KEEK lunchroom in Wijk 06 Binnenstad

Lovely place, fantastic food and lovely people.

I love coming here because I really like the sweet scone. Unfortunately, the service has declined considerably. Last week, I sat for 25 minutes without anyone helping me, even though I greeted the staff member upon arrival. I left on my own. Such a shame.

Just a short walk from Utrecht Central Station — and totally worth it. Great coffee, amazing pastries, and a surprisingly spacious café (a rare combo near the station). We came in as a large group — five seniors, one toddler, and me trying to keep everyone caffeinated. The seniors were happy (a miracle on its own), and our toddler was fully entertained with books and toys. So entertained, in fact, that she decided to express her joy… loudly. Thankfully, the staff handled it with the perfect mix of kindness and subtle diplomacy — gently reminding us not to turn the café into a kindergarten concert. 😂 All in all, a cozy spot with heart, patience, and pastries good enough to calm any crowd.

A very welcoming place to have a quiet breakfast, even though there's not a lot of seating. I recommend trying the scones, which are very delicious. I didn't know this, but water is free and you can refill it! The only downside, as an Italian, is that I once had a disgusting espresso! The staff were friendly.

Great croissants and good coffee

Had a delicious apple chai. A lovely, small, authentic bakery and lunchroom.

We enjoyed a variety of dishes, all of which were equally fresh and flavorful. The generously filled rolls are highly recommended – a truly delicious lunch with fresh raw vegetables, hummus, egg, cheese, and more. Flavor bombs, each topped with seeds. The soup, a thick, orange pumpkin and carrot soup, and the fresh bread with olive tapenade were delicious!

Understaffed. Coffee and sweets not served in sync so either cold coffee with your cake or just finish your coffee first.. Lots of take-away traffic. Big plus is the laptopfree zone sign! Not impressed with the bakings..

A great flat white coffee and delicious pastries. Close to the Nijntje Museum and Central Museum. Obviously a very popular café.

Very nice café at the entrance to Utrecht city center, quiet. Very friendly staff, very good drinks and excellent pastries, especially the cinnamon roll and the scines with the delicious little lemon cream.

The cinnamon roll was delicious, and the ginger tea with lemon was just what we needed. Nice place, plenty of seating, and a good variety of treats. Highly recommended! A slightly wider selection of sweets would have been nice :)

Friendly staff. The carrot cake was unfortunately very dry and sour. I expected more! It'll be a one-time visit for me.

To give this 3 stars is generous. I had lunch here with a friend. The waiter cleared a table for us when we entered but never wiped it clean. My friend had to get up to get some napkins and wipe it himself. Then after a long delay someone came to take our order. But we had no drinks menu so I asked for one. He said he’d come back to take our drinks order but never did. So my friend had to walk to the bar to order those. Our meals came after a lengthy wait. Nice quality. But we were halfway through the meal and still had no drinks. I went to the bar to ask if we could get them and was told it would be another few minutes’ wait. How long does it take to put ice in two glasses and serve bottled drinks? If you don’t care about service and have a lot of time to waste, then this is the place for you.

Good coffee and pastries. Friendly staff and a relaxed vibe in the city centre of Utrecht. Definitely a place worth visiting if you're in for a good cup of coffee or something to eat.

Cute little cafe with delicious food (try the cheese scones), tasty coffee and a good tea selection. Very cosy atmosphere and super friendly staff.

Had a lovely lunch in this charming cafe. Good choices for vegans, I had the Homemade Artichoke Tapenade Sandwich which was delicious, fresh and full of textures and flavour.

I ordered the morning set. It was a great lunch. I chose a scorn, the scorn was delicious. Inside was soft and outside was crunchy.

The place is nice. Croissant was very good and was served with a jam. They don’t have sweeteners which I found awkward (the waitress told me it’s not organic) . I found the yogurt and granola a bit expensive for €7.50. The service was ok no more or less.

