Klein Kalfje in Buitenveldert-Oost

Even kopje koffie doen draaide uit op een grote teleurstelling. Onbeschofte eigenaar/bedrijfsleider? (kleine man met donker haar) die naar zijn collega heel luid en negatief praat over de aanwezige - en volgens hem allemaal erg lastige- gasten. Een hele foute sfeer, wij komen hier nooit meer.

The food was ok but not in proportion to what you paid for it. Bouncer 10.50, but if you want cheese, bacon or champions, you pay 2.50 extra per item, so 7.50 for 2 strips of bacon and 3/4 slices of champion. Just had to look for it. So 17.50 for a simple bouncer. I can post more comments, but I just won't eat there again.

Wij werden zeer vriendelijk ontvangen op nieuwjaarsdag. Buiten was het koud, regen en storm, binnen heel behaaglijk warm. Goede koffie, chocolade en thee. Een plaats om terug te komen.

I arrived a little later than the rest of the table. The lady who received me showed little enthusiasm and I found the table myself. Service was poor... disorganized and they were unable to solve it themselves when the fore and head were served at the same time and left it to the manager(?). This one hoped that we weren't going to make it too difficult for him... didn't understand this, hope it was a bad choice for a joke. I started pouring it myself because the service was not proactive about this. I had the Wagyu burger...and I found it uninspired...meat was dry and toppings mediocre and not worth the price. In short...for me this is not the place I come back for a snack.

This used to be far better restaurant 10-15 years ago. We had light lunch which was nice but could be improved. Prices are a bit higher from what you get. Probably the only thing that keeps this restaurant alive is the location which is absoulety wonderful.

Ended up here for a late lunch on a beautiful late summer day. Because one of my table companions used to come here regularly and had good memories of it, we decided to moor at this place. He could have preserved those memories better. To begin with, we were received very unfriendly. It's actually with an arrogance that I have you there... I would have preferred to turn around and leave myself. After sitting on the outside terrace (which is a lovely setting by the way), it took a while before someone came to take our order, which also went wrong. No problem can happen. The food is of a reasonable standard, but very overpriced for the quality. Apparently we were not interesting enough anymore because when we had finished eating we sat with empty plates in front of us for a long time. After waiting at least half an hour, we decided that we wanted the bill: all the waiting staff had apparently disappeared, except for 1 young lady behind the bar. (The terrace was filled with about 30 people) I asked for the bill myself. When we left, no one even looked at us. In my opinion, the manager lacks enthusiasm and passion for the beautiful catering profession in which the guest should feel at home, then the rest is secondary. The young guard cannot do much about the fact that they do not work perfectly, but they also lack a good example or guidance. We will drive a little further next time for a warm welcome.

Klein calf is open to the public all year round. I was there recently with my brother, after we visited my father's grave. We had delicious blond beer, goat cheese croquettes. And we ordered bitterballen, although I say my intestines can't handle them well, I still ate a few. Very good quality food and drinks. Recommended. The owner himself comes to inquire with some ladies further on the terrace, what could it be? Super service by a young man at the counter who can also provide text and explanation about the types 🍻 that we can get... great.

Nice location, but the maitre d' was dramatically bad. Took drinks but didn't get through. When we said that he said 'ok'. But did nothing. When I ordered from a colleague of his, it arrived. But the bill said it twice. He was willing to take it off but mumbled that he had delivered it. Really very bizarre. Also a sneer at his (much more service-oriented) colleague. It runs at the location not the service. Shame.

The place is fantastic, especially the terrace on the water. We were there for more than 3.5 hours and had some excellent drinks and food. But what bothers me is that the staff (owner and daughter?) never once make you feel welcome. That's a bit of a shame, so I don't know if I want to come back there. There is plenty of alternative nearby.

Recientemente visitamos los Países Bajos desde el Reino Unido y alquilamos un barco para explorar los canales alrededor de Amsterdam. Durante el crucero, nos encontramos con un problema en el motor y tuvimos que encontrar un amarre para la noche. Después de algunas dificultades, pensamos que estábamos de suerte cuando encontramos un embarcadero en Klein Kalfje. Llamamos con anticipación y nos dijeron que podíamos amarrar por una "tarifa mínima" y preguntamos si íbamos a cenar en el restaurante, lo que hicimos. Nuestro almuerzo fue encantador — la comida era genial, y el personal era amable y eficiente. Desafortunadamente, nuestra experiencia con el propietario / gerente fue bastante diferente. Desde el principio, fue abrupto y antipático, y cuando llegó el momento de discutir la tarifa de amarre, la situación empeoró aún más. Después de gastar 125 € en el almuerzo, ofrecimos 20 € por el amarre (que es generoso, ya que normalmente pagamos £ 10 - £ 15 por noche en viajes similares). El propietario exigió groseramente 50€ y nos dijo que nos quedáramos en un hotel si no nos gustaba. Su comportamiento fue inaceptable, tanto para nosotros como para el técnico que habíamos llamado para el tema del barco. A la mañana siguiente, como no había nadie, dejamos los 20€ en el embarcadero, pero más tarde, recibí una grosera llamada telefónica del propietario exigiendo el resto del dinero, insistiendo en que él estableciera la cantidad, no nosotros. Más tarde hablamos con un capitán de puerto en Weesp, quien nos informó que los amarres deberían cobrarse por la eslora del barco, alrededor de 1 € por metro, que en nuestro caso debería haber sido de 13 €. Estaba horrorizada por cómo nos trataban. La experiencia con el propietario amargó por completo lo que podría haber sido una parada agradable, y no volveremos.

