My first time at Loetje was here! What a wonderful place to relax. We had a delicious meal and some good old-fashioned bread to dip in the gravy!

Delicious steak. They even catered to gluten-free intolerances.

The food at Loetje was excellent, as usual, although the Balinese steak was a lot spicier than at other locations (we hop around all the Loetje locations). The service was truly terrible! Upon arrival, we were given arrogant, expectant looks as if we were wearing something of his. For example, the question "Do you have a reservation?" wasn't asked, so after a bit of awkwardness, we simply stated that we had a reservation and under what name. During our 3.5-hour visit, after the first time, we weren't asked again if we wanted drinks. We did ask once ourselves, and otherwise, the service was non-existent. Our plates sat on the table for ages, which was incredibly annoying. The dessert plates sat on the table for at least an hour and a half, which was very messy. At the end, a table further away asked a server who was walking by, to which she responded very directly and curtly, "I'm not working anymore, ask my colleague." She had just finished work and was still in her work clothes. How hard is it to answer a question for 20 seconds? Passion is clearly hard to come by. This was the first time we experienced this at a Loetje. Such a shame, we won't be going back. On to the next Loetjes.

A large, empty hall. The service was far below par; after the first time, we were never asked if we wanted drinks again. The food was disappointing; portions were smaller and considerably more expensive. The starter was more cheese with carpaccio than the other way around. After asking for the bill three times, we finally got it. We've always been fans of Loetje, but this was our last time.

They have a delicious club chicken.

Nothing wrong with it, but this place is very crowded. The food is good, but the steak isn't anything special. The price is way too high for that.

The Coca-Cola Zero and 7-Up were delicious, as was the carpaccio. Everything else was too salty (peanut sauce, chicken, and steak), tasted burnt, and the main course was a bit cold. When a leashed dog came in, it was time for us to leave, which was a shame.

Known for its steak with gravy and sandwiches. It's remarkable how this Amsterdam establishment has become so popular, even outside the city. A particularly hip crowd by Houten standards. This is even more impressive than the service 🤩. Friendly service.

Monday evening, too late to go home for dinner. So, let's see what's open in Houten. A, Loetje. I always thought I'd heard the food was great there. Quickly checked the menu, which seems fine. Also for children. We're not super critical, but I usually check reviews. I should have done that this time. It all started well. Easily accessible location, ample parking. Beautiful location, and we immediately got a table outside on the lovely terrace. A truly wonderful place to sit! We ordered drinks and then the food. There are options for children, but that means there's a separate menu that you have to ask for. We ended up ordering two children's menus, two main courses, and two side dishes. The main course and children's menu arrived relatively quickly. When we were served, we were told the rest would follow soon. Then someone came to ask if everything was to our liking. Well, no, we didn't have everything. Oh, I'll take care of that. Five minutes later, a bowl of lukewarm fries is brought to the table. Sauce is in a small container on top of the fries. The salad arrives later. The salad finally arrives. A bowl of lettuce, a few pieces of vegetables, some bacon bits, and some sauce. The bread, for which Loetje is apparently famous, is still missing. The waiter reacts irritatedly when I point this out. Apparently, you're supposed to dip the bread in the gravy. However, the gravy is incredibly salty, just like the fries. And it looks very greasy. The steak itself was okay on the inside, but a bit dry. The fact that more than 10 minutes passed between the main course and side dishes didn't help matters either. The children's portions weren't worth €12. When we finished eating, no one showed any interest, so we walked to the entrance to join the checkout line, skipping the chance to try the desserts.

As many others have already said, we found the gravy far too salty. I know several people who no longer eat there for that reason. The steak itself is fine, and so are the fries. It's a real shame.

Had a wonderful lunch on a shady terrace on a warm summer day. The service was excellent. The atmosphere was great too. If I may make a suggestion, I would have missed a placemat or something similar. The plate arrived on the terrace table, with a napkin and cutlery, but it's much more pleasant to eat with something underneath. I'm not in a cafeteria, so the prices are a bit higher. Otherwise, everything was delicious and fine. I enjoyed my two croquettes on country bread.

