La Nostra Gigi was one of the best Italian dinner experiences I’ve had in Amsterdam. I was seated quickly, and my server, Melodi, provided exceptional service—attentive, friendly, and thoughtful without making me feel rushed. I ordered the Spaghetti al Pecorino e Tartufo, which is prepared tableside and mixed directly inside a large Pecorino cheese wheel. The presentation was impressive, but the flavor was even better. The pasta was creamy, rich, and perfectly coated with Pecorino cheese, truffle glaze, and black pepper. It was immaculate from the first bite to the last. The restaurant has a stylish, intimate atmosphere with warm lighting and a unique interior. It would be a great spot for a date night, special occasion, or solo dinner in Amsterdam. Based on how incredible the pasta was, I’ll definitely be coming back to explore more of the menu. I highly recommend La Nostra Gigi for Italian food in Amsterdam, truffle pasta, tableside cheese-wheel pasta, excellent service, and a memorable dining atmosphere. Ask for Melodi—she made the experience even better!

Fabulous food and great enthusiastic service. I had the meatball to start and ragu pasta - both delicious. Friends had the spaghetti prepared at the table which was also gorgeous. (€340 for four - 3 starters, 2 breads, 2 bottles of wine, 4 mains (incl steak) and 2 dessets). Recommended - would come back for a special occasion.

Insanely bad service: table not cleaned, drinks mixed up, deposit not returned (only after we asked for it ourselves), and to top it all off, food poisoning. NEVER GO HERE.

I visited La Nostra Gigi with 9 people. It took 20min before they gave us menus (we had to ask for them), and they only delivered half of our drinks (the other half we had to ask for). It took 40 min to get our starters, after which we had to wait another hour for our main. When we asked about it, they had forgotten it, so we had to order again. We got our main (at 22:00), 2 hours and 15 minutes after we arrived. They delivered wrong food to our table, but at least we got to keep it for free. The food was okay, besides a small piece of plastic in the black risotto! Not to mention that we had to remind our ordered drinks all the time throughout the night. One of the servers had his first day, so some of it can be understood - but it seemed like everyone there had their first day. The toilet was very disgusting and dirty. At the end, they forgot to take off our deposit from our bill - luckily we reminded them and did not have to pay extra.

We celebrated my girlfriend's birthday here! What a lovely place! Beautiful interior and the prices are reasonable. We tried all the dishes, a shared dining concept. The atmosphere was good and a DJ came to play. Dessert was also quite an experience. I say go for it! We will definitely be back, especially the terrace is very sunny.

We celebrated our bachelor party at La Nostra Gigi in the private room and it was really well organized! The service was incredibly friendly and welcoming from start to finish. In between courses, we did a quiz and the restaurant even had a screen and cable available, which was super nice and well arranged. The food was really delicious and the service was great! In short: a perfect location for a bachelor party or group dinner. Highly recommended!

I am not quick to leave a negative review, but I can't resist doing so now, hoping you can make use of it: we dined with 4 people on a Sunday evening at 6:30 PM. 3 people wanted the chateaubriand (one of the two meat menus). It was on the menu, but it was sold out because too much of it had been sold on Saturday evening. Apparently, poor purchasing policy. Additionally, the burrata was far too cold and not at room temperature. The other dishes were tasty in themselves (a bit too much tomato sauce in the Parpadelle), but nothing came with anything; potatoes and vegetables all had to be ordered separately at quite steep prices. And speaking of prices: we all had a starter, main course, and dessert + 1 bottle of wine and a few individual drinks, all for the price of 365.00. Well over 90.00 per person. And we didn't eat that much off. Not worth repeating for me.

Worthless restaurant. Unfortunately, we ate at Restaurant 3 because a friend wanted to celebrate her pregnancy here. I reserved a week in advance. We were served unfriendly, and the pasta tartufo was not divided fairly. The girl at the door with short blonde hair just barely didn't kick us out of the place. Worthless.