Nice enough place for coffee during the pandemic, but for euros 50 for a ginger tea is outrageous. Avoid.

We went here after a museum visit, after I had been wanting to try them for a while already. We ordered coffee and some cakes. They were quite busy, and we saw our waitress going in and out of the shop, it looked like she had to deliver some goods to the kitchen. Unfortunately our cakes did not arrive. We finished our coffees and went to pay. When we went to pay, we could see our cake order standing on the counter. They had not bothered to bring it to us. The lady at the counter did apologise, but I recommend to skip this place when they are busy.

Super nice and cozy place for a delicious scone and smoothie (or something else of course). It feels like a living room. Fast and friendly service.

One of my favorite Brunch places in Utrecht. Always worth it to order the KEEK board plank to share as you can try many dishes. In picture : caesar salad, hearty carrot turmeric soup, perfectly baked sourdough bread with dips (spinach hummus, black beans and salsa).

We went to eat here because it is open before the Miffy museum opens :) Promising place in terms of location and design, unfortunately not very attentive service. (No greetings upon entering even though we were the first, forgot part of the order) Food was okay, nothing special. N.a.v. I honestly expected more from the reviews.

Terrific little spot for coffee and cake!

Typical but good Dutch coffee shop. The service is top notch.

A bit of faded glory. I have the feeling that they once put together all the dishes with a lot of passion, but the execution is now a bit without passion and love. You can taste that. I think the owner could be more present to 'straighten things out' because this is a shame.

Just wow. Stopped by by chance and received it because of the display. Absolutely fantastic nice service and the food is incredibly delicious.

No fresh juice unfortunately and no fruit smoothies. Shame. Weather and location are great.

Very friendly staff and the drink is great

Very cozy small place. The scone was good but it is not the typical scone that falls apart. Staff was very friendly. We did need to go to the counter to order though. Chocolate cake looked delicious! I’ll definitely come back to try more goodies.

Good was good, bit pricey for the amount

What a lovely cafe. I was glad to go there on a slow morning. Both the cinnamon roll (pictured here post-first-bite) and the iced latte was delicious. Good service, great atmosphere.

Ordered delicious homemade lemonade. They have a table in the back where you can work on your laptop.

Informal living room atmosphere

It was a nice lunchroom, it was a bit too crowded than the acoustics allowed. The door was open and cold breeze blew in every now and then. Only when we left I noticed the door curtain they have. The service was a tad slow, taking 20 min. for a tea and an apple juice.

Wonderful to sit with a book, nice coffee and delicious breakfast or lunch dishes. Friendly staff and everything organic. No extra costs for oat milk, class!

Super cozy atmosphere and the coffee is very tasty, best coffee shop!

We had a delicious vegan plank. She made it something different than on the menu, because things were sold out. That was explained nicely and there was so much food that we couldn't finish it.

Cozy atmosphere, nice place to eat

Unfortunately, we did not have the best experience here. I was a bit disappointed with the service. Our order (2 cappuccinos, 2 pastries) has been forgotten -which can happen, that was not a problem!- and when we asked about it, they brought our cappuccinos but forgot the pastries we had also ordered. We then had to go up to the staff again to ask about our pastries. Somehow they then only brought 1 cinnamon roll, then realised we had another pastry, but instead of the cake, they brought another cinnamon roll. It just seemed like the staff wasn’t very attentive. HOWEVER, the cappuccino was very nice! I liked the cinnamon roll as well, maybe a bit hard but the flavour was nice and not too sweet. Also the atmosphere was cosy especially on a rainy day.

Food is tasty and conscious. Unfortunately, I forgot an order twice.

Expensive for what you get, somewhat limited menu, only vegetarian/vegan and not much culinary. Laptops are not welcome inside, which I can imagine, but all those posters and active enforcement come across as inhospitable and are actually counterproductive to the “friendly character”. Too alternative for me.

