Leo's Bar & Lounge in Omval/Overamstel

Unfortunately, this was the one meal in Amsterdam that really disappointed us, particularly because the service and food everywhere else we visited had been exceptional. We waited quite a while to be served and ordered our mains with the wine pairing. Both wines arrived well before the food, including a white wine that was already warm, so they were taken away to be brought back with our meals. The problem was that we didn't have consistent servers. The person who took the wine away didn't appear to know when our food had arrived, while the person who brought the food clearly didn't know we'd ordered a wine pairing. As a result, neither wine came back. We eventually had to ask for them when we were already halfway through eating. Warm white wine and cold food is pretty much the opposite of how a wine pairing should work. The food itself had some good elements. My husband's sauce was delicious, but his pasta was cold and the mushrooms lacked flavour. However tasty a pasta dish might be, serving it cold is always going to spoil it. My burger was perfectly nice, although nothing particularly special, but the chips were cold to the point that I didn't eat them. If you're serving burger and chips and half the plate is left uneaten, someone should really notice. That was probably the biggest issue. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy and there seemed to be plenty of staff, but there was very little attention to what was happening at individual tables. Staff seemed to spend quite a lot of time talking amongst themselves and, when our plates were eventually cleared with a significant amount of food left, nobody asked whether there had been a problem. We raised it ourselves at the end and even had to suggest whether they might offer us a cocktail at the bar. They eventually did, which we appreciated, but we'd much rather someone had checked on us during the meal and had the opportunity to put things right then. The menu is quite limited too, so this isn't a case of a kitchen trying to execute a huge number of dishes. Perhaps we were unlucky, but compared with the exceptional service and quality we experienced everywhere else in Amsterdam, this really stood out for the wrong reasons. It could be so much better, but based on our experience I would avoid it.

We visited the bar 2 and half hours before closing. Ordered only one drink becasue the waiters were totally ignoring us the whole time.

Couldn’t access the resto as I didn’t make reservation yet but I stayed at the bar. The foods were so good and the drink was good also. I am very satisfied.

Stay here regularly for work and normally eat in town but was short on time so ate in the restaurant (Leo’s). Really disappointing, first dish (chicken burger) was warm at best, the chips were cold and at 24 euros I sent it back. Staff were good and happy to swap for another dish. Expensive for very average food unfortunately 🫤

We had a light dinner here and contrary to the other reviews we found our dishes to be quite tasty. The vegan gyoza was flavorful and our chicken dishes were cooked very well. I recommend the Flammkuchen Pulled Chicken! It was very delicious. Our servers were also very kind and helpful. Just wave them down if they don’t come right away! Thank you for the experience!

Restaurant inside the Leonardo Royal Hotel. An excellent option if you're staying at the hotel and don't feel like going out to find a restaurant. I recommend the burger, it's good! Prices are a bit high!

We tried the hotel restaurant for a family dinner. We had baked potatoes as an appetizer and large salads as a main course. It was very good and everyone enjoyed it. The staff is attentive. The location is beautiful and the seats comfortable. We highly recommend it.

I recently ordered the Soto Soup (egg, noodles, crispy onion, and bean sprouts) and was really disappointed. The soup was watery and overly spicy, lacking the rich, flavorful broth I was expecting. While the presentation and service were both great, it’s clear the dish was not thoughtfully prepared. If you’re offering a vegetarian option, it deserves the same attention and care as any meat-based dish. I hope the kitchen revisits this recipe to offer something more flavorful and balanced.

This restaurant is an absolute gem! The food is bursting with flavor and prepared to perfection. The staff are incredibly kind and go above and beyond to guide you through the menu, offering wonderful recommendations. A truly delightful dining experience!

I recently visited the coffee shop inside a hotel after a long business meeting, hoping for a quick break and a decent cup of coffee. Unfortunately, what I got was far from what I expected. Instead of a simple refreshment, I ended up with stomach pain and full-on diarrhea. The waiter made the coffee terribly, and to make matters worse, the milk was expired. The service was slow and unprofessional, and considering the quality (or lack thereof), the prices were completely outrageous. I expected much more from a hotel coffee shop. Safe to say, I won’t be coming back.

The food was super tasty and fresh. The fries were also well seasoned and crispy. My companion and I both took the “Leo’s Burger” and were completely satisfied - they even asked how cooked the meat was, which is not a given everywhere. The service was also great: very friendly, attentive and always at the table quickly. You felt comfortable throughout. The prices are rather high, but they are absolutely fine for Amsterdam and the quality. If you're looking for a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere and don't want to drive into town again, you're in good hands here.

The food isn't great and is overpriced for what it is. Otherwise, the rest is okay.

The grill steak was too small, and the meat was quite nervous, fortunately well cooked. My wife had fish and chips: small portion of fish, and 10 fries that fight a duel. Total: €61, with a beer each. We went to have our dessert in the room with the rest of our cookies from the picnic. Very disappointed. In addition, the musical atmosphere imposed on us (loudly) does not at all correspond to what the restaurant wants to inspire in terms of class and refinement. It's a failure.

Athmosphere ok. Service was blunt and eye-rolling if responses weren’t immediate. Gluten free dishes were not but limited also not respected; the dish was marked as gluten free but was sprinkled with bread. 0/5 won’t go again. Previous night I ordered a steak which was filled with chewy fat parts but decided to give the place a second chance.

Typical hotel restaurant, efficient service but the food was way below par. The carpaccio of beef looked great but was drowning in pesto sauce. The Caribbean chicken wings (3!!!) was a joke for the price. My colleague said the steak was good quality but small. On a Monday night there were not many other choices.

We had a good time, the staff is pleasant, the cocktails are good and the Léo burger too!! It's just the prices that are a little excessive.

We stayed in the hotel for 3 days (October 1st - 3rd, 2023) and ate dinner there on two of those evenings. Due to some negative reviews, we were excited to see what we would experience. There were three of us traveling. The first time we were among the first to order food, the second time we were only there an hour after it opened. Every time we were served friendly and quickly by the exclusively young staff, they also answered questions, were nice and tried hard. The menu is manageable and everyone involved really enjoyed the food. The portion wasn't overly large, but we were all absolutely full. The quality was more than acceptable for us. We enjoyed the food. The restaurant is very chic, but not overly large. But it wasn't used much, at least during our stay. The prices didn't feel cheap, but that seems to be normal in Amsterdam now.

The food itself is pretty good, but not exceptional either! The Leo Burger is dry and only the steak has any flavor. €4.50 for a 20 cl Pepsi! I find it too expensive. The waiting time is completely random. We waited only 15 minutes to have starter AND main course. But 30 long minutes for 2 unfortunate desserts. A little thought for the large table next to us who waited more than 1 hour to get their dishes. We will unfortunately not come back because the quality/price ratio is not the best and the waiting time is horribly long.

We visited the ”Leo’s restaurant”on the ground floor of Leonardo Hotel with a bunch of people. Food was ok and prices reasonable. Some dishes were quite surprising as we thought we had ordered a main course, but ended up getting something that seemed like an appetizer. Needed to work hard to get the attention of the waiters. Service was ridiculously bad. We did not know whether to laugh or cry on our way out. Will never go again.

Modern lounge and bar with unfortunately not very comfortable seating options - more would have been possible here. Cocktails from €14…
