We visited here for the first time last Saturday. It was cozy inside, which caused us some frustration regarding the people at the table next to us and the conversations they were having that we unintentionally overheard completely; moreover, there was one voice among them that was really very annoying. Once the food arrived, our focus changed completely. It was, in fact, the tastiest sushi we have both had at an all-you-can-eat to date! We are already looking forward to the next time 😅 The pace at which the food is served after ordering on the tablet is also incredibly fast 👍 The staff were friendly as well. Another point for improvement was the toilet; one of the two ladies' toilets was no longer clean.

What a wonderful experience at this place on the Veilinghavenkade. The food was truly fantastic and everything looked beautiful on the plates. The mussels, in particular, stood out due to their refined preparation with a delicious topping of crispy onions and fresh spring onions. The variety of sushi and the dim sum in the bamboo baskets also tasted delicious. I will definitely be back here soon.

IXI has two different menus. You pay extra for the extensive menu, which means, for example, sashimi is included. Unagi is listed on the menu as nigiri and inside-out rolls. Unfortunately, they don't bother to heat it briefly with a blowtorch. It would be a small effort, but it would make for a completely different taste sensation. A pity… The unagi is now incorporated into the sushi cold. Tuna and salmon sashimi of excellent quality. The staff is friendly. Parking is extremely expensive except on Sundays, when parking is free.

We reserved a dinner for two here with very high expectations, but unfortunately, we were quite disappointed. This started a bit right upon entering, where our shoes practically stuck to the floor. We arrived 10 minutes later than our reserved time (6:00 PM) because we had taken a wrong turn. Once seated at our table and after explaining the rules and ordering our first drink, the waiter returned to inform us that the table was reserved until 8:30 PM (in other words, the time we arrived after making the reservation was deducted from our time). For a deluxe reservation of nearly 50 euros per person, I find this quite remarkable. It's not like the place was full or anything, so it's more a matter of principle for the owner. We haven't experienced this before in an all-you-can-eat/taste concept. Anyway, the food itself was pretty okay, but not exclusive or special compared to a "standard" all-you-can-eat sushi place. The deluxe menu is a real joke; a T-bone steak was cooked so overcooked that it became tough. Additionally, two dishes from the deluxe menu could not be ordered via the tablet, which was not mentioned beforehand. Finally, it turns out you have to pay extra for desserts, even for something as "simple" as a scoop of ice cream. Once again, a unique occurrence for us, which we did not do on principle. That was pretty much the last straw for us, leading us to conclude that we won't be leaving a tip. The place exudes zero customer friendliness and really seems to operate on the principle of a fast-food joint. However, if you look at the website (and the prices), you absolutely expect more from this place. There is so much better to be found in Utrecht: In my humble opinion, you are better off skipping this place.

For us, this was an unprecedented concept. But what a selection of dishes! One point deducted because the photo sometimes depicted something different. But otherwise, everything was very tasty. We would give extra stars for the service. It was wonderful to see the waitress, who is still so young, serving with such enthusiasm. Keep it up. We were lucky enough to be able to sit outside, which was a real bonus for us on a summer evening. Would we recommend this place? Absolutely.

Food is good. Unfortunately service is not. Host that took us to our table, Wicha, was super rude. He did not even properly look at us just walked in front of us. No greeting, nothing. They weren’t busy that day. He is the manager and treats his employees with no respect and is super rude. Food is good but manager needs training!!

After reading the reviews, we had high expectations, which is why we went to eat here. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment for us. The restaurant is quite pricey, and because of that, you expect the quality to be really good. Unfortunately, we found the food inconsistent: some dishes were okay, but we found others really too salty, especially the sauces. The sauces they used on meat, etc., also looked very similar. We opted for the extensive menu. I received the seared shrimp with it, but to my dismay, the shrimp turned out to be raw instead of seared. I only noticed it after the second piece: the texture already felt strange with the first one, and only when I looked closely did I see that it wasn't cooked through. Because of the mayo and the masago on top, it wasn't immediately noticeable either. I found that very annoying. Additionally, with an extensive menu, we had actually expected a small dessert to be included (even if it was just something small, like a scoop of ice cream), but that turned out not to be the case. I must say that the staff were friendly, but personally, I didn't feel entirely comfortable expressing my experience or complaint at that moment. As a result, we ultimately left feeling disappointed. It's a shame, because after all the positive reviews, we had actually expected a lot from it.

