Italiaans Restaurant La Sfida (Authentic Italian cuisine) in Wijk 10 Binnenstad

The food was tasty. As noted in a previous review, the portions were manageable. Overall, the value for money isn't right. A 0.5-liter draft beer costs €9.00. We asked for some bread to dip in the sauce with our vitello tonnato. This bread, which was served later (three slices in total), was billed at €7. For the reasons stated, we wouldn't eat here again.

The pizza was hard, dry, and overly salty. The mushrooms tasted strange, and the ham was poor quality. The size was truly mini.

The staff spoke broken English and no Dutch. We ordered four pizzas, two for small children, and received six 10cm pizzas with a 4cm edge and one meager slice of salami for €50.

My partner and I had a wonderful meal at La Sfida yesterday. The atmosphere was great, the food was delicious, and the service was fantastic. We really enjoyed it!

I rarely write reviews, but I'm happy to make an exception. The food here is truly fantastic! It's also a charming place with professional and friendly service. We've had a fantastic meal here for the second time now. Ideally, let the chef decide for you with the chef's menu, and the same goes for the wine pairings.

A mini diavola is a great idea. I can never eat the whole thing. The chef definitely didn't succeed with the carbonara. The desserts are great.

What a lovely little place! You can enjoy a delicious meal here in a lovely atmosphere. Everything is made in true Italian style, which gives a wonderful feeling, and it's also a great place to eat with kids.

Finally a real Italian restaurant, carbonara and tagliatelle with shrimp exceptional! Excellent bruschetta with burrata and truffle and focaccia with oregano!!! Family atmosphere!!! If you pass by here stop!!!!! Highly recommended!

What a difference with other italian restaurants…. True italian, heaps of taste based only on good ingredients. We had a delicious eggplant starter filled with minced meat and mozzarella topped with a cherry tomato sauce which i, frustratingly enough, have not been able to replicate. Amusing and friendly staff and i left with a bag full of their homemade limoncello…. Tx, i’ll be back!!!

Had a delicious meal here. I recommend the Spaghetti alio e olio with tomatoes... excellent. Honestly don't understand why it's not busier, I'm sure it's better than the populist Italians near the square.

We were recommended the restaurant by a friend. The food we ordered was the Chef's 5 course meal and it was DELICIOUS. Each course was unique in it's own way and the owner described each dish perfectly. The staff was really friendly and tended to us really well. Would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone around Hoorn and we will definitely be coming back here.

Top class restaurant, not to be confused with an average Pizzeria.

We had a fantastic dinner at La Sfida to round off our family vacation – and it couldn't have been better. We were there with our two young children (4 and 6 years old) and received a warm welcome. Francesco looked after us with great attention and true Italian hospitality. The food was outstanding: the pasta alla Norma was wonderfully balanced, the ragù was robust and aromatic, and the carbonara was cooked to perfection. The desserts were also a highlight – both visually and in terms of taste. A true gem in Hoorn, highly recommended – even with children!

This man knows how to cook! We came here twice in 3 days after a bad experience elsewhere. You can tell the passion and knowledge about food. The pizzas are small, but they are advertised as such. They are more of a side / starter or part of a multi course meal if you order that. The main dishes here are the pasta plates. And they don’t disappoint. Every meal, side, starter we ordered was excellent. Service is also attentive and caring. Ambiente could be a tiny bit nicer if you‘re looking for fine dining, but in no way bad. Thanks for having us! We will be back

Just had dinner at La Sfida. Such a shame that we don't live near Hoorn, but we will definitely come back. The food is authentic, fresh and full of flavor as it should be. For the first time in a long time, I tasted the real herbs and olive oil that are part of Mediterranean cuisine. We returned to our apartment very satisfied with the olive oil and limoncello, which they make themselves

Amazing authentic Italian food. The staff was very welcoming and friendly. We always eat here when we are in Hoorn! The chefs menu is great and freshly cooked, as well as the a la carte menu. They also have lovely homemade Limoncello!! Enjoyed this place very much.

Can absolutely recommend this authentic Italian restaurant. We had the four course menu. It was a first-class taste experience. My highlight was the panacotta with caramel sauce...I want a dessert of that every day. I would also give this nice owner 10 stars... Go and experience this pleasure for yourself.

We had dinner here yesterday and had the truffle bruschetta with burrata, carpaccio and several small pizzas. Everyone at the table said it was the best pizza they had ever had. It was fresh, flavorful, delicious and wonderful. The service was also excellent. We will definitely come back here again.

Italian chef and service. Respect for how they manage to run the restaurant with 2 people. Good location, tasty food and friendly staff. With the exception of the pizzas, the dishes are on the pricey side.

