Ku Kitchen & Bar in De Weteringschans

Great sushi and definitely worth a visit. The flamed items were phenomenal and ended up being our favorite part of the meal. We walked in without a reservation and were able to grab seats at the bar, which was nice. The only downside was that the food took a while to come out. We usually ordered two rolls at a time, and there was a bit of a wait between each round. It seemed like most people had reservations, so that may have been the reason. Drink are VERY good and reasonably priced. Overall, I’d still happily come back.

Very good Japanese food for the most part The Karaga dish turned out to be two pieces of chicken schnitzel with mayonnaise. Very standard. Not at the level of Japanese kentatsuko The duck gyoza were better with excellent dough and delicate filling. The duck was not noticeable but the dish was successful The fruit bento was served in a stunning way - a successful tuna salad with pieces of live tuna eaten with pieces of seaweed, a few pieces of raw salmon, tuna and scallop sashimi, pieces on rice, tastings of three rolls of simple maki sushi, a fried roll and an inside out, and a delicious seaweed salad. Service - Saturday evening and the place was packed, and apparently this affected the service I received. It took about fifteen minutes from the moment I arrived until someone spoke to me, the counter was set up in unclear stages, and it took a long time for the food to arrive. In restaurants for 50 or so euros per person, I expect better service. Because I was sitting alone, they sat me at the bar, and it turned out that for an hour I watched the bartender wash dishes because the sink was right in front of me :( Atmosphere - The place is bustling and popular, a very pleasant atmosphere. In conclusion - a place with potential that needs more waiters during peak hours.

Waygu bao bun cheeseburger ohhh emmm geeeeee.🤌🤌🤌 Sushi was surprisingly just ok, but if you come for the bao, I think you'll rave.

We had an amazing experience here. The food was excellent and really elevated, the staff were very friendly, and the atmosphere was wonderful. I’ve been to a few Japanese places before, but I’ve often been disappointed by fast-food-style sushi and Japanese food. This place was completely different, it had the touch of finesse and attention to detail that I had always been looking for. Thank you for the warm hospitality and great service. Hats off to the chefs!

What a wonderful experience this was. Everything we ordered looked fantastic and tasted even better. The gyoza were a particular hit. They were perfectly cooked and served on a nice plate with the restaurant's name on it. We will definitely be back soon to try the rest of the menu.

Delicious, good quality sushi and interesting cocktails. I can recommend bento sushi box, it’s a great combo, you can try a lot of different things if you’re struggling to choose. Staff is nice and attentive, I can recommend the place!

Really enjoyed the seafood. Especially the scallops. Sad they ran out of tuna while we were there because I'm sure it's also excellent. Burger was good. Steak was fine.

I live close by and have been a number of times over the last few years. It seems they’ve now reduced the menu variety and increased the prices. The food is ok but feels like style over substance. I would suggest going elsewhere for better value and atmosphere! We were disappointed after our recent visit.

The restaurant came highly recommended by a colleague whose restaurant choices I trust. My dish took around 40 minutes to arrive after ordering as it was a busy time. However, the staff handled the delay thoughtfully - they offered me a complimentary beer and removed the wakame from the bill, which I really appreciated :)

Amazing taste, enjoyed a bento box for two and it was delicious!

All existing praise is completely deserved! Even though the special bonito tataki had run out, everything else we ordered was delectable. From the perfectly salted edemame, delicious garlicky eggplant, veg gyoza, to the live flame seared scallops nidiri and California roll. Only the miso steak was slightly chewy. The almond cheesecake was another revelation- the mascarpone was just as good as a dairy one! And the wine was brilliant - grüner veltliner!

Amazing experience, one of the best dinners in a while! The staff (and the owner!) were super nice and competent, clearly putting a lot of effort and love in their work. The drinks were great and the food was outstanding: great quality and ingredients, a little elevated but keeping the Japanese soul. I would 100% recommended Ku and can't wait to come back!!

Went to Ku Kitchen and Bar and had an amazing time. The staff were friendly and attentive, and they explained each dish perfectly. The quality of the food really stood out: everything tasted fresh and well-prepared. I’m usually not a fan of raw fish, but their sashimi totally changed my mind. Overall, great vibes, great service, and food that delivers. I’d come back in a heartbeat and I’m already recommending it to friends.!! ❤️❤️

We went there for the first time during a visit to Amsterdam. We had the veggie and Tori bento, accompanied by delicious wine and sake. The portions are generous and beautifully presented. The food was fantastic, as was the service – truly attentive, friendly, and super professional 😊 We'll definitely be back; it's a really great restaurant, highly recommended!

This is one of the best sushi places in Amsterdam. The aburi sweet miso salmon roll is one of the best sushi rolls I have ever had. The menu is good and the service is decent. The atmosphere is also quite nice and the drinks menu is extensive. A bit pricey, but worth it for an upscale sushi experience in a nice place.

We went for the “Restaurant Week” deal, but unfortunately the staff didn’t seem updated on the menu. We asked for gyoza as a starter, but were told it wasn’t possible with the 3-course option. After showing the menu online, the waiter initially said it wasn’t from their restaurant, but then checked the name and agreed. For the main, when the bento sushi arrived, I asked if we would get sticks, as mentioned on the menu. The waiter said yes, but then added that we wouldn’t get dessert anymore, so we had to explain again that dessert was included. When it came to dessert, they didn’t ask for our choice and simply brought vanilla ice cream, which isn’t even part of the Restaurant Week menu (mochi and yuzu were listed instead). At that point, it started to feel like we were asking for extras, while the staff kept suggesting certain items weren’t included, even though they were. It became quite exhausting to keep clarifying, so we didn’t bring it up again. Overall, it wasn’t the experience we expected, especially compared to other restaurants participating in Restaurant Week. That said, the sushi and gyoza were nice.

