Heaven! I've never sat at a table for more than four hours, and the time just flew by. Well, that was partly due to the company, but still. The one-dish-at-a-time concept allows for plenty of time to enjoy your meal, but don't forget the presentation. That level of service, for that price? Heavenly. And the service, a big plus. We had a great evening together. We had a wonderful evening, and so did they!

The food was good, but not exceptional. The service was friendly. It's a shame that serving sometimes took too long. On busy days, there's a 3-hour time limit, with the last order placed 30 minutes before the end. We recommend coming on less busy days, when there's no time limit.

This is a calm and cozy restaurant with both an upstairs and downstairs area. They also have an outdoor terrace, which is used for à la carte dining. We went for the all-you-can-eat option, which offers a fun fine dining experience. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. The staff were also very friendly. The concept is that each person can order one dish at a time, which makes it feel more relaxed and refined. However, sometimes it took quite a while before the next dish arrived — it was a bit busy, so I understand the delay. We ended up staying for quite a long time and still didn’t get to try everything. I definitely recommend this place, but I’d suggest going during a quieter time to enjoy the full experience.

Was a really refreshing concept but we didnt expect to be there for that long. You can basically sit there for however long you want but we didnt expect to wait 20+ min between each dish, and you can only order 1 per round. So my advice: plan your trip according to that! Besides that the food was good would love to come here again and try more off the menu

If you're in Utrecht, come to this restaurant. The food is super fresh. There are ton of options to choose from. Everything I had was amazing. The quality is top notch. The service was excellent too. Each waiter and waitress were friendly and took a bit of time to chat with you about the food and other things in the city. I found the value and the quality of food to be excellent. Delicious meal at Ponzu! Together with colleagues I recently had dinner at restaurant Ponzu and it was a really successful evening. The food was fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. We ate different dishes and each one was of high quality. The service was also great: friendly, attentive and well-attuned to each other. We felt really welcome and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere. Definitely recommended if you are looking for a cozy place with good food and nice service!

One time one meal should not be tooo strict to avoid customer to visit next time

Went there for dinner for the first time today. I've seen a lot of sushi restaurants, but if you're a gourmet this is one of the better ones. Where the sushi rice is often too sticky/dry/cold, here it's almost perfect. With the other dishes you could see that the chefs had thought about the flavors. The flavors fit well together with each dish. Some people complain that you can only have 1 dish per round, but the fact that you can eat unlimitedly negates that complaint. Better 1 dish per round, that is well proportioned and of high quality than 3 or 4 dishes that are hastily made. The waitresses, who served with a smile and came to have a chat if you wanted. I made my allergens clear from the start and the waitress was very attentive to this, class! I felt welcome here from the start! The costs are a bit higher than a standard sushi restaurant, but in my opinion this is not a standard sushi restaurant so it is worth it.

I recently visited Ponzu to celebrate a birthday, and overall, it was a great experience with a few areas for improvement. The food was undoubtedly the highlight of the evening. Everything we tried was made with high-quality ingredients and was well-seasoned. The menu offers a wide variety of choices. The presentation was also very appealing, adding to the overall dining experience. However, the biggest downside was the waiting time between dishes. At Ponzu, you have to finish your current dish before ordering the next, and while this can help pace the meal, it also resulted in long delays. It sometimes took quite a while for a waiter to come back to take our next order, and with a full restaurant, this added to the overall wait time. It would be great if the staff could either check in more frequently or allow guests to pre-select a few dishes in advance. I’d still recommend it for a special night out or celebration, especially if you’re not in a rush and want to enjoy a relaxed, flavorful meal.

Recommended for a long sit down meal and conversation with friends and family. The buffet concept is for multiple smaller course through out dinner. Great for special ocassion. This is definitely not suited in case one is hungry or looking for a quick bite. We were back multiple time and thoroughly enjoy it. The service and waitress were very nice.

