Italy Express in Hoge Zijde

We ordered a pizza at six o'clock... We selected the "as soon as possible" delivery option, after which we received an email saying the delivery time would be 7 p.m. Because the pizzas hadn't arrived half an hour later, we called. They said they were on their way... Another 30 minutes later and no pizza... We called again, and were shushed! Then we called again and were treated incredibly rudely. The final score was that the pizza would arrive at 8:30! In fact, they couldn't even find our address, so we had to walk quite a distance outside to pick it up. What an incredibly incompetent person! I ordered a pizza with mozzarella, but I got one with some strange, incredibly salty, crumbly cheese... in short, a long wait for a huge disappointment! Unbelievably bad, first time ordering and never again! Bad business, bad pizza, truly awful!

I met my sister and nephew for dinner while we were staying at our Airbnb's in Alphen a/d Rijn. Absolutely amazing Italian food, thoroughly authentic and obviously loved by locals as there were many deliveries and pickups while we ate in. The owner is very pleasant and helpful. The dishes were so large that I requested a takeout container and since we needed cutlery he have me a metal fork so that I would be able to eat my leftovers the next day while I was travelling.

We called over half an hour after our order was supposed to arrive to ask where it was. We had only ordered at 8:00 PM. The guy on the phone had to ask someone else everything first before answering. We could hear everything being said on the other end. The guy indicated that the order should be here almost immediately (according to him, in fifteen minutes at most), because it was incredibly busy, according to him. But he was talking to his colleagues about the order being forgotten. They also thought it was ridiculous that we asked when we could expect the order. Forgetting can happen, but just be honest about it. In the end, we had to wait another half hour for the food to arrive. The food wasn't good either; it was bland and tasteless. The pasta with salmon in cream sauce was anything but salmon in cream sauce. For us, this was a one-time thing, never again.

Ordered 2 pastas. Eventually arrived 1.5 hours later than planned. Ordered pasta with salmon in cream sauce, received pasta in a thin red sauce with onions. According to them, this was how it was supposed to be. Never again for us.

The pizza is delicious, everything is in an Italian atmosphere and the service was very nice and friendly, that old can is very nice, and that pasta carbonara was really so delicious that I ordered another one

Waiting 2+ hours for a pizza, and it still hasn't arrived. They aren't answering the phone anymore. I'm okay with it taking a long time, but not answering the phone is just rude.

Normally great pizza. The stated delivery time was 7:00 PM. At 7:30 PM, no pizza; I called: "He could be here any minute, sorry, it's busy." At 8:00 PM, no pizza; I called: "He's coming by car, can be with you any minute." It's now 8:30 PM. I live five minutes away. They just blatantly lie and tell you what you want to hear. I'm pretty much done with this; I'll spend my money elsewhere in the future if I want something delivered.

We had it delivered. The negatives: The mixed grill was really not good. The steaks were cooked "well done" as standard. I left the lamb chop after one bite. The chicken was fine, but overseasoned in some parts. Calsone still had raw ground beef. The food arrived 20 minutes late. We set a delivery time, but it wasn't met. The positives: The delivery person was polite and friendly. The pizza was delicious and had plenty of toppings.

Pizzas finally delivered 40 minutes after their stated delivery time. Delivery by car while by bike it would literally be around the corner. Probably a delivery route to many addresses, with ours last. The pizzas were only lukewarm. At Is Morus our experience is always much better. Unfortunately they were closed due to holidays.

Literally had to wait 2 hours for 1 bowl of lasagna? I was just about to call to ask what was going on and how it is possible that you have to wait 2 hours for such a small order. The delivery person seemed rushed and certainly not neatly dressed. The delivery man made a small apology, but to be honest it made no sense at all, he didn't look at me either. I give the food a two, I expected more taste, especially after waiting 2 hours. The last time for me was at Italy Express.

5 star only for the pizza. Great pizza, lovely people and actually it came pretty fast although they had plenty delivery to do. The restaurant does not seem like it functions to dine in, but the pizza took me to Italy!

We had to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes for the food. called 3 times; The first time they indicated that the delivery person had already been on his way for a while and could be there at any time. I said myself that I'm afraid it won't arrive at all or that the pizzas will be cold. I indicated that they should come up with a solution, but he did not respond to this. In my opinion, you should only offer the product if you can also deliver it normally. From my own experience with the Thuisbezorgd system, I know that you can also turn it off if it is too busy with orders, I also indicated this. To which the employee replied; yes okay, have a nice evening. Customer is king, right... Good service was hard to find. In addition, the pizzas were really not tasty (taste was bad and the edge was extremely tough), not warm enough anymore (which we were afraid of) and the base of the Italian pizza was as thin as an A4 sheet of paper. It's all a shame, because it used to be quite a great tent.

Pizza fungi ordered with extra eggplant and zucchini, both raw on the pizza. Dough tastes like cardboard, pizza has no taste. Ordered pasta penne: as if they cooked the pasta and poured milk over it. How is this a restaurant if the most basic dishes have no taste and are poorly prepared?

The pizza was very boring, I ordered a quatro formaggi and I only saw/tasted 2 types of cheese. You can buy a very tasty pizza for 2 euros more at New York Pizza. This isn't worth the money.

There are all kinds of children messing around in the kitchen, the first pizza was made incorrectly and as soon as I normally ask if there is extra oregano on it, I say yes, only taste or see it nowhere.