I'm not a breakfast fan (it's too early). But this was THE BEST. Excellent fresh pressed apple juice from unusual fruit, terrific jam and the best croissant. Good cappuccino, too.

As always, I enjoyed the coffee, but unfortunately I was very cold because the door was open and had to remain standing! When we asked if the door could be closed, we were told that otherwise there would quickly be too little oxygen? Too bad because we would have liked to stay longer, but because of the cold we left soon after coffee

Cozy place and delicious pastries

Great lunch location, mainly vegetarian offerings. Portions are generous. Not very exciting food.

Keek Twijnstraat is one of my favorite places in Utrecht, but this afternoon I walked away because we sat for half an hour and were not helped. Other people who came in later were helped. I was disappointed :( Please keep thinking about the customers, dear employees of Kijk

Very nice lunchroom with tasty dishes. Espresso is highly recommended, as is the carrot cake. Very friendly staff. Would go there again.

Bediening was o.k. De muntthee is hier wel erg duur €4,95 Rectificatie: €4,30 elders €3,25 (in dezelfde straat) verschil €1,05.

The foccacia was amazing. Service a little slow, but worth the wait.

Het eten vanmiddag bij Keek vond ik heel teleurstellend. Dit heb ik ook aangegeven bij de bediening. De foccacia very vegan was niet smakelijk, harde stukjes, heel weinig hummus ,en dat voor 9 € ik vond het triest dat ze dit durven vragen.. ik hoop dat hier verandering in gaat komen want dit kan echt niet :-((((

Op een zondagmiddag bij de lunchroom geweest, assortiment is niet erg groot en de eerste drie (!) keuzes waren al uitverkocht. Uiteindelijk bijna zes euro betaald voor een klein halfgaar appelgebakje, supermarkt was lekkerder en goedkoper geweest. Latte en andere koffie was wel erg lekker. Bediening was vriendelijk maar kwam niet nogmaals naar de tafel of we nog wat wilden drinken. De bakkerij is top maar lunchroom geen aanrader.

Süßes kleines Café im Künstler Viertel Utrecht. Der Service war ausgesprochen freundlich und unser Frühstück wirklich lecker. Sowohl das süße Scone, als auch der herzhafte waren beide frisch und lecker. Dazu guter Kaffee, frisch gepresster Apfelsaft und eine Mieze, die anscheinend zum Inventar gehört 🐈 Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen 😊

The frittata that I ordered was very small and surely not enough for 1 person. It was a little less than 10e but considering the ingredients and the quantity, it wasn't worth it. The kids menu was served on 1 plate which wasn't very handy nor pleasant to eat. It could have been nice to have at least the brownie on a separate plate for instance. The service was ok-ish but not the most efficient. I've been to that place before very often and I must admit the quality has drastically decreased.

My favorite café place in Utrecht!

Came here with a friend for brunch and the food did not disappoint! The cappuccino was very smooth and flavourful and the service from the two girls who worked that day were really friendly :)

Sehr leckere Borellplatte zum Mittag verputzt. Reicht leicht für 2 Personen.

Samen met mijn zus hebben we hier afgelopen week heerlijk gelunched. Wij hebben goed genoten van de vegan KEEK plank. De plank had alles dat bij een goede lunch past, een soepje, een broodje, een kleine salade, etc. wat allemaal super lekker smaakte. De bediening was misschien aan de langzamere kant, maar tijdens de vakantie en met een beetje geduld is dat helemaal niet erg, dan heb ik namelijk meer tijd om gezellig bij te kletsen met mijn zus!

