Authentic Thai food outside the country, we were traveling for the first time in the city and passing in front of the place I saw 2 people eating on its small terrace, immediately the look and smell of the food transported me to my last visit to Thailand and the rest of the trip we only wanted to eat there. Excellent food, large portions, very fast service, good price. If I lived in the city I would eat there every day.

I always get Thai food everywhere and nowhere, this time at Bird, waited 20 minutes or so for takeaway, no problem, but I really don't think it was a success. I don't hate it, but I'm not a fan of it either. The portion is quite large, so that's nice. The taste itself is also nice, but I didn't think it was great or anything, just normal, But I also had a hair because of my curry, I never understood that when people had that they thought it was such a big deal, until I now had it myself, honestly it immediately feels really dirty to eat. I wasn't crazy about the quality of the chicken either, it was a lot of messy pieces, which I don't like and even a piece with a piece of muscle on it, I find that unappetizing. Despite the other very positive reviews, I won't be back, but maybe I was just unlucky with my portion, who knows.

Today was the third time in a row that things went wrong with takeaway food. We ordered Two Chicken with Cashew Nuts with Fried Rice instead of plain white rice. We should have gotten two plastic containers with Chicken with Cashew Nuts and two containers with Fried Rice, four in total. What we got was four containers: one container with Chicken with Cashew Nuts, one container with plain Rice and two containers with Fried Rice (without meat). So, just one star for the meal that is by far not a meal for two (a bit dry). This was the last time we went there.

Very disappointing, years ago it was one of my favorite restaurants. Now the quality is really bad. It seems like you are collecting old rice from leftovers in a container. Way too expensive and not tasty at all. Very unfortunate

This place offers great food and quick service. I have been on a hunt for the best red curry in the city and so far this is the spot to go to. Worth it- even if they did raise their prices recently.

My favorite Thai spot in Amsterdam! If I’m ever in city center, this is my go-to place for a delicious meal. It’s very small, around 12 seats or less, and there’s usually a wait. Well worth it though ! I always get the chicken ka prau. It’s served with a nice dish of rice, and it comes piping hot in these deep bowls. It’s so delicious, I scoop it with my spoon and drink up the sauce at the end. Definitely would recommend ! So it used to be the same owners as Bird Thai, but they’ve since separated. Honestly I prefer this over bird Thai any day. There’s something about smelling the flavors of the Thai kitchen, and hearing the sizzles of the wok that feels so authentic.

This small restaurant has a unique charm. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy, making it a perfect place to enjoy a delicious meal. The staff is not only friendly and warm, but also remarkably agile, especially with the limited space in which they work. The food is, as always, of excellent quality and tastes delicious. I did notice that the portions have gotten a bit smaller, but that seems to be the case everywhere these days.

It's a very popular thai restaurant almost need to queue up at anytime during their opening hours, maybe except 12:00-12:30, food is authentic and it big portions. Recommend their Pad Thai and Green Curry, it's really tasty, it's just exactly what you'll get in Thailand.

My go to Thai spot anytime I’m in Amsterdam! The long line is worth it. This is coming from a foodie global nomad who flies 5-7x a week and eats out everyday , usually at a new place in a different city. A little bit about me . Been to Thailand a little over a dozen times and this spot is definitely authentic! Great portion sizes too! Super friendly staff

This quaint little hole in the wall is perfect for a quick meal. The menu is quite extensive and clearly indicates the heat level of the different soups. The restaurant itself is very small and had one of three tables being used by the staff as an extension to the kitchen. Everything is crammed into this tiny little space which makes for a unique experience. Overall a great place to stop for something quick to eat and just try your luck for a space as there are very few tables inside.

This is my second time here. Always fed up. I wasn't disappointed in the taste again 👌

Ooh my my my!During the lockdown my friend introduced me to Thai food from this "snack bar". Few Thai restaurants or snack bars can match this. He was already addicted, but now we are both addicted. The herbs/spices, everything is very well coordinated and also the speed of cooking. In addition, the price is very reasonable for the delicious food that you are served. The kitchen has been so small/tight for years and yet the tastiest dishes come out of it. I don't imitate them. 5 deserved big stars! Please stay like this!