The food itself was very good! Only that the menu and the website says “one dish per customer per round, it is therefore recommended not to wait for others to finish before ordering your next round” since the prep times and eating can vary. So we went two weeks ago, no problem. Delicious food and nice service. However, we went again last night, and then they told me I had to wait for everyone to finish before ordering. This is especially annoying if you order something small (like an order of 2 oysters, or 3 bites of sashimi) everyone else else orders something which takes much longer to eat. When I pointed this out to the staff because no one took my next order, I did get an attitude and “Yeah the website and menu is wrong. You need to wait.”

Ponzu Asian Style in Utrecht is the perfect place for lovers of refined Asian flavors. The soft creamy lobster soup and tasty prawns, followed by a colorful sashimi plank. The flambé salmon sushi rolls were a real feast, buttery soft on the inside and subtly coated with a layer of sauce. The Genmaicha Japan tea provided the ideal, soothing taste sensation. The modern and cozy atmosphere, combined with friendly and attentive service, makes your visit complete. A tip: place the menu vertically as soon as you want to order another round, so everything runs effortlessly. A very nice Asian restaurant to take your loved one, it will definitely impress. Definitely worth repeating!

We expected a lot from it, but unfortunately it was a big disappointment... Went out for dinner as a couple on a Friday evening. On average it took about 30 minutes per round, so after more than 3 hours we had only tasted 6 dishes. If you want to go home with a full stomach, it's better to skip the starters — 2 oysters already count as one dish. Too bad, because most dishes tasted good. Only the portions were small and the intervals were far too long. Moreover, there were some major mistakes, such as fries that tasted old and reheated. We lost €110 for this disappointing dinner. If you still want to try it: avoid the weekend when it is busy.

Attitude problem at restaurant manager. Other than that, ok food. Overpriced and slow service. We went there to celebrate friend reunion of 3 people. We tried many all you ca eat restaurants in NL and Ponzu tried to outsell us with good quality of food. That you can order a dish per round. Need to wait until finish before other another. The wait is killing us. 20 mins to serve 1 dish which portion is small. We have to wait until we finish. Waiter come to get next order. Wait another 20 mins like a loop. We end up 3 dishes within 1 hr. With this process range - I can call it scam. 2 out of 3 dishes I order, it’s salad which contain vegetables and boiled schrimp top with chilli sause where you can buy it from supermarkets. 🥲 scam. I almost order the soup but waiter said another table just ordered and they confirmed it’s disappointing. I was saved but waiters. Thank you. The side dish you can always order which only bean and rice. 50 euro with many dishes that look like all you can eat (30-40eur and unlimited dishes). Expensive. Long wait. And my stomach only filled with rice. Sushi is super basic. You can have the same quality as takeway restaurants. I am serious. Last part, the manager gave us attitude on stop. We booked the table for 2 weeks and they almost give us table on last minute. Not listen or even look at us where we want to complaint. At least to improve. Just use the hand to stop and talk to other customer. How rude. Waiter are well trained and try to improve situation but Manager is …. Rude. Sorry with this price. Basic food and (very little portion). SCAM

We had dinner there to celebrate special moment because of the good review. We even booked the place 2 months in advanced with a note that we have something to celebrate. Then we went there with excitement and we got super random table. The manager couldn't help with anything according to the employee. The start was already 👎 . Then we ordered food that takes long. We were there for about 3 hours and only able to ordered 6 menu per person. It took about 25 mins per menu. It's just crazy long. I can imagine that the presentation probably what they focused on cause it's beautiful but please also count on the time. The food was okay (normal all you can eat seems better). So nothing special. I mean they sell it as a fine dining and I don't taste it. So it seems the fine dining is really focusing on the presentation. Overall, this restaurant is just overrated, expensive, and please don't have a note on your website if you don't even consider it. I don't really recommend this place and definitely not going back.