First time at Loetje. I looked at the website and it says "with the famous Loetje gravy, freshly baked white bread and crispy fries." When they come to take our order, they ask if we want fries with it. I ask why it's served with a container of crispy fries, which is stated on the website. I point this out and add an extra container. The steak comes with one container of fries with mayo on the bottom, not three containers as described on the website. "Are we finished?" they ask. "Is everything to your liking?" "No, we were missing the three containers of fries. They only serve with bread." "Would you like dessert?" "No, we're full. Would you like to pay?" "Yes, please." "Then that portion of fries is still on the bill. I can't do anything about that. After three trips up and down, the boss removes the portion of fries from the bill, but the other three portions disappear like snow in the sun. It's a shame and wasn't properly resolved, so this was a one-time issue. The barn is very noisy, making conversation almost impossible.

It's a shame the service in Houten has gone downhill. The three of us went out for dinner on Saturday night. First of all, it's great that you can often get in here without a reservation. Sometimes there's a bit of a wait, but that's okay. Anyway, the waitstaff starts by escorting you to your table and then taking your drink order. You can give them the menu when you order your drink, or earlier if it takes longer. So far so good. It's busy, and taking orders can take a bit longer, which is fine. There are plenty of servers around, but spotting what's needed is proving difficult. Then the food is brought out in parts. Two steaks and one salad, but it was wrong (touched), so I immediately pointed out that it wasn't ordered. We had to return the salad to the kitchen to get the correct one, which takes a while. It's annoying, but it happens. We also ordered fries, but even after addressing someone who happened to be looking at us, the fries didn't arrive until the steak was finished, just before the correct salad arrived. We were just able to order a drink with the salad. Well, more can go wrong. Our drinks didn't arrive until after our salad was finished, served by someone other than the first person to arrive at our table. There was absolutely no direction, and most of the staff wandered around without a clue what they were doing. Finally, after several attempts by the woman who had taken our order the first time, she asked if we enjoyed our meal while clearing the table. Mmm, it was enjoyable, but she had no idea what had gone wrong at our table, which was definitely in her area. After explaining, I don't think she really understood that this wasn't proper service, and we received an apology, "Yeah, well, it's busy, we have the terrace open too." Again, there was plenty of service, several tables inside were empty, and not all tables on the terrace were occupied either. But they have no idea what needs to be done or how to be more organized. I hope you get someone soon who can manage the service and explain how things should be done. Good luck!

We sat outside in the beginning. But when started raining, nobody took charge to sit us inside. We were waiting in the middle of the restaurant for quite some time.

Good steak, but what a price hike. That's why this was my last time, because you can almost get a Wagyu steak for the same price elsewhere!

Beautiful location, delicious steak. The rest was disappointing: salt with fries and sauce with salad... The service was terrible; we had to take our plates to the kitchen ourselves after they hadn't been collected after 45 minutes, even though we were done. The dishes weren't even cleared after the tea/desserts were served, and no, it wasn't busy! One white sandwich per person, but after asking, we received an extra half sandwich. Loetje's whole concept is a white sandwich with a stick of butter... Otherwise, the staff were friendly.

The food was delicious! The steak salad and Bali tenderloin were super tender and flavorful. The portion was more than ample. The refreshing mocktail topped it all off. Relaxed atmosphere and great service.

We went to dinner with the family on Wednesday evening. As usual, the food at Loetje was delicious. But damn, the service was terrible. Our first drink arrived at the same time as the starter, which was ordered 10 minutes later. Getting someone to come to the table to order a drink proved impossible. Despite a nice break between courses, they didn't even manage to come by, resulting in the starter plates still being on the table when they brought the main course. We even skipped dessert because they didn't return to the table to order. Perhaps it would be better on other days, or when the terrace is closed, but this was truly hopeless.

