Loetje Leeuwarden in Binnenstad

The first Loetje I'll never return to. The gravy was cold within minutes, and so was the steak. This is because it's not served on a hot plate here. Maybe it's a nitpick, but when you see your neighbors getting something with their coffee and they've forgotten yours, the little things you notice after the steak are disappointing. I even mentioned this to the staff. "That's how we always serve it," was the response. I actually felt like I was being a nuisance.

It's so nice to eat here. Always good!

The food was delicious. I found the first bite of the steak with gravy a bit salty. I normally eat little to no salt, so it took some getting used to. After that, it didn't bother me anymore, and it became more delicious. The side dish portions are generous. The dessert was also very tasty.

The food is simple, not always well-cooked, and the price-quality ratio is poor. Upon entering, everyone was seated in the section by the windows, while the rest of the upstairs was practically empty. There wasn't much personal space, and we were crammed together at small tables.

The food was good, but the atmosphere wasn't great; it was a bit dull. So, again, the food was good. And in my opinion, there's not a lot of choice when it comes to food. The meat was super tasty, which is what they're known for.

I ate there for the first time last night. It was excellent! The steak was perfectly cooked, the gravy was delicious, and the side dishes we ordered were not only tasty but also more than ample. The service was friendly, knowledgeable, and pleasant. Highly recommended!

The service seemed rushed and didn't address our complaints. The steak was raw with a tiny layer of residue around it. We also had to wait over an hour for our food. Not recommended.

We received a warm welcome Saturday evening, and it was a good thing we'd made a reservation. The food was delicious, and my steak was truly medium rare. There was a wide selection of vegetables served in generous portions (where else can you find that?). Loetje's concept is that you serve your steak in gravy and get bread with it. I'm not particularly impressed with this concept, so I swapped my plate and left the bread. The desserts were also delicious. Serving coffee and dessert at the same time proved more difficult than anticipated. In short, good food, attentive service, though a bit expensive because everything has to be ordered separately.

Very good beef fillet!! We ordered the sauces separately. No problem. It's not everyone's cup of tea. The meat, cooked medium rare, was perfectly cooked!! A large portion of fries and a mixed salad are enough for two people. It was delicious!!!

Eerlijk is eerlijk de steak is goed. Erg jammer alleen dat de bediening ons verder na het hoofdgerecht volledig heeft genegeerd en vergeten. Dus ook geen dessert. Erg vreemd...

Fantastic food! Tip: don't take on more guests than the wait staff can handle. It was very busy but sitting for almost half an hour with an empty glass and no wait staff nearby, I think is not how it should be... too bad!

Made a reservation yesterday. Upon arrival we had to wait at the front door for a while. Several couples who had also made a reservation were sent to the bar because there was no place yet. When it was finally our turn we were also asked to take a seat at the bar to wait for a place. Lousy service. We left and no compensation was offered. We will not come again.

The food was fine and the waiting time was also fine. A fine experience for a steak.

It's a good place to go, but not for vegetarians. Nice juicy steak, gravy and bread to dip in the gravy. Nice and old-fashioned. Friendly service and within walking distance of the station.

We had a nice evening, but that was absolutely not Loetje's fault. The room was noisy, the music was at a dull volume and there was little noticeable atmosphere. The host clearly didn't seem into it — no enthusiasm or hospitality. And if that wasn't enough: at 9:30 PM, five minutes after our table had been cleared, we wanted to order another beer. The bar was already 'clean' and that was no longer possible. With a bill of 300 euros (for 4 people) you expect much more service and customer focus. This was disappointing and definitely not a Loetje-worthy visit

It would be even better if you had the option of whether the meat should be English or well done or whatever... This option was not offered to us, so only 4 stars and our table was dirty. It would be 5 stars if the 2 points, which of course is actually the case

Had dinner at Loetje last Sunday. The staff was nice. Unfortunately we got very sick after the steak…..

Update: I reached out and got a quick response! Very nice. The food was delicious, but way too salty for me. I had a stomach ache and heart palpitations for a day... The meat itself was good and the dessert was delicious.

Took a very long time, lazy waiters because it took a long time until they cleared the dishes and asked for a dessert menu. The rest of the food itself was good.

Booked at Loetje to end a fun day with friends at 6 p.m. Heard a lot about it, especially the steak. Now I'm not a fan of steak myself, so I ordered a chicken satay. It was gone. Then a Loetje burger? Unfortunately we no longer have those either. Okay, then the steak for me too, Classic tenderloin Bali with sambal gravy. At 7:20 pm we finally got our food. Waited for over an hour. My steak consisted of two small pieces. The sambal gravy was extremely salty, not spicy. I asked if I had gotten the right one, given the small pieces and the non-spicy gravy. It was just the Bali Classic, and it was 'Dutch spicy'. That's it. Steak not special. 1 star, for the service because there were apologies for the way the evening went. That's it, by the way. In short, very bad for a restaurant with apparently such a good reputation. I didn't get to experience it.

