Nice place, just a bit more polished than the average sushi place. Had a sushi taco here with the Local Taste tokens. It was really delicious. The staff is friendly and has a nice chat with you. Quite pricey though, 12 euros for 1 glass of sweet white wine and 1 beer.

Best takeout sushi I have ever eaten. More expensive than usual, but you can definitely taste the difference.

Tried the set 5 course mixed fish & meat menu for 9 of us, decent quality food, we were sat around the grill table hoping for some action & showcasing too but no luck… service was ok, a bit too dry without a smile & some rolling eyes which we found unpleasant… anyway overall not a bad experience, would like to see service improving before trying again…

Picked up sushi. Our ‘first choice’ Maneki, where we always order, was closed for vacation, so we picked up here for the first time. Incredibly expensive; paid 89 euros; for that amount, simply too little sushi for 2 adults and two small children. Sushi quality wasn't amazing either; Never ordering here again; tip: go to Maneki for this money; much, much better!

Service was so bad I had to remind the waitress multiple times to bring my drinks. Even thought service was already bad, I decided to order sushi, and I think even sushi from the supermarket is better than this. Horrible dry rice and they brought it to my table with no chopsticks or soja sauce. They took forever to come back, so I had to ask soja sauce to the neighbouring table and eat with a fork. I don't blame the waitress, you can see she's totally swamped with work, but the restaurant for being short-staffed and still pricey.

It's been a while for us, but we know what we missed :) We had a wonderful meal at the restaurant; it was so delicious again. Great atmosphere, highly recommended in the heart of Utrecht.

Delicious food and friendly service!

We tried the Izakaya set menu for two, as we were new to the cuisine. (45€ p.p) We enjoyed almost every bite. The pepper beef was definitely the star of the place in terms of both tenderness and flavor. Even though we are not sushi experts, you can easily tell that everything is prepared fresh. In addition to what was listed on the menu, they also served some extra treats as a kind gesture. Last but not least, special thanks to the young Dutch waiter (Thijmen, if i’m not wrong) who served us so kindly and sincerely throughout the evening. Overall, we will very likely come back, and next time I’d love to try the teppanyaki, where a dedicated chef grills your meat on a hot plate right in front of you.

Spent over €100 per person at an izakaya. We left hungry, it was so little. The food we got wasn't particularly tasty either. The chef didn't even bother to check on us, and it was cold and bleak. Only one star for the service, which was very friendly.

We had a delicious meal on Christmas Day. All the dishes were perfectly balanced. It's clear that Konnichi Wa is positioning itself as a quality restaurant compared to the many all-you-can-eat restaurants available today. There are some good ones, but this one is a step above.

My friends and I had a reservation for 7:00 PM on Saturday and had to wait until 8:00 PM before we could finally get a seat at the grill. The food was subpar, especially considering the price we paid, and it was served so quickly that we felt we had to leave as quickly as possible. A discount or a free drink was out of the question after this terrible experience!

We had a fantastic dinner! 4 courses with 1/2 lobster! Delicious! Tip: our chef had no interaction with us. Really too bad. The wine glasses are strange. The stem is brownish yellow which changed the color of our wine, which made it less attractive.

We spent more than 200 euros including drinks for two persons in this restaurant on our anniversary day, my bf ( a guy who didn’t like to do a little research) booked this place, we went for the menu with 6 courses, again, we were hoping for something better with such a price, but the result is bit disappointing, we didn’t try the sushi dishes there with cheaper price so can’t really comment on that, but the menu option is really overpriced and very average quality, our last main dish is fried rice with few pcs of beef cubes and vegetable, looks exactly what you get from any Asian restaurant for taking away, and we have waited such a dish for more than 40 minutes. Anyway, if you just want try out sushi you still can try there, but if you want a bit luxurious meal then go somewhere else for the better value.

Best sushi in Utrecht, with not the highest prices ever and very accessible right at the city center. I have been a regular here for 2 years now and I feel like you can trust them with your eyes closed (ordering at the restaurant is a must, ordering home can be unreliable) even with the most raw fish. Delicious!!

Food: Sashimi top quality, delicious and fresh. Edamame was mushy and overcooked, karaage chicken was just dry fried chicken pieces. Gyoza decent but had a weird sweet sour sauce on the side. Seems like a mistake, but if not, its a weird combination.. Kushi beef(beef on stick) was good, tender. Pleasant cocktails! Ambience: pretty interior, comfy seatings Service was absolutely top! Shout out to Lexi who served us for the night, polite, friendly & attentive. even checked if we had any food allergies - which we did. Hesitant to return to a Japanese restaurant that can’t serve the most basic bar snacks..

