Gezellig restaurant met vriendelijke bediening, maar helaas moeten wij ons aansluiten bij alle (!) kritiek over de Zwitserse kaasfondue/papje en het zielige zure hapje eekhoorntjesbrood. Maar het meest triest is dat er dus met al die eerdere kritiek niets wordt gedaan...heel jammer!

Helaas een zeer teleurstellende ervaring. We hebben hier met vier personen gegeten, en mijn bestelling van gamba’s was ronduit slecht. Er zaten enkele gamba’s tussen die alleen uit een lege staart bestonden. Nadat ik dit aangaf, werd er snel een nieuw bordje gebracht, wat op zich een nette reactie was. Helaas waren deze gamba’s nog rauw en hadden ze een vreemde smaak. Dit was veruit de slechtste maaltijd die ik ooit heb gehad. Voor mij is dit restaurant geen tweede bezoek waard.

Hoofdgerecht cheeseburger was een wit broodje met wat stukjes vlees, een blaadje sla en een klein beetje honing-mosterd saus. Geen kaas, geen ui geen pepertje zoals wel op de menukaart stond. Het was veel meer brood dan vulling. En het beetje vlees wat er op zat was nog lauw ook en ook flauw van smaak. Patat kleefde aan elkaar en klein bakje coleslaw was zuur. En dat voor €24,50. Bij de MacDonalds is je burgermenu nog uitgebreider! Heel slecht. Bavette was taai. Bediening was wel vriendelijk maar niet alert. Alles duurde erg lang. Geen aanrader. Wij gaan in ieder geval nooit meer terug.

Tegenvaller. Het restaurant ziet er knus uit en de bediening was allervriendelijkst maar als het eten niet goed is dan houdt het op. De bavette was klein en daarbij een minibakje coleslaw en een paar frietjes. Ik had me enorm verheugd op kaasfondue. Kaasfondue in Gouda moet goed gaan zou je denken. Nope. Ik kreeg een bakje lauwe bloempap met vaag een kaassmaak. De structuur was melig, meer bloem dan iets anders. Ook na nog een keer opwarmen in de keuken niet lekker. Het brood erbij was raar zoetig en de aardappeltjes half rauw en ijskoud. Het supplement eekhoorntjesbrood voor €4,50 was een mayonaiseschaaltje met 3 zurige stukjes paddenstoel in een zurig drabje. Echt heel erg jammer.

Cheese fondue done. The normal one is a bit boring, the one with garden herbs is tasty. You get enough. Seasonal vegetables are recommended. Outside of cheese fondue is not recommended, candles went out every time. It also took a very long time before someone came to put the candles back on, so it was moved inside. The person who served our table was very inexperienced and knew little about the menu. Had to ask everything, even simple things.

Dear visitors of the Koeien restaurant. A really nice ambience that magnetically attracts people from the street. A strong and unpleasant experience at the same time. The girls who serve are very pleasant, but it is extremely difficult to order and get the dish you wanted. At first, I thought it was a misunderstanding, but when the confusion happened four times, I realized that my bad intentions were more than futile. The bill was almost double what was expected. I am sorry that this place and tradition do not have an ethical way of treating guests. For the sake of the overall impression and the wish that this place has the service it deserves, I give a modest rating. Good luck.

We hadden verschillende soorten kaasfondue. Alleen die met blauwe kaas was nog enigszins eetbaar. De andere twee, smerig gewoon, heeft niets met kaas te maken, uit een heel goedkoop pak? Jammer want kaasfondue maken (met de goede ingredienten) is juist zo simpel, en dan heerlijk! Met het dessert ging het ook al mis, kreeg het verkeerde geleverd. Zonde van het geld en niet voor herhaling vatbaar!

the waitress asked if i wanted sauce with my steak ...but i didnt know it was extra 4.50 euros ,ok but the sauces were awful the steak was not tasty ,the fries and truffle mayo were tasty but the rest was not. 🤔 Аnd this is not a restaurant level, if you have wine 27 euros and water 7 euros, make the food at the same level 👍🏻 The waiters were friendly, they passed everything on to the kitchen, but the dishes were terrible, the price and quality did not match ... I don't recommend eating here, it's not restaurant level!!! French fries and mayonnaise were tasty, but the meat and sauce were not, and the cabbage was bitter and old.The steak was tough It was our anniversary, it's a shame that we chose you!!!

