Lou Lou's Amsterdam in Burgwallen-Nieuwe Zijde

A hamburger (no sides...literally just the hamburger), a sandwich, and two drinks cost €44.50. It wasn't particularly tasty, and the hamburger was cold. It's a touristy restaurant. I don't recommend it. The music in the restaurant was too loud, making it hard to relax.

First, the food was far too cold, and second, it tasted of nothing. On top of that, the portion of pasta wouldn't even have been enough for one child. No thanks.

Went here for dinner as it looked liked a really nice place and food menu looked decent. As soon as we sat down, we were given the menu and we all decided what we we would have. Then waiter come over and started to take our orders. Then after the first 2 people had given their order, the waiter disappeared. He finally came back and started to resume to take orders, we ordered a club sandwich same as the other 2 had ordered, and only then to tell us they didn't do any club sandwiches after 4pm. So we had to rethink our choices. Finally orders were put in. Not long after another waiter came around to take our order again. Food we were given was absolutely horrendous, carpaccio salad was worst I have ever had. The rest of the food was just a discrace, wrong drink and food orders or double ups were brought to our table. And then one of the drinks we ordered was forgotten, we asked them to bring it. By that time some of the staff were talking in Spanish to each other, complaining about our table, not knowing that we had a Spanish speaking member in our party, who said something about it. When it came to pay the bill we had to double check as some items were on it, which we didn't order or again were doubled up. Worst customer service I have experienced in a long time, no interest from staff and food is terrible. I am not big on writing reviews but this place warrants is, as to inform other people to stay far away and spend your hard earned money somewhere else.

If you ask for a "regular" green ice tea here, you'll be met with a large lemonade for a whopping €7.50. After I mentioned this, the arrogant waitress responded, "You didn't ask for a small...!" Don't go there, it's very unfriendly!

Quick service... the Carbonara pasta wasn't anything special for an average portion, and €1.50 for two spoonfuls of Parmesan... In France and Italy, it's free.

An actual review not written by a robot. Food was horrible, incredible how someone can serve hot garbage at premium prices. Service was appalling and the waiter was rude. We were not the only customers who left their food uneaten. Had to eat elsewhere afterwards. I payed reluctantly out of decency but I urge any tourists to go elsewhere. The street is full with nice spots, don’t make the same mistake as myself.

We (3 adults) ate here at around 17:30 on Saturday. Food: was generally poor. Pizza bases were bought in. Caesar salad was drowned in cheese and strange dressing (not Caesar dressing). Salmon pasta was okay. Service: staff were generally polite and efficient. Atmosphere: was bizarre. I don’t know what vibe they are aiming for but the shouting, cheering and manic behaviour set us on edge. The music was far too loud. Toilets were clean but slightly messy.

Good food. Miserable waitress. Taking plates when food isn't finished. Very cold, glass door entrance is constantly left open and very uncomfortable in winter. Staff are loud and jeering to each other across the floor like they are rock stars. I would strongly advise not to go here if your looking for comfort. I'd actually go as far to say the staff are very irritating. Also food left short from the order. I'm not a Karen by any means. The experience was rubbish.

It couldn't be worse. The waiter was trying to be funny, but it wasn't funny. The prices were outrageous; I don't even know how they're allowed. And to top it all off, you order a coffee with a drop of milk, and they give you milk with a drop of coffee—but it costs €5. Unbelievable. That's where the coffee ended up.

A culinary adventure of a very special kind – who needs hot food anyway? If you've ever wanted to know what lukewarm pasta disappointment and pizza from the parallel universe of bad taste feel like, then Zou Lou's in Amsterdam is the place for you! My pasta pesto chicken arrived ice cold – probably straight from the fridge to preserve the aroma of disappointment. After a friendly reminder, it was replaced with a new portion of cold penne (I ordered spaghetti, by the way, but who pays attention to details?). On the third attempt, they simply poured hot water over it – voilà, now at least the despair is steaming away. The pizzas? A revelation! The sauce was completely unseasoned, the cheese barely melted – probably out of respect for the dough. A taste tribute to anyone who's never made pizza before. Even the cheapest frozen pizza seems like a masterpiece from Naples in comparison. Our polite reminders were responded to charmingly – with a tired smile. Of course, we had to pay the full price – service is still a priority here. capital letters! Conclusion: If you've always wanted to experience a culinary trauma in Amsterdam, you should definitely stop by here. Everyone else: Run. As. Fast. As. You. Can.

