The food was tasty, the atmosphere is good, and the staff is friendly. So, basically, it was certainly a pleasant experience. However, there is one point that really spoiled the evening for us. When you order a pizza, you should be able to expect the main ingredients to match what is listed on the menu. We ordered a Diavola, where the word paprika doesn't even appear in the description, yet the pizza was loaded with huge chunks of paprika. Not just a few pieces as an addition, but in such a quantity that paprika was clearly one of the main ingredients. To be honest, I consider that a real no-go. Especially with an ingredient that has such a pronounced flavor, this simply ought to be listed on the menu. The prices for extras are also quite steep. Extra stracciatella on the pizza costs €7.50, while the quantity ultimately wasn't even comparable to a ball of burrata. In short: the food itself is good, the atmosphere is pleasant, and the staff is friendly. But do ensure that the menu actually describes what someone is getting on their plate. In my opinion, a main ingredient being completely missing from the description should not be allowed. Update: Following this review, the restaurant contacted me by phone. The conversation started well, and I was open to explaining my experience. Unfortunately, that changed when I was told several times that it would be “unfair” that I had not mentioned this during the visit. I also explained that I did not find the staff particularly approachable at that moment and that I therefore did not feel the need to turn it into a discussion on the spot. Instead of accepting that point, I was talked over several times, and the responsibility for the situation kept being placed back on me. I found that particularly unpleasant. Ultimately, I ended the conversation myself, because I do not intend to make myself feel guilty about posting an honest review about something the restaurant itself caused. Naturally, a restaurant is allowed to disagree with a review and is also allowed to contact you about it. But I do not consider it a professional way to handle feedback to blame a guest for not expressing his complaint at exactly the desired moment or in the desired manner. It is a shame, because my original review was actually quite positive regarding the food, the atmosphere, and the staff. Unfortunately, the phone call worsened my perception of the establishment rather than improved it. Review updated from 3 to 1 star.

What can I say, the dishes were delicious, the service was top-notch, and the restaurant was completely full, which I always like to see because it means people enjoy coming to eat.

Stopped by this afternoon to make a reservation, immediately started chatting with the boss, and asked what wasn't on the menu, which was truly magnificent with dishes for what we wanted to eat: a Calzone and spaghetti with shrimp. So we went to eat dinner there in the evening and were treated very kindly by the staff. We ordered everything and despite the place being full, which is normal there every evening, our order arrived quite quickly. What a treat for us, really, for a night and a day in Alkmaar. Coming from Hellevoetsluis, to come across such a great place and owner. Highly recommended if you are in Alkmaar and want to eat Italian food; a must-try and not a fake review.

A thoroughly enjoyable restaurant visit! We felt very comfortable from the moment we arrived. The service was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and welcoming. The pizzas were outstanding – generously topped with delicious ingredients, with a perfectly baked crust, and simply delicious. There was also a very good selection of wines, which complemented the food perfectly. The absolute highlight for us, however, was the homemade tiramisu – one of the best we've had in a long time. The price-performance ratio is also excellent. We will definitely be back and can wholeheartedly recommend this pizzeria!

What a wonderful experience this was. Everything was perfect down to the last detail. The pizzas were prepared really fantastically with a perfect crust. The presentation on the black slate with the stylish Roberto branding completed the picture. We thoroughly enjoyed the wine and the atmosphere. We will definitely be back here soon.

Hospitable, friendly, and delicious food

Great atmosphere, pleasant decor, professional and friendly staff, but above all, delicious food. Despite the hefty bill, Roberto is highly recommended, offering excellent value for money.

We were greeted warmly and had reserved a table at the bar. When we arrived, we saw that we could also eat outside; we mentioned this to the waitress, and it was no problem. Outside, we had a blonde waitress with a bun. It seemed as if she didn't want to be there at all. When taking orders, she was curt and unfriendly. We had indicated that the pizza could wait a little longer, but it arrived while we were still eating the bruschetta; this felt very rushed. We also had to wait a while each time before being served again. I have no idea if this was due to the busyness, but she walked past frequently. Next to us, the table had just grabbed the menu for dessert themselves. The food was absolutely fantastic, but because of the waitress's experience, I don't know if I would come back here. Especially now that I read this more often in the reviews.

