Always had a great time there and the food was good, it's a shame it's gone now. Does anyone know if they are bankrupt or moving?

the flamed salmon was great, nice sauce. however, the salmon and tuna maki was disappointing. the fish has parts i can't chew and some makis aren't filled with fish on the bottom. i only finished the vegetable maki's. also don't get their tapioca pearls in their boba/bubble tea. it's the worst tapioca i've ever had (not chewy, flavourless). still 3 stars because of the flamed salmon which i enjoyed. i don't think i'll spend any more money here

Itoshii Utrecht is a nice place, although the restaurant itself is quite small. That's why I decided to order instead of just sitting down. There are two convenient ordering machines at the entrance, which makes ordering quick and easy. Unfortunately, there aren't many plant-based milk options for the bubble tea (only coconut), which I found a bit of a shame. The bubble tea itself, on the other hand, was really great. The sushi was fine, but not particularly special. The service was excellent! Despite being busy due to the snow, my order arrived very quickly, and the staff was super friendly. The location is also a big plus, close to the station and Hoog Catharijne.

My daughter was very happy to enjoy this meal. It’s really so much yummy. She is waiting now when we will be next time in Utrecht to come in Itoshii Osaka😊

Yesterday I had lunch at Itoshii in Utrecht, on that cozy square where you can enjoy watching people and pretend you're on vacation for a moment. The concept is sleek and modern: you order via touchscreens, get a number, and hop! — a moment later a friendly little voice announces that your good fortune has arrived in containers. The food? Delicious! Fresh, flavorful, and portions just right to make you think: “I can just about manage dessert.” The service is so friendly that you almost forget they don't come sit at your table to ask how your day is going. And then the bill… well, that came with a smile too, but from my debit card, which was softly weeping. Almost 80 euros for four people — and that without table-dancing sushi or a geisha parade. But anyway, Itoshii leaves you wanting more: not cheap, but definitely tasty. In short: a wonderful place for anyone who loves good sushi and a little bit of financial self-torture.

Best sushi in Utrecht. Generous portions. But I really hate to pay for plastic box for onigiri. It doesn’t make sense. Onigiri already wrapped in plastic bag. Why do you put it in plastic box extra? It doesn’t make sense for delivery and dine in neither.

Normally, I enjoy the food at Itoshii quite a bit. The first two times I went, it wasn't bad either. So, I went to the restaurant with high hopes to pick up some snacks. I bought some karaage and taiyaki to go. When I was ready to eat it, I noticed it was a bit darker in color than I'm used to. After opening it and tasting it, I realized they used old oil and fried the food too long. Taiyaki isn't supposed to be fried at all, so that was unusual in itself. I hope this is addressed in the future, because it made the food tough and tasted of old oil. This last time I ate it, it was a disappointing experience.

Self-service ordering machine. The rice bowl was quite good, but the eel rice wasn't cut, and the sauce was a bit sweet. It came with individually wrapped ginger, soy sauce, and wasabi. It was served in a plastic bowl. There was a wide selection of drinks. It's a great place for a quick and affordable Asian meal.

The sushi is very fresh and delicious! The price-quality ratio is excellent! It's also prepared very quickly. This place is truly underrated!

More than 20 min for a bowl, service should be faster during lunch rush hours

Usually a fan, but I am really disappointed by their Wakame salad. It barely has any Wakame in it, it’s just topped up with salad and carrots.

What delicious food I ate here! I recommend this restaurant! I'll come back here soon to try some more! I had to wait quite a while for my food, and it was quite hot in front of the window, so I sat at a table in front of the counter.

Ordered here several times and it was always good, but now (01-01-2025) the food was just cold, really cold, as if it came straight from the refrigerator. Bad thing, and that for €60. Ordered food again on March 27, 2025; I thought: "I'll try it again, because it's not the food." Received cold food again; I had to heat everything up myself. Very bad thing! When ordering, I indicated that the food was cold during the last delivery and I had priority delivery via Uber, but I don't think that matters except that you pay almost 2 euros extra. This was the last time we order there.

Sushi tasted excellent. Luckily we had soy sauce ourselves, but 2 small bags is very little.

Very bad service, food is very mediocre. Recently ordered via home delivery, wrong order delivered. If you call for good delivery, you will go to the back of the queue, because it is delivered via home delivery. When asked if they can solve this, you are told that they do not and that I should call home delivery to speed things up... then the phone was hung up. What was concerned was soggy, falling apart and had little to do with sushi.

Staff is always friendly, food is always tasty

Had a quick meal here recently. Beautiful building and excellent menu. It took quite a while before my order was ready even though it was very quiet. The bento box was okay but the fried rice was absolutely terrible: tasteless and floating in oil. The few sushi that came with it were okay, a little more seaweed salad would have been nice. The bao bun with pork belly was very tasty. The taiyaki next to it (fish) was again very soaked in fat and fried for too long. My bottle of soda was also not cold. In short: nice place, but the food is not special. There may be other things on the menu worth checking out that I haven't tried yet.

Poor quality sushi. The sushi fell apart, the only thing holding it together were the thick blobs of mayonnaise. Delivery took 90 minutes longer than agreed..

After a long wait we saw people eating with higher order numbers. When we asked where our food was, we were told it still had to be made. Money back and we will never come back here again. Very annoying, we and our toddler were very hungry.

the sushi tastes great, but as soon as you ask for extra spicy mayo you are looked at as if you are begging. The sushi is pricey and if you take several rolls for €15 each and have difficulty getting half a cup of sauce, that is really a very bad thing.

An amazing place to grab a quick bite and savour some Asian food. The noodles are so far the best I've tried around here. The place is quite cozy as well, so it's nice to sit and chill for a bit. The service was quick and with a big smile which makes everything better. I definitely want to come back.