The place was beautiful and well-kept, but the worst thing happened at the end of the service, when my boyfriend and I saw a rate walking around the room!! That shows poor hygiene! the waiter and a lady who worked there, realizing that we had seen it, pretended nothing had happened… I hope someone do some checks...

Great food and experience, somewhat soured at the end of the night with the realisation that they charge 8€ for a bottle of water (not even the sparkling kind). Didn’t even finish the bottle, would have taken the rest with me if I had known I was leaving behind 4€ worth of water.

The food was fantastic. Dishes were served without any entertainment. The chef didn't speak, so it felt cold and lacked atmosphere. A bottle of water cost €8, which I found a bit pricey. The service was good, though.

We ordered salmon for €25. After two pieces, we found a fly inside the salmon — it was clearly crushed between the two pieces. We sent it back. At first, they didn’t accept it and claimed the fly was came on the table. We insisted that it definitely came from the salmon. When the bill arrived, they had added €8 for the two pieces we ate. Unfortunately, the way the restaurant handled this — denying responsibility and blaming us instead — was very disappointing.

I had a wonderful time at Konnichiwa! The food was delicious – the wagyu beef was truly exquisite and perfectly prepared. The other dishes were also top-quality and gluten-free, with fresh ingredients beautifully presented. The teppanyaki was not only delicious but also very entertaining to watch; a truly memorable experience. The service was also very helpful and welcoming, which made the evening even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an authentic Japanese experience in Utrecht!

The food was delicious, I had the four course menu with meat and fish and my father the four course menu with meat. The food was the best I have ever tasted and we had the teppan yaki so it was beautifully prepared by the chef in front of us. The service was very nice and provided good service. The atmosphere was also beautiful it was completely decorated inside with paintings and wooden panels everywhere a must to go to once in your life

Don't understand the negative reviews. Delicious food in a nice ambiance. Friendly staff. Didn't see any butter? (But oil). Chef is focused, don't expect a show. Nice to see how your dishes are prepared. In short, recommended.

Very nice the teppanyaki with live cooking in front of you. The chef does not do any special antics, but it is cool how it is cooked. The food is very tasty, you can choose from fish, shellfish, meat or vegetarian.

Price quality ratio not in order. For over 150 pp one may expect the experience and taste sensation to be tiptop in order and that was not the case. Normal communication with staff almost impossible. The chef does not even introduce himself, hardly greets guests, almost no interaction with the guests and therefore quite impersonal. The customer is not king here. The owner is not open to criticism. Fine if the chef makes a mistake by pouring too much sauce over the lobster, which completely dominated the taste, but then take the criticism of the guests to heart and do not keep defending your chef. Incidentally, the chef himself admitted that he had "shot too far".

Great spot for sushi and teppenyaki. Very gluten-wise staff; no issues for a celiac on multiple visits. We love the place and have become quick regulars.

This restaurant has clearly lost its luster. Teppanyaki is way too salty and adapted to Dutch food culture (butter in Japan?). You can make 2 courses yourself at home and the overall taste is flat and one-sided. This could be much better….

Waar komt die 2 vandaan? Het is een mooi gastvrij restaurant met fijne mensen. Het eten is top! We vierden de verjaardag van mijn vrouw. Alles ok. Vooraf aangegeven dat mijn oudste zoon dood kan gaan van melkeiwit. Bij reserveren én bij binnenkomst. Men zou er rekening mee houden. Eerste gang aan de teppanyaki apart voor de zoon en toen voor ons: de chef kwakt een flinke klodder boter op de plaat en gaat koken. Zoon verstijft en ik wist: hij gaat hier niets meer eten. En zo was het. Ik heb nogmaals uitgelegd wat er was, kruisbesmetting, maar er veranderde niets. Wanneer begint men met het serieus nemen van een allergie, die ook nog eens heel zwaar is? We zijn gebleven omdat hij dat wilde en het de verjaardag van zijn moeder was. Zonder het lekkere eten was dit een 1 geweest. Zonder het lekkere eten voor ons was het een 1 geweest.