Yesterday was a special birthday for my friend in Amsterdam we think about let go to have some drink and eat we have red wine and steak in is was un eatable The meat has putrid smell. So terrible service 😢 we say cant eat and we want to change other one they say finish ok we take chicken was OK after we ask for the bill what is this!! We ordered a wine, basically just to go to the bathroom. Then a waiter came over and said, "Hey, why are you two only drinking one wine? Come on, I'll bring you another one." We didn't agree, and a short time later, we were given a second one. Of course, it was on the bill. That was absurd to me, because we hadn't ordered the second wine.

The waiters are crazy but their warm attitudes cover up any flaws.

I once wrote a good review about this place, but could not remember visiting, so I decided to try again. I’m certain I was not talking about this place, because WOW the food was BAD. I’m an egg’s Benedict lover and will be the first to admit I can be picky and I seek quality. First of all this place does not strike you as having quality food. The ambience is not bad, it just screams tourists. The service was friendly and rapid, and the eggs looked okay at first- I noticed in other reviews and especially the pictures that the company themselves have uploaded, that they included salmon eggs as topping- I had none. Which is an added luxury and not listed on the menu, so I could not complain, though I must say I was exited in expectation to try this combination. The eggs were DROWNED in sauce. And I love my hollandaise sauce, but yeesh. Worst of all, one of the eggs was overcooked and rock solid, but to my surprise the other egg was undercooked and dripping in raw egg whites. I did not touch the dish. Had no confidence to point this out to the staff, though they also did not notice; my appetite had left and my time for lunch had ran out, so I decided to pay and make my leave. The coffee was okay.

We spontaneously went there for dinner. I can honestly say the pasta was the best spaghetti I've ever eaten. The music 🎶 was a bit too loud for conversation, but otherwise a really great and beautiful restaurant. The wings were also incredibly delicious 😋. Unfortunately, the staff seemed a bit overwhelmed with the service. The food sometimes remained at the counter for up to five minutes after being prepared in the kitchen before it was served. We were seated nearby and saw it being prepared in person, but we still think the restaurant is definitely worth recommending.

Great service from a wonderful Italian host and a friendly chat with a guy from Bilbao. All were excellent, however; they stood out. Thank you, we'll be back!

Came here for brunch before getting our train to the airport. Great location, especially if you like people watching! Menu had enough choice on there for us which was good. Really enjoyed the tuna melt. Service was really slow though, we saw a lot of people getting served before us despite us being there a while before them.

The menu said the chicken came with a side, so I ordered sweet potato fries. When the bill came, I was charged €6.50 extra. The server admitted it happens “all the time,” but no one mentioned it when I ordered. If it’s not included, the menu or staff should clearly say so. The language is not ambiguous-it says "served with a side," which is not confusing to anyone fluent in English. I hope this isn't deliberate trickery.

A complete disaster, the prices are out of control. €11 just for a plain pizza with nothing on top. And at least if you want a Margherita, it's €15. Not to mention the waitress was incredibly rude. Once I asked how it worked, she didn't say anything, and while one of them was talking, she ran off to another customer. Very rude. I repeat, this is a place that will rip you off without you realizing it. You pay €20 for a €9 pizza.

I had a very disappointing experience at this place. I came in hoping to enjoy a good tiramisu, especially since it’s located near the central station and convenient for my way home. Given the number of Italians and Mediterranean people around, I expected something authentic. When the server brought my tiramisu, I was immediately skeptical. It was served on an oversized plate with the corners filled with slagroom (whipped cream) to make up for the emptiness of the dish. The tiramisu itself was drowning in chocolate and topped with even more slagroom. When I scraped off the excess, I realized the actual size of the tiramisu, without exaggeration, was barely 3×7 cm². But if that were the only issue, I wouldn’t even bother writing this review. The real problem? It wasn’t a tiramisu at all. They might as well call it something else, but definitely not tiramisu. Instead of being soaked in coffee, the French cat tongue biscuits were drenched in an overly sweet syrup, making the dessert unbearably sugary, especially combined with the excess chocolate on top. The best part of a tiramisu, the mascarpone cream, was completely missing. In short, this dessert could be anything except tiramisu. I barely managed to take two small bites before stopping. I could immediately feel a sugar rush. It was way too sweet. I called the server to express my concerns, but in the end, I still had to pay for something that neither tasted good nor resembled what I ordered. A complete disappointment, I felt like I had been scammed. I’ve had much better tiramisus in the center, even at lower prices. One place I highly recommend is Volare: Volare on Google Maps. It has a great vibe, good drinks, and delicious dessert, plus excellent food options.

I had breakfast with my wife and it was amazing! I took a pancake that was freshly made and spectacular look and taste, she took English breakfast and also was super. The guys working there are so nice. Next time in Amsterdam I'll come again.

