La Presa in Binnenstad

In a place you are unfamiliar with, it can be difficult to find a nice spot for food and drinks. La Presa is such a place. Delicious dishes to share and a very good wine list. Combined with tasteful decor and a host who combines passion for the craft with subtle humor, La Presa is one to remember and return to.

Given the high score, I made a booking with high expectations. Food served in the wrong order, way too much mayonnaise, anchovy pickles. The waitress had a strong smell of perspiration; the cook went outside to smoke and then back into the kitchen. The bill was presented, but afterwards there was no one with a card machine, so you have to go to the cashier yourself. In short: one big disappointment; it is a mystery to me where that 4.6 score comes from.

I gave this restaurant a 5-star review 5 years ago. Since then, it has been high on our list whenever we were in Middelburg. Today, I called at 5:30 PM to reserve a table on the terrace. A friendly lady named Anouk told me that they don't take reservations on the terrace and suggested we just drop by and see if there was any room. We did that around 7:30 PM, and everything was full. We went to get an aperitif a little further down the road and passed by again just after 8. It turned out there was a table for two free. Imagine my surprise to hear that it was ‘reserved’ 😳. I told my story and received a very vague explanation that didn't make sense. ‘No reservations on the terrace’ apparently doesn't apply to everyone, go figure…. That’s not how you treat your customers! Hence this 1-star review.

Our first time at La Presa...what a surprise. It really is a treat to eat there. Friendly staff, an intimate atmosphere, the dishes are incredible...we couldn't choose which dish was the tastiest. It's been a long time since we went home feeling so satisfied. We will definitely be back to try the other dishes!!

We had reserved in time to end our day in Middelburg here, and we must say that the food did not disappoint us in the least. Aside from the food, however, the overall experience was a letdown. We had the 17:45 time slot, and upon entering, it was immediately made clear that we only had 120 minutes and had to make room for the next shift afterwards. As a result, it was not possible to order the Chef’s Surprise Table, for example. The dishes you order all arrive quickly, but two hours is simply too little time to truly enjoy a restaurant visit. You can feel in every aspect that you have to rush, and that detracts significantly from the experience, because the restaurant is actually worth more than this experience. When we wanted to pay at 19:50 and were also told that this was convenient because people were already waiting, we felt truly kicked out. Once again: no complaints whatsoever about the food, because that is delicious. But avoid the early shift, as it really falls short of the experience.

Disappointing is a fitting collective term for the experience at La Presa. After much anticipation, we finally dined here with a group of six on the first shift at 5:30. When we asked about the surprise menu, we were immediately advised against it due to the time constraints; the staff said it would be a "cram." Not exactly a great way to start a meal if you're planning a leisurely meal; it felt rather rushed. Why offer such a menu when you know it won't work with shifts? We ended up ordering three rounds, sometimes with more than 25 minutes between dishes; it's nice to eat each other's food at the same time. Around 7:30, we were asked if everything had been to our liking, and we were told we'd missed another dish after more than 30 minutes, which would then arrive later. We were then told that there was unfortunately no time for dessert or coffee. We didn't even have the opportunity to order this because we were never asked. A very strange way of dealing with guests; you got the feeling they'd rather see you gone than welcome you. We were therefore advised to take the late shift at 8:00 PM next time. What's so strange about this? Why do you offer two shifts when you know you can't provide the service you normally can? All in all, a very disappointing experience. The only bright spot was the food itself; when it arrived after a long wait, it was actually delicious.

I advise you to make a reservation because I went here on a winter wednesday night and it was full! 10/10 would come back. The service was amazing it was a young girl and an older man both were amazing, very warm and nice. The atmosphere was cozy, the deco and music were on point. It's not a big place and it gives a vibe of a locally owned restaurant. Me and my partner ordered almost half of the menu and it was totally worth it. All the cocktails we drank were amazing also 10/10. What food we liked the most: The bruschettas, the salmon takimi and the korean bbq. The lemon merengue cake was out of this world eventhough it's a tapas place we thought it was a bit small. Overall we would definitely order these again. What we didn't like that much: just 1 portuguese red wine ;) not enough space for more food in our tummys. Also for me the duck pancakes and candy bacon were good, not amazing, the taste was a bit strong for us, so i wouldn't order it again. In the end our bill was around 200€ but we went all out... You could definitely eat here for like 50€ per person.