Had an unexpected meal at KOE&Kaas Gouda and had a delicious meal. The ambiance is cozy, yet spacious. The service at our table was present but not intrusive. The choice of dishes on the menu is well balanced and the staff is well informed about the preparation of the dishes. It was a pleasant and tasty evening, highly recommended for an evening of relaxing enjoyment.

The food here was very mediocre to say the least. The ribeye was super tough and had a lot of tendons in it. When ordering, I was asked what kind of sauce I wanted with my steak. I chose a pepper sauce that was absolutely not tasty and tasted stale as if it came from my grandmother's attic. But what was most disappointing about this was that they were charged €4.5 extra for this stale sauce!!! In addition, there was hardly any response to my comment that the meat was tough and the sauces were not tasty. That means I can't give more than 2 stars for the service.

The food is decent and the place is very nice. It was quite busy when we arrived. I didn't make a reservation, so the staff told us we could only have a table 90 minutes, which was fine for us. Only thing: we had to wait very long for our orders to arrive. Our dessert didn't make it on time.

Cozy atmosphere and good service. The cheese fondue itself was also very tasty. However, the snacks next to it were really very mediocre. Dry potatoes, soft tomatoes, cucumbers and carrot. They looked like they were from the week before. The meat spot was also not a great success, not for us a second time. That's a shame because the cheese fondue itself was really tasty and we were allowed to refill it again.

Had a delicious meal last night during Gouda's evening of lights. A three-course menu was prescribed with tasty dishes, very tasty and good! There was a downside... the pepper mill had an extra taste, it was quite moldy, which was of course reported to the service. Hopefully the rest of the pepper mills will also be checked preventively to avoid further disappointment...

Had dinner here for the first time with friends on Saturday evening. Lady at the table, super friendly and hospitable. Cocktails less tasty, we had an amaretto sour but little sour and a difference in quantity in the glass compared to our table companions. Salmon carpaccio had little taste, wasabi dressing/mayo tasted minimal. Cheese fondue as a starter was delicious. Hand-beaten carpaccio in combination with steak tartare was really work, a lot of sinews in the meat and steak tartare did not taste good unfortunately. Unfortunately, the summer trifle for dessert did not make up for it. We had a table near the stairs at the top, and at the front of De Zalm there was a wedding and the guests had to pass by our table the entire evening and it was very restless and noisy. Apparently it had to do with a renovation, but it gave us a different spot. Many points for improvement, hopefully you will benefit from this.

Nice restaurant with attractive decor. There is plenty to choose from on the menu. I ordered a normal burger and my girlfriend the veggie burger. When we received the food, we noticed that the 'vegetarian' burger was red on the inside, so it was absolutely real meat. We had to report it twice before anything was done with it. Eventually the chef came to apologize, which we thought was very nice, but of course a mistake can happen. It's a shame that we had to eat separately because of this. My burger was fine and the dessert was also okay but not special.

Service was not good, we had to wait a long time. The worst thing for me was that, even after specifically asking if they could take the empty glasses with them, empty glasses were left on the table all evening long. They also didn't come often enough to ask if we wanted new drinks, you would think that the margins would be largest on the drinks. So with 10 people at one table you would walk by more often. Fortunately the service was polite and only the cheese fondue looked sad, but otherwise I would have left a one star.

After a nice "tour" through Gouda it was time for some food. Cows and Cheese sounded like a failed sitcom, but we still decided to have a bite here. Butterfish and salmon was the course of the day. The butterfish was perfectly prepared and the garnish was also excellent. The salmon was a little overcooked and the food could have been a little warmer, the same for the fries. That costs a big star. The service was correct and the price quality was ok. €30,- approximately per person with a drink.

Far too meager portion of fries and salad with the dish. Salad was spoiled and smelled sour. reported to the waiter several times and asked if he wanted to smell it. unfortunately the answer was "the meat was good" and was laughed at. Bad service, I could have gotten sick. So too expensive for what you get and your complaint is ignored. No more Cows and Cheese for me. Too bad with a little more fries and a little more salad and take your customers seriously when they complain and solve that with a free cup of coffee (how much does that cost to purchase) I would have really come back but not now.

The vegetarian burger and the steak were quite good, but the pepper sauce with it wasn't good (I'm not entirely sure if it was good either, it gave me a stomach ache) and the coleslaw also tasted like strawberry yogurt (maybe that's how it's supposed to be, I didn't think it was that great). In my opinion it's also overly expensive. The staff was super friendly and it was comfortable to sit too.

