The barista was very friendly! Unfortunately, the matcha tasted mostly like whole milk, with a touch of matcha. I last got matcha here in February, so it might have been changed! I'll try it again!

Terrible service. I've been to Jacques several times, and I've always noticed that white people are treated warmly, while people of color and/or wearing headscarves simply can't crack a smile. I've heard this confirmed by other people who have been there. What a letdown for a supposedly woke all-inclusive establishment. Also, that overweight man behind the counter with his unique figure needs to work on his arrogant attitude; he really thinks he invented matcha. Best, I'll never come here again.

I ordered iced matcha latte but he gave me iced matcha. The person who was working when i came there to order, was not an happy person i guess, bc he didn't even showed a single emotion. I think they should really try to improve at welcoming their customers and give us what we actually ordered.

I had an excellent filter coffee and an amazing carrot cake. You have to try it. The only downside is that there are no seating areas.

Ran here to come before five, came at 16:53 and was refused an ESPRESSO. Customer service 0 ( and i work in a cafe, so trust me when i say that i know how long it takes to make an espresso)

Unprofessional barista, ordered a cold brew that was basically colored tap water with ice cubes. Place wants to look hype with clean aesthetics but products and service still need to upgrade.

What a fantastic place! My best friend's birthday was overheard, and the curly-haired coffee guy gave me free matcha. So sweet! It's only a 9.9 and not a 10 because they couldn't play the song "Matcha Coco." ;) We had a great time!

Very cool matcha spot right in the center of Utrecht. We had both the iced matcha and the warm matcha — both were really good, you can tell they use proper, good quality matcha. We also tried the blueberry muffin and the cinnamon roll muffin, both super tasty. There aren’t any outdoor tables, but you can sit in the window outside or just grab your drink to go. It’s a nice little spot to relax and people-watch for a bit. Definitely recommend if you’re into matcha or looking for a good café in the city center.

Nice little Aesthetic coffee shop in the heart of Utrecht. They also have delicious matcha. For a change, I tried the strawberry matcha. Tasted great! 🍵🍓

I visited on a very hot day (over 30°C) and we ordered an iced matcha strawberry and one with mango both with soy milk. I noticed that the soy milk was not stored in the fridge, which made the iced matcha not cold but lukewarm. The matcha itself was bitter, and the strawberry topping was unfortunately very sour. Overall, I was disappointed with the experience and had a very bad matcha experience.

Unfortunately I can't give it any lower. We saw this cafe on social media. At first glance it looked very nice and cute. Until we arrived at the store. We were welcomed anything but friendly by the gentlemen who were there. They clearly didn't feel like doing their job. It felt more like a burden that they had to make our drinks. There was no smile or friendliness. On the other hand, if you come in with a bottle of wine and are apparently someone they know, you will be welcomed very festively. You will also not be wished a nice day as soon as they serve your drink, it is put down and called out, you have to make do with that. What you have to take into account is that you only get a small size matcha that is not even worth the money. For the same price, a larger size and much better service you can go elsewhere. Please don't waste your money on this, go somewhere else and enjoy delicious matcha and friendly people. We will not be coming here again in any case.

Only had pastry, can't say anything about coffee - unfortunately pistachio cruffin was at least 1-2 days old (absolutely not same day) - tasted stale and hard to bite, avoid it. For EUR 4.90 per piece and good reviews here, was a very dissappointing experience

Matcha is ok, staff doesn't seem to be into it and they stand there as if they would rather be doing something else!

I was very curious about this place because of social media and the reviews here. However, my enthusiasm disappeared quite quickly. Friendliness is very important to me and yes, it was busy and yes, it was warm, but a little more enthusiasm and fun in what you do could have been there. However, you could also taste that missing enthusiasm in the coffee... super too bad! Maybe I'll try it again another time... and then hope to come back with a more positive review.

I only tried the iced oat matcha so I can’t comment on the food, but it was very well made. Bright green matcha powder and balanced matcha flavour. Don’t even need sweetener because it has natural sweetness, that is not overpowering either.