Unfortunately, our visit to Loetje Leeuwarden got off to a rough start. We made a reservation at 7:30 PM and arrived five minutes in advance. Still, we had to wait outside first, which was understandable. But once it was half past seven, there still appeared to be no table available. Instead we were allowed to sit at the bar, which wasn't ideal considering the late time and our hunger. After almost half an hour of waiting we finally got a table, and fortunately from that moment on the experience got a lot better. The service was smooth and friendly, and the food exactly met the expectations you would have from Loetje. The meat was perfectly prepared and the taste was great. All in all a mixed experience: a disappointing start with long waiting times despite our reservation, but ultimately a successful evening thanks to the good food and great service. Hopefully the reservation system will be handled better, otherwise it would be a reason to think twice about a next visit.

Delicious tenderloin steak with garlic sambal gravy. Unfortunately we didn't get that much bread, but 6 slices with 4 people. So there was a lot of gravy left over.

Are you kidding me right now?! Their garlic steak is so good - grab a side of green beans to round out your meal and you’ll be glad you came here.

We zijn hier terechtgekomen via een lunchdeal van AH. Heerlijk gezeten in de serre in het zonnetje. We konden kiezen uit 3 soorten ossenhaas. Wij kozen voor de sambal variant. Daarbij kregen we een lekkere salade en een ruime schaal friet. En ook gekozen voor een lekkere rode wijn uit Puglia. Onze (Engelstalige) gastheer was zeer gastvrij en attent. Al met al genoten van deze lunch. Zeker een aanrader!

We ended up here through a lunch deal from AH. Relaxed in the conservatory in the sun. We could choose from 3 types of tenderloin. We chose the sambal variant. We also received a delicious salad and a large bowl of fries. And also opted for a nice red wine from Puglia. Our (English speaking) host was very hospitable and attentive. Overall, I enjoyed this lunch. Definitely recommended!

Met recht de beste biefstuk (xl) met jus en knoflook. Ook door het dessert aangenaam verrast. Bediening ook prima in orde. Dit is zeker een aanrader en wij komen zeker terug.

Drinks dumped on the table several times without distributing. Steak made from 2 (lump) parts does not look nice on your plate. Ordered coffee with dessert. Received dessert only 10 minutes after coffee. We won't come back like this!

Nice place to sit. The world-famous steak was delicious, but I was a bit disappointed with only white supermarket slices of bread served on recycled crockery.

Wonderful place to go out for dinner with a team or some friends. Tip: the Bali steak.

Ate at Loetje last Saturday. When we arrived our table was not yet ready, which can happen of course. After a drink at the bar we were able to take a seat. The order was taken, but when it was served it turned out that a meal was missing. Before we could respond, the waitress immediately replied “it could happen”. I think we should say this and not them🤷🏼‍♀️. Bowls of fries and sweet potato fries were also brought, a bowl of sweet potato fries was later taken away (it was almost empty), it turned out to be for another table. Never do this, too bad. New ones have to be prepared for the other table. The missing meal was still being prepared, but this took so long that everyone in the group had already eaten. A coffee was offered as compensation, later the waitress indicated that she had consulted and that it could be dessert, on the house. Another employee came to ask if we wanted any more coffee, because they were going to clean the machine. You don't do this! We wanted 11 people to submit the final bill and this was no problem, great! Everyone had to pay €41, after receiving the invoice it turned out that the employee had rounded the amount from €40.23 to €41. It is not about anything, but as an employee you should not decide this yourself. The customer decides whether it will be completed. Still paid for dessert, this washes my nose. Loetje Leeuwarden never again!!!!

We had heard good stories about the Loetje restaurant, but unfortunately our experience was very disappointing. In the starter we found a piece of thread, a fragment of metal. After reporting this to the restaurant, we received no feedback. When paying, I asked again if there had been a response from the kitchen about the piece of metal in our food. The answer was that the supplier supplies ready-made carpaccio and that the restaurant had no choice but to apologize. However, these excuses were not made. In addition, waiter D. Davis showed no manners and treated us very rudely. After dessert we were also rudely sent away because the restaurant was closing. Moreover, the food was pricey and disproportionate to what we got. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for us; We will never come back here again!

Not that much to say if you know Loetje, it's just good, but not... Surprising? But that's why you go there, or at least, I do. You know what to expect and they deliver, it was really good, again.

Delicious food. The steak was perfect, delicious gravy, lettuce and sweet potato. One downside were the small wooden chairs.

10/10. For the tastiest steak you have to go here. Yes, you pay the top price, but you know that in advance. For that you get a divine piece of meat with velvety gravy. Meat so tender that it almost melts on your tongue, you hardly have to chew. I can talk about it for hours, you just have to experience it for yourself. Again: 10/10

They weren't open on time, but everything was super neat and spacious. delicious latte and the "country bread" (?) was super tasty. the chip shop is not a greasy meal and it comes with a large salad mix. almost everything is colored brown and that looks very nice. the toilets were large and spotlessly clean

Delicious and good quality meat. Service is friendly and the waiting time between dishes is between 10 and 15 minutes. The only downside is the lack of a 'bread board' as before.

