We both got food poisoning from the lasagna and the pasta

Amazing food, wonderful service, and such a lovely atmosphere.. Everything was fresh, delicious, and full of authentic Italian flavors. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the atmosphere was cozy definitely coming back!

Biggest disappointment in Maastricht During a stay in Maastricht, we wanted to eat outside. Our hotel had an excellent restaurant, but no terrace. That is why we chose an eatery on the Markt, where Pizzeria Napoli seemed like an authentic alternative amidst the touristy eateries. A staff member even assured us that we “wouldn't find anything better here.” Oh well... we took the bait. That confidence vanished quickly. Before we were even properly seated, a basket of bread and olives was placed on the table. It looked well-presented, but the bread was rock hard — as if it had been passed around for days. We left it and ordered bruschettas (four pieces, 8.30 euros). They were acceptable, although there was a layer of balsamic vinegar at the bottom of the plate, which is superfluous if the quality of the tomatoes is good. The calamari fritti (12.50 euros), advertised as a specialty, confirmed our doubts. It was breaded, but tough and unpleasant to eat. Calamari in a third-rate pita bar are better. The carpaccio (12.50 euros) was decent: nothing special, a bit too cold, but okay, I don't want to complain about that. The main course was the low point: Saltimbocca alla Romana (27.50 euros). Not lean veal, but a tough, overly thick piece of meat. Was it even veal? It could just as easily have been an aged steak. The ham lay cold on top, and there was no trace of sage. When we brought this up, we were told that “everyone eats it differently.” That is remarkable, because saltimbocca is a classic dish with a fairly standard preparation. An alternative was suggested, but the trust was gone. Especially when the people at the table next to us called their pizza a mistake as well. With a bottle of San Pellegrino (75 cl, while we asked for half a liter) and a glass of mediocre white wine, the bill came to 74.20 euros. The only compensation was a free limoncello — something that is offered as standard in many Italian restaurants. We eventually went back to the hotel, where a simple bowl of Dutch tomato soup surprisingly tasted more Italian than anything we were served at Napoli. Maastricht has excellent restaurants — Vaca Tapas, for example — but this experience at Pizzeria Napoli on the Market Square was unfortunately an exception in a negative sense.

I went out for dinner with my wife today....nice weather and a pleasant atmosphere, you would think.... But nothing could be further from the truth.... The manager's daughter was clearly only interested in me....and my wife was clearly just too much....and for the manager....the father...it was all okay When at a certain point only I was asked if everything was to our liking and not my wife at all... We asked for the bill and left NO RESPECT NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!

I find it unacceptable that when I want to come here for a quiet meal with my husband... the daughter of the house goes around flirting with him... She comes to give him compliments... she only comes to ask him if the food is good... You don't do this to your customers. Even my husband felt uncomfortable with it. We will NEVER come back here again!! SHAME

The pizza was delicious, and the outdoor seating area is very nice and cozy. The interior could be a bit nicer. The restrooms were disappointing and need renovation. Overall, though, a good place.

Pizza of excellent quality. You notice immediately that the dough has had a long time to rise, allowing the gluten to develop well. As a result, the pizza is nice and light and easier to digest. The ingredients are of good quality. The only difference from a traditional pizza from Naples is that the tomato sauce has been slightly adapted to Dutch tastes. I am truly surprised, because I rarely go anywhere in the Netherlands where both the pizza and the service are so good and so fast. And for this quality, the price is really surprisingly low.

Fantastic atmosphere and delicious Italian food. There is plenty to see and do. Pizza oven at the front of the restaurant and an open kitchen at the back. Red and white checkered tablecloths. Our favorite for pizza in Maastricht for years!

Absolutely fantastic experience! The pizza was delicious — perfectly cooked, full of flavor, and made with fresh, quality ingredients. You can really taste the Italian passion behind the food. The staff were very friendly, welcoming, and professional. A nice bonus for Romanian customers is that some of the staff also speak Romanian, which makes you feel even more welcome and comfortable. The atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable, and the location right in the heart of Maastricht makes it even better. Definitely a place I would happily come back to. If you love authentic Italian pizza and great hospitality, I highly recommend this restaurant!

I ordered pasta with clams, and although it was tasty I found it unsafe. There were some broken shells with sharp edges, some broken shell pieces were very small and could easily be swallowed without noticing. The kitchen is supposed to remove broken shell pieces before cooking.

