We regularly eat at IXI, but yesterday I thought the sushi was extremely poorly made. Coarse, hard rice grains, poorly/slopply rolled, and much smaller 😳 (see photos). The chicken pieces were still raw, so we returned them. We did receive a new portion, though. The hot dishes were good, except for the chicken. Tip: make the sushi the way it should be. Good, sticky sushi rice and tightly rolled.

Yesterday, my team and I dined at Restaurant IXI. We had a time slot from 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM. The food was really good: lots of different kinds of sushi, everything was served quickly, and we had a nice, long table where the eight of us could comfortably sit. What we found particularly frustrating, however, was the end of our visit. Three minutes before 7:30 PM, we suddenly received the bill and were told we had to pay immediately and leave within three minutes because the next group was already waiting. Our tablets had already been turned off, meaning we couldn't order anything while we were still enjoying our drinks. This felt very rushed and unfriendly, especially after an otherwise positive experience. It's a shame that a pleasant evening ended so abruptly. Hopefully, this will be handled better in the future, because the food and service before that were otherwise excellent.

I had dinner with my girlfriend today. We were initially assigned a table that wasn't quite to my liking. I pointed this out and was offered a different, quieter spot. Fantastic! The food tasted delicious and was hot and on the table within minutes! 💪🏼 Worth more than 5 stars, if you ask me!

The extensive menu was great, but the sushi rice was a real disappointment. We visit dozens of sushi restaurants a year as a hobby, but we found this one to be very subpar. The sushi rice was very sticky, watery, and harder than usual. You really had to chew it. After trying a few sushi dishes, we switched to dishes with as little rice as possible. Luckily, the menu was extensive enough that we didn't eat too much rice and still went home with a full stomach. Such a shame for such a great sushi place! Serious question: do you use a different type of rice than other sushi restaurants? Tip: don't!

Very tasty food, a bit on the expensive side

I had high expectations after reading the reviews and the extensive menu. However, the most important dish was a big disappointment: the sushi. The restaurant is within walking distance of the station. Service was fast and friendly. They offer a variety of side dishes, including dishes you wouldn't find in a regular AYCE restaurant, such as takoyaki (which was disappointing), grilled squid (very tasty and crispy), and many other dishes. For an additional €7, you can also order unlimited items from the special menu, such as sashimi, T-bone steak, and various types of sushi. However, this wasn't worth it for me, as those dishes were far below par. The sushi here was a major disappointment! The sushi rice was very watery and cold, and I don't think it was made fresh daily. Sushi chefs were literally preparing sushi in large quantities and also using pre-made sushi from trays. A major disappointment, considering they had a variety of sushi options. The price-quality ratio is therefore not in line. The AYCE special menu, in particular, is not worth it!

The sushi was mediocre. It was all so consistent, and not everything seemed fresh. But what really bothered me was how dirty everything was. There was stuff everywhere on the floor and tables. Lots of dust, and everything was sticky. The menus too. Dirty glasses. And a very filthy restroom. Poor hygiene, in other words. Which really dampened my enjoyment of the food.

I don't often leave reviews, but this restaurant definitely deserves one. The food is incredibly delicious, served in no time, and the table is cleared at precisely the right time. This means you don't feel like you're being chased away, but you also don't have to look at a table covered in dirty dishes. The staff is also truly fantastic: friendly and polite. 100% recommended, and I hope you keep up the good work!!

I've been to a fantastic restaurant a few times. Today, however, I had a very unusual experience. I paid 14.50 in the parking meter and always leave within two hours. I walked into a completely empty restaurant at 12:15. The waiter asked if I had a reservation, which I didn't. He told me there wasn't room for the other two of us. So we just left. What a waste of parking.

Truly amazing sushi, with so much choice, but truly fantastic food. It was a shame we were stuck with a time slot, as we were happily chatting over our food and were kindly asked to leave because our table had been reserved again. That turned a pleasant evening into a disappointing one.

Nice place with a great atmosphere. The sushi was very good. The sashimi was even excellent! But the rest... There was soy on almost every dish. Because of this, you need to drink a lot. At home, I drank a liter of water. By the way, this costs 10 euros at the restaurant. (Liter). The sole was so crushed that it was no longer edible.

Friendly staff and fast service. However, I didn't find the sushi very fresh. It tasted like it had been made well in advance, like the avocado maki. The shrimp in the fried shrimp sushi also tasted a bit old and stale. I'd prefer the portion size to be a bit smaller. We received three pieces of ebi tempura with one order, and it came with a sauce that didn't go well with it. But that's probably just personal preference. All in all, the food was fine, but I've eaten at better sushi restaurants.

Very nice sushi restaurant. We have gone for the “special menu” and did not regret it. From all the food we tried, only two things were not of our liking, but it’s only a matter of taste! They also found for us an accommodation for our unannounced baby stroller. I recommend it!

The communication and service were excellent. The food, however, varied quite a bit in quality. Some sushi was surprisingly good, but unfortunately, not everything was fresh; the sushi was cold, which is usually not the case at the better all-you-can-eat restaurants. The cocktails were also a gamble: the Pornstar Martini was delicious, but the Mojito was a big disappointment. All in all, a great all-you-can-eat experience, as long as you keep your expectations a bit lower. Then you can definitely enjoy yourself here.

My evening at Ixi Restaurant was truly unforgettable. From the moment I stepped inside, I was enveloped in a warm and refined atmosphere. One of the better AYCT sushi restaurants in Utrecht, but they use too much sauce on most of the dishes. This often makes things too sweet and makes it difficult to taste the actual fish. This is especially a shame because the fish seems of good quality and prepared well. I don't think they're trying to hide anything with the sauce. I'm afraid they're just trying to adjust to the western pallette...