Went there for the 2nd time and what a success again, good service and very friendly staff. I won't do it often because of the price, but that shouldn't spoil the fun. I will definitely come back again.

We had dinner here last Saturday. Firstly, they forgot about us so we only got our food after an hour and fifteen minutes. When we finally got our food, the meat and gravy were so salty that no one could dip it with bread and one person was even sick from it all evening. Very disappointing.

De verwachting was hoog maar het was erg matig, bieftuk met wat sambal oelek (de bali versie) dreef in een bord jus dat allemaal knetter zout was, de friet kwam op een bord in het midden met de friet in de mayonaise en ook te zout, de sla midden op de tafel en je moet zelf maar voor een bord extra vragen want ik ga er van uit dat niemand de sla in de jus gaat leggenj je kreeg ook een bordje met 10 sneetjes witbrood opgestapeld(waarom?) Zeker voor deze pijs viel het erg tegen. De bediening was aardig en snel.

Steak was good, as expected from Loetje. Quality was consistent with other branches. Whit bread was fresh and delicious. Burrata was outstanding. Service was a bit slower than usual, but I can’t tell if it’s always the case.

They completely live up to what they are known for. A super steak available in multiple sizes. Nice service too. The taste of the steak was a bit on the salty side for us. We like a pinch of salt, but I can imagine that other people find it a bit too salty.

We had a delicious meal during the Leeuwarden 2024 run. It is relatively quiet in the restaurant, but there is plenty of room to have a good conversation with each other. The food was delicious and the fact that soup is served in a cup with a handle is a big plus 10. Many restaurants can follow this example. Waitress extremely friendly and makes nice contact. Will eat here more often.

I had lunch here with the ah deal. My steak was cold. It felt like I was getting a steak straight out of the fridge. It didn't even feel lukewarm.

The steak was still cold on the inside, the gravy, if you can call it that, was as fatty as a snail and very salty, the fries were fine, but I won't come here again.

Tonight I didn't feel satisfied from eating out at Loetje. Normally super tasty, but now when I ordered a starter (I don't need a card, because I know what I want) roast beef carpaccio, I got regular carpaccio. Apparently the carpaccio with roast beef had been removed from the menu. Could have been mentioned when ordering, but now I got something I wasn't looking forward to. Steak inexplicable.... also mentioned at checkout about the steak and the disappointment of the carpaccio. Oh very annoying, I will pass it on....🤔. Well, what good is that... Loetje Leeuwarden, something to ignore from now on. I can find it elsewhere for less than this price.

Hier met een grote groep gegeten. Eten was zeker lekker en goed. Alles moet je wel los erbij bestellen helaas. Bediening was snel en goed. Locatie is super en vlak bij het station.

We enjoyed a delicious lunch here, right by the train station. Nice atmosphere. The lunch plate (12 oclock, I think it was called) and the salad were delicious.

Had a great experience with Loetje. The meat is really of top quality. Staff is very customer friendly. You will be helped quite quickly and you will also receive your order quickly. I do think that you sit quite close together in such a restaurant. I would recommend Loetje to increase the spaces between the tables so that the atmosphere is less chaotic. All in all satisfied!

The kitchen was already closed at a quarter to 9 because it was too quiet.

Hausgemachte Limonade schmeckt süß-erfrischend. Oreo-Cheesecake mit Sahne serviert schmeckt mächtig, aber gut. Insgesamt war es geschmacklich einfach, aber vollkommen zufriedenstellend. Das Ambiente innen über mehrere Etagen und verwinkelt- sehr apart. Personal sehr freundlich. Toiletten sehr sauber.

First in, last to get the menu, wait 45 minutes for food and then... two plates filled with burnt butter, what they call gravy, with a steak that has barely touched the pan, cold and raw. Mushrooms ordered cold and half raw, fries fried in old fat. Took 1 bite, sent the rest back. Once never again.

We would like to have a wonderful Saturday evening dinner at Loetje! Made a reservation at 7:30 PM because the walk-in was full. We arrive around 7:20 PM to register for our table, but it turns out that there are no seats available and that a seat will not become available soon. So we were asked to leave and try again in an hour. However, the moment we leave, a couple walks in who have not made a reservation (the couple gave this in response to the question whether they had made a reservation with the hostess) and are immediately offered a table! I immediately spoke to the hostess, she immediately indicated that they had made a reservation (we also mentioned that) but it was clear that she was lying. We have left and will not return here again!

Loetje lives up to the name when it comes to the steak! Wonderfully tender and well prepared with a delicious gravy. However, the price is quite steep for steak, especially when you consider that you really only get the steak on a plate with gravy. No vegetables, fries or anything else, just the plain steak with gravy....and a few slices of bread. If you want something extra, you also have to pay extra, these are not cheap amounts, even though the portions are large. The Loetje hamburger is fine, but for 20 euros you expect a little more than a standard, fine burger. The service is very friendly and correct, the atmosphere is also pleasant.
