We had a tasty meal, although based on the price we had expected a bit better. Sometimes the dishes lacked a bit of flavor. The owner (or at least, it seemed like she was the owner) was very unfriendly when we indicated that something wasn't quite to our liking. When paying the bill afterwards, not a single question was asked about whether we were satisfied.

We had a three-course menu. Not bad, but for 56 euros you would expect more refinement and a bit more vegetables; the dessert was very simple. For red wine by the glass, there was only one choice, so no choice at all. The staff do their best, but two young employees for eight tables is quite a struggle. The price/quality ratio is simply not okay; there is clearly a profit model behind it that you also see at its sister restaurant, Basalt.

Had a delicious meal; the 4-course surprise menu was excellent. We used Social Deal vouchers, though, to keep it somewhat affordable. Good wines and friendly service. There is plenty of parking available. There are also 2 charging points right outside on the quay.

Enjoyed a nice and cozy ambiance, knowledgeable and pleasant staff, and above all, delicious and surprising dishes with a wine pairing. Worth repeating! Restaurant No. 7 is top-notch!

We had a 5-course meal; it was fine, with an equally good wine pairing. We replaced dessert with a cheese board featuring three different types of port. The toilets are accessible via a steep staircase upstairs, so they are not equipped for wheelchair users.

Celebrated a fantastic 40th anniversary with my colleagues. We had the atmospheric space upstairs all to ourselves. One anecdote followed another, and in between, beautiful and delicious dishes were served. The personal and relaxed service made it a perfect party. Thanks, Miek 😘.

Nice and cozy restaurant, they serve delicious dishes with matching wines. Highly recommended, we have eaten here for the 3rd time and everything is always to our liking.

The food is of good quality and nicely prepared and served. There's only one menue you can select from but you can choose whether you want to go 3,4,5 or 6 courses. The ambience is very nice. In We're had a table in the first floor. The entire restaurant has a noble character. So far so good. Here comes the non so positive impression. The service is solely performed by students. They were nice and their their best. But for a restaurant which tries to sell a *-type experience it's not good enough. The service took long, no knowledge of the wind list and pairings, the chatter of the staff (we had a table next to the service bar) was disturbing and highlighted that they were inexperienced trying to work their way thru the challenges they were facing with a room full of guests. I anyway recommend to spend an evening but lower your expectations on service.

Very cozy and romantic little restaurant located by the water. Beautiful interior. The chef works with a surprise menu, and you can choose between 3, 4, 5, or 6 courses with paired wines or juices if you prefer non-alcoholic options. As a sommelier in training, I found it a pity that when ordering the menu, I wasn't immediately asked if it included paired wines or juices. Also, the wine list was not automatically presented along with the menu. I had to ask myself if it was possible for me to have the wine pairings with my menu and for my friend a glass of non-alcoholic drink, and by then we were already on the intermediate course. We had to make do with our aperitif for the amuse-bouche and starter. The waitress was clearly a short-term employee and very friendly, but it is a shame that she didn't receive any guidance regarding the wines from someone knowledgeable, because otherwise you could have sold me the pairing for 4 glasses, whereas now I only drank 2 glasses. Even with dessert, we weren't asked if we wanted coffee (my friend had something sweet) or a digestif (I had cheese). Yet, you could make a lot of profit by offering drinks at the right moments... Just a tip, though! The food was tasty, the plates well-presented, and everything sufficiently hot. Friendly staff, clean toilets, but a very steep staircase to get there and back up in those high heels. Reserving in advance is recommended.

Delicious food and a great menu, everything is possible and the service is very good. The building has its charm, but the furniture is falling apart by now. That is unacceptable.

A charming restaurant in a charming old building in the beautiful city of Middelburg, ideally located opposite the harbor and the dock on Dam Square. We thoroughly enjoyed a 5-course menu with delicious, beautifully presented dishes. The menu was accompanied by excellent Spanish and Italian wines. Michael, the owner and chef, is a very friendly young man who knows his craft and serves the dishes in a charming way. We had a wonderful meal here with four guests and a pleasant evening. Highly recommended and worth it. It was absolutely fantastic. We will definitely be back.