On medical advice, I follow a plant-based diet. A bit hesitant, but also very curious, I took the Steak 0.0. I really like meat and am normally not a fan of substitutes, but this was a really good alternative. The texture and taste were so close to a real steak that I didn't notice the difference. My friend, who had a "real" steak and tasted a piece of mine, was even impressed. The service was a bit slow. It was also a bit busier, but we had already finished our dinner for an hour when we decided to get the service ourselves for the dessert menu. That could have been more alert. But all in all, definitely worth repeating.

The food was very tasty and of good quality. Unfortunately, it took a long time before someone came to us after we had finished our plates. Staff regularly walked past us and also raised our hands, but they pretended not to see us. Furthermore, the service was very nice and they explained well how everything worked at Loetje.

Voucher from AH. Carpaccio, steak and dame blanche were good. Service really left something to be desired. The start was good but after that you are no longer in the picture. Moreover, the drinks are incredibly expensive. Once a beer was ordered and it never came. After asking again we got the answer that they were cleaning! It was not even 20:30! Been to Loetje in Zeist before and that was really different.

Large noisy hall, no atmosphere at all. Kind of a food shed. Vegan burger was okay, I found the other burgers very meager for the price. Took quite a while before the food arrived. Our service was grumpy, someone who came later when something had gone wrong was a lot more pleasant.

Due to traffic jam on the A27 we went to Loetje at 4 pm to have a drink and something to eat. We didn't have a reservation. We were 'welcomed' by a girl with: 'you're not staying for hours, are you? Then you can sit on a bench against the wall...' The whole place was empty... Not that you say: a warm welcome.. The girl probably missed the 'hospitality' entrance test

Food is very good. Service on the other hand.. reserved but then had to wait 20 minutes at the bar until a table was free for us. Very busy for the staff who also apologized. Too bad it is all so crammed full, doesn't make it any better. I will not come back here.

A good restaurant to eat with children. It is very busy and noisy and very massive. I had the strong impression that there was not enough staff. The steak was good though.

Very nice atmosphere, food was fresh and good quality. Staff friendly and fast. Prices are resonable. The garden is pleasant to sit and cozy.

After reading so many negative reviews we were hesitant to go, but...... We have to say it: it was beyond expectations! Our "regular" hostess/waitress (Megan) was way above average...... our food was delicious! We certainly do not regret coming to Houten. To the review readers: don't look back at all the bad reviews but go and experience it yourself! We recommend it to you!

We had high expectations, but our visit was very disappointing. After ordering, we had to wait an extremely long time, only to find out that they had simply forgotten us! The only “excuse” we got was: “It’s busy.” No apologies, no solution, nothing. When the food finally arrived, it was cold. We sent it back of course. Fortunately, we were then helped by a friendly lady who really showed understanding – that deserves a compliment. In addition, it was extremely noisy. The restaurant is located in an old farmhouse with high ceilings, which means that the sound bounces in all directions. It was almost impossible to have a normal conversation. Not really the atmosphere in which you want to dine quietly. The food itself, when it finally arrived, was quite tasty. But to be honest, that does not outweigh the bad service and the long wait. We really felt ignored. Not recommended – there are plenty of other places where you are treated as a guest.

Our first time Loetje steak. It was really delicious. Too bad all side dishes have to be paid extra. Still strange, a dish without vegetables and/or fries or potatoes, while it is already not cheap. Drinks also expensive. So this adventure was a one-off.