Lovely and cozy restaurant. Sushi comes in all varieties. Not too much rice relative to the fish. But just perfect; the food is served quickly, and there is only an 8-minute wait per round. For the deluxe menu, there are no small slices of sashimi, but really thick slices of fish. The quality of the food, the restaurant, and the atmosphere are truly top-notch!

We have now been to this sushi restaurant for the second time and it was super delicious again! You can really taste that everything is fresh, and the food is prepared and served quickly. Ordering is very easy via an iPad, which makes it extra convenient. Drinks are not included, but they are not expensive either. For me, this is without a doubt the best all-you-can-eat in Utrecht!

The best sushi restaurant in Utrecht and the surrounding area. My girlfriend and I are true sushi lovers and have tried (almost) everything in the region. IXI remains our number one. A tip: choose the specials menu. For a small extra charge, you can enjoy even more delicious sushi.

The food quality is truly top-notch, everything is fresh and well-prepared! The atmosphere is simply beautiful. I definitely recommend eating here if you're ever in Utrecht. It's a 10-minute walk from the Beatrix Theater, so perfect! The service is all very good. Most of the staff also explain what they're serving, which I really appreciate. (A small side note: the restroom hygiene could be better.)

The salmon is incredibly fresh and delicious, especially the salmon sashimi 🤤 The staff could be a bit friendlier, but they were still perfectly fine. The interior is nice, though not very aesthetic and doesn’t quite reflect the quality of the food or the cuisine. The lighting is also quite dim, which makes it hard to take good photos. The toilets weren’t the cleanest, which made me question the overall cleanliness of the place. That said, the most important thing is that the food was sooo good.👍

We ate here with the all-you-can-taste menu and were generally pleasantly surprised. The sushi was of reasonable quality, especially for an all-you-can-eat restaurant. The dishes looked well-presented and tasted fresh. 🍣 ➖We found the sole to be a minor drawback: it had a very rich sauce, which somewhat overpowered the flavor of the fish. All in all, a pleasant experience and a good choice if you want a substantial sushi meal for a fixed price.

What really made the night special though was the service. Fin and Kick were absolutely amazing super friendly, attentive, and made us feel genuinely welcome. They brought great energy and made my birthday dinner feel extra special. The atmosphere was lively but comfortable, perfect for celebrating. We regularly eat at IXI, but yesterday I thought the sushi was extremely poorly made. Coarse, hard rice grains, poorly/slopply rolled, and much smaller 😳 (see photos). The chicken pieces were still raw, so we returned them. We did receive a new portion, though. The hot dishes were good, except for the chicken. Tip: make the sushi the way it should be. Good, sticky sushi rice and tightly rolled.

Yesterday, my team and I dined at Restaurant IXI. We had a time slot from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The food was really good: lots of different kinds of sushi, everything was served quickly, and we had a nice, long table where the eight of us could comfortably sit. What we found particularly frustrating, however, was the end of our visit. Three minutes before 7:30 PM, we suddenly received the bill and were told we had to pay immediately and leave within three minutes because the next group was already waiting. Our tablets had already been turned off, meaning we couldn't order anything while we were still enjoying our drinks. This felt very rushed and unfriendly, especially after an otherwise positive experience. It's a shame that a pleasant evening ended so abruptly. Hopefully, this will be handled better in the future, because the food and service before that were otherwise excellent.

I had dinner with my girlfriend today. We were initially assigned a table that wasn't quite to my liking. I pointed this out and was offered a different, quieter spot. Fantastic! The food tasted delicious and was hot and on the table within minutes! 💪🏼 Worth more than 5 stars, if you ask me!