It is quite pricey. For the money you pay here, you should be able to expect something. The food was tasty and fine. But it took a very long time; the coffee afterwards was already lukewarm, that’s how long it sat before we got it. This is really a downside for an otherwise cool restaurant. It takes too long, and your glasses remain empty for a long time. The service is what you expect at a grand cafe, but not here. The price/service ratio is simply not in proportion.

We had a pleasant dinner there and I thought it was a very beautiful building in a nice location, but I feel the price-quality ratio is absolutely not right. Three of the five courses weren't really great, and one was even left untouched that wasn't even paid attention to in the end; the serving staff therefore absolutely did not match the standard they claim to have. We sat with an empty glass very often and for a long time. Not once was anyone asked if we enjoyed the meal when the plates were cleared. So, unfortunately, no second time for us.

We had a delicious meal and what a beautiful building.

Perfect four-course menu (thee, five and six are possible too, but four was just right: go for the fish), with good wine pairing (the main one with the fish, and the dessert one, were amazing). Good Armagnac, acceptable coffee, friendly service, adorable space, impressionist replicas of Flemish baroque on the walls. Beautiful light and fresh air. We had a lovely evening.

We had a wonderful evening, despite being "moved" to another restaurant (Basalt). My father is disabled, and the downstairs restaurant was full; upstairs wasn't possible due to the lack of an elevator. Without a second thought, Miquel was able to immediately arrange a table at another of their restaurants. We were offered another drink and left with a big smile. What fantastic service, something that's unfortunately no longer a given. But here, they really know what hospitality means!

Delicious dining at a nice location on the quay. Super friendly service and with a lot of know how. It is not cheap but we as an older couple were pleasantly surprised and paid the price for the 4 course menu with wine arrangement with pleasure.

Very refined tasteful food from honest products. For when you want to dine well. After 5 years back again. Too bad about minor overdue maintenance, broken napkins, stains in the tablecloth, dust. Food is still great. Personally I don't think fries as a side dish fit, then have a baked potato.

The food was great! But for this money the total picture should be right and that was not the case. I already had doubts when reading some reviews about the service. The young girls do their best, but they have no idea what they are serving the guests. This is not due to the girls, but to their guidance/training. Furthermore, we think it is bad that you have to pay extra for the fries. At these prices this should be included. We sat upstairs, it was much too hot there. There were guests who left. And finally, our bill was wrong on 2 points. We had a bottle of €96 on the bill and the yums discount via the Fork was not applied. Too bad. Not worth repeating for us. At this price range the total picture should be good and it was not. Hence only 2 stars.

After more than twenty years, there is of course a new team at #7. The atmosphere is a little more chic but also more intimate. The service is very friendly and personal. The dishes vary from very creative (lacquered mackerel starter) to quite standard (bavette and redfish) but always demonstrate knowledge of flavors, garnishes and cooking skills (the bavette in perfection). In short, very tasty and worth coming back (and sooner than in 20 years).

Friendly service, but with little knowledge. The dishes are all tasty but lack refinement in taste. Few creative non-alcoholic options and a very limited choice of wine/beer anyway. The ambiance exudes luxury, but this is not fully reflected in the dishes, so the price/quality ratio is out of balance in our opinion. For this money, more refinement can be expected. Tip: don't go in winter, or wear a thick sweater because it is very cold inside.

We had dinner for 2 and received a warm welcome upon arrival. The lady walked us upstairs to take our outerwear and let us choose a table. There was one person who took charge of the top floor, a young man who did not speak Dutch very well, but clearly indicated this in advance and occasionally tried to communicate subtly back in Dutch. We both chose the 3-course meat, without the wine list. With each dish, explanations about the dish were given at a leisurely pace. When ordering 2 glasses of chardonnay, the origin and taste were also explained. We spent a total of 3 hours here, it felt like time flew by. The gentleman who manages the top floor has his affairs in order, he gave us space but if there was anything he was immediately at our table. We were not short of anything and I would definitely dine here again, although I will go for at least 5 courses. The portions were just right, although I must say that the smallest menu (3 courses) will not fill the stomach. For a good meal I recommend at least the 4 courses, so you can enjoy this great cuisine the most. The chef can be proud of it. Thank you restaurant number 7 for last night. You will see me again.