Na een bezoek aan het museum Catherijneconvent wilden we graag ergens biologisch kunnen lunchen. En dan is KEEK een goed adres op loopafstand. Het was voorin wat druk en we konden door naar de achterkamer waar we aan een ronde tafel prima met ons vieren hebben kunnen kletsen. We dronken er verse appelsap (bruin, maar heel lekker) en homemade lemonades. Verder bestelden we de focaccias kaas en de salades zwarte boon en die met polenta. Wat een nice surprise, echt heerlijk gegeten. Na aan tafel wat griezelverhalen gehoord te hebben over korrelige polenta heb ik deze toch maar besteld en dat was een schot in de roos. De salades zijn een royale portie vol met verse groentes en mooie smaken. Heel fijn om ergens te eten waar biologisch ook echt een bord vol versheid is. En dat zonder dat je er de hoofdprijs betaald voor het eten. Verder goede ambiance en leuk personeel. Ik ben fan! Helaas woon ik niet in Utrecht, maar dit adresje staat genoteerd. Al is het maar om de taart te proeven, daar zijn we niet meer aan toegekomen. Volgende keer dan maar :-D

Hier heb ik een prima foccacia gegeten, alles smaakte vers, visueel ook top, een waar kleurenpalet op het bord. Personeel vriendelijk, sfeer relaxed. Glutenvrije opties zijn aanwezig.

Limonade voor 4,50? Kleeein beetje geschrokken van deze prijs voor een limonade.. fijn dat de bediende mijn reactie goed begreep ik snap dat inflatie etc hier een rol bij speelt maar echt oprecht niet de 4,50 waard haha Ik had rond de 2,50-2,95 al prima prijs gevonden. 4,50 betaal je tegenwoordig van een speciaal biertje. Voor de rest echt een superleuk plekje aan de Twijnstraat met ook zeer vriendelijke bediening. De rest van de kaart toch echt aan de prijzige kant jammer genoeg.

Op het www leek me het erg leuk om hier te gaan zitten als start van onze dag in Utrecht. Viel me helaas tegen...scone werd koud geserveerd, het chocoladebroodje werd zonder overleg/lag al op het bord vervangen voor bananenbrood, alles nogal flauw en laf van smaak. En de chai latte idem, had gewoon meer verwacht nav de berichten en reviews.

Zelfs wanneer het druk is, hoef je niet lang te wachten.

Lekker ontbijt gehad, yoghurt met granola. En een thee met een lekker koekje. Ontspannen sfeertje, fijn dat jullie op maandagochtend open zijn!

Delicious coffee. Loved the plum cake and vegan chocolate cake. Very simple and relaxed atmosphere. Service was great.

If you want scones and pain au chocolat, you’ll probably be happy. Coffee is good too. But the polenta is disappointing, the boiled eggs come in the shell (?!), and the gluten-free cheese (savory) scones are non-existent even though 2 wait staff told us they had them when we asked - so when I received my food I was sorely disappointed to see a sad-looking sandwich with little gluten-free bread slices. I would’ve ordered soup instead had the information been clear. Bread was cold, polenta was cold and not browned or golden, and the egg was cold and in its shell. Given slow service, and everything else I’d say skip it and the prices aren’t worth it.

I really liked the cappuccino. It was perfect. And the focaccia with black beans is also good, but wayyy to expensive. Especially all the small things, like the peanut bar- delicious but too expensive.

Prima plekje, porties alleen aan de kleine kant

Goeie gezellige sfeer, fijn personeel, en erg lekker koffie/chocolademelk/chai latte. Ook het gebak vind ik hier top! In de zomer kan het wel redelijk warm zijn binnen maar verder echt een fijn café.

Coffee was good, but the 'grilled cheese' was not up to par at all. The grilled cheese was not a grilled cheese. The bread on a grilled cheese is supposed to be crunchy all around, not a slight crunch. A real grilled cheese is made using a lot of butter in a pan to fry the bread in along with the cheese, this was clearly not the case here, the bread was still soft and barely any crunch. The cheese was also not properly melted at all, it was slightly warmed up but retained the original shape it had from the package it came from. You couldn't call this a melt/tosti let alone a proper grilled cheese. A complete failure on the kitchen's part here. A stark contrast with the coffee. Service was okay and atmosphere was fairly nice.