After an evening of shopping at Baby Dump we decided to have a quick meal at Loetje Houten. Reception was good, but after that we seemed almost invisible. After waiting 20 minutes I asked for a menu myself and when ordering we called someone to take our order. Furthermore, the food was excellent, large portions and served quickly. Checkout was also very difficult to get anyone's attention. Room for improvement

Loetje is always good. I thought. The quality of the food here is simply excellent. But the organization and service are flawed. You arrive with a reservation at 7 p.m. on a Wednesday and when you order you are told that there are only 2 steak tartare left. Choose for yourself who can still order it. Just before the main course arrives you are suddenly told, the tuna salad is finished, would you like something else? When the main courses are brought, you order a drink. It only comes after about fifteen minutes, when the food is gone. And the side dishes, bread with the steak and mushrooms and onions only arrive 5 minutes after the steak itself. And then also terrible acoustics in the conservatory. Not the best experience. Definitely go to Loetje, but choose another location.

Best steak in the country 😄 Gravy can be halved but is delicious. The white bread is too much and why not white and brown or choice. Desserts disappointing.

If you order steak, there will be an additional price. For fries, vegetables or applesauce. Then I think it will be very pricey. For what you get.

Biefstuk is de specialiteit. Ik vond het oké, niet meer. De bijgeleverde friet was niet knapperig, eerder slap en lauwwarm. Stond misschien al even. Een half glas wijn bestellen (BOB) kan het systeem niet aan. Ze denken hier blijkbaar niet vanuit de klant. Gelukkig wilde een tafelgenoot ook een half glas. Ze schenken dan in 2 glazen wat minder. Heel apart en niet van deze tijd.

Steak is the specialty. I was okay with it, not anymore. The fries supplied were not crispy, rather limp and lukewarm. Maybe it's been there for a while. The system cannot handle ordering half a glass of wine (BOB). Apparently they don't think from the customer's perspective here. Fortunately, a table companion also wanted half a glass. They then pour a little less into 2 glasses. Very special and out of date.

The all the food looked great and my dinner was very good I had the boli steak. the service and staff were excellent. All around a pleasant experience.

Met ons zessen toch gezellig 2 uur lang kunnen vertoeven onder het genot vaan een lekker medium biefstukje met patat, salade en plakjes wit brood om heerlijk te soppen in de pittige jus waar ik om had gevraagd. RBediening was redelijk allert en aardig, hoede keus uit nagerechten. In tegenstelling tot de reviews die ik gelezen hebt bij mijn voorgangers is het voor ons allen, namelijk 3 koppels, voor herhaling vatbaar. Tot de volgende keer.

The service was friendly, but there were too few staff. We got the apple pie 15 minutes after coffee, after asking for extra. Because there were not enough staff, everyone had to sit close to each other, which made it very busy. The apple pie was delicious, by the way. It's all too big for me

Recently had dinner at Loetje Houten, appetizer was very tasty, service early in the evening was also excellent. As a main course I ordered a steak, which is served on a plate with a thick layer of gravy. You can order side dishes separately that are not even included in the price. The salad I ordered was really shocking. A pulled apart head of iceberg lettuce with minimal dressing and an egg cut into wedges. Anyway, where do you put this, because your plate is full of gravy... So let's eat from the salad container that 4 of us were trying to pick from. Service was nowhere to be found after the 2nd drink. Dessert could therefore no longer be ordered. When we finally found someone, we just asked for the bill. The dear young man acted as if he had no interest in life anymore and also seemed extremely grumpy. In short, for less money I can eat much better at another restaurant where they also have good service. I'll never come here again.

Waiter in training? Here you will learn everything you absolutely don't want to do! Full hall, atmosphere is reasonable to noisy. Possible on a busy evening. Start with a buratta and ask for vinegar and olive oil. About brings peanut oil. (Fortunately no nut allergy...) Feedback at the end during checkout with a colleague who notes "we have olive oil there". Enjoy your meal! Peanut oil on your buratta. Main course, can we have extra chicken liver with our steak? No, it's gone. Ok, can happen. Is there any steak with chicken liver worth the red? Yes! Cool! Other portions can be prepared mise en place, I'm looking forward to that. No chicken liver on my steak, but extra Champions, just not told at the table. So pay 6.5 euros extra for Champions. Perhaps I would have eaten the calf's liver? Dessert from Loetje on the table, enjoy it! No, it's gone. Worthless if you cannot manage or adjust expectations. "Is everything OK?" No question at checkout "how can we solve this? Should we take the chicken liver from? Get the bill twice?" In short, this is where you eat if you have allergies and want to die. Or if you want to pay for services that you do not receive. It was the first and also the very last time at a Loetje for me. Worthless catering. Embarrassing.