While visiting Utrecht, we bought curfine from this place upon my daughter's recommendation. It was delicious. You can eat it wherever you want outside. There is no seating area. They sit outside by the window. I recommend it.

Racist barista with really bad vibes. Matcha was disgusting, purely milk with a sprinkle of matcha. Both guests after us (white/European) got better looking matchas. Won't recommend.

Great coffee shop, friendly staff, and good snacks

I was surprised by the quality of my Latte Macchiato. I don’t like my Latte Macchiato too bitter and this one is just the right amount of coffee that you can taste the coffee and not the bitterness from it. The amount is also good comparing to the price. The Pistachio Cruffin was also a hit. The perfect level of crunchiness and it wasn’t too sweet. The pistachio filling was very decadent too. The only minus point is that they don’t have a table and the seats are not that comfortable. Was such a hassle trying to drink our coffee and eating the cruffin because you don’t have enough hands.

I tried their matcha latte with coconut milk, and paid around 6 euros! Fair prices, unfortunately they don’t have any restrooms, it is take away only!

The matcha is made very professionally with the traditional whisk 💞🫶🏼 I recommend the matcha passion fruit!! Would definitely come back here :) Too bad you don't have seats ..

Tried many matcha places in Netherlands. But this one is so good! It’s a small shop located in a lively area of Utrecht. I got an Iced Matcha with Oat milk and also bought 30g of their matcha. I will say I was a bit skeptical about their matcha because they stored it in a clear container. Surprisingly the matcha powder was crisp and light. It definitely is good for beginners getting into matcha. The oat milk compliments the matcha and it was one of the best I had while in Netherlands.

Tried the strawberry matcha and its was great. It’s a fairly small cafe with minimal seats at the front of shop, but best to buy to go.

A new coffee and matcha place in the center of Utrecht. I suggest to pay it a visit. Matcha is above average, they also offer various syrups such as mango or strawberry for those who like it sweeter. Service is good. You can also buy roasted coffee beans from various countries here.

Nice place and friendly staff. I myself always take iced matcha with vanilla syrup, but not every place works with syrups, according to Jacques. If no vanilla syrup is used, I only take matcha without a flavor (which I also find delicious). Only I found the matcha of Jacques on the bitter side and not cold enough. It was a lukewarm drink with a bitter taste.

Lumpy matcha, coffee was interesting, one espresso was a lot better than the other. One watery and bitter the other one had more depth but was flat on flavour. Looks close to the coffee district and serves the same selection of pastries from what can be seen is the same provider, in this regard the pastries don’t taste fresh enough and it doesn’t rectify this price. The coffee and the matcha are delicious. You can tell that they understand about the drinks and they select good beans for coffee and matcha. The matcha is huge. The place is really small and don't have space to set inside. But ir has like a "bench" outside the coffee shop. They start the closed process 15 min before the limit time. So, be attention with the time, because it's possible that you find the place closed.

I thought Jacques was a real disappointment. I ordered a matcha, but there were all kinds of lumps in it that were not mixed properly. The staff didn't really seem to want it and the matcha itself tasted like fish, making it almost impossible to drink. I had tried 3 types of matcha, including the iced matcha, the strawberry matcha and the mango matcah. And unfortunately they were all undrinkable. Hopefully they do something about it, because this was really not a pleasant experience.

I recently came here for the (strawberry) matcha and the matcha was honestly undrinkable. The strawberry had no added value, it was much bitter and the staff was also super unfriendly. If only the drinks were as good as the interior

The owner of this coffee shop is blatantly racist and shockingly unprofessional. I was simply asking about the types of coffee they serve and explaining what I was looking for. Out of nowhere, he kicked me out of the shop and outright refused to sell me anything. No explanation, no decency—just pure discrimination, most likely based on how I look. This kind of behavior is disgusting and unacceptable. Someone like that doesn’t deserve a single customer, let alone support from the community. If you value basic respect and human dignity, stay far away from this place.

