Great, delicious food, friendly service, relaxed atmosphere, and lovely by the water!

HORRIBLE service. Truly. The entire restaurant was empty but yet it was too stressful for the restaurant to serve. Ridiculous.

I can’t really recommend this restaurant. The menu is very limited and what they have is expensive for what you get. The photos here have nothing to do with what is actually served at the restaurant. Service was very slow. They did warn us that items might not come out together but four of us were done and plates cleared before the last two meals were served. They do have a nice setting with an outdoor terrace. Seems like it deserves a better menu and service.

Amazing location with a lot of flare!

There are times when I feel ashamed of the Dutch hospitality industry. Somehow, some cafés and bars seem to immediately give in to a somewhat full terrace. The same goes for Kanis. It took a long time (the snacks arrived before the drinks (after 15 minutes)), the table was dirty, the bread roll was rock hard, no sourdough (as stated on the menu), and the herb butter was not properly seasoned. That is just a shame for €6 for an old, overbaked roll. That is often the problem; mediocre quality doesn't have to be an issue. But it immediately becomes one when the price is high; then it stands out right away. A real shame, because Kanis is located in a beautiful spot!

A very nice local place that I discovered by accident. Tasty food and good service. The potato wedges is excellent (much better than what I had in the city center), and the ceviche is fantastic (I didn't take a photo because I couldn't wait to eat it).

We had a great lunch here. The waiter was really nice, and the terrasse is above water, it is really a nice place. I strongly recommand the appel pie !

Location somewhat secluded on a quay. Reasonably cozy eatery, a bit noisy; a small black napkin was invisibly hidden under my fried egg. Either the knives were blunt, or the bread was tough, but slicing it was a bit difficult.

Great atmosphere for eating. My order was quite reasonable, but the portions were small. Ideal for having a coffee or beer.

The service is always friendly and attentive. The lunch (lentil soup and salad) is very tasty and well-priced. A nice place for good vegan food. The wine is also fine and reasonably priced. Highly recommended!

Excellent food, great service and very considerate of allergies with all the staff. There was a jazz trio band too who were very good. Good drink selection and recommendations from the staff.

A waitress, Sofie, is always so nice. It's really fun to come here, especially when she's working (and she always gives me an extra cookie with my coffee, shhh). A solid 10/10!

Underwhelming food quality and at least fish meal is overpriced. Fish meal was very small. There was few people serving. Most of the menu was finished. Kind service but very lousy management.

Had dinner here in early December. Great service, good coffee, and nice wine. The food, however, was much worse. Overcooked fries, a burger that was truly subpar. And the extractor fan, while on, was so poorly functioning that the entire restaurant was filled with the greasy smell of fried fish. Absolutely awful. The service wasn't great either.

Throwing a party at KANIS is a celebration in itself! You're completely taken care of, with excellent, flexible arrangements made in advance regarding snacks and drinks. And on the day itself, everything runs smoothly thanks to the friendly and helpful staff. The snacks were delicious!

Nice restaurant. I found the service a little slow, although they were very friendly and attentive. The grapefruit mocktail was delicious. I ordered a hamburger, which was very, very tasty. The meat was rare, just the way I like it.

We went for the apple tart and coffee and we made the right choice. Highly recommend it. Very helpful and pleasant staff as well.

A lovely, peaceful waterfront location, perfect for a sunny summer evening. The atmosphere is relaxed and the seating is comfortable. The drinks platter was unfortunately disappointing. For €22, you get: 2 cubes of cheese, 2 toasts with ratatouille and a cube of feta, 3 vegan bitterballen (bitterballen), 3 cheese sticks, a small tub of herb butter (unflavored) with bread the size of half a Kaiser roll, some olives, 3 pickles, 3 Amsterdam onions, and a few sauces. Poorly presented and, unfortunately, lacking in love. A shame, because this place has real potential. I just lack the passion for good food; a well-stocked, beautifully composed platter would really complete it. Next time, just bitterballen/cheese sticks and a beer (or a glass of wine)—you really don't need anything more for a beautiful summer evening.

I can do nothing but praise this place to the skies! Enjoyed the (vegetarian) bbq deal and lovely on the terrace. The service is relaxed, fun and friendly. Plus the location, absolutely great.

Tonight we had dinner at Kanis again. It was delicious again. Haddock roasted on the skin, with pearl couscous, oven tomatoes and asparagus. With it a sauce of butter and dashi - sort of beurre blanc, so nicely spiced :-) For desert we had rhubarb with sticky rice and a crumble of sunflower seeds. Also very tasty! The service was also good and friendly, as always. When the weather is nice you can also sit by the water. Really recommended!

There was a problem with the level of doneness of my friend's hamburger. The staff kindly apologized and made it right for us quickly. Good service recovery is excellent service.

We came here with a group and ate burgers. The staff was very good and everything was ready quickly. I didn't think the burger was that special and the mayo was really bad. We took part in the pub quiz, which unfortunately was not very well attended. The atmosphere was quite mediocre and we were asked just too often if we wanted another drink.

Staff is open, hospitable, helpful and flexible. Atmosphere is informal yet professional. Menu is varied.

After a few good lunch experiences, we had dinner at Kanis tonight. Unfortunately, that was very disappointing. The dishes were absolutely substandard. First of all, it didn't look like much: a 1/8th piece of pointed cabbage with 5 potatoes sitting on what looked like a thin layer of instant mashed potatoes floating in a watery yellow sauce that was supposed to represent a curry beurre blanc. The whole thing was sprinkled with fried onions from Sligro. We were unable to discover the cauliflower. The taste did not make us forget the terrible first impression, the meager quantity did not satisfy our hunger. After reporting the latter to the otherwise very friendly waitress, we left still hungry, disappointed and 70 euros poorer.

Cozy light place, nice staff (jug of water was served immediately), (too) large slices of good bread. But who will take care of the decoration of the place? Weird moldy stem as a flower on the table and a chair with torn upholstery! Not very hospitable. My scrambled eggs could also have been served on my plate with the bread, which would save an unnecessary bowl.

Great terrace on the water. Unfortunately, the new owner is less hospitable than the previous owners and sometimes downright bossy towards customers. The rest of the service is ok, although they seem understaffed when the weather is nice (quite a long wait for order). Fosco (from the previous owners of Kanis) is a good alternative.

I am impressed by the friendly welcome and service. The lady immediately brought a carafe of cold water with a glass. Wonderful, since it was at least 33° on this sunny day. Cozy terrace on the water. I had a beer and an espresso at normal prices. I was able to relax and rest from my walk. Nice atmosphere. I will definitely come back to eat here too.

I had a wonderful experience at KANIS! The management is truly hospitable and makes sure that both humans and their canine friends feel welcome. Our dog was allowed inside, which made our meal even more enjoyable. The view of the water added a serene backdrop to our meal. The food and drinks were fantastic. A special shout out to the very friendly, English speaking staff who went out of their way to accommodate us and ensure our evening was perfect. Highly recommended for a relaxed and enjoyable outing!

A beautiful neighborhood bar, with a calm and peaceful energy. Great views and a nice assortment of apparatives drinks and beers. Bo the manager is always a pleasure, welcoming and hospitable. A true Gem. Also they are dog friendly and always offer him water. 🐕

The eggplant was nothing special and I was still hungry afterwards.