We arrived a little earlier than the reservation. Neatly indicated that we wanted to wait a while at the bar or at the table with just a drink, for example. The only 'solution' was to wait outside. Extremely unfriendly and ridiculous. We drove to Utrecht specifically to eat here, otherwise we would have left immediately. The place was half empty. I recently had dinner here with my girlfriend and I have to say WOW! We arrived and were placed downstairs and greeted by a super nice host (thanks Nino!). We then had a delicious meal for an unlimited number of rounds and the food comes every 10 minutes instead of at once, which in our opinion is much better than getting it right away, you really "enjoy" it much more😃! Furthermore, the cocktails were a bit on the pricey side, but good! I will definitely come back here and many thanks to the staff!

We went to Ponzu Asian Cuisine & Sushi & Grill for dinner yesterday and enjoyed it very much. We went to dinner with 4 people and asked for the round table, which we got. I also indicated that it was someone's birthday and I asked for a festive dessert. Although the birthday boy or girl didn't have dessert, they still came by with fireworks. This is really great :) You get 1 dish per round and can order unlimited sides. The dishes are not served large, but this is not necessary if you have sides next to them and do multiple rounds. The staff are very friendly. They're in for a bit of fun and are very social. We will definitely come here more often.

I was hanging out with my friends without realizing how much time had passed, and I ate seafood in abundance, and all the dish plating was so pretty that it didn't feel like Unlimited Restong Lang. I felt like I was eating a full course meal.

At Ponzu you 100% have to try the rack of lamb and the ebi sushi - surprisingly delicious! The service was super friendly and helpful. The only downside: the cocktails were a bit small, pricey and lacked some 'spice'. But we will definitely come back!

This is a very unfriendly store. I can’t bring my drinks if I don’t want to drink them. The clerk won’t let me eat them.

We bought milk tea while shopping and wanted to take it home to drink, but their waiters had a very bad attitude and wouldn't let us in to dine. We couldn't enter unless we gave them the milk tea to keep. They said this was their store rule, otherwise it would affect other customers. We also told her I promise not to drink it because after eating The milk tea shop would be closed, so I bought it in advance and took it home, but we were not allowed to eat in. The woman could only say that she was too bad at doing business. In the future, there are too many restaurants in the Netherlands, not just yours, it was a bit Funny, if this is your boss’s decision, then your boss is awesome.

The evening immediately became more personal by Stanly, an extremely friendly and professional host who introduced himself upon arrival and indicated that he would take care of us this evening. His calm and dedicated way of working was immediately noticeable and remained consistent throughout the evening. It was striking how attentive and dedicated Ponzu's young team was, something that felt almost un-Utrecht in terms of intensity and care. This made the experience extra special. The food itself was a highlight. The sushi stood out because of its freshness and the clear attention with which it was prepared. The rice was exactly as it should be: soft, slightly sticky, and tasty, a perfect base for the various toppings. The concept of small dishes invites you to vary without overeating. Moreover, the rule that wasted food is charged extra forces you to consciously think about your choices, which we thought was a nice and sustainable aspect. With 3 to 4 dishes per person we had more than enough, but the flavors were so good that we went for that one extra dish. In terms of drinks, the service once again stood out. The tart cocktail I started with, while slightly on the sweet side, was pleasant. My partner opted for sake after her cocktail. Stanly once again distinguished himself with his knowledge and advice, which led to a wonderful choice that my partner really appreciated. The evening went at a pleasant pace, just as Ponzu promises on its website: a place where you take the time to eat with attention. Even though the place was packed, nothing felt rushed or chaotic. Everything went quietly, smoothly and with great care. In short, Ponzu is an absolute must for lovers of refined food and a quiet, attentive atmosphere. I've been to this establishment twice, the first time everything was great. The waiter was super and I recommended this place to every friend. But when I came the second time, we were served very slowly and I was outraged by one situation. We were a group of 4 people, after we all ate and decided to pay, a girl waitress with dark hair told us that we had to finish the 4 small pieces of chicken that we didn’t finish or pay for the transfer of food. The chicken was dry, so we didn't finish it. Our check was for 226 euros and we ate everything except 4 pieces of chicken, is this really considered a transfer of food for 4 people? Also, this waitress served us with a very dissatisfied face. There is no longer the slightest desire to return there. Here is a photo of this half-eaten portion. Is this a product translation? While we ate everything else.

