L'Osteria in Omval/Overamstel

Even though it's difficult to find a place to sit on a weekend, the food is very good and quick, which is great with kids. They have a private playground right behind it, which is ideal, and the setting is pretty and inexpensive.

What enormous and incredibly delicious pizzas! My boyfriend and I usually get takeout, but the atmosphere inside is always cozy and inviting. Whether you stay in or take your pizza to go, it's always a pleasure. Definitely recommended!

The pizza crust is very good. It's thin but not so soft that it immediately folds, and it has the right taste as well. The reason I've given 3 stars is because of the nduja salami which was, first of all, not spicy at all, and second not spread in a good way. Most parts were without any salami and some had a little. So it was quite bland, and that for an 18 euro pizza. The size seems big, but it's really thin and I could easily finish two, and I'm not a big eater. So I don't mind the price, but the quality should be on par. Then as for service, I told the waiter about this, but communication was difficult, because the waiter could only speak English, and not that well, but also when I asked for something to compensate the taste for, such as a pepper, and I explicitly said not spicy oil, it took a very long time and he still came with oil.

We had a wonderful evening with 16 friends. Delicious food, great service from Benjamin. We'll definitely be back.

Worst pizza ever. I ordered Prosciutto e funghi. This is not Prosciutto, this is cheap ham from AH. A joke of a pizza. The service is bad. Had to wait a lot for the drinks, for the so-called pizza and for the dessert. Do not recommend this place to anyone.

Superpizza! Rarely eaten such delicious pizza, but also nice and big! Make a reservation, because it can be very busy....

Absurdly bad service at this place. Made a reservation in advance at 21:00. After fifteen minutes they finally came to take our order, 10 minutes later they tell us that they are closing at 22:00 and that this is the last round. Then we had to wait more than half an hour for our food. Food was fine, but nothing special.

Took more than 1,5 hours to get a pizza

Big and good pizzas. Dessert is good. Service service could be better and a bit more active. Also in terms of clothing style no uniformity. Serving dessert takes too long. Spaces are not very atmospheric.

Been there yesterday with my girlfriend and some friends , everything was fabulous , the vibe , the food , the wine ! Shoutout to Peter who welcomed us and been nice the whole time and also for Benjamin who took great care of us always smiling , he was outstanding 😎🤙🏽

I've been here three times during my time in Amsterdam. Overall, I think L'Osteria offers good value for money. I've been satisfied with the service on all my visits. Only the last time did I wait about 20 minutes for my drink order to arrive. Overall, L'Osteria is very popular because it's in a great location, almost right on the water.

Prime place for delicious (and very large) pizzas. Also the other menu options are good.

Delicious pasta and tiramisu eaten on the terrace outside. It is also very affordable: € 25 - € 30 p.p. for pasta, drink and dessert. Tip: pasta orechiette di manzo. Only downside I can think of was that there was quite a lot of cocoa powder on the tiramisu.

Had such a wonderful time here with a group of friends! The location has a pretty view, the service was friendly and the food was great, a good price as well for the portion sizes! Would definitely recommend for group bookings!

Delicious pastas, pizzas, starters and desserts

I liked the food and atmosphere. Staff were friendly but they gave me this impression that it was super chaotic for them. I had to actively call them every time, even when I wanted to order my first drink. I recommend making a reservation, maybe that was also why they weren't paying as much attention to me(I just walked in) There's also a clear segregation between people that had made a reservation and those who didn't. Other than that it was nice, the place is clean, staff were helpful and friendly. Most importantly, the food was great!

I thought I had ordered pasta, but all I got was... a spiralizer cuts thin noodle-like strips from zucchini, which are then cooked like spaghetti.

Good place to catch the last sun rays of the day. Pizzas are so big you can share. And they taste good. Staff and service are confusing.