Best coffee to go in Utrecht. Nice pastries selection, every time I go I choose a different one and all are good. It seems some pastries are seasonal so go for it if you dont want to miss out! That cruffin with pistachio cream is top 1, followed by a muffin with pumpkin cream filling (hope they are back!). Also the chip cookie is delish! 🩷

I love seeing more cosy cafe’s open up in Utrecht! I have had the matcha latte with oat milk multiple times. Its really good. The flavour is well balanced. Will have to come back soon to try their coffee and bakery stuff :)

Coffee is very tasty, matcha was okay. It was also ready in 10 seconds.. I thought it was very expensive for the ml's you get. I also expected better quality cups for such a price with the matcha. I also had a chocolate chip cookie, incredibly tasty. That's why not 3 but 4 stars. * please do something about the matcha cups

I found this cute coffee shop in the center of Utrecht via social media. I had a Flat White (and was tempted by the delicious treats) and this was honestly the best coffee ever! Every drink is carefully made and the staff greets everyone who comes in very friendly. The only downside is that there are no seats inside due to the small space, but outside you can enjoy your coffee (or matcha) with a view of the canals!

Hi fellow traveler! I live in Utrecht and visit this place almost every Wednesday afternoon. I grab my coffee here and take a walk along the canals. It's a nice routine, and the coffee from Jacques makes it better. Here are the pros and cons of this place: Pros: - Affordable prices, - Welcoming staff, - Delicious coffee, - Very central location. Cons: - The only downside is that they don’t have tables or chairs to sit. If you're looking for a place to sit and rest, you might want to consider other options—but it's definitely recommended for anyone who wants to grab a coffee and enjoy the canals.

My favorite part of the journey going to the office in Utrecht every Tuesday and Wednesday! Excellent coffee hand picked by the owner and perfect to fill up the stash at home with different beans specially from Brazil which I absolutely love.

The atmosphere of the place and the person behind the counter were both great. They don't have seats, everything is to go. I had a cinnamon bun and it didn't really taste very fresh. Their coffee is more on the sour side. They have different plant based milk available. All in all it is okay 👍🏼

Got the last piece of their Pistachio Cruffin (4.5 euro). Not the kind of sweet pistachio paste that I expected, but it was still pleasingly delish. The pistachio paste was creamier rather than sweet, and the sprinkled of sea salt on top made it even tastier. Another favorite of mine is the Chocolate Cookie (2.5 euro). The dark chocolate was rich and intense, perfectly gooey, and not overly sweet. I think you need to also try the cookie. The space is small and only offers takeaway. However, they do provide seating in front 🪑

Very friendly owner who makes delicious coffee! We had a cappuccino that was perfect. The chai latte had a subtle taste and was therefore extra tasty. The apple cinnamon cake was also fantastic. Highly recommended!

Very tasty coffee, beautiful equipment and simplistic looks. That's all you need when you serve good coffee. The proportions of the coffee were really perfect (espresso tonic & cappuccino).

Tasty ceremonial matcha and iced coffee. If you want the matcha a little sweeter, I recommend the mango matcha. We had also had the banana bread and pistachio cruffin. Everything was recommended.

Nice cafe in the center of Utrecht

At first glance it looks like a specialty store, but in my opinion a bit mainstream. No complexity and depth.

I keep writing “Melbourne level flat white” and have meant it at Blackbird and Vanneau and really mean it here! Best of the three and the other two were exceptional so that gives you an idea of the level.

When we arrived both guys were busy preparing coffee. My dad wanted to check if they have a toilet (spoiler - they don't), and the guy started rudely blaming him for being impolite and going without asking. My dad is a tourist in the city, he's quite an adult, he doesn't speak Dutch or English, only German - and he was absolutely shocked by the person speaking that intense and being pretty rude. It was 100% not nice, and definitely something you don't expect. Mate, I don't want your parents to face the same situation in a new place. You might just say, like, sorry, it's a private area and not to teach a person good manners in such a rude way. Thank god there are plenty of nice places nearby.

Nice coffee shop right on the corner. The flat white I had was good. Not the tastiest coffee, but certainly tasty for once. Delicious in combination with the cinnamon roll from Have a Roll (20 meters away)!