La peor experiencia de Amsterdam. Éramos 3 madres y 5 preadolescentes y niños. El lugar estaba muy sucio, había una gran falta de higiene... Nos dejaron comer con basura en la mesa porque no estaban dispuestos a quitárnosla. Fueron malos tanto con los niños como con las mamás: se burlaron de nuestro acento italiano en todo momento de nuestro hablar, el jefe nos dijo “eres italiano, conozco tu estilo, no quieres pagar” Todos estábamos sorprendidos por la grosería.

You can wait a long time for a seat, but the food is really delicious! We had pad Thai twice and it was the best ever. Also well priced by Amsterdam standards. It doesn't take long before you get it either.

One of the most authentic Thai foods I've had outside of Thailand. We ordered a green curry & chicken pad thai, both were extremely delicious. The portions are also big. The vibe of the restaurant is very much like the Thai street side restaurants. There's not much space, it's a small restaurant. So you'll also have to wait for 15-20 minutes on average. It's ideal for takeaway. The staff is nice and jolly. You can clearly see that they enjoy what they do. The strange part is that they don't have a washroom here. So we had to go to the nearby McDonald's to pay & pee.

The guy at the entrance was super rude to me, I paid and when I got home there was hair in the food, disgusting, it made me want to vomit. They don't use hygiene standards, I had to go back. That place is horrible. No one uses protection to avoid getting hair in the food.

In China Town we have never seen so many people queuing at a restaurant than at Bird. This was our signal to take the time to join us! Inside it is cramped to sit at the table with sometimes other people as well. But this only makes the experience more fun. As a tourist you will meet some locals with great addresses and advice! The food comes to the table quickly. The service is very friendly. Finally, the food: indescribably delicious! We will definitely come back here if we come to Amsterdam again!

Waited about 10 mins on a busy Friday night which was great. They were busy but efficient. It was 4 of us and 2 of us ordered Thai noodle soup. One with pork and one with seafood. When the food came, both soups were beef noodle soup. The restaurant was busy so we opted to just eat the beef noodle soup. No apology or compensation. Lady didn’t seem to care. Beef was bland, and overcooked. Chewy. When it was time to pay for the bill, it came to €65 which was reasonable for 4 people. We paid €70 cash as they take cash only. The guy who gave us our bill took our cash but never gave us the €5 change. He closed the till and walked away. If you’re desperate to eat here, highly recommend takeaway so you don’t have to deal with the poor customer service.

Delicious thai food in Amsterdam. We were hungry and looking for something to eat in the area and this restaurant had food which look very appealling. We saw som people eating outside and their food smelet and looked very good. We had to wait 20 minutes to be sitted as the place is quite small. The food was tasty and it was ready fast. We all took red curry that comes with rice. Their praces are ok, similar to other places in the area.

Have been going there many times for amazing food and nice vibes but he decided he wanted to started yelling how to order and that it is “his place and his rules” in a rude manner. Hope you read this my man and treat your “dutch” regulars with more respect. Just like i do with you and your staff. Be a bit less arrogant to your clients

The ambience is really cool and has that snack shop vibe. Service is fast and friendly, but didn't notice half our order didn't arrive, when we told them they apologized, brought one item but forgot the other but put everything on the bill! I had the pad thai jay, which cost 14,50. As a real pad thai was 19€. At their restaurant across the street it was 22€! That's just outrageously expensive for pad thai! In my small, university hometown, at a fancy Thai restaurant, you get very good pad thai for 26€ and it's the joke of the town that it's this ridiculously expensive for fried noodles with prawns. Amsterdam is next level. This street shop sells pad thai almost as expensive if you eat the exact same meal in the restaurant, and it's not even good. The pad thai jay was very sweet, almost sugary. No umami, no sesame, no spring onion or crunchy veggies. Just sweet, soggy noodles with tofu and one forlorn piece of spring onion. My partner had fried rice with prawns that also was very sweet and tasted of nothing. The spring rolls were just cheap store bought, 8 pieces for about 6,50€. And we were charged for a satay we never received. Plus they really tried to hurry us from the shop after we finished our last bite. The plates were cleared immediately, the table wiped and the bill presented. Only two people were waiting to be seated, there was practically no line. But we were still hurried out. Also they create an artificially long line as to make the shop seem desirable. Take away and sit down patrons wait in the same, very long (on the weekends) line.