This tastes like real Italy, and we go there every year, so we know for sure. The staff is also very nice and attentive, and they know a lot about the dishes and the wine. A very fine trattoria.

We come here regularly and the food is always delicious and the service friendly. Favorites are the gnocchi with truffle and beef tenderloin, vitello tonnato, lasagna, pizza with Parma ham and truffle, and of course the most delicious tiramisu. Highly recommended!

We had a delicious meal, but I found the dishes quite expensive for the portions you received. The taste and presentation were very good, though. It was very busy, but we were served quickly. Because it was so busy, it was a bit harder to talk freely with your company.

We ate here for the first time today on the recommendation of friends; this was a good choice. The food was delicious, from start to finish. For starters, we had a bruschetta that was well-seasoned and delightfully light. The service was super friendly and helpful, and they even helped us order the main course. We actually ordered 4 small dishes for shared dining, and it was kindly suggested that we have them served in 2 rounds so that all the food would be nice and warm. This was a great idea, and the food was all so tasty; every dish was so full of flavor. Highly recommended, and we will definitely be back.

The food is fantastic! Truly exquisite. We found the atmosphere a bit disappointing. The service was fine, but not top-notch. We received a rather brief and quick explanation of the menu, and we were told three times that we had a time slot. Okay, it's nice that it's clear, but when we left 5 minutes later than our time, no one was sitting in our table yet. We were actually finished eating, but it felt a bit like we had to rush. Additionally, the wine glass was not filled neatly to at least the rim (wine glasses with a line in the middle). The young man doing this was new, so we preferred to speak to a senior staff member. Instead of apologizing for it, she argued with us first. We were really perplexed by this for a moment, because it was clearly visible. She did come back and filled the glass more generously afterwards, so that was polite. But we found it very strange that her first reaction was to refute or downplay it. The funny thing was, when we walked in, the lady in question was explaining exactly to the new guy that you really have to fill it right to the brim. But the most important thing is that we had a delicious meal. Because the food was so good! You might spend a little more than at an average restaurant, but in our opinion, it is completely worth it. I can highly recommend Roberto.

We spent the entire evening on the terrace, a wonderful experience on one of the first warmer days of the year. We were served by two friendly ladies (one with a blonde bun and one with copper-blond hair) who were very attentive. They checked in occasionally to see if everything was to our liking and offered helpful advice on the wine list. Thanks to their recommendation, we enjoyed a truly delicious wine. The appetizer platter was generous and well-prepared; you really get your money's worth here. We had a wonderful evening and will definitely be back!

We often dine here, including for company outings and other occasions. The food is always good, which is why we enjoyed coming here. Unfortunately, our experience is consistently negatively impacted by one waitress (blonde hair, bun, white shirt). Her attitude, body language, friendliness, and manner simply don't suit a restaurant like this. It feels rushed, rude, and unwelcoming. An example from last time: I asked for new cutlery and only received a "Yes, sorry, that's not possible." No explanation or alternative. Today it was the same again. We asked for advice on choosing a wine, and they didn't offer any assistance at all. The tone is so blunt that you simply don't feel welcome. It really ruins the whole atmosphere at the table. Even two tables next to us said they had the exact same experience. Because of her behavior, we're now hesitant to return, which is a real shame, because it's a nice restaurant where we also enjoy visiting for business. A little more friendliness, explanation, and service would really make a difference. And a tip for staff who have been working for more than 4 years, I would stop them. They are becoming too monotonous and automatic, no hello when you arrive, but if you have a reservation, please indicate the time slot immediately. Yes, girl, we understand. Your whole evening will be ruined.

We had a wonderful meal. The pizzas were particularly delicious, and the smaller dishes were excellent! The service was also good, and they had good knowledge of the food and drinks. The only issue was the acoustics; it was a bit difficult to hear each other. We will definitely be back!

We went to Roberto's with great anticipation. We were looking forward to it. We'd heard so many positive things about it. We walked in, and the blonde waitress didn't even bother to say hello. No, we were immediately asked: "Do you have a reservation?" We said, "No. Well, you can sit at the bar with a closing time, until 6:30 PM." We arrived at 5:40 PM. And only two of us were there, and she was gone without even looking at us. No idea what she meant by "two of us," by the way. We left. No snobberies for us! What an unpleasant, inhospitable girl.

