The food was surprising and tasty, but the wine is really undrinkable. Tried several red wines, but none of them were good, and some were even undrinkable. So, a bad wine choice. The sangria, however, is top-notch.

Super cozy little place! Nice, cheerful atmosphere and friendly service. Many dishes that seem a bit standard, but still surprise in terms of taste! Unfortunately, the staff's knowledge and verbal presentation of the dishes and wines was somewhat limited, but this also turned out perfectly fine in the end.

What a wonderful, atmospheric place. Had a delicious meal. A small tip: the table wasn't cleared, so I put all the dirty dishes on the table next to me myself when dessert arrived. That could be improved, just like the amount of wine in the glass. It was very stingy, though. But that doesn't detract from the fact that the staff was super friendly and the wine was refilled well.

The food is fine, but it was a shame that the ribeye was much smaller than stated on the menu and is quite pricey. Unfortunately, we didn't click with our dining companion, but that can happen. My drink was taken away before it was even finished. All these little things made our experience a bit less enjoyable.

Super nice little restaurant; a real treat was the guitarist who plays on Wednesdays. The dishes were diverse, tasty, and prepared with care. Friendly service. The only downside was the excessive noise, so you need to keep that in mind.

Yesterday we ate at Lokanta Proeflokaal and chose the surprise menu for 4 people. The taste is fine, surprising combinations, and nicely presented portions. We found the portions a bit meager; tortilla consisted of 4 mini pieces. 4 half deviled eggs—serve something else. For 4 people, 9 prawns is not much; we missed a piece of bread with it (which we asked for), which is served with absolutely everything in Spain, and that would have completed it. There was, however, an abundance of Pimientos de Padrón. For €46.50, we felt this was asking a bit too much, considering what was served and the quantity. The location is nicely decorated. The staff were not as engaged in their work; they could be more customer-oriented. Also, when your drink is not what you expect and you share this. The Radley didn't taste like Radler... and it wasn't sparkling water either. We had expected more.

Lokanta Proeflokaal Tapas – Rotterdam Kralingen We dined at Lokanta Proeflokaal Tapas as a couple. Reservations are definitely recommended. The location in old Kralingen is atmospheric, and the restaurant has a cozy, authentic feel upon entering. Consequently, the first impression was good. Unfortunately, the food was a bit of a letdown. To our taste, the dishes were mediocre at best and quite pricey. For what you get, we feel the price-quality ratio is not balanced. We also had to wait quite a long time between the different courses, which meant the evening didn't run as smoothly as hoped. We had white sangria with it. We found it a bit bland and, frankly, not really special; it reminded us a bit of a ready-made version from the supermarket. Parking in the area is not easy, by the way. There is limited space and parking is paid. But then again, that is of course not really a surprise in Rotterdam. In short: expectations based on the atmosphere and appearance were higher than the final result. A pity, because the location and ambiance certainly have potential. For us, however, the food was insufficient to warrant a return. We will be skipping Lokanta from now on.

Nice, cute little neighborhood restaurant. The lamb skewers were delicious. The evening was a bit chaotic, but cozy.

On the first Sunday of every month, they host an open-bar paella event. This Sunday was Valencian paella, absolutely delicious and the whole experience was fantastic.

Ended up in this lovely little place by accident when another place nearby had no room left. Had dinner there for the second time tonight and it was top-notch again! The owner has a lot of passion for Spanish dishes, and you can really taste it! Not just standard tapas, but also fun and surprising combinations. A very cozy place with friendly staff. And definitely don't forget the restroom for a nice photo opportunity!

Where we had high expectations, it was unfortunately a huge disappointment. Once we ordered the first round, we were told after 15 to 20 minutes that the chicken was out of stock. The dishes arrived one by one, with so much time between them that the next dish had already been finished by then. In one of the rounds, we had ordered bread. This only arrived after +/- 30 minutes and was served last, which is quite unusual for something as simple as bread. Incidentally, this also happened with a bottle of water. We were asked several times if we were finished eating, while we were still sitting there waiting for dishes. By then, the chef was sitting on the terrace himself, so he could have put his apron back on for a moment. Once we received the bill, we were very bewildered by the amount. And as the icing on the cake, the bill was increased—rightly so, by the way—because a pitcher of sangria was missing. It would have been to their credit if they had provided this as a complimentary gesture. The price/quality ratio is very substandard. A total of 300 euros for 2 bottles of water, 3 pitchers of sangria, and small dishes with minimal portion sizes. The pitchers of sangria at 33.50 euros each tasted of supermarket quality. Unfortunately, not worth repeating.