Super delicious pasta, pizza and tiramusu

Carbonara with lumps resembling groats. Bacon is dried, dark brown pieces added to the dish. Tea - 4.80. Nightmare ! Such prices for a glass of hot water! Massacre! The pizza was tiny, soaked in tomato sauce, my 12-year-old son couldn't eat it. The pizza was not sliced. When I tried to cut it, the cheese and sauce slid off the dough. I won't be there again, but good luck!

We had a fantastic meal and celebrated our 2nd wedding anniversary here! Everything is so fresh and flavorful. The appearance of the restaurant is homely and cozy and they also have their own homemade eggplant sweet & sour for sale and much more. The service is also very pleasant, they are so friendly here and really think along with you. 100% recommended, we are packed and leave very satisfied. Until the next one!

Very good carbonara and bread! Authentic Italian, reminds me of good times in Rome. Update: ordered here now more than a dozen times and it has always been perfect. The service, the food quality, everything.

Overall, service was great and food was OK. However, I ordered the ‘Gran Frutto’ as main dish - which was severely underwhelming. This dish would fit a basic snackbar - not a restaurant that charges €26,00 - for a few fries and some dry pulpo. Wouldn’t recommend this dish.

I had the greatest experience ever. The food portions are small but it helps you to feel less bloated. Service was amazing i loved the italian guy and how he talked to us. The Lady with piercings was also very very nice. Food is absolutley amazing it was a wonderful experience. Music was nice. Interior was nice. Not expensive at all for what you get. It felt pretty fancy too. Definitely recommend this restaurant!

A warm place where on a November evening it is good to relax for an evening 🔥 The dishes are carefully prepared and the ingredients are of high quality. The wine is also well chosen and the staff ensures that you are well served. Very Expensive and not tasty! pizza 15 cm, very hard dough, you can break your teeth! beer 10€, children also not satisfied, we will not go there again, bruschetta pomodoro 6 pieces from the end of bread, 1 portion is 3 pieces, very small, and in the pictures nice big but only in the pictures! Never Again ! ! !

We had a 4 course dinner for €55.00 pp. It was tasty but the price-quality was out of balance. Shame. Atmosphere and service were fine.

This place is highly recommended. It's a bit on the pricey side, but you get what you pay for. The quality of the food is phenomenal and the inside is also beautifully and rustically decorated. The employees also all speak Italian, which really gives you the feeling that you have landed in a piece of Italy in the Netherlands. The employees were also very nice and the service was very fast.

Nice cozy and atmospheric restaurant. The service also makes it pleasant. There is plenty of choice on the menu for both small and big eaters. And not just pizza or pasta. You can also opt for a gluten and lactose-free diet.

It was very tasty and we were treated very hospitably. The focaccia was great and automatically tasted good. We had great pasta that was al dente. The tiramisu was originally interpreted. All of this was of high quality.

Food is fantastic, the dishes are of very good quality. The price is therefore a bit higher, but that is also allowed in Hoorn because we already have 20 cafes with steak and fries. Starter was very tasty, I would recommend something other than carpaccio. Main course is also very good (we had sea bass) but the pastas such as Carbonara (without cream!) as it should also looked good. But I would like to have some more vegetables and potatoes and a little more pasta. The portions are just not enough for a big guy.

Italian runs by Italians. So expect genuine Italian cuisine like they learned from mum. Nice wines and a lovely host with plenty of that Italian charm. So not your run of the mill pizza place you find everywhere. Cannot recommend it more.

Go here if you want a variety of tasty food served by an awesome chef. Dining here was a true pleasure, both for the stomach and spirit. We went with a four course meal and let the chef decide, a well portioned and timed meal that satisfied but did not leave us bloated. The food was great, but even more the energy and personality that Francesco brought to our dining experience enhanced it to the next level. All the staff were friendly and attentive, yet the chef goes above and beyond, standing out as a force of good nature. 10/10!

Duration… Service okay, could be better Food is small, more snacks for small appetites.

I went here with my girlfriend, we came a little bit late without a reservation but that was no problem. The ober that greeted us was very friendly and immediately made us feel welcome and comfortable. The good part didn't start there but started at the first bite of the special bruschetta on toast with burrata and truffel, you can taste the passion and effort the chef puts into the food. I would recommend everybody to pay a visit at La Sfida and taste a little bit of Italian heritage and atmosphere.

Eccezionale! Eating here gave us such joy. The food is of extraordinary quality, everything is home made with the highest care and competence. It was such a surprise to find this level of quality in Hoorn, which even in Italy would be not common to find. Francesco is an excellent host, genuinely friendly and caring. We live in Rotterdam but we will definitely be back to taste the rest of the menu. Grazie tante e a presto.

Real Italian restaurant, very good and very friendly owner

We had dinner at this restaurant in Hoorn. Intrigued by both the name and the history of the owners, from Puglia, we decided to test their cuisine. There is little to say...spectacular! Heartfelt congratulations to Francesco and Sara for their passion for this work! Well done, well done and still good!!