Yuck, yuck, and more yuck! The food looked like it came out of a can!? The beers tasted like hand sanitizer, and the other food tasted like a wet sponge.

I enjoy the place and the food, I'm happy that I could eat good Khao Soi somewhere need me. I recommend this place if you are looking for a good Thai food, it's really well made there.

Absolutely divine. I went here for my anniversary dinner with my honey as a total surprise to me — and WOW!! Some of the best flavors combined I’ve ever had. Salt, fat, acid, heat + umami in ever single bite! We were catered on by not only the owner, the bartender and a server. Amazing service, down to earth people, and outstanding food. My partner had been here when they first opened 14+ years ago… this was his first time returning and he said he would never forget this place… we left speechless. We felt like royalty, everyone was so overly kind and helpful. Thank you to everyone (including all the amazing chefs) for such a memorable evening! Dank je wel ❤️

Amazing experience! I had the vegan bento and it blew me away: delicious vegan sushi with other mind blowing dishes. My friend had the fish bento which was also great. Plus 10/10 recommend the edamame tofu with black sesame sauce: it's like a salty cheese cake, it's just perfect. We'll be back!

Not a large menu, but real fresh fish and very tasty prepararion/combination. And for Amsterdam, one of the best cost / beneficit you can get, we love it!!!

Abiro Salmon was perfect the caviars on top of the serving was put on fire by the light of the waitress. We also tried California roll which was served hot. Veggie tempura was good too. The staff was very warm and friendly

Fantastic experience. The food is super ultra duper delicious. Not only is it tasty but the scenographic is also cool! I think it’s my fav spot in Amsterdam to have a high quality sushi and meat. At the end of the visit we also ordered espresso martinis (one regular and the other creamy - spiked with baileys) and some sweets. As a person with gluten intolerance, I was extremely happy that I was assisted to make all the choices for my gluten free meals. 💖

Super delicious and original food. Unfortunately, the grumpy service (if she even came to help) really dampened the mood, and I'm not planning on going back. We noticed she couldn't even crack a smile for other customers, and everyone was left thirsty with empty glasses. She was, however, quite cheerful with her colleagues.

Had a wonderful evening at Ku Kitchen! I celebrated my birthday with family. The food was delicious, varied, good quality, and very fresh. The atmosphere was super relaxed, and the service was spot on. The staff were very friendly and attentive, including the manager, bartender, and waitress, who replaced dropped chopsticks faster than I knew. Fantastic!!

We enjoyed an excellent meal at Ku Kitchen. After being warmly welcomed we were shown to our table. I chose the seafood bento with a Japanese rice beer, both were excellent and the bento in particular was great value. If you're looking for a fun and relaxed Japanese restaurant it's well worth trying Ku Kitchen.

The food was of excellent quality, and the cocktails were also excellent. The table service was excellent and fast, though we would have preferred a bit more attention from the staff. But with only two people serving, they did a fantastic job! Kudos to the Korean lady with her beautiful smile.

Had a wonderful dinner with Ku kitchen and their amazingly friendly and attentive staff. The menu was a little limited but the options are a 10/10, especially with a sake pairing. All in all a very nice experience which we will definitely remember !

I am so glad I visited Ku Kitchen. The sushi was some of the best I have ever tried. I highly recommend getting the aburi sweet miso salmon. We ordered 2 lots because it was so delicious. The staff were all so lovely and helpful. I would fly back to Amsterdam just to visit this restaurant again.

We had a very nice dinner today. The food is very good and tasty. The onsite ‘torching’ of the Shushi dish was very creative and unique experience for me. The ribeye stake with miso sauce was amazing too. The service can be a bit better, I think the restaurant is short stuffed and the limited stuffs are running and working very hard to meet the demand of their customers. Overall a very nice experience.

First night in Amsterdam and came here for a late night dinner. The food was very good, the wagyu slider, torch scallop and oyster were my favourite. Nice cozy spot with good vibe.

Ku Kitchen is my go to for Sushi in Amsterdam. It's not cheap (20 euro minimum for a sushi roll of 8 pieces) but the food is always excellent. You must book in order to get a table, i've never been able to get a walk in. Service can be hit or miss, a few times we have been waiting a long time for drinks to arrive, and food can sometimes come before, which personally i really don't like. Will always go back due to amazing sushi, but maybe only on payday!

We have had a lovely tasty dinner at Ku Kitchen the other evening. Food was indeed good as expected. The down part was the “fast food speed feeling” : still having a bite in the plate and personal was already at the table to pick the plate and ask if other things are needed. Understand the need of turning the tables fast per evening, but that hurry hurry part gave the feeling of time pressure of ending dinner shortly after beeping served. We have stayed little over 1 hour. ( we were 3 persons). No second drink since feeling of speed up was integrated in decor. So ok … but … not really dinner feeling restaurant.

Great food, drink and service. There are vegan options. The only downside is that if you sit at the high table and chair, it’s not very comfortable and the space is small. Water for 8€.

What a lovely place. Very delicious sushi and sashimi. wagyu burger is a pleasant surprise. Staff is super friendly. Since we were with a small baby they hosted us so good and arranged everything so well I was very impressed. Thank you Ku. It was the perfect start to our Amsterdam trip.