The extensive menu was great, but the sushi rice was a real disappointment. We visit dozens of sushi restaurants a year as a hobby, but we found this one to be very subpar. The sushi rice was very sticky, watery, and harder than usual. You really had to chew it. After trying a few sushi dishes, we switched to dishes with as little rice as possible. Luckily, the menu was extensive enough that we didn't eat too much rice and still went home with a full stomach. Such a shame for such a great sushi place! Serious question: do you use a different type of rice than other sushi restaurants? Tip: don't!

Very tasty food, a bit on the expensive side

I had high expectations after reading the reviews and the extensive menu. However, the most important dish was a big disappointment: the sushi. The restaurant is within walking distance of the station. Service was fast and friendly. They offer a variety of side dishes, including dishes you wouldn't find in a regular AYCE restaurant, such as takoyaki (which was disappointing), grilled squid (very tasty and crispy), and many other dishes. For an additional €7, you can also order unlimited items from the special menu, such as sashimi, T-bone steak, and various types of sushi. However, this wasn't worth it for me, as those dishes were far below par. The sushi here was a major disappointment! The sushi rice was very watery and cold, and I don't think it was made fresh daily. Sushi chefs were literally preparing sushi in large quantities and also using pre-made sushi from trays. A major disappointment, considering they had a variety of sushi options. The price-quality ratio is therefore not in line. The AYCE special menu, in particular, is not worth it!

I've been to a fantastic restaurant a few times. Today, however, I had a very unusual experience. I paid 14.50 in the parking meter and always leave within two hours. I walked into a completely empty restaurant at 12:15. The waiter asked if I had a reservation, which I didn't. He told me there wasn't room for the other two of us. So we just left. What a waste of parking.

The sushi was mediocre. It was all so consistent, and not everything seemed fresh. But what really bothered me was how dirty everything was. There was stuff everywhere on the floor and tables. Lots of dust, and everything was sticky. The menus too. Dirty glasses. And a very filthy restroom. Poor hygiene, in other words. Which really dampened my enjoyment of the food.

I don't often leave reviews, but this restaurant definitely deserves one. The food is incredibly delicious, served in no time, and the table is cleared at precisely the right time. This means you don't feel like you're being chased away, but you also don't have to look at a table covered in dirty dishes. The staff is also truly fantastic: friendly and polite. 100% recommended, and I hope you keep up the good work!!

Friendly staff and fast service. However, I didn't find the sushi very fresh. It tasted like it had been made well in advance, like the avocado maki. The shrimp in the fried shrimp sushi also tasted a bit old and stale. I'd prefer the portion size to be a bit smaller. We received three pieces of ebi tempura with one order, and it came with a sauce that didn't go well with it. But that's probably just personal preference. All in all, the food was fine, but I've eaten at better sushi restaurants.

Very nice sushi restaurant. We have gone for the “special menu” and did not regret it. From all the food we tried, only two things were not of our liking, but it’s only a matter of taste! They also found for us an accommodation for our unannounced baby stroller. I recommend it!

The communication and service were excellent. The food, however, varied quite a bit in quality. Some sushi was surprisingly good, but unfortunately, not everything was fresh; the sushi was cold, which is usually not the case at the better all-you-can-eat restaurants. The cocktails were also a gamble: the Pornstar Martini was delicious, but the Mojito was a big disappointment. All in all, a great all-you-can-eat experience, as long as you keep your expectations a bit lower. Then you can definitely enjoy yourself here.

One of the better AYCT sushi restaurants in Utrecht, but they use too much sauce on most of the dishes. This often makes things too sweet and makes it difficult to taste the actual fish. This is especially a shame because the fish seems of good quality and prepared well. I don't think they're trying to hide anything with the sauce. I'm afraid they're just trying to adjust to the western pallette...

First time eating there. We chose the specials menu (with all-you-can-eat sashimi, etc.). The salmon sashimi was very fresh and delicious. The sushi was also good. Some of the rolls with flambéed salmon and mayonnaise were quite heavy, though. Our favorites were the salmon sashimi, the grilled eel cheese, and the beef tataki. The hot dishes themselves weren't particularly special. The sweet and sour pork was even fried very dry, which was a bit disappointing. The Ebi Yaki, however, was very good. Overall, we would go back, but mainly for the sushi.
