We ate here last Thursday! We stumbled upon it because it looked so inviting, so we walked in. We didn't have a reservation, which might have been necessary since it was almost full. The host was incredibly friendly and said a table would be ready within 15 minutes, otherwise he referred us to another restaurant nearby, which he also claimed was his. But we decided to wait anyway, and we were seated in less than 15 minutes! The food was incredibly fresh and well-prepared! We had the pasta (salmon and seafood) twice! It arrived quickly. The wine was good! The waiters were friendly; they don't speak Dutch very well (they do speak Italian), but they were able to explain it reasonably well. We had good coffee and tried the classic tiramisu dessert, which was highly recommended! And for the quality of the food, the price is reasonable! Definitely worth a visit.

We discovered Il Giardino in Maastricht during a lunch for two, and it was a wonderful experience! The salmon tagliatelle and carbonara were truly delicious, with generous portions. Despite a hearty meal, I couldn't resist trying the tiramisu, which was equally excellent. The service was fast and friendly, and the place is charming and welcoming. For a main course, dessert, and a drink, you should expect to pay around €30, which seems perfectly reasonable given the quality offered. It was my first visit, but certainly not my last during my next trip to Maastricht. I highly recommend it! 🍝

Nice Italian restaurant. The house red wine was delicious, the ravioli, pizza, and dessert were delicious. The service was quick. We arrived a bit late in the evening, which wasn't a problem. We were three Bachelors and one child, and everyone was satisfied. Compliments...

Very atmospheric and pleasant place. The service is top notch and the fact that the staff uses a lot of Italian words when communicating adds a special charm, so you really feel like you're in Italy. The waiting time is moderate, the food is very tasty, at least the lasagna was the best I've ever tasted. I recommend booking a table in advance.

We waren 20 minuten te vroeg, maar dat was geen probleem, dus dat was prettig. Het is een nette zaak. De bediening ging vlotjes en het personeel was vriendelijk. Het eten zelf was gewoon lekker. Wel een beetje 'kaal' geserveerd: geen garnituur of iets van groente bij de lamskoteletten. En de patat kwam zonder mayo/ketchup. Al met al niks mis mee, maar ook geen uitschieter.

I love the atmosphere at this place. The pizza was very good and the staff is very friendly.

The pasta trio was awful. Our pasta was served five minutes after we ordered it. And they even dared to claim everything was fresh. It's amazing that you can get this ready in five minutes. It felt like everything had been scooped out of a bain-marie.

It’s a mystery how this place is so busy and has received 4 out of 5 stars. If you served supermarket pasta here, most people wouldn’t notice the difference. The food is overpriced, bland, and does a disservice to Italian cuisine. On top of that, the service was slow and unfriendly, and the place was so overcrowded it felt more like a school cafeteria than a restaurant.

Leuke plek, wat rommelig aangekleed en smal qua ruimte. Bediening, vooral oudere man vriendelijk. Eten was erg lekker, vooral voorgerechtjes die we besteld hadden. Niet alle zitplaatsen zijn even gezellig om te zitten.

Heerlijke authentieke Italiaanse gerechten. Gezellige sfeer en vriendelijke bediening. Een stukje Italië vlake bij het Onze Lieve Vrpuweplein in Maastricht. Uitgebreide kaart, voor elk wat wils, pizza, pasta, vlees, vis. We komen zeker weer terug.

Great atmosphere and Italian food

Very nice place. Everything is freshly made, according to them, and that is undoubtedly true. Although reheated fresh pasta has a different structure than fresh from the pan. All in all, a delicious meal and absolutely friendly staff at the table. So we will definitely come back.

Anyone who knows and enjoys good Italian cuisine other than pizza should not visit Il Giardino. The interior is good.

Super friendly, attentive staff, very hardworking. They also come from the hospitality industry and that really makes the difference so often. Of course the food, which was of good quality. The pasta pomodore to lick your fingers and the pizza pecorino wow, compliments. Beautiful location at the Onze Lieve Vrouwe church. Recommended!

The food was delicious, authentic Italian cuisine, the downside is that you sit on top of each other in the restaurant and therefore noisy and busy.

A very nice discovery this afternoon! The staff is extremely friendly, present just enough to make you feel welcome without being intrusive. The dishes are copious and the quality is there, which fully justifies the price. Special mention to the truffle ravioli, generously garnished with shavings: a real delight! We will come back with pleasure.