The food was really good, including the starter, main course, and dessert. The atmosphere and interior are also very nice.

The food was delicious. I just found the shrimp dish a bit sparse. There were two shrimp under a mountain of sauce. The sauce could have been a bit less and the shrimp a bit more. But otherwise, everything was delicious, and the service was excellent, professional, and friendly. December 21st had a wonderful meal and celebrated my husband's birthday. It was fantastic.

The food was delicious, all the flavors combined were superb. What a pleasure to dine here occasionally. We were really looking forward to our favorite dessert: tiramisu. Unfortunately, it was a bit disappointing: the ladyfingers were very dry, and we both missed the coffee flavor we thought they should be soaked in. Therefore, 4 stars for the food. We sat on high stools at a table for two, but our heads were directly under a speaker, so we sometimes had to speak really loudly to hear each other, hence the 1 star less. There are so many tables, you have to maneuver quite a bit to reach the restrooms and lean over tables to have a conversation because of the crowd. I'll definitely go back, but not on a Saturday.

I was there with my grandson. It's a lovely time at Roberto's, and the service is excellent. The dishes are well-seasoned and at the right temperature. The dishes are easy to share between two people. I ate the dishes by myself, and that was a lot.

We might consider coming back one day, hopefully to find that everything has improved since our first visit” The food was honestly delicious — probably one of the best Italian restaurants in Alkmaar — but unfortunately, the service completely ruined the experience. To be fair, I do understand the restaurant was very busy, and that’s not surprising because the food really is delicious. Even though no one asked if we wanted to hang our jackets or at least pointed out where we could do so, we just ended up placing them on the back of our chairs. Some mistakes can easily be overlooked when the place is full and hectic. We honestly tried to ignore them, but the same kind of service issues just kept happening again and again, and at some point, it became impossible to overlook. We had dinner here with four people (my husband, his sister, and her husband) yesterday at 18:30. Everything started fine, but the service throughout the evening was disappointing from start to finish. 1. I was the only one at the table who doesn’t speak Dutch, so my husband politely asked if the waitress could explain a few things in English — she did. However, she ignored me every time she came to the table: no eye contact, no smile, no effort to include me in the conversation. It made me feel invisible. 2. When we asked for a drink list, she said there wasn’t one. Only when we specifically asked for a wine list did she bring one. We wanted something sparkling, so we ordered a bottle of Franciacorta, which was served properly with champagne glasses. However, the wine glasses from the pre-set table were never cleared. Even after finishing our Bruschetta, we had to ask them to clear the glasses before the starters were served. 3. When we shared dishes and asked for clean small plates, the waitress placed the new plates from behind me, stacking them right in front of me and spreading them from there. This was uncomfortable and simply unprofessional. 4. The most unpleasant part came later: while clearing the main course, another waitress accidentally dropped a piece of cutlery that hit my back and spilled food into my hair. She didn’t apologize or even check if I was okay — she just walked away. I had to call her back to say, “Excuse me, it fell on me.” Only then she said “Sorry, sorry, I’m really sorry,” but without sincerity. I asked for something to clean my hair, and she brought a pink tablecloth, which was totally inappropriate. I then had to ask for wet wipes myself — the ones they usually provide with seafood dishes. 5. When our first bottle of bubble was nearly finished, the waitress poured drinks for only three of us, leaving one person (my husband) without any. Then she took the bottle away without asking if we wanted another. My husband sat without a drink for a while until another waitress eventually came to ask if we would like something else. This shows a complete lack of attention to detail. 6. Also, when serving drinks, they served my sister-in-law first and me last, even though there were two women and two men at the table. Basic service etiquette suggests serving ladies first. This made me feel even more invisible. It’s a real pity, because the food was wonderful — but I would never return after being treated this way. If management doubts what happened, they can easily check the CCTV footage from that evening. In the end, I truly hope the owner can improve the service and train the staff properly. It’s not fair to the chef who clearly works hard to cook such beautiful food — only for the poor service to ruin the entire experience.

Once again, we are extremely satisfied with virtually everything. When booking online, I asked if they could serve us a glass of Prosecco or Spumante upon arrival, as we had something to celebrate. They duly complied, so everything went smoothly from the start. The service was polite and friendly, and the food... incredible, so intensely delicious. We'd love to come back again.