Each dish felt like a small, almost culinary surprise. The menu offers a nice variety, with more creative interpretations. The portions are just right, allowing you to try several dishes without feeling overstuffed. The service also deserves a compliment; the staff is friendly, attentive, and makes excellent recommendations. They certainly contribute to the pleasant atmosphere of the restaurant. Our dog was also welcome! In short, this is a place you'll want to return to again and again. Highly recommended for those who love sharing and a cozy atmosphere!

During our weekend getaway, we were looking for fun and delicious restaurants. We made reservations at La Presa for Saturday evening. What a special and wonderful evening we had. The food was absolutely delicious, prepared with love and passion. The mussels are highly recommended, as is the eel with pork belly. Combined with the friendly service, it made for a fantastic evening. We'll definitely be back when we're in the area again. It's quite a drive from Diemen. Fijne ontvangst, heerlijk gegeten. Wij komen hier zeker nog eens terug! De paling & langzaam gegaarde buikspek, de Korean fried chicken & de iberico Presa waren favoriet. We zaten buiten en dochter had het koud- geen nood, een fleece dekentje was voorhanden.

Very tasty. We had three carte blanche dishes, crispy duck, and fish cakes. Everything was quick and delicious. A minor complaint: a lot of fat and no vegetables. The last course, the steak in a sweet sauce, wasn't a success. The wine was great, and the service (owner, perhaps?) was very pleasant and helpful. Unfortunately, criticism is not welcome. After giving many compliments, I remarked that the fish cakes weren't easy to cut, and was told, "Everything is small, so that's not important." Suddenly, there was no big smile or time to pay attention. A shame...

We had a wonderful meal at the "surprise dinner"! With 6 people we couldn't order from the menu. But what a treat this was with the 9 dishes! So well cared for and refined in taste, super!

We had dinner at La Presa in Middelburg tonight and were really surprised! We were actually looking for a tapas restaurant and ended up here by chance — the shared dining concept was a perfect fit. All the dishes we received were all super tasty, well-flavored, beautifully prepared and just the right portions. Really better than expected! The location is also very nice: a small, attractive restaurant with a cozy interior. We sat next to the open kitchen, which added a nice extra dimension — you can see everything being freshly prepared. The service was also very friendly and cooperative, also very nice to the children. All in all we had a really great evening. We will definitely come back here again!

While strolling through Middelburg we discovered the small restaurant "La Presa". There was already a sign on the door saying they were fully booked for the evening. We asked for the next evening and were lucky. The dining room isn't really big and we sat right in front of the open kitchen. To explain, the plan is to share portions, similar to Spanish tapas. The very friendly and attentive service (actually everyone on the team takes on all the tasks) explained the restaurant's system to us. So we ordered the first round. The small delicacies were freshly prepared in front of our eyes (open kitchen). Each one is a trip to different countries. Cooked to perfection and each portion bursts with flavor. You could taste that someone here cooks with joy and love. All in all it was a highlight of our holiday, we will definitely come back if we are in Middelburg again. An absolute recommendation, but you should reserve very early, we were told we were lucky to get a table. Visit “La Presa”, it’s worth it!

Wir reisen oft und besuchen gerne Restaurants. Es ist jedes Mal eine Überraschung. Im La Presa in Middelburg war es die beste Überraschung seit langer Zeit. Obwohl unsere Reise "nur" nach Seeland ging, an diesem Abend sind wir um die ganze Welt gereist. Nach Indien, nach Sizilien, nach Frankreich... Bei jeder einzelnen Speise merkte man: Hier kochen Leute, die Spaß an Aromen und Geschmäckern haben. Hier arbeiten Leute, die mit Herzblut bei der Sache sind. Hier sind Mensch am Werk, die mit Kreativität und Spaß das Genussvollste aus den Zutaten herausholen. Es war wirklich ein ganz besonderer Abend, wir hatten großes Glück, hier zu essen, und wir kommen sehr sehr gerne wieder. Absolute Empfehlung!