Pacing of the food is quite nice. One round per person gives you the time and attention to enjoy the food more. Also less risk of overstuffing yourself. We went to Ponzu once, but never again. The concept is advertised as all you can eat with a twist, the twist being that you get far less than other all you can eat sushi restaurants while at the same time being much more expensive. The food is of poor quality, the menu is all over the place (fries, pasta etc.) and you have to wait a long time in between tiny servings. On top of that, they managed to get one of our order wrong three times in a row, so we had to wait for a long time before eating something. They do not even serve a glass of tap water next to a glass of wine, something we have never experienced before. We left after 40 minutes and will not come back.

Had a delicious meal with my friend here recently. We sat downstairs and the decoration was incredibly beautiful! We had dinner here on a Sunday and it was still surprisingly busy in the restaurant, but that had no influence on the speed with which we were served. The service was very good, especially from the hostess upstairs at the entrance and the host downstairs! Thanks again for the good service Nino! The food was also delicious and we were always surprised by the delicious food! We will definitely come back here! Highly recommended, which was also recommended to us, is the salmon and tuna tartare.

Great concept, especially for the owner. However, none of this has anything to do with fine dining. The food is not bad, but not outstanding either. Many all you can eat restaurants offer significantly better quality. Especially when it comes to sushi, there are numerous restaurants with much better sushi. And above all, more fish. You can always order satieties, including fries and bread. Otherwise you always have to finish eating before you can order a new round. That's not a bad idea in itself, if the portions were such that you feel like you're really getting a dish, especially since the waiters call it a main. Instead, for example, you get a scallop and you wait another 15-20 minutes for the next round. Then not particularly Asian dishes like salmon on pasta with cream sauce. We consistently had the feeling that the aim here was to deliver as little high-quality food as possible; instead, dry ice smoke was used to try to enhance the three small pieces of sashimi. Then there were two spare ribs in between and fried shrimp with sauce on top, these were supposed to be chili shrimp. Guests who ordered an extra dessert for €7.50 received two or three scoops of ice cream. Overall, a really disappointing experience and I can only advise eating somewhere else for over €40 per person or spending more for real fine dining. Answer to the operator: Thank you for explaining or rather promoting your concept. To avoid any misunderstandings, it is absolutely not the case for me that I don't like paying good money for good services and food. In the case of this restaurant, however, fine dining is advertised, and the food and the quality of the food do not meet the advertised standards. To portray it as if I expected a cheap AYCE and didn't appreciate the quality of the food is absolutely wrong. Just because you give something an Asian name on the menu doesn't mean it's Asian. If two pieces of spare ribs on an empty plate are part of fine dining, then I've been to the wrong very good restaurants so far. ;)

We ate incredibly tasty fine dining dishes at Ponzu in Utrecht. We sat downstairs in a kind of cave-like space, which gave a very cozy, romantic atmosphere. The dishes were all very fresh in taste, we had no comments or comments about this. They have various wines, exotic drinks including Japanese sake, plum wine, Scotch whisky, Chinese Maotai wine, Korean soju and various cocktails. Dessert is not included in the price. €7.50 per dessert. Parking is available in a parking garage for a fee. Tuesday – Thursday Adults €41.50 Friday – Sunday Adults €43.95 We will definitely come back to eat here!

A very nicely decorated restaurant with appropriate warm lighting. The service was plentiful and we were helped by a friendly young man throughout our visit. We opted for a la carte and not for the all you can eat concept because as small eaters we thought it was too expensive at €40 p.p.

Fantastic food, nice atmosphere and friendly service. Recommended and definitely worth repeating.