Super nice place! With delicious food and friendly service.

The food was tasty, but not cheap (drinks in particular were quite pricey), and while the service was extremely friendly, it was disorganized. We had the surprise menu, but they frequently didn't know what we had or hadn't had. Given the many good reviews here, I think that, in that regard, we just happened to have an evening where things didn't run optimally. All in all, I think the price-quality ratio is a tad out of proportion.

The place looks incredibly beautiful and authentic. Nice atmosphere with lovely tables. There are nice things hanging on the wall. The food is special, and you have to like that. It combines unique flavors (think filo pastry with chicken, grapes, and apricot). The fries are nicely salted, and the cheeses and ham are very tasty with the bread and aioli.

What a lovely restaurant and a special place right among the people. Highly recommended!

You can order a surprise menu or individual tapas. We chose the latter, and they were delicious and served quickly. The atmosphere is informal. The wine selection is good and extensive, both by the bottle and by the glass. There's a nice and good dessert menu. On Sunday evenings from 7:00 PM, there's live music (guitarist). It enhances the atmosphere. The price-quality ratio is good. Note: this is not a "just throw and toss tapas place." The only downside... finding a (paid) parking spot is a bit of a challenge. Otherwise, highly recommended. Make a reservation to be sure.

A cozy Spanish living room tucked away in a quiet residential area. Charming decor and staff. Worth the discovery. The food, however, could have been a bit more adventurous and distinctive. The staff, atmosphere, and decor make up for that.

The food was seriously subpar and had absolutely nothing to do with Spanish food. A few pieces of pulpo floated in a bowl of unspecified oil with raw potatoes under a mountain of parsley, resembling a kind of oil soup with no other flavor except the overwhelming parsley flavor. The pulpo was tough 😬. The Gamba Ajillo was also tasteless without the ajillo (garlic) but with a mountain of parsley, which shouldn't be in it other than the black pudding... two pieces of about 3 cm around, probably 40 grams, with lettuce and a load of vinegar for 12.99. This has nothing to do with Spanish food.

The food here is truly subpar; eating at a junk food place like Cubanita is much better. Gambas al Ajillo has nothing to do with real Gambas al Ajillo. No garlic and no bits of cayenne pepper, just tasteless oil with loads of parsley. Pulpo was the absolute worst: half-raw potato chunks and very tough, flavorless pieces of pulpo in tasteless oil, again soaked with parsley. They said the food here was as bad as it is; it has nothing to do with Spanish food. And it's also quite expensive.

The venue is beautiful and intimate and has a great buzz from the people filling it. We arrived and we're shown a table, and while I understand the restaurant was busy, two servers were aware of our presence, yet after 10 minutes I had to ask for menus and drinks. This set the tone of the service for the rest of the evening, they were friendly and apologetic, but all dishes took long and the drinks more so. At one point we even received the dish of another table, which was pointed out to the staff. The food itself was good and wholesome but not great. We had a good evening, but not due to the efforts of the restaurant. I did have high expectations, and perhaps that was where I made the mistake. I do wish the establishment the best of luck, and I hope my experience was just a once off occurrence.

We were with my friends a couple of weeks ago. My friend had a hair in two ! of her dishes. Eventually waiters were very sorry and polite and we didn’t pay for one of the dish. But honestly, octopus was with A Lot of oil and not salty at all! When I asked for a salt, it turned out that they didn’t not have any , we got our salt at a tiny plate. Patatas bravas from air fryer.. seriously? If you were in a tapas bar in Spain don’t spend your time and money. It is at least 2 times more expensive than in Spain and very disappointing taste wise.

