We had eaten here a few times before. This last time was a bit disappointing. First of all, we had to wait an hour between ordering and the serving of the main courses: that is really too long. On top of that, a meal soup was forgotten and was only brought 10 minutes after the other main courses: by then, they were almost ready. There was hardly any fish to be found in that signature dish fish soup. That was rectified, but by then the rest of the table had finished. We actually didn't find that signature dish very tasty. Our table companions had mussels but weren't very impressed with them either. A shame, because it remains a cozy place. Now they need to bring the food back up to standard.

Great place to have dinner and a few beers! Lovely staff, very welcoming and warm. The fish of the day was absolutely delicious, all the ingredients were fresh. Special points for the tap beer, which was served really cold. Would definitely go back!

Nice food and cool location, really relaxing inside Amsterdam centre. We just walked around and tried to find somewhere to sit and eat lunch after 4 hours walk at IBC trade show. Originally we wanted to find a place with good canals view, and suddenly walked into an alley. That’s how we found this cute place. We ordered four different dishes and all tasted good, we didn’t have the stomach for dessert.

First time in Amsterdam, coming from Canada the city lives up to the hype, no notes there. I was hungry, walking past restaurant after restaurant with lines out the door the kind of lines that tell you everyone else already did their homework. I hadn't. Took a wrong turn, gave up on the search, and landed at Zeppos Café instead. Service was efficient few words, order taken, zero small talk. The burger arrived. It was a burger. Did what burgers do. Nobody in that kitchen lost sleep over it, and neither will you. If you want the authentic tourist experience no lines, no waiting, no ambition congratulations, you've found the place. Just don't expect what those other restaurants clearly had figured out. Nothing to write home about, but you'll survive, and so will your afternoon.

Last Monday I ate cheese fondue here. Well, that was a huge disappointment. The cheese fondue was grainy and had very little cheese flavor. Do not order!

Beautiful place to have some lunch when walking through the centre of Amsterdam. The location, in my opinion, is not the best part of town (nothing like Jordaan), so going inside this little nook was a breath of fresh air. Just stunning! Food was amazing, we tried Dutch food, some veal croquettes and some raw sausage! It's basically like steak tartare but in a sausage shape. I loved it! and it comes with bread and salad, so yummy. Prices are incredibly decent. We tried some local beer as well, incredible, obviously. Waitresses were lovely and everything was just perfect. They take cash and card!

We ended up here by chance, and at first glance, it looks very cozy and atmospheric. Good, affordable prices for drinks and plenty of choice on the menu. The food tasted good and was nicely presented. However, we found the service a bit inconsistent; one young lady was very friendly, while the other didn't seem very enthusiastic. Otherwise, it is definitely worth a visit.

We had a fantastic evening at Captain Zeppos. The vegan dish was really enjoyable, and the burger was super tasty! The atmosphere is very relaxed. It was quite loud at first, but as tourists, we were happy to be there. The later it got, the more at home we felt. The service was excellent all evening and the staff were incredibly friendly. 🌟

We were two on a sunny summer evening during the week. Restaurant is on a relaxed alley. Tables inside and under a semitransparent roof. Lovely atmosphere but not too busy or cramped. Prompt and friendly staff. Good food, including vegetarian and vegan, and my salad was excellent.

A unique place inside and a peaceful spot outside! The staff are lovely! We loved having a drink in the little alleyway decorated with plants—it was fantastic. Remember to book...it gets very busy!

I saw this restaurant in a video as a hidden gem (not so hidden anymore online), and I'm so glad I went. The alley "Gebed zonder End" offers plenty of shade, perfect for a sunny day in Amsterdam. The Amsterdam Snack Plate is actually a meal in itself and was delicious. I would have loved to have the burger too, but I just didn't have room 🫣 The young waiter was very friendly and quick. I'll definitely be back on my next visit to Amsterdam 👌😊

One of the best dining experiences in Amsterdam. They have a great selection of diverse food, the staff is very nice and the atmosphere is cozy while unique. It is definitely worth saving up for. Addition: the bitterballen are some of the best in the city.

I’ve been here sometimes before but only for drinks out of dinner hours. Yesterday was my first dinner time with a friend and we loved it very much. Food was delicious, wine was affordable, wine was excellent and was nicely crowded inside and in the terrace as well. We’ll definitely come back soon. Cheese fondue was lekker

The personnel was incredible, nevertheless while I was trough my drink I noticed a flag that made me feel unsafe. To display a flag that represent someone who killed young people at a festival, just like the people who served me, is not ok. It's a nicely decorated restaurant. We arrived a bit late for lunch. The waiter seemed very unmotivated to be friendly. The flower arrangement was pulled away from us because he wanted to prepare the tables for the evening service. The food was okay.

A wonderful discovery in the heart of Amsterdam! We had lunch there and it was excellent. The setting is enchanting and hidden away, far from the hustle and bustle. It's a real change from the fried food and snacks you find everywhere else in the city. Delicious cuisine in a unique atmosphere. I highly recommend it!

Nice experience, we had the Kapitein Zeppos burger and the fish soup. My son eats burgers in many restaurants and this was the best for him so far. I had the fish soup and it was top-notch and fresh. There were still some pieces of fish in the soup and they were amazing. We also had the veal croquette and that was tasty too. It also stayed warm for a long time. Definitely come eat here if you are in Amsterdam.

We were in a very quiet and cozy place 🤩 We didn't eat anything, just drank beer 🍻🍺, but there were more than six different beers on tap. The atmosphere was very romantic and peaceful.

A super friendly bistro with a striking decor. A decent selection of draft beers; the wine list is limited, but the open beers are good. The fondue in bread with refills is recommended. The fish soup was particularly good. The industrial spring rolls, which had a fishy undertone, are not recommended. The Amsterdam Charcu platter was good value for money—but the Gouda was young.
