The atmosphere was really nice and different. It takes you back to the 80’s. I really loved the vintage touch to it. The food was good quality too. The pasta was tasty and the rest as well. The only down part is the fact that you can’t order tap water. They tried to sell you us bottled water only. We told the waiter that she couldn’t refuse us tap water. In France it’s not allowed to deny tap water in restaurants. Anyways, apart from that, the service was good. Bravo

We had a fantastic experience. This was our third time at Gigi's and we had a delicious meal and excellent service. Gigi's team was also very helpful, arranging a lovely bottle of champagne upon arrival!

I never understood why people hate "shared dining" until I ate here. There's nothing wrong with sharing food in principle, but the whole "concept" has some annoying side effects. Next to us sat a group of girls who were constantly filming each other, meaning they were constantly shining their bright camera lights in my eyes. The food itself was okay, but nothing special. It was served in a way that was totally unsuitable for sharing or dining. I mean, who serves dessert in a wooden (unhygienic) box (corners are tricky with a spoon) shaped like a book (high xenos content)? A few weeks ago, I went to another (Greek) "shire dining" restaurant, and because of that experience, I almost walked out after saying, "Are you familiar with our concept?" Luckily, because there the execution was good and the food was truly delicious.

booked a table with my friends and payed a deposit ordered our food for starters and drinks for them to tell us at 10pm that we couldn’t have mains because they turned off the “pasta maker” while the kitchen staff were still there we ordered our food before the kitchen closed and was sitting for over an hour before they came over, the manager wouldn’t even come out to us and communicate or apologise instead she hid in the back and stayed away from us which is so rude don’t think she should be a manager i hope you take this into consideration and have a conversation with her because i wouldn’t have my staff or managers avoid their customers, we had to leave and was left with no food for the night because places close at 10 for serving food, very disappointed in this, i will be posting this all over social media so people are aware, only offered a dessert even we hadn’t had a main and then a drink which is just not what we wanted at all hope yous do something about this or tell your manager to be a manager and confront people about issues in her restaurant

Booked in advanced ordered our food then after having straters and drinks told us at 10pm they turned off the pasta maker that we can’t get our mains which is the reason we went there, when we asked for the manager she was hiding in the back avoiding us and sent her staff out to us to tell us and only offered us a free dessert when we hadn’t even had a main then a free drink after paying a deposit for the table, we were left with no food because all places stop serving food at 10pm this is and absolute disgrace and no communication after sitting there for over and hour, would not go here again and will be telling people and posting it online

We had a wonderful meal with a group of ladies in a private room. The restroom attendant, Elly, was such a sweet lady! She was also very helpful, and there was a lovely atmosphere. The price-quality ratio was also excellent!

A disappointing experience. The music was far too loud, we were served more than 10 minutes before our friend, and our food was cold by the time everyone else at the table was served. This is not how you organize service during a busy period. The pasta with hemlock was advertised, but the cheese roll had absolutely no cheese flavor and wasn't creamy at all—it was sickeningly bland. Luckily, the waitress was nice, but that doesn't make up for the fact that we will never return. Goodbye. Best of luck.

Great restaurant! Thijs from the service is great. The food is tasty, but everything is a bit too salty. That's a shame! I've passed it on, so they'll definitely work on it. 😉 The desserts were delicious, especially the scroppino. We'll definitely be back.

Awful food (truffle pasta). Even the starter bread was subpar (and was not complimentary, which they weren’t forthcoming about). Back to the pasta, I cannot expressly describe how inedible it was. It was salty, chewy and gross. A colossal waste of my money and time. The cocktail was unremarkable. Do not eat here, especially considering the price point. I seriously considered cutting my brother off for recommending this place.

Nice, cozy atmosphere, but the service was terrible. We ordered two drinks twice, and I think six came on a conveyor belt. Something went wrong, and then we had to wait over an hour and a half for our pasta. People who arrived later were helped first, but after we reported it, it took another 15 minutes and we had to ask two different staff members twice. We then ordered dessert, and they forgot to bring it. It was a real shame because we were really looking forward to this night out. We were given two drinks on the house as compensation, but no, we wouldn't be back.

The food was good, but the place is clearly overrated. The decoration is not of great taste and it is more instagramable than a proper nice restaurant I would say, so if you're looking for an authentic experience, this is not the place. I do not regret going there because I did enjoy the food and the staff serving our food was great, but the price is too high for what it is. Moreover, our experience was ruined by racist comments made straight to my family members, by the toilets staff. A conversation that started as friendly and enjoyable ended in a huge discomfort and disgust. We were just puzzled and shocked, as well as deeply offended.

Went there a while ago with my gf and my niece who was visiting Amsterdam for the first time, studying in Budapest, when she went to the toilet, the lady there started a conversation with her about how safe sh will be there because there’s no immigrants in Budapest (while knowing she is a foreign student studying there) that moment made the whole experience super annoying and not worth it at all. The restaurant supposedly high class, but unfortunate to have a bad racist hire.