Been here plenty of times and always had a really great time. The food is very tasty and the average pizza size is amazing for the price (please never change that) and staff are lovely too (can be a quite slow when busy but that's just the way it goes). Reservation gets you your seat immediately, yesterday I wanted to switch to outside and move the tab there; no problem at all. Our waiter was Benjamin D this time. I've not seen him before so I think he might be new but he's a great addition to the team. As always, the waiters/waitresses are really polite and attentive. The only reason I gave four stars for the atmosphere is that sometimes the music can be too loud for me. If you have to raise your voice for the person 1m away to hear you then it's a bit much. This only happens if you're seated underneath a speaker though. I don't have kids but there's a play area there so hyperactive kids can go there and be noisy without disturbing any of the other patrons. I heartily recommend this place to any and all. Keep it up guys!

The servers are very inattentive- you struggle to get orders in. Very frustrating. Maybe the place is understaffed..not sure.

Portions are huge. Be warned Tomato soup is enough for 2 people. Portions being huge is a positive and they were all very good and flavourfull!

Most tasteless pizza in years. Vegetarian pizza comes with a few pieces of vegetables. Eggplant not cooked. Dough is dry and has no taste. Disgrace. Amsterdam has many better pizza places: Pizzabakkers, Pizza Beppe, etc. In addition, the entire neighborhood is polluted with empty bags of haribo gummi bears that are handed out here.

Have eaten here several times and every time a positive experience. The food is delicious, mega large pizzas, pasta tastes good. Staff sometimes seems a bit indifferent, but today an extremely friendly, pleasant young lady who took care of our service. All in all another nice restaurant experience!

Would really recommend this restaurant, we hadn't made a reservation and though t we would give it a try, it was well worth it. We were seated as quick as possible, the host (tall slim male beautiful curly hair) was really friendly, the food was delicious and we felt the price was reasonable, we were sat outside, the vibe looked really nice inside. We were so happy that we went back 2 days later, but unfortunately with it being a Friday they couldn't fit us in, which is completely understandable! So we then ordered the food online to our hotel as take out. We ordered pizza, lasagna and cocktails

I wanted to give this place a 5 star review but left with a bad taste in my mouth. We ordered 3 coke zero’s and they didn’t ask us which size we wanted when they took our order. By default the Italian waitress gave us 3 big size cokes which are obviously more expensive and just too much for one person. Next time when taking our drinks please just ask if we want a small or big one instead of by default giving us the more expensive one.

From the moment we walked into L'Osteria, we felt completely at home. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, with authentic Italian vibes that made us feel like we had stepped into a little corner of Italy right in the heart of Amsterdam. The staff were incredible. Genuine, friendly, and full of that Italian charm. A special mention goes to Greta, who was absolutely wonderful: kind, professional, and always smiling. She made our evening extra special with her attention to detail and warm personality. The food, of course, was fantastic—delicious, generous, and full of flavor, just like you’d expect in Italy. I happened to stop for dinner during a business trip: restaurant manager affable and welcoming, finds you a table right away even if you haven't planned, really super! Very good pizza, low and gigantic and Metta.... Number one

They turned us away from walking in with a very rude attitude. We Bo oked for another day a week ahead they confirmed 4 hours before the reservation time and refused to add 1 person to the booking when they knew we had kids with us with the same very unprofessional rude attitude.

We had a lovely time at L’Osteria! I went with other six friends and all of us went home happy. The food is delicious - highly recommend the carbonara and the chocolate soufflé is to die for. Also, very friendly staff!

Waited for 20 min with hostess coming with mediocre food. Ordered food and it was slow while other tables received their food first. Only saving grace, is the staff are nice despite being short staffed and dealing with a slow kitchen.

I ordered a pizza vegetariana (the menu said: topped with various grilled vegetables and mushrooms). Then you get something that looks like a (dry) pizza margarita. Asking €16 and then being too stingy to properly top the pizza with vegetables.

I used to come here more often but certainly not anymore. Staff shortage is definitely noticeable. Mainly student restaurant. Share large pizzas, don't expect much more!