My favorite restaurant for a shopping day in Maastricht. Delicious food, good service. The atmosphere is very rustic and cozy.

We had incredibly delicious pasta, lovely house wine, and felt like we were in Italy. The atmosphere is very authentically Italian.

Ready-made pasta that is still too hard. What a dump! The staff stares at every woman and practically tries to pick her up. Unkempt staff with terrible teeth. We are never coming here again!!! Tablecloths outside need replacing, lampshades inside made from exactly the discarded tablecloths. If I could give 0 stars, I would have done so!!!

Actually not even worth 1 star. Scandalous. Lasagna was cold in the middle, so it was a reheated meal. Pasta arrabiata: the pasta was hard, there were hairs in the food. The plate was dirty from old food. Never again for us.

Even though the location is a bit odd and you're not quite sure what to expect, all I can say is: "Super food!" We hadn't had pizza 🍕 this delicious in ages. Generally, though, there's room for improvement when it comes to service. The owner seems to be keeping an eye on everything and constantly nudging his staff in the right direction 😜. Despite that, highly recommended.

The bread served beforehand was hard and I think it had been sitting there too long. My carpaccio no longer looked red, so that had been sitting there too long as well. And we had just started our starter when they brought out the main course, and the waiter just wanted to put it down. When we pointed this out, he took it away again and said he would warm it up later. That is not how it should be; you made the mistake, and we are supposed to receive a freshly prepared dish. You won't see us here again.

We chose Pizzeria Napoli by chance and got it as a take-away. Delicious Pasta Cabonara we took home with garlic butter and delicious bread on the side.

I ate here years ago and it was super tasty back then... now I went to eat there yesterday and I had a misto dello chef... the food was served super fast but my pasta was burnt in places and super hard... and it lacked flavor... but I didn't find it grossly gross... once home my stomach and intestines started acting up and sure enough, during the night it hit me, I threw everything up and had terrible stomach pain.

Unfortunately had a very disappointing experience here. I've waited for 40-50 minutes and they couldn't get my food served. Many people that came after me ate and left. At the end food wasn't served, payed just for the drinks and left the place hungry.

I had a pizza that I had chosen myself, but the employee gave me a completely different pizza with toppings that were not properly distributed or cut. The pizza was inedible.

Great restaurant! The staff is very pleasant and friendly. The service is quick and the food is very good. We had a wonderful time, and my dog ​​even got her own little bowl of water. Bonus points for practicing your French! I highly recommend this restaurant.

The restaurant itself is cozy and the decoration I really liked. Unfortunately, the lack of space between tables can be a hassle. I had spaghetti carbonara, which was delicious but a bit too oily. The tiramisù was delicious as well! I like the sweet housewine a lot. And very importantly, the service was great and everyone was very kind.

My 5-year-old son and I both suffered from food poisoning after eating the spaghetti bolognese at this restaurant. This is not a minor issue—it clearly raises serious concerns about food safety and hygiene standards. What makes this even more frustrating is that we had visited before without any problems. Unfortunately, this time the cleanliness of the restaurant seemed questionable, and the outcome confirmed our doubts. Food poisoning, especially involving a child, is unacceptable. Strongly advise caution before dining here.

We didn't like the pizza dough, but overall the place is in a great location. The service is fast, and the staff are friendly. It overlooks the historic square, so the location is fantastic. It has both indoor and outdoor seating, and sitting outside on a nice day is very enjoyable.

Napoli is one of our favorites in Maastricht! We've been coming here for years. It's an authentic Italian restaurant. The owners are very friendly; there's always a table or they'll find one for you. Reservations are essential, though, as it fills up quickly. Both the waitstaff and the chef, who kneads the dough next to you, work incredibly hard. A joy to watch! The pace is always good: order a drink, and it's in front of you within a minute. You always get an appetizer of baguette, herb butter, and olives. My husband always orders a pizza, and I usually have the lasagna. We haven't had better pizzas, and the lasagna and other pasta dishes are equally delicious! And the prices are very reasonable, which isn't common these days. Highly recommended!

To be honest, this place is not tasty at all. We ordered two pizzas, cannelloni, and a Caprese salad. The pizza was overbaked and very dry. I have no idea what kind of meat was in the cannelloni, but the taste was awful. Do not order the tiramisu — it has nothing in common with real tiramisu. The restrooms are a disaster. I’m honestly shocked that a restaurant like this manages to survive here.

