Ko Chang Thai restaurant in Jordaan

The food is not consistent. This place has gone down hill recently - our 2nd visit was horrible. The chicken was chewy and there was not enough rice. Looked nothing like the pictures. Also Only one toilet and the other one has no lock… if this is how they keep the customer toilets I can only imagine how gross the kitchen is !

My friend and I were really looking forward to eating here, especially because the restaurant had been recommended to us. We had called in advance to reserve a table, but when we arrived, it turned out that no table had been reserved for us at all. That was an immediate setback. We ordered our food, and to our surprise it was on the table within 5 minutes – way too fast to be freshly prepared. I ordered the yellow pineapple curry with chicken. I only got two small pieces of pineapple, nothing else but potatoes and extremely tough chicken. Everything was cold and it seemed like it had been ready for a while. My friend ordered the beef wok, but he didn't even get his noodles. His dish was also cold, tough and completely tasteless – it looked nothing like a real stir-fry meal. We also received far too little rice for two people. It felt like we got leftovers and not even the full dish we paid for. While eating, someone from the staff asked if everything was OK, but we felt uncomfortable saying honestly that we thought it was bad, so we said it was good - that was our mistake. Later we called to make a complaint, but then we were only told that we had to email. It didn't feel like they were taking it seriously. What made it even more frustrating is that this place was recommended to us by someone older who had had the exact same dishes, but at theirs it looked completely different – ​​and much better. As if they received special treatment and we were just served something simple. We went home disappointed, hungry and feeling like we had been ripped off. In any case, we will not be back and certainly do not recommend this restaurant.

After 9 years in Amsterdam and it's still my fav Thai restaurant. Their red curry with coconut and duck is always my fav. The owners are super friendly as well and always make me feel welcome when I'm back.

Great restaurant. Nice people, perfect Massaman, great Thai atmosphere. Definitely come back here again! Came back two months later and ordered Massan again...it was authentic again and still super tasty...highly recommended.

The first time I came here it was okay and staff was nice. Today I went with my friend and we only had drinks and a soup, and we were catching up discussing and the staff, especially the tall Dutch man, was very rude. I did not even finish my tea, about over 30 minutes after we came in, and he told us “ I m gonna need this table” for us to leave then he sent another waiter to send us the bill. This is not only not good service but it is also rude and inconsiderate and not even decent behaviour. I would not recommend to anyone I care about to come here.

This is not original Thai food , this is something between Asia and European cuisine but not Thai at all , very small plates and out of the taste that offer the Thai cuisine, there is also a lot of black flies on our table which usually coming from the drainage , the worst Thai food on my life! The only Thai original was the Chang beer

Worst Thai food out of 100 places we have been. 2 months later, we are still telling people about the poorly prepared food and the insolent and insulting man who replied to our honest review. If you decide to roll the dice and eat at koh chang, be prepared to be insulted if you are honest about their food.

Ordered pad see ew and it was overly salty (and we've never seen this dish made with skinny noodles). Spring roll filling was tasty. A bit expensive too. Liked the rice crackers as an appetizer. Edit after owner reply: took the remainder home because we're not wasteful. The waiter did not care to ask how everything was, he was preoccupied with conversing with native speakers. I don't know what forgoing drinks and how many dishes we ordered has to do with anything.

start with the food and the atmosphere, good, in fact, fantastic one of the best Thai food I had for a while. Worth to have a try. However, the service, I am not sure are the waiters not comfortable in speaking English but we do felt being left out, didn’t ask how’s the food and stuff but they are really passionate in chatting with other customer

Fine, but a bit pricey for what you get. Fine if you pay 3 euros+ for a soft drink, but then you get a 200ml bottle, which I don't think is proportional. Furthermore, the fish sauce that you get on the table was not tasty, as I would expect from a Thai restaurant. That's why I don't come more often, because there are better Thai options in Amsterdam than this one.

From the moment we walked in to Ko Chang’s we were made to feel welcome. Our server was helpful and suggested dishes that would suit both our tastes. She was spot on. Both dishes were excellent and a good size to share for two. We really enjoyed our dinner and highly recommend Ko Chang for the service and food.

Leuk klein sfeervol Thais restaurant in de Jordaan. De kaart is beperkt maar de kwaliteit van de gerechten is uitstekend. Wat ons betreft een aanrader..

great guy, and tall swinging through this place like a ballerina. food was great, veggies with a bite, rice was good, the desserts underwhelming no love or passion from the chef there. decent vodka pours, ginger tea could have hotter water. noisy, but then hey what to expect at westerstraat hipster area on a Saturday, happy to have a seat. And chef, thank you so much to have music of at 8 remembering the fallen... dodenherdenking. we will be back for sure!

Every now and then you find a tent like this. Perfect food in a casual atmosphere with great service. Very short, it doesn't get any better than this!

I visited Ko Chang with my brother who was visiting from overseas. My brother is vegan so sometimes struggles to find food matching his dietary needs while travelling. The man who I assume is the owner or manager could not have been more accommodating, putting together 2 delicious dishes that my brother could eat. He LOVED it. So much so we came back a few nights later for another takeaway. The man remembered us and the kitchen put together 2 more (different) but equally delicious meals for us. Such incredibly kind service, we really appreciated it. Thank you so much! Will be back.

Best Thai food outside of Thailand. Great atmosphere!

I never thought I would say this but I found exactly the same flavors as when I was in Thailand and like in the land of smiles, watch out for the spices. A great atmosphere, very friendly staff and hearty dishes. Thank you for this moment which brought back beautiful memories.

We love it! We have been traveling in Europe over a week by the time we arrived at Amsterdam. The simple fact of eating hot rice was much comforting and appreciated. Besides, the flavors were rich and right there. The place had authentic Asian feel, with the big Buddha and small lanterns. Waiter was friendly and helpful. It was a nice meal.

Certainly one of the best tai restaurants I have ever tried! A very well-stocked plate (which I couldn't finish, thanks to my darling for finishing it for me!) With a warm atmosphere and a very sunny manager! We love !

The place is small so make sure you do a reservation. Food is really good and flavorful, portions are very big so if you go with a larger group, I highly recommend to ask for a few dishes to share.

The weekend before Christmas we had a super tasty and cozy meal here (twice even 😂). Super nice atmosphere, delicious dishes.

I ordered pad see ew for delivery. It arrived pretty quickly and was perfectly edible. The portion was pretty big. But the dish was just not authentic: it didn't use Chinese broccoli, it had random extra ingredients like carrot and onion and it arguably used the wrong kind of noodle. Just Google 'ผัดซีอิ๊ว' and compare it yourself.

Al jaren ons favoriete Thaise restaurant. Het restaurant is heel knus. Veel gerechten geprobeerd en alles is altijd heerlijk.

Вкусный ресторан, но очень маленький и тесный. Много народу, шумно, душно, все сидят на голове друг у друга. Не подходит для романтического свидания, но отлично сходить с подругой или другом.

I rarely leave reviews but felt I really had to with this one. Service in the Netherlands/Amsterdam is usually awful, but the service my friend and I received was brilliant. The woman server was so attentive, happy, friendly and very helpful when I mentioned I was vegan. So refreshing to see there are some places with good service that treat their customers well. Will be returning for sure.

Really great Thai restaurant, very nice owners and delicious food. The Tom Yum soup is especially good and so is the Red Curry with Coconut milk. Portion sizes also very generous.

Seriously good food at a reasonable price. Sitting outside this restaurant on a nice sunny summers day was a great experience and the food was really good. The portions were really big too. Get the Thai fish cakes.