Terrible. I told the waitress no salt/low salt and the chef probable got upset and my Penang curry chicken bowel is saltier than sea water. The chicken white pepper garlic dish was just as bad. There was no misunderstanding as I spelled it out no or low S-A-L-t! Will I be back? What you say?

There is often a line, but it’s worth a small wait. Also note the place inside is tiny and you won’t have much room. Food always come quick and it’s always tasty.

The food is great but they should add a big piece of paper at the entrance that they don't accept American Express cards, since the one they have is small and old so you don't pay attention to it. It is not clear at all. I had to go outside to exchange some money, and the situation was very annoying. It would be easier to just say that they only accept cash since they don't accept MasterCard, visa, AmEx and more.

Food limp and tasteless.. staff was cold/rude. We were waiting for a table outside. When we got up to sit there we were stopped. Why? Because customers from outside who just arrived got our table. Disappointing

The food was typical for Thai. We had the red curry and garlic squid. The curry was standard but the squid was disgusting. We only ended up eating the curry and intended on sending the squid back but never got checked up on the entire time. The service was terrible. Ive see workers at McDonald's be more attentive. They literally drop the food off and never show up again. After waving the server down for the check I asked her to send the plate back because it was no good. When the check came I noticed the squid dish was still attached and inquired why when the dish was sent back. Another guy came out and demanded we pay for the food we ordered and that it was our fault we did not like it. I couldn't believe this man was behaving in this manner. Very rude and disrespectful. We asked if there could be a compromise and he said "well why should I remove the dish. You are the only people that did not like it". Then he said ordering food is like going to kfc. A very poor reference because every fast food chain will either refund you or give you a new meal when a item is not good. The entire interaction was beyond unprofessional and poor in taste. After going back and forth we came to a compromise to pay half the dish, but the man barely wanted to accept that. The dining experience was a nightmare. Save your money! The plain Thai food is not worth the hassle or service. Also they do not accept Visa cards.

One of Amsterdams best restaurants. Great food Value for money and great service too We ate here with my kids. We enjoyed the spring rolls and the red Thai curry with rice and pad Thai. Every thing was perfect. If you want to up the spice ,ask for the chilly condiments, A must visit in Ámsterdam

Food portion was good, reasonably priced. Though it is a really small shop with a few more table seating outside, when the food is delicious, you won’t complain even with having to queue a bit as the aroma coming from the kitchen tantalises your senses while waiting. Though I walked in at an unfortunate time as it started to rain and the outside patrons had to move quickly into the shop which made everyone squeeze and cramp even more, it was all good, staff did their best pleasantly. We were just happy eating spicy, yummy food which was served pretty fast.

At first me n my friend were going to eat inside. But, Because we feel so full and so tiny. We asked the waiter to change our place to outside. This is Mt 1st time experience eat outside while watching a festival in zeedijk. This is so amazing for us. We enjoyed not only the food but also the atmosphere there. Unfortunately they don't have their own signature drinks, like in their restaurant. But it's Okey.

Extraordinarily tasty thai food! We tried 4 dishes so far and we loved all of them. The staff was also accomodating and nice to us and other guests. The only downside is that it’s a little pricey - but given the quality it’s still good value.

They don't take MasterCard and Visa... Only the two most common cards. It was very unpleasant to eat here and only later discover that. To be fair they do have a small sign saying that on the window which I didn't see when I came in, and I'm sure no one else sees it either. Given that Amsterdam is a card-first city, it's a bit weird not to accept the two most common credit cards in the world. I had a fish soup which was very basic. When their card machine didn't accept my MasterCard, the woman there asked me to leave an ID while I go looking for an ATM, which obviously I refused to do. The way she was so quick to demand that makes me think it happens quite often there... Eventually I had to find an ATM so they can get cash while pretending to accept credit cards. I should have chosen another place to eat lunch at.