Shame!!! I had already ordered pizza and pasta from this restaurant, really good food, but sorry about the service! I wanted to order pizza to take away but I understand it was too busy. And it was said around 7:30 pm I can try it and then tried it around that time. This man says yes, you can now order again, but not to take away, but to stay and eat. I am very disappointed in this restaurant Pity!!!! Not good service!!!!

Luckily we had reserved. Just an hour later the bells were on the street. Despite reservations, it took forever until we were served and then we were missing a pizza... the food was good as usual, but the conditions there were totally overwhelming.

Service nice. Nice place. Salad was okay. Pizza totally lean topped with 4 sheets of ham and a few pineapples for this size of pizza. It's also cold until you're halfway through the pizza.

The interior is slightly dirty, the lid is very dirty, which means dust can get into the food. My pizza wasn't of optimal quality, but overall it was satisfactory.

The first time I went to this restaurant, I was alone for dinner and I was stunned by the sunset vibes and the gentle breeze that made the whole experience fabulous . Shoutout to Pedro, who took my order and delivered top-class service from start to finish. He was attentive, kind, and made me feel very welcome. Queued outside for a long time only to be asked to sit at the bar, we assumed to wait to be seated again, bar seats were terribly uncomfortable, nobody came so we ordered a drink while we waited ( the barman was great) , asked if we were going to be seated and were ignored, front of house was terrible service, we asked again for a table for two again and was told none available and that we were originally seated at the bar - to eat at the bar, we left.

Had an unforgettable experience today at L,osteria restaurant, thanks to Jose and Anna! The vibes were incredible, the views absolutely stunning, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. Jose , Hannah and Ana made us feel so welcome and taken care of—every detail was perfect. The food? Absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to come back!

The food is not delicious at all

Nice atmosphere in a quiet location. There is the food that you are used to at L'Osteria.

Delicious food. Large pizza that you can also have divided into 2 halves and a different type of pizza on both sides. Recommended for people who find it difficult to choose. Service could be a little better. Our drinks did not arrive twice after ordering.

I entered and I would say that the location is really beautiful, it also offers space outside with a good large garden. I'm a little disappointed with the service. I have to wait 1 hour for Vito and then receive two cold and not hot daisies. I would love to return and see if anything has changed.

Yes, the pizza is big...if you like blank dough?! The Pizza Marinara is actually a Pizza Margherita, on which 2 mussels and 2 mini squids were lost... And these were clearly identifiable as frozen goods. The tables are so small that you can never order two of these oversized pizzas with two people. We also had a table at the entrance and you had to be careful not to swallow while someone walking past stabbed you in the back. The salad a la casa consisted of old lettuce leaves with a brown edge (the rest because there was no lettuce) and the crayfish with macaroni came out of the microwave overheated and tasted of nothing..... An Osteria has to earn its name in Italy. This restaurant doesn't deserve the name. A vergogna for the Italian kitchen!

On April 5, 2025, we had a delicious meal in the evening after a reservation for 5 people. However, upon arrival we walked inside and the employee at the Bali downstairs indicated that we were there and that we had a reservation. We were abruptly told that we all had to wait outside, on a cycle path where cyclists cycle past very quickly and there was a lot of wind. After standing outside for 5 minutes we were brought inside, the tone had already been set for us. At the request of an employee, we were led upstairs where we were assigned a place. We placed our order and the food and drinks were delivered quite quickly, congratulations for that. After sitting inside for more than 1.5 hours. At a certain point, after having been inside for more than an hour, a lady (employee) came to our table with a bottle of water and wanted to put it on our reserved table, whereupon I said we had not ordered any water, she took the bottle of water again and was surprised. After dinner and a few glasses of wine, I asked for the bill. My eyesight is impaired, but I paid the bill by card based on trust. I asked for the receipt and received it. When I got home my wife said 'the bottle of water the lady was standing at our table that we did not order is also on the receipt' I was surprised and saw the amount of €6.95 for 3/4 liter of water. Quite expensive water but good. I like to pay for what I receive and what I order and always give a tip if everything went according to plan, so I also gave a tip here. I would like to see the €6.95 refunded to my account. I don't want to come across as a cheapskate, but I also don't want to pay for something I didn't order and receive. All in all food was good and so was the wine.