Sloppy service: ordering the suggested four bruschettas instead of the standard three, then receiving three bruschettas after a long wait instead of four (and then being asked for four). Appetizers are served at the next table. This can happen to someone with the same name as the next table. Constantly having to ask for another glass of wine or other drinks. An appetizer (tartare) is forgotten, and then it takes too long to serve it, so the main courses are already being delivered. So, the tartare I ordered is left untouched. Dishes uninspired and bland Later, it turns out that the truffle pasta is cold and stale. Truffle pasta is definitely not supposed to taste that way. Because the pasta is served at the table, following a ceremonial process, this comes across as extra clumsy, and you start to feel sorry for the lovely woman serving it. The dishes are standard and haven't changed for quite some time. Nevertheless, the dishes were not up to par; student apartment level on a dreary Sunday afternoon. To compensate for the cold pasta, I asked for and received the tartare! It turned out the tartare had been charged three times on the bill instead of being free. In between, it also turned out that too little cutlery had been served. On such an evening, you're constantly managing an impending gastronomic crisis, as best you can. Because of all these mishaps, you're too often distracted to have a proper conversation with your companions. Yet, out of mischief, I was still able to laugh at the ensuing chaos with the pleasant people next to us. In my opinion, the young waiters were enthusiastic and not averse to rolling up their sleeves. However, their lack of experience and poor restaurant management were painfully apparent. To top it all off, they overcharged the bill by about €50. This also had to be corrected. Frankly, this series of events made me feel embarrassed in front of my companions. Based on recent reviews, I might have expected this, but because of the ambiance, I gave it a try anyway. In hindsight, I blamed myself. For these prices, you can get a high-quality dinner in Amsterdam. That's certainly not the case here. I can't recall a greater disappointment... Considering the reviews in recent months, I'm surprised the restaurant is still popular. With the fierce competition—in the Pijp alone—this restaurant really needs to step up its game!

Nice decor and okay service. Except for the meat, all dishes were mediocre. Our pasta was floating in a so-called truffle sauce (of which no truffle could be tasted); there was so much sauce on it that the pasta was inedible. The pizza crust was rock hard, and the risotto had no flavor and was again swamped with sauce, with not a single shrimp. We ordered and shared several dishes, but why on earth we were charged four times for bread (€16) for three pieces of bread, I still don't understand (there were four of us). I've never experienced anything like this in a restaurant. In short: not worth repeating.

The restaurant's decor is spectacular, truly beautiful, and carefully curated down to the smallest detail (even the bathroom is decorated down to the last detail). We made a reservation; it's important to know that they require a €10 deposit per person. My partner and I went, and we ordered the Carpaccio di Manzo al Tartufo, the Pizzette Tartufo alla Gigi, and for dessert, the Tiramisu della Casa di Gigi. We loved all the dishes: each had an original touch that we hadn't seen in other restaurants. The service was excellent; the lady who served us was super nice and attentive. Plus, it didn't take long to serve us, which made the experience even better. Considering the decor and quality of the food, we didn't find it expensive. In fact, the prices are very similar to those of a themed restaurant in Madrid. Without a doubt, a highly recommended experience.

The blonde lady, Maud if I'm not mistaken, has served us several times. She's incredibly sociable, hardworking, good, and a true asset to the restaurant. Cherish her! The food was, as always, excellent.

We dined with a large group. The welcome was very friendly, and the space we were seated in was nice. The atmosphere was good, and we enjoyed the food. One of us was a bit disappointed: one of us has a gluten allergy, which we had mentioned months in advance when making our reservation, and again upon arrival and during the meal. However, things didn't go smoothly. Her dishes kept arriving much later than the others, meaning she had to eat alone while we were already finished. We ended up having to report this several times and even ask for the manager, but it kept going wrong. This unfortunately caused frustration, as you all want to eat together when you're out.

Great restaurant! The atmosphere was relaxed and cozy, the interior looks amazing, and the staff was incredibly friendly. We had the three-course dinner, and it was more than enough for a group of eight. Every dish was delicious and super fresh. We were with a bachelorette party and were treated so warmly. The outdoor terrace is also lovely. Highly recommended!

A lovely place. The food was very good. Only one waiter seemed quite new and seemed a bit overwhelmed at times. However, this didn't detract from the overall excellent service!

Two comments about the patio: - Prune the ivy hedge because it was hanging over the table; - A sewer smell during the evening.

We had a wonderful evening at La Nostra Gigi. We were surprisingly impressed with the crab and shrimp arancini and the mussels alla marinara: divine! Everything was well-prepared. The service was especially great: friendly, attentive, cheerful, fast, and welcoming! Highly recommended!

Love the food and the people watching terrace and an original interior. There seems to be a slight staff shortage: if yes then proactively accommodate by sharing your awareness of very slow and passive service. Either after a staff shift everything ran as an oiled machine! By the way promote the British bloke to waiter. He was most valuable during our night going beyond his duties.