We had a delicious meal, we were visiting the city and were therefore the first guests at 5 p.m., but it quickly became full. Warmly received, the specific starter of rolls with cream and truffle was excellent and that continued with scampi and calamari with fries and finally another special of the day mango pie with thick cream. We also received genuine, friendly, modest attention during the meal. It's that we're not from that area otherwise we would go more often! Definitely recommended!

Overall, the food was delicious and the service was very customer friendly, but the prices are skyrocketing. Paying 45 euros for four small bruschettes and a few small breads with burrata is an outrage, and three beers for 45 euros is, in my opinion, excessive. Sorry, but the prices really shocked me.

Excellent Italian cuisine prepared with passion and professionalism. The owners were very welcoming and courteous. Agnolotti with braised meat are extraordinary, the desserts are super! You can feel that the chef is especially passionate about preparing desserts. Well done guys, they deserve top marks!

Bad service, we didn't get the drinks we ordered. When we made a comment about this, the waitress reacted very unkindly. They don't have regular pizzas, only small ones. These small pizzas can be compared to a quarter of a normal pizza and are therefore very pricey.

Francesco and Sara are amazing chefs and hosts! We love the ambience, the food is prepared fresh and tastes amazing, and we always feel welcome and at home! We highly recommend La Sfida.

We went to this restaurant a year ago and really liked it. Finally a real restaurant with Italian dishes (therefore not with Dutch contamination), a super welcoming and bright environment (instead of the usual gloomy Holland style environment). After a year we returned because we were very happy with the first experience. Chef Francesco was very kind and very nice, always smiling and ready to ask us if we were satisfied. The same goes for the staff (all Italian, to really feel at home 😊). And then the food: all delicious, REAL Italian flavours. Super recommended!!!

A very warm host whose passion you can feel as a guest! A great evening! The food was excellent! Individual requests were taken into account. We each ordered 3 courses. The portions were perfect and the servings were flavor explosions! The greeting from the kitchen heralded the enjoyment. A special highlight was the dessert served in a chocolate pot. The homemade limoncello at the end was also impressive again! Our two dogs also felt comfortable and were immediately offered water. Absolute recommendation! Delicious meal with 2 people for 5 courses. Very affordable for 5 courses. The food was delicious. We arrived quite early so we were one of the first in the restaurant. The service was top notch. The wine list was clear and well described. The courses were well spread throughout the evening and the food was perfect. Would recommend to everyone!

AUTHENTIC Italian cuisine restaurant! Delicious appetizers; simple and very Italian first courses; delicious second courses of meat and fish; Excellent choice of sweets and desserts too. To accompany the dinner there was a full-bodied Primitivo wine and a delicate Pinot grigio. Elegant and bright venue, in the center of Hoorn, where chef Francesco welcomes guests with typically Italian warmth. Highly recommended!

We had a delicious meal here. Italian food made by Italians who prefer to speak Italian to you. Then you already know that you are getting real Italian food. The staff is very friendly and pleasant. Good atmosphere and not too busy for a Friday. This is highly recommended.

We came here on Saturday evening. Even though we had not made a reservation, a place was still found for us. I watched with genuine admiration how the hostess and chef had everything under control. The food was all freshly made in house. Ravioli with beef is highly recommended, but also the 4 cheese pizza. The chef called it a small pizza, but it was double thick with the 4 types of cheese. Two types of desserts and limoncello with cappuccino and black coffee. In addition, the cozy atmosphere with attention to the guests. We were glad we found them in passing.

When we entered we were not immediately enthusiastic, because it was very quiet. However, this turned out to make no difference, there was a super nice host. He spoke Italian, Dutch and English together. A real Italian, he created the atmosphere in the restaurant. The food was very tasty, super coordinated. The pace between courses was also good, the portions were also just right. The coffee, wine and limoncello tasted delicious! In short, a super fun evening!

Een echt authentiek italiaans restaurant. We kiezen hier altijd voor het verrassingsmenu, de eerste keer echt boven verwachting en de laatste keer viel het wel wat tegen. De keus voor Spaghetti bolognese en stukjes pizza margherita binnen het menu vond ik niet zo... als je kijkt naar de prijs/kwaliteit verhouding. Maar ondanks dat smaakt het super

Wir waren das erste Mal da und es war echt super!!! Der Service und das Essen war echt toll. Wir haben uns für das 3 Gänge Menü entschieden. Es wurde alles frisch zubereitet, der Chef und seine Mitarbeiter waren immer aufmerksam. Ich kann dieses Restaurant nur empfehlen. Wir kommen gerne wieder!!!!!

Heerlijk gegeten met een voortreffelijke wijn erbij. Leuke hapjes vooraf zodat met 2 gangen erbij de meeste van ons , al een volle buik hadden .