370euro for nothing. Completely unacceptable food and terrible service for a place that looks this nice and claims to have a good kitchen!!! It’s honestly shocking to experience such poor service all in one evening….. There’s a huge ‘PIZZA’ sign at the entrance, but there’s no pizza on the menu. Very misleading. We came to this restaurant to celebrate our friends’ engagement, expecting a nice dinner and drinks, but the entire experience was a huge disappointment from start to finish. When we sat down, the table and chairs were very dirty. We had to ask for them to be cleaned. Despite being 6 people, we were given only one menu, and even after asking multiple times, it took about 30 minutes to get more. At one point, when we asked another waiter, we were told “you already have a menu,” which was quite frustrating. About 30 minutes after ordering, a waiter came back and said they had forgotten our order and asked to take it again. We tried to be understanding at that point. The starters arrived, and the mussels were ice cold, clearly frozen(not fresh mussels), which was very disappointing. The glasses were sticky, and the bottoms of the plates were dirty. Overall, there were serious hygiene issues. Our table remained dirty the entire time. None of the empty plates, used napkins, or dirty glasses were cleared. Everything just piled up in front of us, and nothing was removed unless we asked multiple times. Even then, it took a long time. This made the whole experience feel extremely uncomfortable and neglected. We had asked for bread at the very beginning, yet it only arrived after the starters. For a restaurant that claims to be Italian, there was no real connection to Italian cuisine, concept, or service. Also, having a big “pizza” sign at the entrance while not even serving pizza is quite misleading. The biggest issue was the service timing. Main courses were brought out 10–15 minutes apart, so no one could eat together. Everyone received their main course 10–15 minutes apart. One dish arrived, then another 15 minutes later, then another 20 minutes later… everything was brought out one by one instead of being served together One of our friend’s meals never arrived even after more than an hour, and we had to cancel it. I also ended up canceling my own meal because it was clear it wasn’t coming. I tried some of my friends’ dishes instead, and honestly, I’m sorry to say that none of them were good they were completely lacking in flavor. Maybe it was just our unlucky night, but the kitchen was a major disappointment. When we questioned the delays, we were told “this is our concept,” which honestly didn’t make sense. After we raised our concerns, they offered us complimentary drinks, which we accepted. However, shortly after, another staff member came and told us we had to leave the table within 10 minutes because it was reserved. This was completely unacceptable, especially after everything we experienced. The only positive thing was one staff member working the terrace who was friendly and clearly trying their best, but overall, there was a serious lack of coordination and professionalism among the team. Considering the bill we paid and the service we received, this was a very disappointing experience, and unfortunately, not a place I would return to.

Yesterday, six of us went to this place for a celebration dinner. When we sat down, we clearly stated that we were there to celebrate, have a proper meal, and enjoy some drinks. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a very poor choice. I have never experienced such a low-quality restaurant in central Amsterdam before. The dishes arrived separately and after a very long wait, so we couldn’t eat together. Even worse, the simplest pasta dishes we ordered were completely tasteless — and this place claims to be an Italian restaurant. To make matters worse, my order was forgotten entirely, and I ended up leaving the restaurant hungry. There was no attempt to compensate or make up for this, which is unacceptable. As for hygiene, it was also very disappointing. The plates were dirty around the edges when served, the table was dusty, and even after we pointed it out, it was not cleaned. The glasses had residue on them. The interior of the place was very dark and felt quite dingy — if we had noticed this before sitting down, we would not have ordered food at all. After the meal, a waiter who had barely paid attention to us suddenly came and told us we had to leave within 10 minutes because the table was reserved. While we were trying to understand the situation, the staff member became argumentative and responded in a rude manner. Overall, we were not satisfied with the food, the hygiene, or the way customers are treated in this place. In short: if you want to waste your day and regret coming here, this is the place to go.

Beautiful interior and very nice terrace, service was very quick and nice. I had Risotto Nero ai Frutti di Mare and Gigi’s Spitz. It was black risotto with shrimps and was perfectly prepared, and flavour was well-balanced, spritz was refreshing. Will definitely come back again to sit inside and order something else

This was a very disappointing experience. The food arrived late and was cold when it was finally served. The taste was bland and not at all what we had expected. Additionally, the staff was unfriendly and seemed completely uninterested in the customers. We had to ask multiple times for simple things like water and cutlery. For the price we paid, we expected much more quality and service. I will certainly not be coming back here and would not recommend this restaurant either.