A small but cozy restaurant. Shortly after being seated, a basket of bread and herb butter was placed on the table. It was quite tasty, considering the bread was incredibly hard and probably not very fresh. Drinks arrived quickly, and service was smooth. For our main course, we had a salami pizza, which we asked if we could add extra mushrooms, which was no problem, thanks for that, and a cannelloni pizza. Both were very tasty and well-flavored, though there was quite a bit of oil on the pizza. We would definitely go back! The food was delicious, and the prices were very reasonable. The restrooms are very small and look a bit outdated and unkempt. Unless it's absolutely urgent, I wouldn't use them.

The restaurant has a soul, it could be a bit more refreshed but the most interesting part is in the plate. Despite the use of an electric oven, the pizzas are amazingly good and tasty. The pasta taste very good too, I enjoy the arrabiata penne.

Gotta be honest that suspicions were high that this place was going to be somewhat of a tourist trap what with it's location in central Maastricht. Throwing caution to the wind, primarily on the number of glowing Google reviews, we thought we'd give it go and it proved to be nothing short of brilliant. The service was attentive but not overbearing, the food absolutely delicious and the Tiramisu.... Good grief, without a doubt it was the yummiest Tiramisu I have ever tasted. Price-wise it was great value for money and for the two of us it came to a very reasonable €70. Seriously cannot recommend this place enough!!!

I visited Pizzeria Napoli in Maastricht today and was extremely disappointed. The service was very slow, and despite arriving earlier, we watched several tables who came after us get served first. The food itself left a lot to be desired — the quality simply does not match the high prices they charge. Overall, it was a frustrating experience and definitely not worth the money. I would not recommend this place.

On the positive side, the 20% student discount is generous and really lightened the bill. The service was efficient, the pizza dough tasty, and the coffee quite good. On the negative side, the green salad was drenched in olive oil and far too salty — the dressing was a total miss, and the salad itself was tiny. The toilet, with its wobbly tap and questionable hygiene, is best avoided unless you are desperate. As for the cheese on the pizza, I scraped most of it off — definitely not fior di latte or mozzarella di bufala like you’d expect in Naples.

A restaurant with a truly wonderful atmosphere! The excellent first impression is confirmed by the impeccable service! The food arrives promptly and tastes absolutely perfect! The staff are very attentive and genuinely friendly! Truly delicious food, just like in bella Italia! Even the crème brûlée is perfect! We have rarely eaten so well outside of Italy!

We were able to get a table right away without a reservation. We were lucky, because fifteen minutes later everything was full. The atmosphere feels authentic and cozy. The downsides, for me, were the very cramped seating and the outdated, unsanitary restrooms. You could also see into the kitchen, where a fly trap is hanging. Such things are very unappetizing and not pleasant to look at while eating. Anyway, the food was delicious, and that's what mattered. Authentic Italian pizza, deliciously flavorful. The service is slow, and most of the staff don't speak Dutch, which is a drawback. They don't refill our drinks and had to look around for ages to ask someone if we wanted another drink; this should be faster. All in all, a fine restaurant that I would definitely return to.

I ordered parma ham pizza which was bery salty. After eating i had stomach pain and when i came back to home i threw it all up. I admit that my stomach is sensitive but it was my first time that i throw up after pizza. Not recommended

I went to this restaurant with my girlfriend last weekend. We had made a reservation, but upon arrival, we weren't even asked if we wanted to sit inside or outside. We were simply seated at a table outside, very close to other people—so close that you could barely push your chair back to sit down. We then had to wait quite a while before we were finally helped. I ordered a chicken pizza and my girlfriend one with tuna. The tuna pizza had olives on it, and she had asked if they could be removed and if she could have onions instead. The waiter said they could and would add them. When we received our pizzas, the olives were still on them and the onions were nowhere to be seen, so we called someone and sent them back, asking again if the olives could be removed and onions added. They did, but the pizza came back without the olives and with raw onions. They could have at least put the pizza back in the oven so the onions weren't raw anymore. There was also a cart advertising some kind of alcoholic drink, which was quite distracting. My chicken pizza was generally quite good, but the chicken was a bit too dry and the edges were largely burnt. Finally, we asked for the bill and found we had to pay extra for the onions. We hadn't been told about this when ordering, and it wasn't even mentioned on the menu. It wasn't a large amount—€0.50—but it's more about the principle that they should inform their guests about something like this. The tuna pizza was also inedible; cutting the pizza was basically impossible, and it tasted awful. We had high hopes for this restaurant because it looked good from the outside, but unfortunately, it wasn't. The inside was also a mess, with flies, ingredients, and trash everywhere where tables should be.