Initially, the entertaining waiters served us a sadly undrinkable, body-warm Chardonnay for €9 a glass. Upon request, we were given ice, which unfortunately failed to dispel the pronounced acidity and a certain bitterness. We politely asked the waiter if we could have a different wine, or if the bottle had perhaps been open for a while. Any friendliness vanished, and our request was met with a "different taste."

We came across this bar by chance one evening for an aperitif. So well received and fun atmosphere with very nice music as we like....we went back the next evening for dinner. The waiters recognized us and greeted us!! We had a great time. Small downside, prices a little high (€10 a beer) but worth the detour.

If you like soggy pizza and loud , obnoxious staff then this is the place to go! One particular guy who shouts across the restaurant and was quite rude. It's extremely off putting when you are having a quiet meal and the waiter is power walking around, making silly gestures and shouting really loudly, drinks slammed down on the table to us. Came across very bizarre behaviour and we couldn't wait to get out of there. Pizza base was so thin when you pulled off a slice, it just flopped and the toppings fell off . Base was also very soggy, like the plate had been a little wet when the pizza was put on it or something. It's a shame because interior is nice but that's the only positive I have about it I'm afraid.

Popped in on the off chance and unfortunately wouldn’t return! Hot chocolate was like warm, we ordered x2 bacon Benedict at first presentation looked good but both eggs were over cooked and bacon and the toast was all rock hard! My partner said it was swimming in sauce! Didn’t feel a welcoming place.

Visited here at Zou Lou's Boudoir on a Saturday morning after looking for somewhere reasonably priced to eat. I was hesitant to try here at first but was immediately impressed by the large interior which was very stylish and well presented inside. This turned out to be a great setting for morning breakfast. The service was great from the moment of entering and we did not have to wait long for food to be delivered and the staff were friendly and welcoming. I had the English breakfast which I couldn’t fault, it tasted great and was filling. My partner also enjoyed her food here. If you are passing by and looking for a good overall breakfast experience then I would definitely recommend trying here for food or even a coffee and watch the people of Amsterdam pass you by

This is a stylish restaurant with reasonable prices and enough food options to choose from. The waiters have a fun sociable service which makes the atmosphere there pleasant. I ordered the ‘English Breakfast’ which taste wise was good but wished the beans were presented separately from the eggs and sausage instead of stacked up on each other. I think with how nice the interior looks, the way that a restaurant’s food is presented should as well and it wasn’t. Overall this is a good place for a dose of good vibes whether it’s breakfast, lunch or dinner but also a good safe option for dates and casual dinner

We had dinner here last Saturday with a friend's birthday and the food was excellent and the drinks too. [very pricey]. We wanted to surprise our girlfriend with a firework or something. We had indicated to the waiter that it was her birthday and if they wanted to do something [some singing]. then the lights went out and the waiter came with some fireworks and a plate with a triple pancake with ice cream and chocolate on it. We already had lunch so we didn't eat it all. we assumed that this was a favor and would not cost us any money because we never asked for more food. [we also work in the catering industry ourselves, so we know how birthdays normally go]. but to our surprise the pancake was on the bill. This dessert cost 30 euros that we never asked for. we asked about it and the English service could only say 'we do that here'. We just paid and left, but what a ballet place this is. just force someone to pay 30 euros for a dessert. besides the already overpriced food and drinks, what a scam!

A beautiful atmosphere with the DJ and the waiters who set the mood. We had a lot of fun. However, price-quality not justified. Sparsely garnished pizzas, bland carbonara. A friend had to pay for all the food and drinks (so for 10 people). The next day when looking at the receipt, surprise! Prices higher than the card (be careful of the price of water).

Without a doubt, one of the best experiences we had from this place was the customer service from Oihan, a very attentive, helpful and, above all, very outgoing and dynamic waiter. shows and laughter before a good breakfast, an ideal way to start exploring the charms of Amsterdam. the food is good, we spent New Year's Eve there spontaneously. We arrived earlier before the party started and had dinner. We had to ask about 5 times where our drinks were, we were already finished eating. In the end the waitress told me to go to the bar myself. I went with the bill and the barista said that actually the waiters should bring the drink, he also didn't understand why I had to get a drink that I had ordered and already paid for before the party. A bit unfair that we also had to pay for the restroom (I was earlier there and didn't have to pay for the restroom, but okay). The waitress said that as guests already here, we didn't have to pay (??) but we had to. It was only 1€ no big deal, but when my friend went shortl after me & the restroom attendant who worked there said 2€. not okay!
