Kota Radja - Chinees restaurant in Oost

Update to the review below. Kota Radja has been under a new owner for a few months now. And while we used to be incredibly satisfied and never had any complaints, we now really don't like the takeout food anymore. We've also eaten at Kota Radja regularly lately, and the food was good then! But apparently, takeout means the current owner doesn't have to try as hard. Unfortunately, the customer service we were used to has completely disappeared. The workload is probably EXTREMELY high, causing them to be stressed. Not fun for guests and customers, and unhealthy for the staff. New owner: hire more staff and make sure the quality of takeout is just as good as when you dine in. If that happens, you'll get 5 stars again. Old review: We eat here every year with the family. Always delicious food and a cozy atmosphere. Very hospitable and customer-friendly! Also a great takeout restaurant. In short, highly recommended!

I've been a regular at Kota Radja for years, but since the new owner, everything has gone downhill. The quality of the food, the atmosphere, and the customer service. The friendly atmosphere of the past has given way to shouty, snappy service. So, I'm looking for a different restaurant.

New owner, delicious food and a nice bottle of rosé for a very reasonable price. Better quality and taste than before.

The restaurant is okay, but the prices on the website are out of date. For example, we paid €51 instead of €33.50 for an Indonesian rice table for two people.

The food is getting worse day by day.

Too bad they completely messed up the Sichuan san si recipe; no more shreds of meat but lumps, and leave out the pepper as listed on the menu; it was downright bland.

When I got home, the spring roll was missing (it happens, of course). But... After a phone call, the only response was, "Oh, can you come pick it up?" No apology on the phone. No option for a refund. No option for subsequent delivery. After picking it up (back to the other side of Apeldoorn), the rest of the food was cold, and the "koe yuk" (cow) was all stuck together. (Therefore, only 1 star.) Previously one of the better Chinese restaurants in Apeldoorn. Unfortunately, there was no sign of that this time. Bungling and absolutely no service!

We've been coming to Kota Radja for 25 years. Everything was delicious and perfect. The atmosphere, the friendliness, and the food were fantastic. Whenever we ate somewhere else, we always said: "That's not Kota Radja, is it?" But after the last two times we went there, we don't go anymore. It's really dirty. We heard there was a new owner. Such a shame.

We got takeout and really enjoyed it. Good hot dishes and very good quality.

We ordered catering for 30 people on Sunday. The food was delicious, everything delivered on time in warming containers. There were various dishes and side dishes, and plenty of crockery and cutlery. If we ran out, we could call them to replenish, but that wasn't necessary. The staff were very friendly, and we didn't have to wash dishes ourselves. And all for €15 per person! In short, a wonderful, delicious buffet with perfect service!

I have been coming to Kota Radja for years, but yesterday I got a bowl of nasi with kroepoek. It was really inedible. The nasi was tasteless and lukewarm and the kroepoek was not fresh. It was tough. This is really not the quality I am used to. This is also the last time I have been to Kota Radja.

Now that I read this I know that I am not the only one because a while ago I ordered a takeaway menu number 10 but because I was too early I got a snappy answer from a lady, I thought oh my, so I was waiting when the hatch opened and a meal was pushed through, well then it went wild; that lady pushed back with a loud voice and the chef too, it happened like that up to 3 times, I found it really unbelievable the takeaway area was full and everyone looked at each other. Then the number 10 normally more than enough but now it was disappointing (half containers) and all the sauces tasted the same, (brr salt just like ketchup) pieces of fat in the babi pangang brr the fou jong hai was a lump of egg So I will not go there anymore

After many years of good food, the food is now worthless (new owner). The spring roll consists mostly of bean sprouts with a stray piece of chicken. Little taste. The nasi is poorly filled and looks like white rice and is dry. The babi pangang floats in watery sauce and both have no taste. Too bad. Wine while waiting for our food was terrible! Probably very wrong choices are made here to save money. Looking for another Chinese!

takeaway for 20 years. had a dip but came out fine. chicken spring roll always tasted good. But now, new owner, thought to mix chicken with fish or in the same fryer. Too bad, we are no longer happy with it and will not go back. 3 months later new attempt and luckily they took it seriously. Chicken spring roll tasted excellent, luckily. Nice that you are back. The spring roll tasted sour, not what we are used to. The nasi was bare and tasteless, as was the prawn crackers. Looking for a good Chinese.