Very dirty and messy inside, a very cramped patio, tasteless pizzas with very tough crusts and bases, raw ingredients, promoters working with the restaurant who come to advertise a product and disturb all the guests on the patio with it, incorrect orders, and unexpected extra charges on the receipt that aren't listed on the menu or verbally. Very stingy and unfriendly to guests. Save your money and go to a better restaurant in Maastricht!

The staff was very friendly and made excellent food recommendations. Manager Samir was able to recommend the best options, exceeding our expectations. We had a wonderful time during our visit, and the food was excellent! The restaurant is highly recommended for delicious food and a pleasant time.

Please don't plan on dining here!🙏 The pizza was good, but the pasta with vegetables (few vegetables) was cold and unseasoned. Five minutes after the pasta arrived, the waiter told us the pizza would be right away. However, we had to wait another 10 minutes. When the waiter brought the pizza 15 minutes after the pasta, he knocked over his red wine glass. The wet tablecloth wasn't changed. He took the cold pasta to prepare a new batch. After another five minutes, he thankfully came back with a completely new wine and then immediately took the pizza to prepare it again. Back to the beginning! After another 10 minutes, however, only the new batch of pasta was brought. We gave up on our goal of sharing dinner together. The pizza did arrive later. Everyone involved was visibly uncomfortable with the incident, which is why no waiter ever came to our table again. We were forced to ask two waiters for the bill before we could finally leave the “pizzeria.”

Especial es una muy buena palabra para describir nuestra noche. Cuando llegamos al restaurante vimos al dueño prácticamente gritando a la gente que pasaba por alto para que viniera al restaurante. Las mesas exteriores estaban muy cerca una de la otra haciendo IT difícil caminar hasta nuestra mesa. El personal era amable, pero parecía un poco incómodo, especialmente cuando el propietario estaba cerca. Junto a nosotros se sentó lo que pensamos que era el hijo del propietario wITh un teléfono con el sonido al máximo, haciendo que escucháramos todo y dificultando tener una conversación adecuada. La comida llegó muy rápido, tristemente esto significaba que la pasta estaba muy al dente, y casi cruda. La comida se veía mejor de IT sabía. IT sabía muy comprado en tienda (la lasaña se preparó a partir de una cesta de lata) La situación del inodoro también era muy mala, la puerta estaba atascada y el cuarto de baño en sí estaba muy sucio y había arañas en el techo. Debido a todo esto terminamos saliendo después de comer quizás 3 / 4 de nuestra comida para comer postre en el restaurante de al lado, que era mucho mejor.

Had a good dinner at Napoli Pizzeria. It wasn’t the best pizza I’ve ever had, but it was good and tasty enough. Prices are reasonable for a restaurant in the city centre. There’s something for everyone on the menu: from cheese-only options to charcuterie, vegetarian pizzas, and even two halal choices (chicken pizza and pasta). The spicy oil is really good and actually spicy! They also serve bread, butter and olives when you’re seated, which is a nice touch. We did have to wait a bit for our pizzas, but it wasn’t a problem for us as we were enjoying good company and conversation. Just keep in mind that if you come really hungry, you might need to be a bit patient (luckily, there’s the bread and butter!). The decoration is quite cute with the classic red and white checkered tablecloths. The toilets could use some renovation and a bit more cleaning. The service by Samir was great, very pleasant and attentive!

The pizzas were delicious. The staff was friendly. Prices were comparable to other pizzerias on the street. However, this restaurant is outdated, and I wonder if the restrooms are properly maintained. Therefore, I find it a bit overpriced compared to other restaurants.

The pizza was really good and the staff was friendly. I would say the prices are not on the cheap side but the location is nice. You can sit outside and have a nice view of the plaza. I'm not a fan of pineapple on a pizza but my girlfriend ordered that and it was nice because the taste was not so strong and gave a nice sweet taste to some bites.

Everything was good: The chef's salad was a bit small, but delicious with a boiled egg and pickled olives. The Neapolitana pizza was large and well-topped. The appetizer came with olives and fresh bread, which was very tasty. The service was friendly, attentive, and unobtrusive.

Perfect calzone. I would like to buy some original beer glasses. Duvel and La Chouffe are just a bit more pleasant to drink from the original glass :)