A nice Italian restaurant, traditional cousin , the service was ok as well as the atmosphere . Wine was nice. The food was less tasty which is the important part. The calamari was over cooked and chewy, the shrimps salad had no taste but the shrimps were actually quit nice. Spaghetti carbonara was quite bad.

Voelt alsof je in een vreetschuur zit, binnen een half uur binnen en buiten. Slappe pizza. Veel Engelstalig personeel. Je zit heel ongezellig, je kan niet naar buiten kijken, ramen voorzien van folie en glazen dak ook gecamoufleerd. Niet voor herhaling vatbaar.

Super tasty Italian on OLV square with a wide choice of different pastas and pizzas. It was very busy when we were there, so the waiting time was somewhat longer even after booking. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the hospitality and food.

The boss gave us the drink, then it was gone, another waiter took the order. There was a 1.15 minute wait for the food. The pizza was swimming in liquid. It would be nice to give some olives and a few breadsticks in advance. We asked for the bill and the boss's dad just came in and immediately took the money. We'll never come here again. They are not friendly either.

Waited far too long for the food (which was good) and also had to wait too long for drinks while there were plenty of staff. Too much hectic too. Tables are far too close together, very irritating. Starter bruchetta and focaccia took 1 hour...then 3 x pasta and final bill €106,- I think that's a bit pricey. It was the last time for me.

Ho apprezzato molto il cibo, mi sembrava davvero di essere tornato in Italia, anche perché il servizio è veramente italiano. Il servizio era estremamente cordiale e veramente appassionato. L'unico commento che posso fare è che secondo me la cucina potrebbe essere ancora più siciliana, ancora più autentica. Tornerò sicuramente presto!!

Het slechtste wat ik ooit voorgeschoteld kreeg op restaurant. Een stukje kabeljauw, bedolven onder een berg, wat het dichtst te omschrijven valt als spaghettisaus met dikke rauwe pellen ajuin, rijkelijk overgoten met een totaal nutteloze vieze bruine stroperige substantie. Walgelijk. 🤢🤢🤢

Very nice italian restaurant in the center of beautiful Maastricht. We went there for dinner with a group of friend (6 of us in total). The food was on point and the staff seemed somewhat under a lot of pressure and stress because the restaurant was full and very loud. We had a great time. Only thing is that when paying they didn't want to split the bill - ok makes sense for big groups, I get it.

Redelijke maaltijd. Slechte bediening, wc's rommelig. Zelfs op de rekening moesten we een kwartier wachten. De deur naar het "privé" deel is smerig tee noemen en ben benieuwd hoe de staat van de keuken is.

We had a delicious meal, but it is a pity that the staff never comes to your table themselves. Bij telefonische reservatie gevraagd de tafel wat in te kleden ter gelegenheid vh vieren v een verjaardag; werd meteen aangegeven dat ze dit niet doen. Bij aankomst vond men onze reservatie niet meteen terug, in alle drukte was men eerder onbeleefd. Was alleszins geen warm welkom! Vervolgens kregen we een tafel toegewezen waar we bijna IN de keuken zaten, echt een tafel die bijgeplaatst werd midden in de doorgang, met bovendien ook nog andere mensen aan onze tafel. Zeer veel drukte en kabaal vd keuken vlak achter ons, en de luidruchtige onbekende mensen aan onze tafel. Het eten was nochtans lekker, jammer dat de omkadering niet navenant was ...

Eten was goed en kwam snel. Bediening was slecht. Menukaarten werden niet aangegeven, vriendelijkheid was ver te zoeken. Het leek alsof het personeel een hekel had aan hun baan.

So the staff asked us (and about 10 other guests) was: either move to another table (but it was already completely full) or pay the bill and then leave. Eten was heerlijk.Jammer dat aan ons (en zeker 10 andere gasten) meteen na ons nagerecht gevraagd werd om te verplaatsen naar een ander tafeltje (vreemd..want alle tafeltjes waren vol) of de rekening te betalen en te gaan.Er was een grote groep mensen binnengekomen die blijkbaar nog wilde eten.Daar wilde ze dus plek voor vrijmaken.Dus zeker 12 mensen stonden op en liepen allemaal tegelijk naar buiten. Jammer dat de gezellige avond dan zo moet eindigen.