My girlfriend took me out for dinner as a birthday present, WHAT A TURN OFF!! We are/were regular customers at Cow Cheese. Evening starts with: * My girlfriend asked for something nice to do with dinner for my birthday (balloon or candle) as a surprise, but we really got NOTHING at all. Really NOTHING! * My partner's main course: carpaccio with tartare was very bad! The carpaccio was impossible to chew! (I also tasted it) I just had to spit it out (terrible). So not eaten. Reported this to the waitress (received minimal response), reported it to the manager (did NOTHING at all) no compensation, no sorry NOTHING. (only arrogance in response and was further ignored!). Paid 124 euros and couldn't eat half of it. In short: rude and customer unfriendly. Cows and cheese: you have chased away and lost good regular customers. Sorry but they are not worth my money anymore!!!!!

The food was average, the prices are really on the high end because of some drinks and some extras like sauces. We spent almost 50 eur per person, had an entry dish sharing for 4, each of us had a main dish and then 2 deserts to share for all of us. Then, the place claims to be opened till 23:00, but they made the last drinks round about 22, and brought us a receipt at 22:15, even though we didn’t ask for it yet. Maybe there is a mistake and they are opened till 22? Not clear. The atmosphere was nevertheless nice, the place is close to the main square and is pretty, and the stuff was very friendly and pleasant.

Vrijdagavond het bedrijfsuitje van mijn vriend zijn bedrijf gehad het slechtste wat we ooit hebben mee gemaakt. Bij binnenkomst was er een raam kapot (we zaten boven) we wilde het dicht doen we melde dit toen zei de serveerster ja dat is al bekend maar van hogerop pakken ze het niet op … ze bood ons ook geen andere plek aan… Toen kwam het voorgerecht er waren er twee met gefrituurde geitenkaas dit leek in geen enkel geval op geitenkaas dus dit hebben we kenbaar gemaakt ik moet zeggen de jongeman tegen wie we dit zeiden heeft er alles aan gedaan en gaf zelf ook toe dat het Totaal niet op geitenkaas leek. De twee voorgerechten zijn van de rekening gehaald dat was heel fijn 😊 Toen kwam het hoofdgerecht veel teveel geld voor wat je kreeg 1 iemand had een ossenhaas voor 37,50 en wat kreeg je een heel klein stukje vlees lachwekkend gewoon met nog een kleiner zakje patat schandalig voor dat geld … Dit geld ook voor de rest van de stukken vlees veel te veel geld voor veel te weinig en dan moet je de saus ook nog apart betalen 😂…. En toen het nagerecht twee hadden een kaasplankje met zoveel kaas erop dat was echt bizar en dat voor 1 persoon. De ambiance is ook vies Boven-en slecht onderhouden ik zeg de bezem door de keuken en het gebouw voor ons in iedergeval nooit meer… Ondanks de serveerder die verdient nog wel een pluim voor zijn oplossingen

Staff was superbusy and hard to catch. They did their best, though. It just seemed like they were understaffed. Two of us chose the cheesefondue and one of us a hamburger. The mains were wonderful. However we arrived at 18.45 and by 19.20 we were only served drinks and hadn't gotten to ordering our food, despite already stating we would like to order before we got our drinks. Dessert was a bit of a letdown. The brownie tasted like the chocolate sigarettes we used to get for Sinterklaas as a child. And the caramel sauce was not to my liking Let my friend try it too, she didn't like it either. But perhaps the taste just wasn't for us. Still tipped because the waitresses were working their butt off and the staff in the back probably too. Atmosphere was very nice. Despite the slow pace I would go back for the nice fondue.

Ate here last Saturday with 2 adults and 1 small child. We walked in spontaneously, but that was no problem at all, the host said. We were kindly shown to our table and then the waiting began. We sat for about 15 minutes before we could pass our drinks. (By the way, the only time they came for drinks so I recommend you order a double round). You would expect that you would also receive the card, but that was not the case. We had to wait a while for that too. Fortunately, the starter came quickly, although it was disappointing in terms of taste. Steak blue cheese, with barely any blue cheese. There's a muscle in the carpaccio that you hate and you can't tell me that the chef didn't see it when it was placed. Anyway. Then we sat for a while with the empty plates on the table until a boy, who I don't think was even "supposed" to come to us, came to clear our table with his hands already full. Compliments to him. The supervisor passed us 4 times and could only shout into his microphone that the girl had to set even more tables. But emptying us, no. Main courses (rib-eye & tenderloin) were very tasty. And then the waiting started again. We sat with empty plates on the table for half an hour. Actually, my child was still owed an ice cream (she had a children's menu), but we asked for the bill after 2.5 hours. When I commented that the service really wasn't good and we were still waiting the waitress said "oh okay. Annoying" and that was that. €140 for a lot of annoyance, bad service and a great main course. We will skip this restaurant next time.