Really nice and stylish place, and the staff were super friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, the food wasn’t that great and also not really served warm anymore. We also had to wait quite a long time for both drinks and food. Another thing to mention is the bill, definitely check it carefully. We were charged for things we didn’t order, and if we hadn’t noticed, we would’ve paid about €30 too much. Overall, the place has potential, but there are still a few things that could be improved.

This was a great place to have dinner the first night of my solo trip. Decor was cool and the staff was very kind! I had the cheese wheel pasta which was incredible and the bread/cracker/oil starter tasted amazing.

The pasta wasn't cooked long enough, making it hard. The flavors were very off, and we tried several dishes from the menu. The other pasta dish was still quite hard, too. Incidentally, the meat and fish that came with the pasta were also quite limited. I mean, less than four appetizers, and all we had was pasta. Fortunately, the service was excellent and understanding, so the barely touched plates were removed from the bill. The food was absolutely not worth it, unfortunately.

Two months before Valentine's Day, my girlfriend and I booked a table. Upon arrival, we were told we had a spot at the bar, which hadn't been communicated in advance. After a brief discussion, a temporary spot was made available for us for an hour and a half, after which (as we were promised) we could sit at the bar for dessert and a drink to finish off our meal. The table in question was so close to a loudspeaker that we had difficulty hearing each other. The food was excellent. After sitting there for an hour and a half, we were told to temporarily move to a rickety table next to the entrance. We waited at that table for 25 minutes, constantly watching people come in, a door constantly opening and closing, and a line just a few feet away from us. After asking several times what to do next, the hostess told us she would be with us shortly. Over the course of 25 minutes, the hostess walked past us several times, looking at us, and then continued to help guests who had just arrived. After 25 minutes, we were told that the seats at the bar (which had been reserved for us and we'd been promised dessert and drinks) were already occupied/reserved. All in all, my experience was poor communication, empty promises, and hypocritical behavior from the hostess. The food was fine, but it could have been just as good at home. I won't be coming back!

I had very high expectations for this restaurant. We had a reservation for Valentine's Day. As soon as we walked in, we noticed that the music was incredibly loud. If you're not sitting next to each other, it's impossible to have a relaxed conversation. You practically have to shout. The music is way too loud, so anyone who isn't expecting it will be very surprised. We were shown to our table relatively quickly, but it took a while before someone came with the menus, etc. When we finally ordered, we had to wait an incredibly long time. There was a minor accident in the restaurant involving two people. I can completely understand that this caused a lot of stress in the restaurant. When we asked, we were kindly moved, but then completely forgotten. Many waitresses walked past us, but no one asked if everything was alright or what was wrong with our food. After waiting an hour for our main course, we asked about it. The waitress said we hadn't been forgotten. So we kept waiting. After another half hour, we asked again. We received our food promptly, but it was more than obvious that we had been forgotten. The food was good, but if you're looking forward to a relaxing evening at an Italian restaurant, I definitely wouldn't recommend this place. We also received no compensation for having to wait almost two hours for our food. Overall, it was incredibly stressful, disorganized, and not recommended. I rarely write bad reviews, or reviews in general, but if I can convince even one person to avoid this experience, then I'll write one. The waiters were all very nice and friendly, though. But in the end, my girlfriend and I regretted not just going to a fast-food place or something similar.

Very nice restaurant with good food and a great DJ. However, we waited quite a while at the entrance to get our table, even though we were on time. A woman wouldn't show us to our table, and we had to wait for a colleague "with an iPad." Anyone can use an iPad, though. They also forgot to take our coat, which wasn't a problem, but it was a bit in the way. So we asked the same woman at the entrance, who happened to be walking by, if she could take our coat. She was empty-handed but said, "No, but I'll ask a colleague who'll be there shortly." Just take our coat 😂. Another colleague did take our coat right away. I wonder what the role of that woman at the entrance actually is. I also think it's good to discuss these kinds of details because the feeling of luxury and prestige comes from small details.