First time eating there. We chose the specials menu (with all-you-can-eat sashimi, etc.). The salmon sashimi was very fresh and delicious. The sushi was also good. Some of the rolls with flambéed salmon and mayonnaise were quite heavy, though. Our favorites were the salmon sashimi, the grilled eel cheese, and the beef tataki. The hot dishes themselves weren't particularly special. The sweet and sour pork was even fried very dry, which was a bit disappointing. The Ebi Yaki, however, was very good. Overall, we would go back, but mainly for the sushi.

I regularly take friends and family to this restaurant, and they're always impressed by the flavor and freshness. The only downside is that there are no halal options. But otherwise, I definitely recommend it for lovers of authentic, high-quality sushi!

Good food, friendly staff, fast service and therefore a nice experience

A very nice restaurant where we chose the Ixi All You Can Eat Special. We found the portions to be generous, giving you the opportunity to try many different dishes and perhaps even order a second time. The entire ordering process, including meals and drinks, is done digitally via a tablet. The drinks arrived super quickly, and the food didn't take long to arrive either. In total, we spent just under two hours there and tried a total of 24 small portions. All of them were beautifully presented and delicious. We would definitely visit this restaurant again; there's something for everyone.

Delicious and varied tapas. Order three (small) dishes at a time. They just don't tell you what they're serving. It's a pain if you don't know what you've ordered. Would be handy for a slightly culinary-challenged guest like me. 😉

Best sushi place in Utrecht! We go with my boyfriend regularly and we love it!

Of course, there's the biggest pitfall of every all-inclusive restaurant: not knowing what was ordered. Occasionally, the photos don't match the actual order, so no one knows what it was. However, if you enjoy sharing, this shouldn't be a problem.

We had a disappointing impression of this restaurant before we actually ate there. We had a reservation for two people at 4:30 PM. When, due to unforeseen circumstances, we arrived 25 minutes late to the completely empty restaurant, we were immediately told that the time we were late would be deducted from the total time of 2.5 minutes and that we had to vacate the table by 7:00 PM. We had expected a more flexible approach on a quiet Wednesday evening. I understand that the table might have been booked again after us, but I can't imagine there was no other solution than to insist on the 7:00 PM closing time. We therefore decided to spend our money elsewhere, which we also managed to do very well near Ixi. We will not be using Ixi restaurant again. The restaurant was pleasantly decorated, and the menu stood out positively because of the beautiful glossy print that clearly had a lot of effort put into it. So, we still scored some points for the atmosphere. Unfortunately, we don't know anything about the food.

Food is delicious, service is very sweet. The co-owner really did everything perfectly. We indicated that we wanted to sit on the terrace, but unfortunately we could not make a reservation for that. Then we started inside at a table and after half an hour this man came to our table: 'moving service!' to put us on the terrace when there was room. Also changing chairs because of a sore back was no problem. Nice this!

The four of us had dinner at IXI and we were really surprised about the restaurant. The food is very tasty and fresh. The quality is super good and it is made to order. We were really surprised about how fast the food was there and about the quality. Definitely the best AYCE restaurant I have been to so far!

Had a list of restaurants, so I'm glad we decided on this one. Cannot fault anything, everything was amazing. Food, drinks, and atmosphere. Would definitely appreciate a branch in London, it would be full every day.

The restaurant is cozy and well spaced. Many sofas, which I personally enjoy. The staff is super efficient. They bring the food and clean the tables very fast. The concept for all you can taste is amazing for someone out to try multiple dishes at the same time. You order 3 things (sort of like tapas) every 8 minutes. You can hang around for about 2 hours, but you'll be full way before then. I managed to go through 15 dishes (5 rounds) and I was bursting at the seams. And mind you, I went for the "light" stuff like sashimi and Carpaccio. Every single dish was delicious and well presented. A marvel for both your eyes and your taste buds. Considering you can mix and match more than 150 dishes every time you visit, ranging from sushi to steaks, I would come and eat here every single day if I lived in Utrecht.

Based on the number of stars, we unfortunately expected more. It is a run-of-the-mill AYCE sushi restaurant, of which IXI is certainly not one of the better ones. The quality of the fish was mediocre, some hot dishes were cold and the flavors were bland. There are very limited vegetarian options. The atmosphere was okay; not too noisy and enough space between the tables. The service was fast, but otherwise you hardly have any contact with the staff.

Excellent dishes served in small portions, we really enjoyed the food there. However, the service and sfeer were far from perfect. The interior is very dark, mostly in black, nothing asian or japanese in there, tables are super small and uncomfortable, the waiters (apart from several nice ones) were passive agressive, unpolite and constantly giving angry looks. It just felt super uncomfortable to eat there. For these reasons I will never visit this restaurant again.

The reviews are wrong. Rice was way too wet (sticky rice) and too much. Beef rolls with bean sprouts are wrong. For what's on the menu, it's not worth the price. Not worth repeating.

Had a delicious meal here on Saturday evening. Orders via tablet. 3 p.p. per round, unlimited (2.5 hours). We took the standard menu, which offered plenty of choice. Smooth service, friendly employees. We were somewhat pushed away in a corner, but otherwise fine.

Honestly, I really don't understand the good reviews of this restaurant. The food is no better than the average all you can eat. Unfortunately for us it was worse and that was really due to the excessive use of MSG (flavor enhancer). I understand that this is a revenue model so that people drink more, but this is seriously unhealthy and anything but tasty! If you are looking for an all you can eat restaurant and want to go home without a stomachache or headache, avoid this one. Staff is nice, but that's really the only thing.