Lovely, charming place. Authentic Spanish atmosphere in a unique neighborhood. It feels like being in a Spanish village, with outdoor tables. The staff is passionate, as are the dishes. A live guitarist on Wednesdays completes the picture. Open from 4 p.m., it's also a great place for drinks. Reasonably priced. 🇪🇸

Nice place, very friendly service and good atmosphere. Delicious beer and fine wine. But fried patatas bravas (that is really not possible), shriveled green asparagus, black tiger shrimps which are actually regular shrimps. There was really nothing right, I missed the love for cooking and good food. We will definitely come back again but then just to have a nice drink with some bread (without alioli because that was garlic mayo).

After 10 years we went to Lokanta again. Still just as fun! You enter a cozy Spanish restaurant with a pleasant, somewhat diffuse decor. We are warmly welcomed and allowed to choose our own table. We decide to be surprised, and we have no regrets. Delicious tapas dishes are served, at the right pace! We drank Sangria, wine and a drink. Loving service. This tent actually deserves many more visits from people who want a nice evening. You can hear each other well and the temperature is pleasant. Of course you can also go there for a tapas snack and a drink.

We were here with 12 people and had a great time. It's not big, but that also makes it cozy. Nicely decorated. Delicious food and drinks. Friendly and pleasant service. It was a party, and we stayed until closing time 😁🍾🍽💃🏽🎶

Lokanta looks nice and is located on a beautiful street in Kralingen. I found the tapas mediocre, to say the least. Apart from the Serrano ham, nothing I ate was particularly special or truly delicious. The empanada was very soggy and tasted mostly of chemically squeezed honey. We ordered bread and Serrano ham immediately after our drinks were taken, and even that couldn't be served at the same time. The bread was long gone by the time the ham arrived (after we pointed it out), and then we ordered more bread to go with the ham, but it didn't arrive for another half hour (by which time the ham was, of course, long gone). We ordered meatballs, dates, patatas bravas, and piemontos de padron, and none of it was very good. The chocolate mousse was far too sweet and tasted mostly of sugar, and the flan was good but nothing more than that. The prices are relatively high for what you get. The service was really subpar. We will definitely not be coming back here.

Sorry but this was really a 3. Dirty, run-down mess of the interior of a flea market, the food was horrible. Bread beforehand was a Turkish bread! From 0.50 cents. I think it's really bad!

Small cute restaurant in the middle of Kralingen in Rotterdam. We asked the waiter what a surprise dinner was. The response was surprising dishes from the menu. We order and it was a disappointment with Peppers, Patata brava and we think that is a shame, considering there are many nice dishes on the menu. I would never eat a surprise menu there, because it is not a surprise at all and you spend quite a lot of money. Better a la carte than doing it. Just an addition, namely that we ordered a matching wine arrangement with this menu that would match the dishes that the chef had made. So a patata brava with a wine arrangement? don't make me laugh.

We had a very nice experience at the Lokanta Proeflokaal. Nice service, the place is beautiful as well. Plenty of options of tapas, with a good price and a nice taste!

We really enjoy eating here! Informal atmosphere, delicious tapas from a loving kitchen and a clear wine list with only tasty wines. And beautiful live guitar music. I recently celebrated my birthday party here with a wonderful group of family and friends. The group lacked nothing due to a great arrangement of snacks and drinks, put together in consultation, and not least because of the nice, hospitable service! Recommended!

Midden in Kralingen ligt dit leuk ingerichte en informele restaurant. Zodra je over de drempel stapt, voel je je thuis en de vriendelijke bediening zorgt ervoor dat het gevoel blijft! De tapaskaart is zeer gevarieerd. Wij kozen voor het menu, de porties zijn dan wel iets kleiner maar je krijgt wel een proeverij van maar liefst negen tapas! Het was voor ons een geslaagde avond en we komen hier zeker nog eens terug!

Als je langere tijd niet in Kralingen bent geweest, is dit een wel heel prettige reden om snel weer terug te komen. De tapas zijn echt heel lekker. Spaans zoals Spaans hoort te zijn: eerlijk, puur, pretentieloos en barstensvol smaak. En een mooie wijn selectie. Helaas niet meer de prijzen van vroeger maar zeker de moeite waard.