The atmosphere was really nice and different. It takes you back to the 80’s. I really loved the vintage touch to it. The food was good quality too. The pasta was tasty and the rest as well. The only down part is the fact that you can’t order tap water. They tried to sell you us bottled water only. We told the waiter that she couldn’t refuse us tap water. In France it’s not allowed to deny tap water in restaurants. Anyways, apart from that, the service was good. Bravo

booked a table with my friends and payed a deposit ordered our food for starters and drinks for them to tell us at 10pm that we couldn’t have mains because they turned off the “pasta maker” while the kitchen staff were still there we ordered our food before the kitchen closed and was sitting for over an hour before they came over, the manager wouldn’t even come out to us and communicate or apologise instead she hid in the back and stayed away from us which is so rude don’t think she should be a manager i hope you take this into consideration and have a conversation with her because i wouldn’t have my staff or managers avoid their customers, we had to leave and was left with no food for the night because places close at 10 for serving food, very disappointed in this, i will be posting this all over social media so people are aware, only offered a dessert even we hadn’t had a main and then a drink which is just not what we wanted at all hope yous do something about this or tell your manager to be a manager and confront people about issues in her restaurant

I never understood why people hate "shared dining" until I ate here. There's nothing wrong with sharing food in principle, but the whole "concept" has some annoying side effects. Next to us sat a group of girls who were constantly filming each other, meaning they were constantly shining their bright camera lights in my eyes. The food itself was okay, but nothing special. It was served in a way that was totally unsuitable for sharing or dining. I mean, who serves dessert in a wooden (unhygienic) box (corners are tricky with a spoon) shaped like a book (high xenos content)? A few weeks ago, I went to another (Greek) "shire dining" restaurant, and because of that experience, I almost walked out after saying, "Are you familiar with our concept?" Luckily, because there the execution was good and the food was truly delicious.

We had a wonderful meal with a group of ladies in a private room. The restroom attendant, Elly, was such a sweet lady! She was also very helpful, and there was a lovely atmosphere. The price-quality ratio was also excellent!

Booked in advanced ordered our food then after having straters and drinks told us at 10pm they turned off the pasta maker that we can’t get our mains which is the reason we went there, when we asked for the manager she was hiding in the back avoiding us and sent her staff out to us to tell us and only offered us a free dessert when we hadn’t even had a main then a free drink after paying a deposit for the table, we were left with no food because all places stop serving food at 10pm this is and absolute disgrace and no communication after sitting there for over and hour, would not go here again and will be telling people and posting it online

A disappointing experience. The music was far too loud, we were served more than 10 minutes before our friend, and our food was cold by the time everyone else at the table was served. This is not how you organize service during a busy period. The pasta with hemlock was advertised, but the cheese roll had absolutely no cheese flavor and wasn't creamy at all—it was sickeningly bland. Luckily, the waitress was nice, but that doesn't make up for the fact that we will never return. Goodbye. Best of luck.

Awful food (truffle pasta). Even the starter bread was subpar (and was not complimentary, which they weren’t forthcoming about). Back to the pasta, I cannot expressly describe how inedible it was. It was salty, chewy and gross. A colossal waste of my money and time. The cocktail was unremarkable. Do not eat here, especially considering the price point. I seriously considered cutting my brother off for recommending this place.

Nice, cozy atmosphere, but the service was terrible. We ordered two drinks twice, and I think six came on a conveyor belt. Something went wrong, and then we had to wait over an hour and a half for our pasta. People who arrived later were helped first, but after we reported it, it took another 15 minutes and we had to ask two different staff members twice. We then ordered dessert, and they forgot to bring it. It was a real shame because we were really looking forward to this night out. We were given two drinks on the house as compensation, but no, we wouldn't be back.