You can get by with it, food is okay. It is more of a kind of food bar where mass and cash register are central. Some staff members really do their best, but there is also a gypsy walking around who clearly doesn't feel like doing his job. It is really on the expensive side, you can eat at nicer places for 160.- with 3 people.

Steaks are fine, service has very little time and had to wait a long time. We had made a reservation and had to wait 30 minutes before we could be seated. Drinks and food orders were only taken after a long wait. Overall impression is very mediocre, poorly organized and/or understaffed

Waited an hour and a half, of which fifteen minutes upon arrival and the rest for the - standard - order. We already had two rounds of drinks before some of the side dishes were served. Steak in two pieces which was really less than the ordered portion and poorly cooked. Mentioned at checkout, you will receive an annoyed "my apologies". Things have gone wrong often enough for us at this specific Loetje branch.

We had high expectations, but unfortunately... Service was substandard, people did not come by to ask for drinks or the like. We both had 'De Roode Waard' which was with chicken liver and bacon. Steak was almost raw and not medium. We also had to wait an hour before we could order our main course, even though the biggest crowds were already gone. The gravy with the steak was just greasy and salty, you couldn't really call it gravy. Really very disappointing, we won't do it again.

Nothing new. Just a perfect piece of meat.

This is the 4th time I come to eat here. In the past this was quite a good restaurant, but unfortunately it is declining on all fronts. Nowadays it gives the feeling of a fast-food restaurant at a high price: The service is slow (waiting fifteen minutes before your first drink is requested, drinks that are not delivered, dessert 'forgotten') and the prices are really far too high for the quality (so you pay a lot extra for some fries with an overpriced main course) and experience. You really get the idea that this is a money machine. Too bad, but we won't be coming back to (this) Loetje.

Went again for lunch after 2 years and what a disappointment. It was very quiet and we were sent to less nice tables. Ultimately requested a table for 4 people. They didn't have many cocktails in stock. I also ordered a ball sandwich and it was simply frozen on the inside. So not even a fresh ball. The taste was also very bland. And it was served with loetje gravy, which I think is a shame with a ball sandwich. Regular flavored gravy would also pick up the flavor of the ball. No more bullshit for me. The prices are quite high. Rieview from 2 years ago: It has been beautifully renovated. Fresh conservatory! Easy parking. I had made a reservation and it was very busy. Friendly staff, helpful. And the delicious delicious steak. They have a nice terrace and nice places to sit. The prices have become very high.

Those steaks at Loetje are so delicious. It remains a good concept. But the burger was also very tasty, let alone the desserts. The space in Houten is spacious and tastefully decorated. It can be hectic if there are large groups. Then the conservatory is a better location.

Nice atmosphere, great food.. as long as you don't have a gluten allergy. Unfortunately there was gluten in the starter which made us leave with a stomach ache. While this was indicated.

Loetje Houten offers an excellent dining experience in an attractive environment. The restaurant is located in a beautiful and stylishly decorated building. The dishes are of the familiar Loetje quality: tasty and well prepared. The friendly staff contributes to the welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for those who want to enjoy good food.

If you like steak then you've come to the right place.

We eat here when we fancy a nice steak. One chooses the classic and the other chooses the garlic variant. With white bread to mop up the gravy. The mushrooms and onions that you can order are a nice addition. For dessert I can absolutely recommend the sticky toffee, but you should still have room for it, it is mighty! Furthermore, the staff was friendly and helpful. The only disadvantage may be that it is a bit noisy because it is always busy. Parking is free in front of the door, very nice!