The karaage chicken tasted like frozen chicken tenders with a watered down BBQ sauce. Didn’t taste anything like real karaage. The unagi don bowl was not bad, the unagi was very fatty and quite fishy qua taste, it didn’t taste very grilled or smoky.

Ate at the griddle, had delicious dishes with original flavors, beautiful presentation and super tender meat. Top!

Delicious dishes. Very good wagyu beef. Service and teppanyaki chef could be much better (you can't ask or comment anything and you can't smile). We first had to wait half an hour before we could take a seat at the plate and then more than three hours at the plate for four courses was very long. Ingredients are fresh and the food tastes delicious, but when the service is so mediocre it ruins everything. Shame! Compliments to the young man in the service who came for a spontaneous chat at the end. He is the only one who understands what hospitality is.

We ordered edamame and sushi. The edamame didn't arrive for 30 minutes. We had to ask twice where the sushi was. The sushi always came one at a time and we had to keep asking where the rest of the sushi from our order was.Never again.

"I tried the 'beef de lamchops and wagyu sushi' at Konnichiwa Utrecht, and it was a disaster on wheels. The wagyu tasted like it had traveled around the world by bicycle – and not one of those fancy racing bikes, no, a rusty granny bike without tires. The lamchop vibe was so tough that I almost had to have my jaw muscles massaged, and the sushi? That was rice that clearly had no desire to participate. The whole thing felt like a culinary pilgrimage, but one where halfway through you think: 'Why didn't I just get a shawarma sandwich?'"

This is a fantastic Japanese restaurant! The food was excellent, and the atmosphere was clean, cozy, and inviting. The staff were friendly and efficient, making the experience even better. I highly recommend it!

The sushi was top quality and service was very nice. Prices are also good, cocktails just a bit on the expensive side.

Buen servicio; el pescado era agradable: salmón (bastante seco pero la piel estaba muy bien horneado) bacalao (ok) diablo marino (al mejor de 3 ) . Las salsas servidas no combinaban del todo con el pescado (pero eso puede ser una cuestión de gustos). Cocina de inspiración japonesa, en general: una bonita experiencia.

Omg I'm so grateful for this culinary experience. I'm spoilt and it feels hard to find good food but this one had me satisfied. I got the 5 course menu meat and fish combo and it was so good. Cooked in front of you as some people say and the meat especially was otherworldly. Was drinking hot sake and I loved that it could be kept hot because it was on the same plancha the chef was doing his thing☺️ This was not the sushi menu, it was the other which I don't remember exactly how it is called.. Traditioneel eten wij voor de verjaardag van mijn vrouw “aan de plaat”. Deze keer Konnichiwa uitgezocht en wat een verrassing. Voor de show hoef je hier niet te komen maar voor de heerlijke gerechten, professioneel bereid met een uitgebreide selectie van sake des te meer. De bediening was uiterst vriendelijk en kundig. Wij komen hier zeker terug.

Used to be a great place but it lost its shine. Issues with booking because we used TheFork. The manager argued we should have called! We had to give up on our booked Teppan Yaki seats. The food is mediocre and when giving feedback, same manager argued why she thinks we are wrong. It felt like one long line of arguments with the manager and like she just wanted to win them all. Best excuse for the poor experience was that it’s Xmas - they were not heavily busy and to many, a Xmas experience should feel nice. There are better places to spend €240.

The sushi was tasty, but not very tasty. If there are 2 of you and every other taste, you are obliged to order a roll of 8 pieces. Nice service, nicely decorated. We didn't eat Japanese food, but it looked nice I won't go here again if I want to eat sushi.

Getting a table on a Saturday evening in Utrecht without a reservation is a real challenge. We wandered from restaurant to restaurant with empty stomachs. Somehow we ended up here in Konnichiwa. We couldn't have been luckier. We often go out for sushi in Germany but the quality here is incredible. The service was extremely friendly and took the time to answer our questions and put together the right menu. We liked it and would definitely recommend it again at any time.

Do not waste your money at this place. They claim to offer Omakase but it's not the real traditional Omakase. Our reservation was at 8pm and as I write this review at 10:15 we are still sitting here and only halfway thru the courses. We booked this for a special occasion and I'm truly disappointed. I feel like they don't really care.

Ik eet soms (te duur)Japans in Amsterdam. Maar wat een heerlijke avond hebben we hier gehad met een zalig 4 gangen menu van de bakplaat. Een mix van families, vrienden en stellen uit allerlei windstreken maakt het extra gezellig. Hartelijke en charmante bediening met prima uitleg . Vis en vlees smelten uiteraard op de tong en de lobster is al een gang op zich. We komen terug!