Chicken Cashewnut and Pad Thai an absolute dream. Very tasty, very fresh. The atmosphere is great for street food in Thailand, but this is about the food itself. We spontaneously got one of the three tables outside. But we were then able to observe how little by little more and more people had the same idea and therefore had to wait longer. To go is also possible and well used. We would come again :)

I visited on the recommendation that this is the best Thai food outside of Thailand. The dishes we enjoyed were packed with perfectly balanced flavour and surely did not disappoint! The spring rolls were exceptional, the pad Thai was delicious, and the green curry had a wonderful (but not overwhelming) kick of heat to it. Unfortunately, I don’t have the same enthusiasm about the service but the food on its own makes this spot worth a visit!

The food was really delicious until I got stomach cramps shortly afterwards. I then spent the night over the toilet bowl. Since it was my only meal that day, it could only have been the food (I suspect the shrimp). NEVER AGAIN!

This is such a hidden gem that we stumbled upon in Amsterdam -from the outside it appears rather underwhelming however the food is incredible - super fresh, tasty, delicious and great sized portions... we loved it so much we ate there two days in a row.... highly recommend you check it out we loved it

This used to be the best place to get Thai food, but I’m afraid places like Tid Din are proving heavy competition. This place is more for takeout than for sitting in, but -if you get the chance- it is fun to sit outside and watch people passing by while you eat. We had Laab Nua and the Bird special, which both came in big portions. The Laab could use some more mint and less sauce, but both dishes were nice. Not at all that spicy, so we asked for some chillies and received a wonderful assortment of them. All in all, this is a staple Thai place in Amsterdam worth checking out. However, it is not number one for me anymore with the better options popping up…

This place has lines down the block for a reason. My husband and I arrived in Amsterdam on a rainy October day and I was in desperate need for some soup and noodles to hopefully cure a sickness I was fighting, we ordered to go and brought it back to our hostel. I’m not lying when I say over the next 6 days we were in town we ate here four times. The tom kha soup truly incredible, it was actual magic and a cure to stuffy noses. They prefer cash payment and we never ate in the restaurant hence the 3 stars for atmosphere. Since returning home I have recommended this place more than twice to travellers abroad. I cannot wait to eat here again on my next trip to Amsterdam

We had a soup and an entree and it was the best Thai food we’ve had in Europe! Bursting with flavor while not being too spicy, gigantic portions and very polite waiters. Would come again if in town.

Delicious food, small place so sometimes need to queue outside to wait for a seat. Mains come with rice, pretty huge serve. Food is very tasty and there are many options to choose from, including vegan/vegetarian. Service was ok.

Our local friend took us to this phenomenal little spot along Zeedjik in the Red Light District. A rather brusque yet affable staff of family members prepares incredibly flavorful food served quickly and simply. The Paneng curry was a particular hit!

Terrible food, tough squid The taste is not like in Thailand at all. The owner of the shop is not friendly, the shop is cramped, in short, there is nothing good at all. It's a waste of money.

Service was kind and fast. Interior was cramped but relaxing. But the food tasted like "netherlands-thai" all the flavors were super dialed down. We had pad gra paow but there wasn't a strong basil flavor. We also had shrimp tom yum, but it was so mild! Not spicy or sour really. Also had tofu and chicken satay...with a very sweet plum/peanut sauce I wasn't a fan of. I missed the strong flavours of Thailand like fish sauce, lemon grass, basil, etc. but I guess they have to tailor to the local tongue.

This is one of the best Thai eateries that I have tried. Was in AMS for 7 nights, we had 6 dinners there. A very cramped and tight seating, which is expected as it was meant to be a snack bar. If you want comfort, head to their fancy restaurant diagonally opposite on the same street. Highly recommended and not to be missed!

An absolute gem in the chaos of Amsterdam! And it was so busy! Nevertheless the top of the top lovely ladies that worked there helped me and my dad in seconds. Even amidst the delivery people coming and going and the build up line everyone was helped according to who comes first. It was very nicely organised. And let me tell you, the coconut shrimp soup was so deep in taste. It was absolutely worth and even cheap especially considering we were in the Center! And not only we enjoyed the food, but the guests next to us were clearly scraping their dish clean. It made sense why such a small place was so busy. Top food, top vibe, top employees!!! Highly recommended 👌