The food there is beautiful but tastes rather gross. Also they put alot of sugar and mayo everywhere. I tried sushi, poke ball and ramen, all sweet and not tasty and with a bunch of mayo. Bubble tea is nothing to write home about

Surprisingly good! I was surprised to not see it full during the weekday lunch rush, and people are missing out. The poke bowl was delicious, as well as the takoyaki. Service was quick and pleasant. Will go back here again.

Itoshii has been my go-to place to order sushi for years. They always have friendly service and the sushi has good price-quality ratio. The boxes are always sufficient for me and are well full. Moreover, it is very tasty and quite affordable!

We ordered noodle soup, the soup was lukewarm, too salty with a lot of flavor substitutes that made you thirsty. Then I got a stomach ache at home and I had problems with my intestines. Table were filthy. Never eat there again.

Ideal place if you want something quick to eat before a concert or a train journey. There are a few nice seats available. The donburis are highly recommended!

Ordered 6 Takoyaki for €6.80. Great taste, plenty of sauce and bonito flakes. Crispy and soft on the inside. Ready within 10 minutes. Well packaged to take with you on the train.

Best sushi in town, you can taste the freshness, the low reviews scared me in advance however I think they changed something up because it was 5/5 whilst I am not easy to please.

It’s quite a relief to find this just opposite central station Utrecht and on the outer wall of Hoog Catharijne mall. Foods were yummy but not that special, it’s like almost there but lack some punch. It has room for improvement as the presentation and the background flavors are already there. Service was slower during weekends but understandable and bearable, place is small and some chairs were broken (wobbles) cleanliness is also something that can be improved. Overall I would still choose to eat here out of all the restaurants in the mall.

An ok place to have sushi. Nothing special but fairly priced. Convenient when you are nearby station. They offer plenty of choice.

The food was good, but a bit salty. The people were very friendly, even they made some small mistakes I did not mind it. The atmosphere is okay, but it is very small to sit. Also I hit my head on the lights who are hanging very low because it was so small. Still if your in the area, then it might be a good healthy food place to visit.

The young girl behind the cash register is very unfriendly and rude, you are not allowed to take napkins or soy sauce without proof that you have bought something (so show the receipt) she discriminates against dark people

The food was tasty but the seating was not very pleasant.

Unfortunately we were disappointed Tables dirty, instead of chicken noodle soup we got the one with pork belly. (unfortunately my daughter noticed this too late and had already eaten half the soup before she saw it, otherwise we would have reported it and probably received the right one, so it is also our own responsibility) The food itself was okay, but I've had better. Also a matter of taste, someone else may find it delicious.

I live in Enschede and when I go to Utrecht it's always an opportunity to eat at this place. It's delicious and reasonably priced. The service is wonderful, well located and clean.

The food was tasty, but I had to wait a long time

Chosen Menu A, after ordering via the machine it was already unclear whether it will be brought to you or whether you have to pick it up. Anyway, you walked to the cash register and you were given a device that made a sound when your food was ready, so it was fine to pick it up yourself. The food itself, sorry but the rice is very salty, I left it after a few bites. The rest didn't taste great either, I didn't eat everything.

There seems to be a Japanese food boom in Europe, but it's hard to find Japanese food in the Netherlands other than salmon sushi. Although it was arranged in a Western style, the rice was cooked properly and was delicious. The Japanese on the menu is a little incorrect, but it's charming. The BGM should have been a Japanese anime song anyway, but for some reason it was house music.

I must say I’ve been a frequent customer for a few years, both eating there and ordering via UberEats. I’ve always loved their cha siu dan daan ramen and takoyaki, super delicious! However, the last few times I ate there the food was not how they were at all! Especially today, my cha siu ramen tasted so bland I had to ask for salt and pepper, but it didn’t help at all because the noodle also tasted bland. The soup was very ‘thin’ and I threw away 95% of it :( I also ordered takoyaki, not that bad but I have tasted so much better ones there! Decided to left a review, just so they can improve it in the future and I can come back again for my favorite dishes!

Taste of dishes is mediocre to below average. I had cha shiu udon, the broth was ok but overal the dish was way too fatty. I was fishing out solid lard chunks out from the soup. A bowl for 14.50euro, if not mistaken. The rest of ingredients are ok but they don't look fresh. This was not so worthy for me. I had also Taiyakii which I ordered multiple times from here, because this is not found so often in NL. Sadly I am disappointed every time. Their Taiyakii is deep fried, and soaked up *a lot* of oil. Too bad, my Taiyakiis were also over-fried. Karrage was ok. Takoyaki was ok. Okay like you would expect it but nothing special. It was more self service, the only interaction I had in the shop was collecting food when it was done, so I couldn't comment more on service. Ordering is possible at the reception or digital order booth.

If you ask how long it will take, the answer is first 'almost ready' and five minutes later 'a maximum of ten minutes... right...

Itoshii is a cozy restaurant right opposite the station, which is ideal for when you are on the road and want to pick up food quickly. You can go here for tasty donburi, ramen or various Japanese snacks. And all that for a good price!

Update: 27-02-2023, delicious bento box. Friendly service. Delicious, friendly staff, clean. Had a tasty usi donburi, beef rice bowl. nicely presented. Nice tea. Only the receipt and cutlery were presented upside down in relation to the logo on the tray. They also have an interesting selection of Japanese beers and Iki beer yuzu beer. They have Iki yuzu beer. Iki is a fusion brand that mixes beer with Asian flavour and more. Curious about the desserts: Japanse crab with red bean or Macha ice-cream.