The tastiest sushi in Utrecht! The teppanyaki concept was new to us and certainly worth repeating. It is striking that there is a very nice friendly atmosphere and the staff works very well together.

Very tasty food! Definitely recommended if you like delicious sushi! The aburi nigiri 'gyu' (beef) in particular was a real favorite! The classic konnchiwa roll 'Crispy Wagyu' was also very tasty. We ordered both extra because we couldn't get enough of them. We will definitely come back!

Cozy atmosphere, plenty of choice and the food is incredibly tasty. When you sit there you think, tomorrow again!

Saturday evening 9/29 was busy, understandable that it takes a little longer! But I think having to wait more than 45/60 minutes for 2x8 and 1x 6 pieces of sushi is extremely long... even with a takeaway this is much faster! The sushi itself was fine, but not a lot of love was put into it (avocado that was even unripe) I don't recommend this business, too bad!

Wat een geweldige plek om authentiek Japans te eten. casual sashimi en sushi maar wel excellent bereid en kraakvers. Uitermate vriendelijke en deskundig bediening. Absolute aanwinst voor de stad Utrecht. Prijzen zijn meer dan redelijk en de chef-kok verzoeken om iets buiten de kaart om te maken maakt je echt blij. Je krijgt dan super mooie gerechten wat thuis zou horen in de Nobu's van deze wereld. Top !

We hadden hoge verwachtingen van ons diner bij dit restaurant. Het eten was lekker en de bediening prima, maar de prijs-kwaliteitverhouding viel enorm tegen. Het was veel te duur voor wat je kreeg. Toen we de kok vroegen waar hij Japans koken had geleerd, kon hij hier geen antwoord op geven. Hij zei dat hij het was vergeten, wat nogal vreemd en ongeïnteresseerd overkwam. Kortom, ondanks het smakelijke eten en de redelijke bediening, zou ik dit restaurant niet aanraden. Jammer, want we hadden er veel meer van verwacht.

Fantastic! Very extensive choice of fish and seafood. The sake is also very tasty. Carefully prepared with fresh ingredients. Had good conversations with the staff. Moreover, it is always a good sign when the chef lets everyone watch while he prepares the food! 🧑🏻‍🍳

Food is of high quality! The swear against that is not pleasant, the chef who was cooking for us could be a bit friendlier and use a bit more entertainment. What also felt very bad was that he was very annoyed by the service and the older man (presumably the owner). his fingers were watched. Then the conclusion was it worth the money? Considering the three courses for 50 euros, no They really are little ant bits. For the experience yes, but I think there are plenty of these types of concepts... Hopefully they do something with the riview!!

Dit gewoon een heel goed restaurant. Komen graag nog een keer terug. Vriendelijke personeel. Wel deels Engels talig wat jammer is...wel begrijpelijk in Utrecht.

The food was delicious! Beautiful ambiance! And it was very nice that they took our different preferences into account. (one person no fish, one vegetarian and me low carb)

I haven't eaten there "yet", but I did drink, good and fast service even though 1 server was alone. This restaurant is definitely recommended.

Not impressed at all. Extremely over priced for the portions they serve. Yes the food was alright but it was in my honest opinion nothing out of this world. We had the 3 courses mixed (fish/meat) First they brought 4 little thin slices of seabass, it was good. Second i had the lobster, it was okay, about 4-5 small bites with spicy mayo on top, which i think it cheapens the entree but ok. Third they got our order wrong and brought us the wagyu entree instead of the steak, this wagyu was supposed to be 27€ on top of the base price for the 3 “entrees”…. Well thank god it was a mistake and we didn’t order that because it was again extremely small 4 thinly sliced pieces filled with lots of scallions topped with mushrooms which completely overpowered whatever taste those little slices of meat had. I felt robbed and we didnt even paid extra for it. Oh then to top everything they didnt bring the fried rice or little sad side of fried pak choi until like 15-20 mins later when we had obviously finished all the entries. Fried rice and vegetables tasted only like soy soy sauce. Restaurant was not full at all, no excuse to bring the rice at the very end or get our orders wrong. So we paid about 130€ to leave hungry and dissatisfied. Premium prices and MEDIOCRE FOOD AND SERVICE.