After a change in ownership, the food is different. The employees are not really busy. Sateh sauce is thicker and less tasty. Chicken curry is spicier and has a lot more oil or something like that. Panggang is also less than before. Shame!

New recipe, spring roll special, takes some getting used to

Had Chinese takeaway last week and most of the dishes tasted good, but there were quite a few bones in the Ajam Pangang. This was disappointing and meant that we were not completely satisfied.

The food smells like wet dog, so close to spoiling, I didn't feel very good after eating either. But try another one. Understand that you can reheat food a day later (if you store it properly!) But serving almost spoiled food is not a good sign

A gem in Apeldoorn. Fantastic Chinese-Indian restaurant in a beautifully designed building. Both exterior and interior very clean and hygienic. Wide range of Chichuan/Teppan/Shanghai and Indian dishes. Very friendly staff. Very tasty food and we would love to come back.

Picked up food after ordering by phone. Process is running - during rush hour around 6 p.m. - quickly, after 15 minutes food was ready. Quality and price (prices of the menu in the webshop are outdated) are okay, as is the friendliness of the staff and the food is well packaged and hot. Sufficient P-places. The furnishings are 'old-fashioned Chinese' and need modernisation. That's why 4 stars if you eat there.

The food was delicious and the service, apart from one lady, was fine. The lady in question was unfriendly, lazy and constantly hovered over me and my mother to serve across the table. The menus were "thrown" on the table and a customer's napkin was used to serve the hot plates and it was also put back. Once again the food was delicious!!!

I had a nice New Year's Eve dinner here with my wife Lotus. Ordered a menu with i.a. duck, which was wonderfully tender. Dessert for me was stracciatella ice cream and a nice coffee. The price was not too bad for two people. If you are staying in Apeldoorn, this is a nice, quiet restaurant to eat with lovely people serving you.

In addition to take-away, you can enjoy a particularly good meal here in the restaurant, for example Chinese fondue. Plenty of space at the large round tables and fast, excellent service.

Omdat onze vaste chinees brand had gehad, waren afgelopen kerst op zoek gegaan naar een vervangende chinees. Alles netjes besteld. Bij de bestelling kregen we te horen dat we pas op 19:00 konden afhalen, want het was erg druk op kerst. Bij het afhalen was de gehele chinees leeg??? Bij het uitpakken begon het al. We misten wat. Even netjes bellen en vragen wat er mis was gegaan. Aan de telefoon kregen we een enorm grote mond, er miste echt niets. De opmerking die wij kregen was: je probeert gratis eten te krijgen. Die rotzooi die ze leveren eet je nog niet gratis. De bami met garnalen had geen garnalen. Overal zal een overvloed aan paprika in. Vette sauzen. Wat er met het vlees was, weet ik niet maar het zat minimaal in de gerechten. Deze chinees nooit weer. Voor iedereen die dit leest. Als je vulling voor je kliko zoekt, haal hier je eten.

Our first time there, we were traveling through and wanted to eat something. Well the food was really perfect and enough.

Kwamen jarenlang tot de corona iedere donderdag een portie overheerlijke nasi (meestal) halen om op de zaak te nuttigen. Helaas zijn ze na de corona pas om 16 uur open. We missen het nog iedere week. He schijnt dat je wel kunt bestellen en dan met lunchtijd kunt ophalen. Gaan we doen.

Just got food at Kota Radja because the neighbor's Chinese De Tol was closed. I have been to KR in the distant past and thought I would never return because of the poor quality food that was served. Since today I know why again..... :-( Ordered monthly menu. The accompanying nasi smelled stale and tasted very meaty. A bad bad taste. The chicken was not fresh and the babi pangang was all fat in a nasty red sour sauce. The three other guests who ate with us all gave the same opinion. We left all that nasty stuff behind and started eating something tasty via home delivery. No extras such as a small piece of prawn crackers and not even a request for sambal. Quite neat when you order about 45 euros worth of food. I will happily drive a little further in the future, but we REALLY won't be coming back here anymore. Bye Kota, bye Radja!