Empty tables and we couldn't stay

Nice terrace, especially if you come with children. Tasty pizzas, that's for sure! But not very cordial policy/service. Don't say anything in advance, but after 2 hours suddenly mention that you actually have a policy of a maximum of 1.5 hours on the terrace, while we just wanted to order more. Purely because there is a line? Yes, very annoying, but it is everywhere in Amsterdam when the weather is nice. Pushing one well-paying customer away for the next customer is a mystery to me. And that's fine, but will you mention it in advance next time?

We made a reservation for a big group and we had a very positive experience. Everything was arranged perfectly, and there were two servers just to serve us. The group menu was good and the timing of the different dishes was also great. Thank you for this lovely evening!

We had a big event with business partners and were searching for a dinner location. The team was very friendly and supportive, they prepared one room for more than 30 people within 90 minutes and served ala carte drinks and food very professionally! Thanks to the entire team!

Pizza too thin and dry for my taste, but it's nice and big. The service takes its time, I was served by 3 waiters during the evening, and all 3 seemed inexperienced. I had to repeat several times for the order, the cutlery that 2 people were missing, and other times for the napkins. Passable but nothing special 😴

This truly is the worst service and most disorganized place I’ve ever been to. It ruined our Sunday evening to come here because of how long we had to wait. We would have preferred that the host came out and told everyone in line that they were unable to receive our order due to a poorly run staff (which was the truth) instead of having us wait for 20 + minutes to place a takeout order and then wait another 40 minutes before they put our pizzas in the oven (which they only did with prompting from us). We were there for 1.5 hours in total for 2 takeout pizzas and during this time we watched their staff bickering with each other in front of customers in Dutch, Italian, Portuguese and English and chatting instead of helping with the busy restaurant. This was absolutely ridiculous waste of time and shameful that there was no offer to compensate for wasting our time like that. The only reason for no attempt for compensation is that every one there was in the same situation and the restaurant has normalized wasting their customers’ time and relying on a customer base from walk-ins from the waterfront. I HIGHLY ADVISE you take a short walk to another establishment and enjoy your evening. It’s not worth it.

Ran by teenagers that don’t know what they are doing and don’t have the authority to do anything. Pizza is good and big but you’ll wait 1 hour and a half before they even put it in the oven whether its take away or dining in. Terrible experience

Super big pizzas, thin crust but quite yummy. We went the first day it opened and it was super sunny, the terrace is super nice and the restaurant inside was beautiful. The staff was a bit overwhelmed as they had much more people than expected, but nevertheless the service was fast and super friendly!

Pizzas were massive, food arrived late but it was due to an error in the system neither us nor the staff could have accounted for. Staff member was very apologetic and kind and the food was lovely. Overall me and my partner loved every second.

Visited two nights. Pizza one night and Pasta the second. Portions big. Pizza massive. Sat inside and outside. Lovely decor and outside is a treat with a spring sunset by the amstel.

Service was terrible (0/5). Our group waited 15 minutes at the entrance before anyone even acknowledged us. When they finally did, they couldn’t find our reservation and said they needed to prepare a table. It took them a full hour to seat us. Once seated, we waited another hour for our food to arrive. Even when the restaurant was nearly empty by the end of the night, it still took 15 minutes just to bring dessert. There were also mix-ups with orders. For example, a cocktail called “Passion Fruit with Martini” arrived without any passion fruit. When we asked, the staff simply said, “It’s not in season.” Clever response… On the bright side, the bill arrived very quickly. The interior is nice, and the location is stunning. The food was decent overall: • Pizza: 4/5 • Lasagna: 3/5 • Tiramisu: 3/5 • Coffee: 4/5