The food was good, but the place is clearly overrated. The decoration is not of great taste and it is more instagramable than a proper nice restaurant I would say, so if you're looking for an authentic experience, this is not the place. I do not regret going there because I did enjoy the food and the staff serving our food was great, but the price is too high for what it is. Moreover, our experience was ruined by racist comments made straight to my family members, by the toilets staff. A conversation that started as friendly and enjoyable ended in a huge discomfort and disgust. We were just puzzled and shocked, as well as deeply offended.

Went there a while ago with my gf and my niece who was visiting Amsterdam for the first time, studying in Budapest, when she went to the toilet, the lady there started a conversation with her about how safe sh will be there because there’s no immigrants in Budapest (while knowing she is a foreign student studying there) that moment made the whole experience super annoying and not worth it at all. The restaurant supposedly high class, but unfortunate to have a bad racist hire.

Sloppy service: ordering the suggested four bruschettas instead of the standard three, then receiving three bruschettas after a long wait instead of four (and then being asked for four). Appetizers are served at the next table. This can happen to someone with the same name as the next table. Constantly having to ask for another glass of wine or other drinks. An appetizer (tartare) is forgotten, and then it takes too long to serve it, so the main courses are already being delivered. So, the tartare I ordered is left untouched. Dishes uninspired and bland Later, it turns out that the truffle pasta is cold and stale. Truffle pasta is definitely not supposed to taste that way. Because the pasta is served at the table, following a ceremonial process, this comes across as extra clumsy, and you start to feel sorry for the lovely woman serving it. The dishes are standard and haven't changed for quite some time. Nevertheless, the dishes were not up to par; student apartment level on a dreary Sunday afternoon. To compensate for the cold pasta, I asked for and received the tartare! It turned out the tartare had been charged three times on the bill instead of being free. In between, it also turned out that too little cutlery had been served. On such an evening, you're constantly managing an impending gastronomic crisis, as best you can. Because of all these mishaps, you're too often distracted to have a proper conversation with your companions. Yet, out of mischief, I was still able to laugh at the ensuing chaos with the pleasant people next to us. In my opinion, the young waiters were enthusiastic and not averse to rolling up their sleeves. However, their lack of experience and poor restaurant management were painfully apparent. To top it all off, they overcharged the bill by about €50. This also had to be corrected. Frankly, this series of events made me feel embarrassed in front of my companions. Based on recent reviews, I might have expected this, but because of the ambiance, I gave it a try anyway. In hindsight, I blamed myself. For these prices, you can get a high-quality dinner in Amsterdam. That's certainly not the case here. I can't recall a greater disappointment... Considering the reviews in recent months, I'm surprised the restaurant is still popular. With the fierce competition—in the Pijp alone—this restaurant really needs to step up its game!

Nice decor and okay service. Except for the meat, all dishes were mediocre. Our pasta was floating in a so-called truffle sauce (of which no truffle could be tasted); there was so much sauce on it that the pasta was inedible. The pizza crust was rock hard, and the risotto had no flavor and was again swamped with sauce, with not a single shrimp. We ordered and shared several dishes, but why on earth we were charged four times for bread (€16) for three pieces of bread, I still don't understand (there were four of us). I've never experienced anything like this in a restaurant. In short: not worth repeating.

The restaurant's decor is spectacular, truly beautiful, and carefully curated down to the smallest detail (even the bathroom is decorated down to the last detail). We made a reservation; it's important to know that they require a €10 deposit per person. My partner and I went, and we ordered the Carpaccio di Manzo al Tartufo, the Pizzette Tartufo alla Gigi, and for dessert, the Tiramisu della Casa di Gigi. We loved all the dishes: each had an original touch that we hadn't seen in other restaurants. The service was excellent; the lady who served us was super nice and attentive. Plus, it didn't take long to serve us, which made the experience even better. Considering the decor and quality of the food, we didn't find it expensive. In fact, the prices are very similar to those of a themed restaurant in Madrid. Without a doubt, a highly recommended experience.

The food, the location and the staff are amazing!

The blonde lady, Maud if I'm not mistaken, has served us several times. She's incredibly sociable, hardworking, good, and a true asset to the restaurant. Cherish her! The food was, as always, excellent.