Steak was reasonable (could have been more tender), the accompanying fries were reasonable (quantity) and salad was of little value (very small bowl). Dessert was good, as was coffee. In addition to 2 Spa reds, this cost around €50. Still a nice amount.

Tuesday evening we went out for dinner with our 2nd child at this nice restaurant. With Spanish music and a not too high occupancy, this is a very nice restaurant to have a bite to eat with your partner or friends. As a starter we had the trio carpaccio and the tartare (both highly recommended) with bread and tapenade. With the tapenade I recommend using spoons instead of knives, it spreads a bit better. As a main course we shared the truffle cheese fondue and the medium beef tenderloin (both highly recommended!). In terms of price range, this restaurant falls in the middle, towards the high end. But you certainly get something in return, which is really worth it! In addition, served all evening as it should be, by a very friendly lady with glasses and short hair in a ponytail (perhaps recognizable, according to the description).

Very poor quality food for a hugely high price. Paid eighty euros and ended up with a well-done steak with cold "mushroom sauce" that contained no mushrooms. Definitely not recommended to eat here. Oh yes, my pesto carpaccio was literally swimming in half a liter of pesto and was therefore inedible.

Had a delicious cheese fondue here, 3 types to alternate. Gouda is a favorite. Had fries with truffle mayonnaise as a side dish. We assumed that this would be enough for everyone, but it was for 1, max 2 people. And the parmesan was missing. The tasting beforehand was also very tasty. Dessert, the stroopwafel trifle, was a bit boring. Cinnamon roll was a success. Very friendly and quick service and a pleasant atmosphere.

Enjoyable Culinary Experience for Groups - I recently visited this restaurant with a group of nine guests and my experience was very positive. The food was tasty and met the expectations of our party. Despite being generally busy, the atmosphere remained cozy and welcoming. The staff were attentive and efficient, making our dining experience smooth. An added benefit was the ample parking in the area, which made it easy for our party to reach the restaurant. All in all, I can recommend this restaurant to groups looking for a tasty and enjoyable dining experience.

- Food: tomahawk. Really very good for the price. When it arrived at the table it seemed well cooked. Large part tough and just really mediocre in taste. Doesn't look like it was cooked on the charcoal grill. For this money I really expected much, much more. - Service: Forgot to bring drinks up to three times. - Each sauce with the meat is paid separately. - The sandwich in advance was cleverly made into the luxury bread board for €10. After complaining at checkout, we were given two drinks as a gift, which was kind.

Pure rip off for mediocre quality and poor service. We recently went to eat here, and the first thing a waitress came to us was to ask, "Do you want anything else?" As if we had already finished eating. I said ''Well, the menu please'' and I think she was shocked because she hadn't been paying attention and quickly went to get the menus. While presenting the menus she asked if we wanted 'a little bit of bread' in advance and we said ''yes''. She then charged us for 'Bread with spreads Deluxe' which cost almost €10(!)! You don't do that! At least ask which one we want because there was also a simple variant for €6. Then one of us ordered a piece of meat and the waitress asked "what sauce would you like with this?" After which our friend indicated which sauce he wanted, not knowing that you charge €4 extra for a simple sauce on your meat! What restaurant charges that much for a little sauce with your meat, which is normally always included. And me and the other both ordered the cheese fondue. Please note: if you pay 2 people, i.e. 2x €19 = €38(!), you will receive 1 medium-sized pan that is not even half filled with cheese fondue, which you have to share, and 1 dinner plate with some pieces of baguette , mini pieces of cooked carrot, small pieces of cauliflower, a few pieces of potato and 5 snack tomatoes. Which you should also share! You can guess what this cost in purchasing costs for the restaurant, and you can simply pay €38 for this. In short, a complete rip off, poor service and the food just so so. We won't be coming back here again.

Tijdens 1ste kerstdag met de familie hier gegeten. Je zou verwachten dat je toch in een bepaalde kerstsfeer je eten kan nuttigen maar helaas was er op een streng met lichtjes rond de trap, aan helemaal niets te merken dat je een kerstdiner aan het nuttigen was. De patat was koud, het brood rond de hamburgers was klevig en nat en ook de hamburgers en vis waren niet erg warm. Al met al was het de 85 euro per persoon niet waard.