Beim Schlendern durch Middelburg entdeckten wir das kleine Restaurant "La Presa". An der Tür hing schon das Schild, man sei ausgebucht für den Abend. Wir fragten für den nächsten Abend an und hatten Glück. Der Gastraum ist nicht wirklich groß und wir saßen genau vor der offenen Küche. Zur Erklärung, es ist angedacht sich die Portionen zu teilen, ähnlich wie bei spanischen Tapas. Der sehr freundliche und aufmerksame Service (eigentlich übernimmt jeder vom Team alle Aufgaben) erklärte uns das System des Restaurants. Wir bestellten also die erste Runde. Vor unseren Augen (offene Küche) wurden die kleinen Köstlichkeiten frisch zubereitet. Jedes für sich eine Reise in andere Länder. Auf den Punkt gegart und jede Portion eine Fülle von Aromen. Man schmeckte, hier kocht jemand mit Freude und Liebe. Alles in Allem war es ein Highlight in unserem Urlaub, wir werden definitiv noch einmal einkehren, sollten wir noch einmal in Middelburg sein. Eine absolute Empfehlung, man sollte aber sehr früh reservieren, man sagte uns, wir hätten Glück gehabt einen Tisch zu bekommen. Besucht das "La Presa", es lohnt sich!

La Presa is ons favoriete restaurant waar we dan ook regelmatig heengaan. De gerechten zijn een ware smaaksensatie , echt genieten Ook genieten van de heerlijke wijnen/cava en natuurlijk ook een lekker biertje. Robert is het vaste gezicht van La Presa en een echte gastheer!

Yesterday the 3 of us had dinner at La Presa, actually everything we ordered was delicious! From the cocktails to the dessert. All dishes were well seasoned and the plates were beautifully presented.

All dishes are excellent, lots of flavor and a beautiful presentation. Enjoy it immensely with an incredibly delicious red wine. The service also dares to advise when in doubt. It is pricey, but in our opinion it is completely worth it. Best in town!

We were rudely sent out of the restaurant because we were only allowed to sit for 2 hours. We were abruptly told that we were not allowed to order dessert and had to leave quickly. This was quite contradictory to the slow service at the beginning, so it took half an hour before we got our first round. In total we could only order 9 tapas in our time due to the slow service.

At La Presa we enjoyed delicious dishes – really tasty and well prepared. Unfortunately, our experience was overshadowed by a few annoying points. There were a lot of flies present, which significantly disrupted the comfort. In addition, we had to wait an unnecessarily long time for our first round of tapas. To make matters worse, we were told around 7:30 PM that it would close at 8:00 PM, so we were no longer allowed to order dessert. This announcement was delivered in a particularly rude manner. In our opinion, it was mainly their own fault that the waiting time took so long, which meant that the entire evening was no longer completely balanced. Hopefully these points will be addressed in the future so that the quality of the food can play the leading role again.

Cozy location and atmospheric with delicious food

Impossible. We called shortly beforehand based on a recommendation and were promised a table for five people, but with a time slot of only 1 1/4 hours. It was fine for us, we just wanted to eat quickly and well. When we arrived we were told that there was a table available but not enough chairs. The explanation was the following, adventurous story: the boss would live in Greece, monitor everything via camera and distribute the tables. But he probably wouldn't have seen that there weren't enough chairs at the table in question. That was it, we were asked out straight away, a short apology, no offer for the next few days or anything like that. In any case, we have never experienced anything so strange. Maybe because we are a family with three children?

Geweldig leuk, sfeervol, klein en pittoresk tentje in Middelburg! Uitstekende service, heerlijk eten, goede prijs/kwaliteitverhouding, mooie porties en zeer smaakvol! Aanrader en wij komen nog eens terug. Dank voor de fijne avond :-)

2 weken geleden waren we een weekendje weg in Middelburg. Ondanks dat we 3 weken van tevoren gereserveerd hadden konden we enkel nog op het hoekje van een hoge tafel aan het raam zitten. We mochten geen tafel voor 4 met zijn 2-en terwijl andere stellen hier wel aan zaten. Toen men ook nog de jassen van het personeel niet weg wilde halen op de voor onze bestemde plek zijn we ergens anders gaan eten waar we wel met open armen werden ontvangen. We eten vaak buiten de deur door letterlijk heel Nederland, maar dit was een dieptepunt. Zelden zijn we zo onbeschoft behandeld.