Mooi restaurant, vlotte bediening door vriendelijk personeel, het eten is mooi gepresenteerd, maar qua smaken eerder middelmatig. Het wijnarrangement is een echte rip-off. 36 euro voor 4 x een mini glaasje wijn, ik schat à 5 à 6 cl per glas. Dus minstens 12 glazen uit één fles oftewel 110 euro verkoopprijs voor wijnen die minder dan 10 euro aankoop kosten ( twee van de 4 heb ik eerder al gekocht) Bij het hoofdgerecht vroeg ik nog een glaasje, waarop weer een bodempje ingeschonken werd, en hiervoor werd dan ook nog eens 9 euro extra aangerekend Pure diefstal!

Normaal maak ik er niet zolang verhaal van maar dit is even nodig. Afgaande op recensies op Tripadvisor, dachten we een goede keus gemaak te hebben voor fine dining in Middelburg. Dit is ons niet zo goed bevallen. Bij binnenkomst staat het personeel met de rug naar ons toe en is er niemand die ons ontvangt, nadat er eindelijk iemand de moeite nam dit wel te doen mochten we een levensgevaarlijk trapje op waar we een tafeltje toegewezen kregen op zeker 25CM van de volgende tafel. Er stond een stevige wind en ik overdrijf niet, alzijnde een koude luchtstroom waar je serieus ziek van kon worden, zo niet chique en zeer onprettig. We kozen voor een 4 gangen menu waarbij we eerst een wijntje wilde drinken, op de vraag welke rode wijn ze hadden, kregen we het antwoord: rood. Ik snap dat personeel ingewerkt moet worden maar dit was niet best. Probeer dan je personeel dat ingewerkt moet worden andere dingen te laten doen en pak zelf de wijn, daar waar de andere serveerster veel verstand van had, op om vervolgens van advies te kunnen dienen. Vervolgens vroeg de serveerster of we vis of vlees wilde als hoofdgerecht, ik vlees mijn vrouw vis, de serveerster roept vervolgens: 2 x vlees, eh nee, wel blijven luisteren he. De avond ging van start met een echt geweldige amuse gevolg door een ijskoud, uit de koelkast klaargezet voorgerecht van zalm, de smaken waren op zich goed bedacht maar niet te herkennen vanwege de temperatuur, tussengerecht was uitstekend (zwezerik en sukade van kalf) waarna vervolgens het hoofdgerecht kwam, wat ook ok-ish was. Dit had echt beter op smaak gekund. Nadat we moesten wachten op de wijn terwijl ons hoofdgerecht er al stond, was ik er wel klaar mee en heb ik het nagerecht wat we verwisseld hadden voor kaasplankje geannuleerd en gevraagd om de rekening. I passed by the restaurant and went in for dinner and the girls were super rude and ill-mannered and told us to leave because we didn't have reservations in a bad way! I thought it was disrespectful on the part of the waitress in charge!

The previous positive reviews made us decide to reserve a table in Restaurant Number 7. We have not regretted this. A beautiful location, an excellent restaurant with friendly and efficient service. The menu is a surprise, because on the menu you can only choose from various multi-course surprise menus. (3, 4, 5 or 6 courses). We opted for a 4-course menu with matching wine pairing. The combination of dishes with the matching wine was explained in a fun and surprising way by the friendly service. Each dish was beautifully presented on the plate. You almost wouldn't want to eat it, but of course we did. All dishes were top notch. We enjoyed it. We highly recommend this restaurant and we will definitely return to this top restaurant.

Zaterdagavond besproken bij restaurant 7. Aardige ontvangst. Bedinging was niet zo geïnteresseerd in hun nieuwe gasten. 3 gangen menu besteld met een wijn arrangement. Duurde 3 kwartier voor ons eerste glas, die we zelf bestelde. Een glaasje cava vooraf, dat later bleek €9,00 te kosten. De eerste wijn van het wijnarrangement werd na een uur ingeschonken , wat een kwartier voor het eerste gerecht kwam. Bij het tweede gerecht kwam men met enkel rode wijn, terwijl er vis en vlees was besteld. Ik had het glaasje rode wijn reeds genuttigd voor het vlees kwam. Alles duurde lang en ongeïnteresseerd. Helaas hebben wij moeten besluiten om vroegtijdig de rekening te vragen. Voor en hoofdgerecht waren lekker, maar service en prijs staat niet in verhouding. Helaas, geen aanrader. ,

Verrassende, lekkere gerechten, kundige en erg vriendelijke bediening, uitstekende wijnen erbij geserveerd met het wijnarrangement en een mooie ambiance. Kortom, we hebben genoten van een geweldige avond het Restaurantje Nr. 7. Echt voor herhaling vatbaar

Leuk restaurant, idee van verrassing menu is leuk en spannend. Wel is het eten soms te spannend, teveel smaken op je bord kan ook teveel zijn. Bediening is spontaan en kent het vak. Blijf einde zitting wel alert en was vouwen doe je niet bij de gasten.