Ordered lasagna...fresh does it say...from the liddl? Even that one is tastier. Burnt top, raw on the inside. Called, yes it is fresh, that's why it is hard and stiff (he already knew why I called because before I could tell what was wrong, the gentleman already told me 😅) and according to him the burnt top had a crispy edge... well never again . Get my lasagna for 2.50 at Lidl and it's much tastier too!

ordered beef tenderloin with mushrooms...don't know where the tenderloin came from, but it was as tough as a Michelin tire......also the last time I ordered here.

Miserably concerned. It took more than 45 minutes to deliver six pizzas (we live a 10-minute bike ride away) and we found one of the pizzas pureed (see photo). Taste was otherwise fine; hence 2 stars.

Very varying experiences with Italy Express. Today was a bad one. Order accepted incorrectly (resolved). The tenderloin was tough, well done, one sauce was too salty and the other had hardly any mushrooms in it, watery and tomato in a cream sauce? Tasteless. Wrong side dish. What a disappointment. They can do it here, but the gamble is too expensive for me. Last time here for now... too bad. Only the tiramisu is always worth driving around for, it is divine. The pizzas are good but nothing special.

After almost 2 hours I still haven't received my order even though delivery time was supposed to be 20-40 minutes. Called this place several times and was told that my order is now going out and will be delivered within 15 minutes. Biggest scammers. The owner is not even clean enough to speak to me himself. No service or customer friendliness to be found here and no refunds. Scammers!

We ordered our food more than 2.5 hours before the delivery time, but our order only arrived half an hour later after contacting us ourselves. The pizza was too greasy and the pasta was floating in the oil. Tried for one time because our permanent Italian address is on holiday, this was the last time.

Super tasty pizza and not expensive from the nicest bakers. You can choose pizzas from two pages. There are also pastas, bistecca and fish (also calamari). Also children's portions of pizza and pasta and tiramisu for dessert. And Italian music. We think along, close to the station. We did not come here to pick up, but we did eat on site (4 beautifully set tables) and would love to come back!

As always, very tasty and very friendly service. I have ordered from them several times, both from work and from my home address. I have also experienced that we sometimes have to wait a long time. However, if you don't have much time and you discuss this in advance, my experience is that something can almost always be arranged and if that really doesn't work, they will let you know honestly. And the fact that it sometimes takes a long time has to do with crowds and that is not without reason: they are simply good!!

This order was placed 3 hours before the desired delivery time. Even then, this restaurant manages to be an hour late. I didn't even get a call where someone could explain politely that it might be busy. I finally called and was spoken to very curtly. I was told to just wait a little longer... The quality of the Calzone and Pizza was really dramatic. The dough felt so clumsy and tough. It looked like the pizza had been reheated several times. This was the first order / experience with Italy Express, but also the last. This was disappointing, really disappointed in the quality and service.

We ordered 1 pizza and 1 calzone. The delivery arrived 1 hour later than the scheduled time. When finally the food arrived, we tried it and the calzone was tasteless (it had grounded meat, ham, cheese... But tasted like nothing), and the bread of both the pizza and the calzone was soft and felt like a chewing gum. This is the first and the last time that we order in this restaurant. If you want to eat good italian food, please don't come here...

The perfect pizza!! Ordered more than 15 times, always delivered within half an hour and I live on the completely other side of Alphen. The pizzas are fresh, hot and always delicious upon arrival. You can really taste that the pizzas are baked with a lot of love and in the original way. Have to say, they are better than the pizzas from the well-known stores and cheaper. Don't hesitate, just order from them!!

If you call and then pick it up yourself, you will quickly have excellent, warm, tasty pizzas. Delivery is not recommended. This takes a very long time and the pizzas are often not tasty or warm. The young staff are often very grumpy/unprofessional.

the cheapest possible topping for the meats and fish, fish pizza was just very salty dried out canned food. Soil was soft and waiting time very long. No more Italy Express next time..

The quality over the last year has been absolutely terrible! Ordered two pizzas tonight against my better judgement. The Margharita children's pizza had so much pepper that it even burned my mouth! The time before we received ham on the bambino pizza even though a Margharita had also been ordered. Not to mention the time we waited hours for pizzas because the delivery person had delivered the pizza to a different address. After telephone contact, they promise that this will be written in the complaints book and that we will get the bambino pizza for free next time (not useful if you pay per ideal...) However, I doubt whether there will be another bad time. I'm really really disappointed now. Shame!

It's not even worth the 1 star I give. The pizzas are anything but tasty. I would rather recommend a frozen pizza from the supermarket than this. I'll never come here again.

On February 14, we ordered 2 pizzas from Italy express Alphen aan den Rijn via Thuisbezorgd.nl, after 75 minutes the order was finally delivered, unfortunately the pizzas were cold, one pizza was wrong (with meat, while we are vegetarian) and in addition we had the pizzas have no taste at all. After eating less than a quarter, I threw the pizzas away. We contacted Italy express Alphen aan den Rijn, they indicated that it was very busy on Valentine's Day and that this was the reason, we received 2 free pizzas in return. The same evening we wrote a review about our findings on Thuisbezorgd.nl. Called Italy Express today to order our free pizza, they indicate that we will no longer receive it since we have written a review, when we delete the review we will receive our pizzas. I don't think removal is possible, and this feels like bribery and pressure. It is now completely clear to us why they only have good reviews on Thuisbezorgd.nl. We have therefore chosen to file an official complaint via Thuisbezorgd.nl, and the hope of a tasty free pizza is no longer there.