One of the most beautiful places in the photos.. Service plus food was seriously below standard.. cold food.. waitress who didn't understand anything.. gave her own show.. without atmosphere.. indicated and not eaten still had to pay.. one piece of advice is; Have a drink on the terrace for the beautiful surroundings... never eat anything. A terrible waste of your money and your mood... one star is one too many

The place is beautiful the staff very good service the food was average... got a goat cheese salade that was difficult to eat due to big chunks also was a bit dry ...could use more help . The poke ball was small too small . Hope to see improvement in the food area otherwise pleasant location and service.

If the location wasn't so beautiful, they would be bankrupt in a month because of the worst service ever, and that says a lot in the Netherlands. They don't look, don't see which table needs something. They do their best but just have zero manners. Let them explain everything and say when they finally come to the table “yes?” With a sour face. No please, no thank you, no eye contact... and then I still have to start eating:-) Fortunately, a good boy came to serve in the middle of the dinner. That made the evening 🎉

The location is great. Especially if you have walked a few kilometers along the Amsteldijk. Beautiful view. I think the coffee could be of better quality with good quality beans and good foaming on it. Dotting your i's and crossing your t's, so to speak.

Niet te geloven. Wat een onaardige eigenaar. Kille bediening. Behalve een meisje met een lieve lach en zwart haar (niet heel lang meisje). Maar rest een beetje arrogant. Eten ook niet overdreven lekker voor deze prijs. Lokatie top. Maar het wordt echt verpest door de sfeer, de kille houding personeel en onbeschoftheid van de eigenaar. Bijna een brutale man. Dit kan echt niet. We waren erg verbaast.

Prachtige lokatie maar een liefdeloze tent. Erg prijzig voor wat je krijgt. Patjepeeers bestellen makkelijk bubbels maar 9 euro voor een huiswijn is gewoon te veel. Krabsalade was een liefdeloze hap. Twee uitgeschepte schalen suggereren dat de kreeft in je salade liggen. Maar er was maar een minuscule stukje. Na een opmerking daarover krijg ik een lullig schaaltje met wat extra krab op de tafel gegooid met de opmerking”meneer wil wat extra krab”. Tja toen was het plezier en de smaak wel verzuurd ondanks het mooie uitzicht. Kom er nooit meet

Zeer onbeschofte bedrijfsleider zoals hier al eerder is vermeld. We wilden wat drinken maar werden weggestuurd omdat een uur later het diner zou begonnen. We moesten maar aan de tafeltjes aan overkant wat gaan drinken. (zelfde zaak) Dat deden we braaf, maar daar mochten we ook niets drinken. Ik terug naar de bedrijfleider, maar die was niet onder de indruk. Bijzonder onaangenaam allemaal.

We went to eat here after a tip from our daughter, it was supposed to be a fish restaurant. It wasn't. Menu was messy, with meat and fish dishes mixed up. Tables covered with white, cheap paper, cardboard containers for the sauces. Faded glory, as can also be read in other reviews. Ladies toilets urgently need a makeover: painting, etc. And a decent tap, now a broken tap, with water spraying up. Quality of the food was good, but quite expensive. Service disinterested and not focused on the guests. The only plus point as far as we are concerned: the terrace is located on the Amstel. There is a lot to see there on a beautiful summer evening and that was fun with all the rowers and boats passing by. Why a large screen with the Olympic Games at the bar? Isn't that what you come for when you go out to eat? As far as we are concerned: in its current state: not worth repeating.

Pretty place but prob the most unwelcoming service I’ve experienced in Amsterdam.

I found it very cozy and pleasant here. The staff was friendly and patient with my indecision regarding the cake selection. The cake was excellent - the coffee was good. Would love to come again.

Ik ben hier laatst met een groep vrienden geweest en het was echt een fantastische dag. We konden op een groot scherm naar het Nederlands elftal kijken waardoor het erg gezellig was. De bediening was ook top, vooral de jongen die achter de bar stond. Hij maakte erg lekkere cocktails voor ons. Al met al een hele leuke plek om een keer wat te eten of drinken.