What a surprise that we could just go to this top restaurant. And what a wonderful formula a surprise menu is. No stress of choice, but a delicious taste with an unexpected twist. And that is expertly supervised by the nice servers. We will definitely come back here one day.

What a delicious meal we had here again. The restaurant has a very cozy atmosphere, there is nothing over the top. The service is friendly and provides a lot of explanation about the dishes. Whenever we have a question about something, we always get a good answer. We are not alcohol drinkers, but we are not looked at for that. The dishes are all unique and exceed my expectations every time. Every detail contributes. You can taste all the ingredients separately and you will already taste a lot, but they also fit well together. All in all, we have a great experience here every time 😊

A very special restaurant. Here you can order individually from the menu, but there are also menus with up to 7 courses. We had exactly these 7 courses in the “surprise version” and were thrilled. Each course is something very special for the palate and the eye. The service is great. The atmosphere is very nice. A perfect place for a special evening. Clear recommendation! Be sure to reserve. The online version works very well. Update from Easter 2024 - I can confirm everything again. A wonderful restaurant!

Pretensions, but that's okay if you make it happen! We were spoiled from start to finish. Very friendly service at the table. Good food and wines. Nice atmosphere, correct and yet a bit informal. Not over the top! Nice balance in food, service and atmosphere. The only minus is the temperature. When the guests arrive, a lot of cold air blows in. That makes you uncomfortable at times. Other than that, only positives!

The food is very good, but it took 40 minutes between dish and dish to serve them, which cuts all the vibes. For a 80+ EUR menú you expect a more agile service.

The food was very tasty, but there was no nice atmosphere and I thought that was a bit of a shame.

We ate a delicious 6-course dinner last Christmas Eve. Atmosphere was great, service was perfect and big compliment to the chef.

We had a beautiful evening. The food was delicious and the chef brought us the appetizer himself. He was super friendly. There was a younger lady working as a waitress, but hospitality was not her priority. You pay 8 euros for a glass of wine and it was served in a simple glass (what they use in our local pub). She only poured it a quarter full so after 2 big sips the wine was gone. Fortunately, when ordering a second glass of wine, there was another lady serving. Very hospitable and she also gave another nice glass with the right amount. So you see what the service cannot do. If the other lady had been customer-oriented, I would have given it a big 10! Another important thing: don't dress too lightly because it is cold there.

We have come from a long way to celebrate Boxing Day here. The only positive thing about this place is the service. The food was downright bad! The products were not fresh. The toast with the appetizer was weak, the tuna was tasteless with chunks of water cucumber, beef was cooked gray, the blueberry compote was sour and the langoustines were puree. We had a 6 course menu and left after 3 courses. We certainly wanted to pay for what we had eaten, but we even had to pay for the last course that neither of us ate! Out of honest shame, they could have at least taken this course off the bill. Been nauseous all night. I don't understand how this restaurant gets so many stars... Or there must be another 'chef' now. Have eaten better in a roadside restaurant.

Very very tasty! Enjoyed the atmosphere, the great service and the delicious food. We also laughed. No pictures were taken of our food. We'd rather enjoy the moment than take pictures.

What a place, great decor, nice service, the food was brilliant, we found it unpleasant that we insisted on paying separately because this supposedly wasn't possible. After we asked 3 times it worked. Despite all that, we will go there again.

Today we were extensively pampered in Middelburg. Beautiful restaurant located on the water. We had a five-course surprise dinner that started after a delicious mocktail. Each course accompanied by matching wine. If you look at the photos you will see the paintings that looked good, but tasted delicious. Recommended. When driving away, a beautiful sunset sky above Middelburg.

Very nice atmosphere, delicious food. I took the vegetarian options myself and they were fantastically well prepared. At the end of our dinner the cook came to have a chat. Good, friendly atmosphere!