Gezellig, informeel en heerlijk eten!

Ik woon hier in de buurt en ben er afgelopen week voor het eerst gaan eten. Je krijgt best wel veel eten. Hou daar rekening mee voordat je gaat (ik had net iets te veel op voor ik erheen ging). Het is binnen heel gezellig en het eten is helemaal goed. Het is wel een beetje aan de prijs, maar er is gelukkig een loyaliteitsprogramma.

Een onondekte parel "voor ons" in het hart van Kralingen Gezellig klein kleurrijk zaakje met heerlijke tapas en de perfecte sangria. De kok kookt met passie en dat is te merken aan de heerlijke smaken van de gerechten Absoluut voor herhaling vatbaar Mijn complimenten

Op een sfeervol hoekje in Kralingen ligt dit behoorlijk Spaans ogende proeflokaal. Aan de kleine tafeltjes kun je je laven aan de gevarieerde kaart met originele tapas. Hoogtepunt: Iberisch Buikspek met sojasaus, chili, sesam en zoete aardappelpuree. Heerlijk! Meer op Tapasgids.

A tapas restaurant with nice friendly service. We had the surprise menu with many tapas. There were too many tapas with potatoes, too salty as well and the dishes lacked the real Spanish taste.

Leuk restaurant met lekkere tapas

Lokanta Proeflokaal is een Spaans tapasrestaurant in Rotterdam. Onlangs gingen we er op een zondagavond eten, mede omdat er dan live gitaarmuziek is. Lokanta biedt lekkere Spaanse hapjes in een knusse setting. We aten o.a. zeer smakelijke gamba’s al ajillo, heerlijke cabraleskaas uit de Picos, met liefde gemaakte ensalada rusa en pittige pollo piri piri. Toen wij er waren, was onze Garcia de Verdevique tinto de speciale wijn (aan tafel uitgeschonken uit een karaf). Je kunt bij Lokanta genieten van veel koude en warme Spaanse tapas. Een tip als je een aangename avond in een ongedwongen Spaanse setting wilt!

Tapas waren vrij prijzig voor de hoeveelheid wat je krijgt. Smaak was ook niet echt bijzonder.

Heerlijk high wine gehad , we hebben nog wat lekkere gerechten van de kaart toegevoegd en wat hadden een perfecte maaltijd met lekkere wijnen

Leuk verrassingsmenu met vele tapas. Niet alles even goed op smaak. Wel prima porties. Heerlijke sangria. Goede sfeer en vriendelijke bediening.

Met een teamuitje hier met 12 dames het verrassingsmenu gegeten. Echt super lekker gegeten! Ook hadden we diverse mensen met allergenen en een vegetariër, hiervoor waren prachtige alternatieve tapas gerechtjes bedacht. Hele gezellige intieme locatie met attent personeel, zeker een aanrader!

Met een groep van 11 meiden hier gegeten. Het eten was echt heerlijk! We hadden het verassingsmenu en er was veel variatie en het was ook meer dan genoeg. Ook de bediening was erg vriendelijk. Echt een aanrader! Wij komen zeker terug.

Heerlijk gegeten in een leuke sfeer.

This place is tucked in a beautiful area in Kralingen and upon entering, the interior is also very nice with minimalistic but decorations resembling Spanish culture. The menu itself is quite extensive with a good range of cold and warm tapas with decent prices. We ordered a variety of different dishes ranging from patatas bravas to Argentinian shrimps. Most of the dishes we received were very good tasting authentic with a little twist. I highly recommend the shrimps, the pimientos, and the mussels. However the empanadas were a big disappointment as they were tiny and also quite bland and were somehow almost as expensive as the meat dishes. In addition the patatas bravas were good but were quite different to what you receive in Spain so that also could have been better. Finally, we were receiving dishes one by one at the beginning which to me defeats the purpose of tapas which is to eat them at the same time so that should also be improved. Nevertheless it’s a nice place so I recommend to anyone looking for tapas place but do take my comments into account.