Heerlijke zeetong gegeten! Menu had lekkere gerechten en het uitzicht op het water was top! De bediening was leuk en enthousiast. Ik kom zeker terug 🤩

Geweldige plek met geweldige service. Eigenaar is heel aanwezig met geweldige verhalen over het verleden. Daarnaast lijkt het alsof al het personeel modellen zijn. Zeker een aanrader!!!

Heerlijk geluncht met 4 personen. De Eggs benedict en de sliptong zijn aan te raden. Ook heeft het een goed uitzicht langs de Amstel. Echt een aanrader!

Ik las net een beoordeling en er stond ; vergane glorie, en dat voelde ik toen ik binnen stapte( en de jonge dame niet echt vrolijk keek) aan het eens zo mooie terras/veranda aan het water. Papieren tafelkleedjes die je bij de chinees op tafel ziet , de tafelkleden eronder zijn smoezelig, bij ons met dieren haren.... De bediening vond zichzelf erg interessant, helemaal de kelner met geverfde haren. Heel luid praten met zijn collega's en toen hij met een gast sprak stopte hij nog een broodje in zijn mond ;( We waren huiverig voor de toch al dure broodjes. Gelukkig hebben goed gegeten. Maar mijn advies aan de eigenaar , ga eens met een kritische blik door de zaak en het terras aan de straat, een andere gast zag ik nog een stuk hout van de omheining terug duwen. Haha Echt heel jammer dat deze zaak er nu zo uit ziet

Just had a drink. You saw that the season has not started here yet. It was very messy inside, but they have a great covered terrace outside along the water. The staff is very friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back again.

Food were below average. We had club sandwich, would not recommend it. The service is inattentive. We asked for something, the waiter said he would get it for us but simply forgot about it.

Despite a reservation for a late lunch, we did not get further than the entrance to the restaurant where no one from the service was to be found. A cat was busy eating a mouse. Then tried to get a table on the other side. Apparently it was too much trouble. Service too busy with themselves, etc. Moreover, the entire tent looks unkempt and without love. Never again.

Klein calfje is a unique place with a terrace on the Amstel. We had a delicious meal and we were well served. Only the prices are on the high side

After asking for service three times, the manager came to inform us that they were closing (1:30 p.m.). We could still get a coffee... The arrogance of this place.

A bit of a shame that the service offered us lukewarm beer, but we still got cold. And the drops on the window really ruined our one year anniversary celebration 🤷‍♂️and we couldn't find Brat Pitt 🤷‍♂️

Had a late lunch. Ordered the Riche Salad which was amazing, light and really good seafood. Great to sit and enjoy the river on a nice summer day. Staff was helpful and professional.

The view from the restaurant is very nice, we ordered two club sandwiches and two beers. The sandwich was delicious and is quite large, it comes with potatoes. As for prices, we spent 46.60 + tip, we thought the price was adequate for the quality of the food. I highly recommend it.

Takes 1 and half hour before they serve a family of 7 people. I understand we are a lot and have 3 kids. But food is not much for me to be full

Following in the footsteps of Rembrandt himself, this picturesque cafe along the Amstel River has good food, good service, and an amazing pastoral setting. Without a reservation, we were still seated immediately and ordered drinks. I enjoyed the Poke’ bowl with salmon, with the others went with Wagyu beef burger. The fries are good, and not greasy. Sure, I would go back.

Unfortunately not what it used to be. Food very tasty, but service leaves much to be desired. Simple things like taking menus with you after taking an order, checking in regularly, supplying the right cutlery with the right dish. Collect plates at the same time instead of while people are still eating. And as mentioned earlier, old, dirty toilets that were not cleaned during the evening. The same applies to the jetty that you look out on, which needs to be cleaned/maintained. It's a shame about the beautiful location, but it wasn't the food!

Lovely place on the Amstel. For lunch, expect a delicious risotto, eggs benedict with salmon or another delicious dish. Nice friendly service. It is a bit pricey here and there, but you also get something tasty for it.

Scenic restaurant on the river with good food- I had the wagyu burger and my partner had the steak; both were delicious especially the chips. Friendly and accomodating staff. Also they had a pet cat wandering round which was super cute !

I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant after experiences with other restaurants in the Amstelveen area. Great spot by the river to relax and watch the world go by. Service was good and the food was great. I was part of a large group, and everyone enjoyed their food. The owner and staff put in a lot of effort to ensure we had a great experience.

Jammer dat er geen havermelk of soya is… dus alleen koemelk. Tegenwoordig zijn er meerdere mensen die vegan zijn, toch?

De serre aan het water is echt een aanrader! We waren met een grote groep dus moesten even op ons eten wachten. Ik had het gepocheerd eitje op een broodje. Voor de prijs was het wel lekker maar een beetje weinig.

Personeel zag er niet netjes uit in één of andere joggingbroek met sloffen je zag miet dat ze daar werkten eten mwa weinig voor veel geld tournedos 150 gram voor 31,-euro dus nee ik zal er niet meer terug komen

Goed personeel en de porties zijn goed en mooi opgemaakt