Bediening 2,5 / 5 Wist te vertellen wat de voorgerecht special was, maar het stopte bij de ''hamburgerspecial is, kaas, burger, met vanalles''. Kennis miste. Verder niet heel enthousiast. Drank 4,5 / 5 Min dat het lang duurde, waren de drankjes goed. Voorgerecht 4,5 / 5 Carpaccio classis, goede vleeskwaliteit, niet overdreven veel truffelmayonaise zoals vaak wel wordt gedaan. Zeer tevreden. Hoofdgerecht 2 / 5 Kaasfondue, koud/lauw, smaak was oke. Na mededelen dat het koud was en we daarom wachten tot de kaars m beetje opwarmt, ''ohja, dat kan'' Uiteindelijk andere medewerkster naar keuken gebracht om warm te maken. Kregen hem ietsje warmer terug, maar nogsteeds lauw. Nagerecht 5 / 5 Chocoladefondue, do I need to say more? Overall 3 / 5 Leuke sfeer, goed concept, uitvoering kan beter, hopelijk was dit niet zoals het altijd gaat.

Wat een deceptie 😞😞. Een restaurant wat zichzelf presenteert als gespecialiseerd in vlees en kaas en geen stukje vlees medium kan klaarmaken. Wij hebben als hoofdgerecht de vleesproeverij van drie stukken vlees besteld voor twee personen. € 95,-!! Nou voor dat geld verwacht ik een knap stukje vlees. De eerste keer dat het vlees kwam was het meer dan well done. De bediening zag het gelijk en zei dat ze het opnieuw lieten maken. Ok denk je dan kan gebeuren. De side dishes bleven gewoon op tafel achter. De derde persoon zijn eten bleef ook achter. Vervolgens duurt het ruim een kwartier voor het vlees voor de tweede keer komt. Dit keer had het vlees nog een hartslag zo rood. De hele sfeer aan tafel was weg. We hebben de €230,- betaald en zijn nu onderweg naar de snackbar 🙈🙈🙈

Wat een teleurstelling. Restaurant ziet er leuk uit, dat is fijn omdat je erg lang moet wachten. Bijna half uur voordat ons tafeltje schoongemaakt werd, toen weer bijna net zolang tot er gevraagd werd wat wilde drinken en in die tijd nog geen menu kaart. Uiteindelijk zelf maar gaan vragen en ze zouden zo bij ons komen. Bijna uur na binnenkomst eindelijk de kaart. Zag er goed uit. Ik verheugde me op de uiensoep, komt er een soort bouillon zonder uien en 2e dunne stukjes brood met klein beetje gegratineerde kaas erop. Toch maar een keer aangegeven dat ik me zo verheugd had op lekker gevulde uiensoep toen gevraagd werd of het lekker was. Meisje begreep het ik had me verheugd op Franse uiensoep. Dat was even een komische opmerkingen waar mijn man en ik nog even samen over nagrapte dat dit dan zeker Nederlandse uiensoep was zo zonder uien. Toen de burgers, ok hoeveelheid vlees alleen op het broodje zelf hadden we ook nog tomaat en standaard zaken verwacht dat niet niet geval was. De salade was echt smaakloos, niet zuur, niet zoet gewoon vlak. Alles bij elkaar teleurstellend en omdat alles zoveel wachttijd had inclusief afrekenen en wachten na de bon, hebben we geen nagerecht genomen.

Begin november hier gegeten met mijn vrouw en kinderen. Helaas niet voor herhaling vatbaar. Er ging van alles mis: de garing van mijn vlees niet zoals aangegeven (je zou het zelfs taai kunnen noemen), mijn zoon kreeg de kinderburger terwijl hij de burger van de grote kaart besteld had (en die nageleverd kreeg toen wij al bijna klaar waren met eten). Daarnaast zijn de prijzen hoog voor hetgeen je op je bord krijgt: weinig patat, slaatje stelt niets voor en het voelt toch allemaal wat prefab aan (niet vers maar voorgefabriceerd). Vroeger, toen nog De Goudsche Stal geheten, was het een stuk beter!

Het duurde erg lang voordat onze gerechten werden opgediend meer dan een uur 2x de bediening terug moeten sturen omdat de bestelling drank niet compleet was. Het brood plankje is nooit aangekomen ondanks dat we na een uur hebben aangekaart dat het nog niet was gebracht. Eten werd lauw opgediend waardoor je de laatste helft van het eten koud moet eten of niet natuurlijk. Het toetje hebben we maar overgeslagen. In lange tijd niet zo,n slechte ervaring gehad in een restaurant.