Everything tastes like it came straight from an Italian kitchen, but with that little something extra. Whether you go for the antipasti, fresh pasta, or a delicious pizza, you can really taste the care and attention they put into it. And then something unexpected happens: Yves Berendse comes on stage. He immediately brings the atmosphere to the place and ensures that you're not just enjoying a delicious meal, but also having a little party. His music surprisingly complements the overall vibe of the evening perfectly. In short, La Nostra Gigi is much more than just a place to eat. It's a night out, with all the trimmings. Perfect if you're looking for good food, a beautiful setting and some extra coziness.

We had a dinner here with my friends. First of all, if you never went to an Italian restaurant before, I can understand your 5 stars. Location of the restaurant and the interior is really not matching. But that's okay. When you get into the restaurant, overall design seems dark and themed. They brought us some still water, and I swear on my life it was a tap water and not Acqua Panna. I am someone who only drinks bottled water, and exactly know the taste of every water. It was a tap water, and probably they "seem" like opening an already opened bottle, so be careful for that. Food wise; Pizzetta - was far away from a normal pizza. It had a off taste. Go and eat a normal pizza anywhere else in Amsterdam Pasta - very low quality. Overcooked gnocchi. Cleanliness - Our table sheet was dirty, my glass was clearly dirty (I asked to change) but other things seemed clean. Cocktail - These were nice, I like the one I tried. That's why I gave 2 stars. Not an overpriced restaurant, but also very mid - low quality. People who come here to take instagram pics so they leave happy. As they have no idea about the food or quality.

Incredibly disappointing! The food seemed completely pre-cooked and tasteless – absolutely nothing to do with good Italian food. They couldn't even prepare a simple tomato pasta dish for a child. The place itself is really nice, but the food is simply awful. A real shame – absolutely not a recommendation!

The food was delicious! We had: The arancini with crab and shrimp... The carpaccio with pesto. Bread with dips (highly recommended, deliciously different bread with olive oil and a truffle dip). Pecoroni and truffle spaghetti And the shrimp risotto And pistachio for dessert... Everything was delicious! You really felt like you were in Italy. The staff was also very relaxed. They just let you browse the menu at your leisure, and they don't keep asking if you want another drink...very relaxing! I thought the dessert didn't have much ice cream; it was more like puff pastry...

Surprisingly good food at La Nostra Gigi We went to La Nostra Gigi in Amsterdam with a group of eight women. The interior is exuberant and almost theatrical—you might think for a moment you'd landed in a place where it's all about showmanship rather than good food. But nothing could be further from the truth. We received a warm welcome from the hostess, and the entire team exuded enthusiasm and professionalism. Even the lady at the restrooms made the experience complete. The place was packed and there was a pleasant buzz, but thanks to the excellent acoustics, we could easily hear each other. And the food? Truly fantastic. Beautiful plates, everything perfectly seasoned, and clearly conjured up with love. Tutto fatto a mano (to give it its all). In short: we were pleasantly surprised and will happily return.

Nice restaurant with professional and warm service

The food was delicious, but not worth the price. For example, since they wouldn't let us sit inside as I had booked because one of us was wearing shorts, and apparently they have a dress code, which we weren't aware of because we didn't see it posted on their website, they made us sit outside. Without warning, it turns out that the truffle pasta dish, which comes in a cheese wheel, isn't served in the wheel because it's outside, which somewhat defeats the purpose of the dish. Furthermore, it took so long between courses that we were almost digesting. I'm sorry, but we can't recommend it.

Probably all the comments here are paid fakes because this place is nothing like what is advertised. 1) Stuff from the sea like the oysters are definitely not clean enough, as 2 of us had a bad stomach afterwards. 2) Waiters are far from professional, they are basically young students with 0 technical capacity. Intention of the place is that you order a couple of everything. But they dont take notes ! So one bruscetta comes, small 2 breads. I ask for something else, then wait for that too. If you order 3 things at the same time they most often than not forget the last one. Then you get to wait again. 3) Tables arent clean. 4) Expensive as fuck. Not worth the money. The wines are basically supermarket grade.

I have nothing to say about the food and the waiters - they were OK, but when it comes to the atmosphere, they left a lot to be desired. The woman who was hired as a "bathroom cleaner" did not know her job, she called customers who used the bathroom and ordered them to do her job, she also did not leave people's side and entered the bathroom right after them and assessed the condition out loud (for example, that the door was not closed)

Last Sunday we had lunch at La Nostra Gigi, we had already made a reservation 3 months in advance because we had planned a day in Amsterdam. When we sat down at the table we were immediately offered a Bellini which we found a bit strange, so I asked why this was and after some misunderstandings it turned out that they had an event that afternoon. We had only made a reservation earlier than the event was planned. We could order from the normal menu but we felt a bit uncomfortable. Everyone in the restaurant was there for the event with an adjusted menu and unlimited Bellinis and we had other drinks and a normal menu. Staff was super friendly and very nice but we chose to order a few separate dishes and then go.

Had a great meal and received very good service from River and Thijs. Friendly gentlemen and very polite, well informed about the menu and the wine list. They made good recommendations. The bruschetta as a starter was very tasty and from there to the dessert everything was great!