Ridiculously overpriced for what you get. Service screwed up the most simple order—we actually got supposedly “better” food than what we ordered, so ok why not. However, not only did we get the wrong food but also the rice and supplementary dishes came a long time after the main dishes were served. Didn’t need the rice anymore when it finally arrived… and the cheap tasteless vegetables could have been saved on me too. Food has no finesse and is served in a pseudo-fancy way. The worst part was the wagyu steak that was not even closely worth the money. There are better places to spend that kind of money.

Went here on a whim. The restaurant is, as the Dutch say, gezellig ! Service was swift and friendly. The salmon was great. shiny and bouncy. Unfortunately, My partner finished the dish before I could even take a photo haha. Dessert was delicious though. We ordered the Japanese cheese cake and they did not disappoint. Next time we will try out the Teppanyaki as suggested.

Pretty disappointed with the whole turn of events. Upon entering you first have to go through a hall where the delivery people with orange jackets are having a nice time. Then, after waiting almost 1.5 hours, we asked where the first course was. That was rewarded. When we thought it might be better to eat elsewhere, 4 pieces of sushi were served (which were delicious). Service is nice but quite chaotic. When the English-speaking waitress messed on my friend's shirt, a soft "sorry" came out of her mouth and then she walked away. (after complaining again, this was corrected by the manager/owner). The food was delicious, compliments to that hardworking chef. Unfortunately, the dessert was really bad. A scoop of ice cream and a mini lava cake. And that for around 90 pp (without drinks) Too bad, that was a lot better years ago.

Verbrande niet Japanse rijst , minuscule porties notabene niet verse vis peperduur. Onwijs veel rijst . Kom er nooit meer zonde van het geld eet vaak japans dit nooit meer . Wc riimte veel troep en ruimte .Geen getrainde Japanse koks . Personeel interesseert het niet luistert ook niet. DE ZAAK IS OOK LEEG.

Fantastic sushi, highly recommend the crispy wagyu

It was great a few years ago and now it's just okay. In my opinion, quality and atmosphere have deteriorated.

The quality of the unagi cannot be compared. Top quality and very good lunch. Couldn't wish for anything else better. In one word: delicious.

Went here to celebrate new year's Eve with my boyfriend. The food was great ! I loved the garlic shrimp. My boyfriend enjoyed their ichicho sour cocktail. The server, Lexi, was attentive and friendly. Food came with good tempo, even with lots of tables occupied. We did not have our whole order all coming at once and then we'd have to struggle to eat them before they went cold. All in all, 10/10 would definitely return

Avondje uiteten in Konichiwa. Prijzen zijn high class, we hadden hoge verwachtingen (vaker japans gegeten geserveerd door echte japans chefkok of in japan getrained). Echter is hier niet het geval. Het eten op zich is wel lekker, maar dan een kwaliteit van een all u can eat. Het is een sushi, maar niet een sushi zoals die je kent van een echte japanse restaurant. Sushi rijst hard geknepen, dus rijst laat zich niet los zodra in je mond zit. Te veel fushion soorten dus niet originele sushi, sushi rijst meer aan de zoute kant dan rijstazijn met suiker. Al met al wel lekker gegeten, maar op een niveau van All-can-eat, maar voor een prijskaartje van een high class japans.

Had a nice meal with a group at Konnichiwa! We got there early and spent the entire evening watching our food being baked in front of us. It was very nice that a separate vegetarian menu was prepared for me.

Was leuk, de porties waren alleen een beetje klein, ik ging wel weg met lichte honger

Been here with my girlfriend for our date, the restaurant was bright and cozy. We did not have to wait long for our orders and the waiter was very attentive to our needs. We ordered a Konnichiwa Setto and a cheesy eel. Everything was very delicious and fresh ! My girlfriend loved the rocko shiso wagyu, i was blown away by the the smoky cheesy eel instead : ). this restaurant was a bit more expensive than the usual sushi chains and restaurants that I'm used to. Regardless, I'm paying for good atmosphere, service and fresh interesting food so It's worth it in the end. Will return for more

Prijs kwaliteit was uit verhouding, de bediening qua timing niet goed afgestemd, we hebben lang zitten wachten en moesten zelf om uitleg van het concept vragen. Ook bij het afhalen van de jassen moesten we lang wachten en liet de bediende nota bene de jassen nog vallen zonder zich te excuseren. Om met een positieve nooit af te sluiten: Eten was verder wel erg lekker