We made for a reservation for a group of us with 2 little dogs - not knowing that DOGS ARE NOT ALLOWED. Host who greeted us wasn’t the friendliest man around. Dog owners went for a walk and the rest of us sat down to eat. Food was pretty good - pizza was tasty - prosciutto was excellent! For Holland, pizza was fine. We also had some soup - tortellini in brodo - good but served lukewarm. Our funny waiter made up for the gloomy service we received when we first arrived. Worth going here - I would definitely recommend. Great location - right in the center by the church.

Normally I always take the pasta carbonara, this remains my favorite pasta here. Also had a great meal yesterday, friendly service, fast and always super tasty. We didn't make a reservation, but luckily we were still able to sit.

Op deze maandagavond zit dit restaurant afgeladen vol! De sfeer is gezellig en op zijn Italiaans. De bediening is erg vriendelijk. Wij bestellen van de uitgebreide kaart een heerlijke pizza proscetta en een goede pizza prosciutto. Ook de risotto fruti di mare is erg lekker en royaal geportioneerd. Tenslotte is de traditionele kalfsossobuco uitstekend bereidt en smaakvol! Een prima Italiaans restaurant met stevige, maar te verantwoorden prijzen.

Kwaliteit van eten is top. Het ging jammer genoeg op een aantal dingen mis waardoor onze beleving minder leuk was. Het bestelde bruiswater was platwater , maar dat vonden we geen probleem. Als voorgerecht hadden we 3 x vitello tonato besteld. De engelse ober vroeg daarop: one to share ? No, 3 vitello tonato. Het voorgerecht wat we daarna kregen konden we niet thuis brengen, we stonden echt op het verkeerde been. Serveren ze zo de vitello tonato en waar zijn de kappertjes en de saus? We probeerde de aandacht van de ober te trekken maar door drukte werd dat niet gezien. Uiteindelijk kwam er iemand vragen wat r aan de hand was en vroegen we wat we aan het eten waren. O dat was de tonijn carpaccio maar gaan jullie daar nu naar vragen terwijl er al van gegeten is?een beetje lacherig liep hij weg met mededeling dat hij wel ging navragen. Dat kwam heel naar over en gaf ons een vervelend gevoel. Uiteindelijk kwam er een portie op tafel om te delen, geen sorry dat het fout was gegaan. Met de pizza’s werd er ook een verkeerde neergezet maar gelukkig wel snel de juiste gekregen. Het eten was echt heel erg goed maar de beleving was door deze voorvallen niet zoals het moest zijn, jammer!

Ok food; nothing that blew my mind. Truffle pizza was burnt a bit on the bottom and the salmon pasta was pretty simple. Maybe there are better options on the menu. We were seated as walk ins, and were told they needed the table in an hour. Everything arrived in time so there was no rush. The atmosphere is very loud with the open space.

The staff at Il Giardino have brought a slice of Italy to Maastricht. Absolutely delicious dishes accompanied by the warmth of Italian culture. It was a very busy evening at Il Giardino, yet we had so much fun. I’ll definitely return on my next trip. We had four to our party. Every dish was excellent. We kicked it off with a Calamari appetizer. I was in the mood for an old fashion plate of lasagna… simple… ha ha. Their lasagna is as I remember it as a young adult living in Italy. Thank you for taking me back! The wine selection was awesome. If you follow my reviews, you’re aware of my recent travels in Sicily. Il Giardino presented us with a bottle of Donnafugata Tancredi. Did I mention “I’ll be back”? The staff was/is spectacular. They are the secret ingredient.

Reserved for 3 people and indicate that we are coming with a stroller. Stroller was a problem, counted as 4th person, was communicated in an inhospitable manner. Could have been much friendlier.

La corteza y la salamis eran como goma. Comíamos pizza de goma. Horrible! Cuando les dijimos lo que pensamos, el propietario no estaba contento. Qué pena. Debería comer su pizza y ver cómo saben.

Delicious food for a good price and top service!

Very disappointed by the service. I asked for a small glass of tap water because I needed to take medicine. They charged me 1,50 for it at the end - I just didnt see it until after we had left. Its not about the euro and a half, but this lack of generousity when it comes to a small glass of water...Disgusting.

He estado aquí varias veces y la consistencia del servicio y la comida están por encima de la media. Esta vez tuve la lingüina con almejas. Era fresco y exquisito. Lo terminé con el mejor tiramisú que he probado con un espresso doble. Recomiendo encarecidamente este restaurante.
