewed, just like you'd expect in Italy. The service is also outstanding. The owner himself is very friendly and warm, and takes his time for his guests. You immediately feel welcome and well taken care of, almost like being part of a small family. A real highlight is the cassata. It tastes like it was brought straight from Sicily—fresh, creamy, and authentic in its sweetness and texture. This is exactly how you imagine an Italian dessert should be. The entire ambiance also contributes to the positive experience. It's cozy, clean, and authentically Italian. You can feel that quality and tradition are valued here. Overall, a place you absolutely must visit in Alkmaar if you want to enjoy real Italian coffee and desserts. Highly recommended.

We went to Il Colosseo in Alkmaar with friends and had a truly wonderful evening. From the moment you step inside, you feel like you're in a small Italian trattoria – warm, lively, and simply cozy. The food was outstanding – classic Italian cuisine, freshly prepared and bursting with flavor. Whether pasta or pizza, everything was perfectly balanced and presented with great care. This is exactly what you imagine a perfect Italian evening to be. The wine was excellent 🍷 and paired perfectly with the dishes. With each glass, the atmosphere became even more relaxed; we laughed a lot and simply enjoyed the moment with our friends. The service was attentive, friendly, and very welcoming; you feel truly at ease and well taken care of. A thoroughly enjoyable evening with good food, great wine, and wonderful company. Super friendly hostess Siobhan, and Salvatore is a great guy and a charming chef. The food is sooooo delicious. The food is served quickly, and what's really nice is that they DO NOT serve pizza here. Price: average but definitely worth it.

Our family was pleasantly surprised by Salvatore's team. They have an excellent menu, including several dishes of the day. The kitchen staff gained their expertise in Sicily, and the waitresses are friendly and efficient. Salvatore maintains the Sicilian atmosphere at Il Colosseo; we experienced it as a mini trip to the Mediterranean island. A real treat! We'd love to return, hopefully to try the much-discussed "Cucina Povera" cuisine, such as Trippa alla Siciliana. Osteria is the word that comes to mind; Salvatore seems to strive to provide a cozy atmosphere, simplicity, and a sense of community. Highly recommended!

We had a delicious meal at this purely Italian restaurant. You feel like you are spending an evening in Sicily. No frills, just pure, high-quality dishes. My son had been there before and told us about the flambéed cheese in a pasta dish. My daughter wanted to try it too, and it was a lovely little show with a video that will be posted on social media. Please keep the relaxed atmosphere in the service, because you hardly see that anywhere anymore. We will definitely be back!

We ordered something by phone tonight. We really wanted to eat in the restaurant, but unfortunately it was already full (which is understandable; it's very tasty!). We had to wait a bit for our order because we were early. We were allowed to sit at the bar and received a free appetizer on the house. A very enthusiastic owner greeted us last Sunday evening. Very friendly Italian restaurant, cozy interior and delicious food. We both had a casserole, namely Lasagne traditional (minced meat) and Lasagne Salmon. Both tasted delicious and was very well seasoned. Highly recommended.

A special day in Alkmaar. One of my godchildren got married and offered us lunch at this trattoria. The owner (I assume) explained the order of the course menu. He warned against too much greed, after all an Italian lunch consists of abundant pasta dishes. We had a delicious meal and went home feeling full. I did take two espressos to avoid falling asleep at the wheel. An excellent lunchroom.

The food was very tasty, the plates were very small for the price, I ate the starter and main course and didn't really get full. We waited a very long time for the food. There was gluten-free pasta, 5 stars for that.

We have been yesterday in this place. Simply because of the rating here. The chef is a unique guy, very friendly. I could improve my Italian skills. The food is very tasty, really but the size is sooo small. We payed 90 euro for one small entry called "Tris di carpaccio" and two mains pasta and meat plus wine. It's OK but we both were still hungry. I never saw such a tiny portion of pasta to be honest!!! Yes we went to another restaurant to fill the gap. Sadly this is not a good restaurant after all at least we were not satisfied. Not recommend only if you want to talk to the funny chef.

Delicious homemade hummus, a trio of carpaccio where one is even tastier than the other, and the pasta with taleggio and truffle was an experience in itself. The wine list is also good. A happy little restaurant with excellent food. The service (owner) was present with what can be only described as Italian enthusiasm. Many guests enjoy that, although I can imagine this is a case of 'love it or hate it'. To me it depends on the occasion: it is not a place I visit for a quiet intimate dinner, but I definitely recommend it for a cheerful party.

As I didn't like the house wine (tastes like cooking wine - headache), i informed accordingly and asked if they had a lambrusco. The waitress already informed me that they didn't have it, so i asked to have a look at the wine menu. A minute later, the owner walked through the restaurant, screaming in italian to someone in the bar/kitchen that this is not a pizzeria, so they didn't have lambrusco. As I am italian and the owner already new that i speak italian, i felt uncomfortable about this scene and I asked him gently if I offended him with my request. He made it brutally clear how I should know that lambrusco is served in pizzerias and not in trattoria's, and he pointed me out calling me highclass to order a lambrusco... I WAS SHOCKED AND SHAKING. We wanted to leave immediately and the man screamed to the kitchen to stop making everything. He was really intimidating us. I regret we had the conversation in italian instead of dutch so everyone could hear him. As i stood up to walk away, the guest sitting by the table next to us asked me what happened, and as I was answering him the owner walked up to us screaming to go out and not ruin the atmosphere for the other guests.

I was amazed at how unfriendly and certainly unwelcoming the owner of this restaurant can be! There was a young lady who had not yet received the wine list, and she very politely asked for a particular wine. Whereupon the owner became terribly angry and ranted that it was not a pizzeria but a trattoria. The conversation became so awkward that I almost didn't feel like staying. They spoke Italian, but I understand this language very well. This terrible owner could have given so many nice and understandable answers such as: "We don't have this wine because it doesn't suit our menu. I can recommend another wine...blah blah blah". Instead, he made sure that these young ladies left, logically, I would have done the same, and other guests, like me, had an unpleasant evening.

Small-scale, yet authentic Italian restaurant. A small menu, partly because it does not offer a range of pizzas. Delicious pasta eaten in a nice atmosphere. The cheerful chef stands in the open kitchen joking with the staff. The wait staff is extremely friendly and we finished our meal after a delicious dessert with 2x espresso because it was so delicious. Highly recommended this fine Italian 👍👍

Tonight we had an excellent meal at a restaurant with owners and employees with passion and love for their culinary dishes. And you taste that and notice it in the way they work. An Italian restaurant that you will not soon forget, the quality is perfect and the price is actually too little for what they present. Unfortunately we are not from the area, but we would recommend everyone to eat here. A very beautiful and tasty evening, thanks!

We were early and therefore the first in the restaurant. Still a great atmosphere and that is because of the employees! And the food is delicious. Worth repeating.

At the really good restaurants you feel like you are in Italy. Emotional Italian babble could be heard in the open kitchen and far, out of sight, there was a TV showing Paolo Bonolis (Avanti un Altro)... So a good start! We met up with friends from the Italian holiday and we imagined ourselves there again despite the winter clothing. Besides all these elements, the wine, the grappa (from the rotary dryer) but especially the food was "excellent!" Beautiful amuse, antipasti with fresh products, good traditional pasta and delicious fresh, well-prepared fish dishes. Grazie per una serata meravigliosa e forza Roma semper!
