Subdued atmosphere of a Sunday evening, need of calm after a hectic weekend, the owner advised us on excellent genevers from a very beautiful collection, it was for us the ideal place to end our stay in Amsterdam. I will return without hesitation

Cozy pub / bar with good beer and atmosphere.

I randomly entered to drink and rest and was pleased. Especially in Turkey, bars are designed as if to say “Drink your beer and go”. Here, thanks to the soft and different seats and decorations customized according to the bar owner’s taste, I felt the spirit of the place and drank my beer peacefully. Since it was a small place, the stairs going down to the toilet were very narrow, but the toilet was relatively spacious and clean. There are candles lit with kerosene on the tables.

Can't beat the former Olofspoort.

Great little bar. Not the oldest bar. But a very old building. The girl behind the bar was very chatty. Very friendly and a great advert for friendly Amsterdamers. Do yourself a favour have a drink or two.

Fantastic old school bar that's open late till 3AM

Estuve en Amsterdam durante un día como parte de un crucero, y después de una tarde de explorar la ciudad, mi esposa y yo tuvimos tiempo de matar antes de nuestro autobús de regreso a la terminal de ferry. Sugerí una cerveza de última hora y recomendar Louis Bar ya que estaba cerca de donde nuestro autobús iba a recogernos en la estación central. Encantador pequeño bar local auténtico, para un lugar tan céntrico, es tan relajado y estábamos encantados de sentarnos un rato y pedir un par de cervezas. El bar era genial y tomó nuestras órdenes. Precios razonables y cuando volvamos de nuevo a la ciudad, nos dirigiremos aquí de nuevo.

Nice drinks with friends and a nice old atmosphere.

Incredibly rude old woman behind the bar - wouldn’t recommend if you aren’t Dutch! Visited here for a few drinks last week, we ordered from our table as it was busy and a nice woman behind the bar came over to us and took our order. My friends and I ordered different things and when we later went up to order more drinks and paid parts of the tab it was fine. When we went to leave at the end of the evening and tried to pay the rest of the tab, a different woman, old, was behind the bar and gave us a tab and total that was not correct, we tried to explain that the total and drinks weren’t right, even my friend who is Dutch explained in Dutch, but she got really angry and started yelling at us infront of everyone, telling us that WE were wrong, and to just pay it, even though it was €20 over what it should be. She wouldn’t listen to us, so we gave up and paid and left. Was really upsetting and overpaid far too much! Absolutely wouldn’t return, and would not recommend for tourists at all

A gem of a pub in the red light district. Authentic atmosphere in this building from 1618. Before that, there was a city gate built around 1370 on this exact spot. Deep in the basement you can still see a piece of the old gate. Had a cup of coffee with a sandwich prepared with love by an elderly lady who knew a lot about the history. Must see!

Just walked in here a month ago, nice real Amsterdam ladies behind the bar. Like a warm bath! Went today for the 2nd time and once again great service!

A very local atmosphere, and very good service and prices

Didn't eat here, but nice beer. Only 3 stars, as my first round was €39, second round €28, third round €33. All for the same beers. I didn't want to cause a fuss but it's best to enquire on the price before ordering.

This is a wonderful place. I visited here with one of my friends from college and we had an amazing time. The owner is amazing. La “dama principal” nos dio la bienvenida a los dos en cuanto entramos, y no podría haber sido más hospitalaria👌 Louis Bar es conocido como el pub más pequeño de la ciudad, pero ahora es nuestro mayor favorito, y al que haremos una línea de abejas cuando estemos en Amsterdam🍻

Friendly welcome from the lady behind the bar who explained patiently which beer was on each tap. I tried the wheat beer and the dark beer. Both were lovely. My wife accompanied me with a soft drink. As with other pubs I visited in this area, it had a nice charming atmosphere.

Very nice small traditional bar with good beer. It's great to hang around after work and enjoy the Amsterdam nightlife.

The barmaid who made us try Genever was so nice, she was a lovely person. The interior is amazing, overall very nice bar.

Very nice pub with a great atmosphere and nice staff. Here you can also sing loudly and crookedly. If you like, you can also store your own bottle of whiskey, which can be personalized, see pictures. A must for me from now on when I'm in the city.

We stopped in for a drink. The bar has a very nice decor and the waiter was very friendly and attentive. As a snack we had Poffertjes, which were also good and tasty. We'd love to come back.

The setting is very friendly, however the welcome is not very warm, and above all, we are charged 10 cents for the toilets.

Terrible customer service on site. The lady was very rude to us. He answered us badly, gave us beers that we didn't order and rudely said "F...n girl" to one of our companions. I don't recommend at all.

We ended up visiting the bar while looking for a place to share a moment with our local friends, being the only remaining open bar that night. Important to say we DID NOT enjoy the dependant´s treat, She was RUDE, OFFENSIVE and even felt like we were treated with RACISM. A place that LACKS of customer service, training, variety of beers and food.

El personal femenino más rudo que he conocido en toda mi carrera de viajera (y he estado en todo el mundo). El sistema de pago se rompió y la pobre joven que trabajaba allí no pudo arreglarlo. La anciana que trabajaba allí no la ayudó al principio, sino que continuó hablando con un invitado masculino. Después de varios intentos el viejo nos dijo que "hay que ir al cajero automático". Al mismo tiempo, otros huéspedes entraron y también dijeron que no tenían dinero en efectivo. También se les dijo que fueran al cajero automático. Todos dijimos “pero no es nuestro problema si no podemos pagar, no queremos retirar efectivo por una tarifa alta”. Entonces la señora empezó a GRITAR que "TAMPOCO ES MI PROBLEMA, TIENES QUE IR AL CAJERO AUTOMÁTICO". Una vez más dijimos que nos costaría tanto como a la cerveza retirar dinero. Para nuestra sorpresa ella entonces gritó "¿SABES CUÁNTO ME COSTÓ TENER UNA MÁQUINA DE TARJETAS? NO ES MI CULPA SI NO ESTÁ FUNCIONANDO". ¿Cómo diablos puede el dueño de un pub ser tan grosero con los huéspedes? Si tienes este negocio necesitas prepararte para cualquier tipo de disturbios. ¡No culpes a los clientes! La pobre muchacha del personal se paró en el fondo y no dijo ni una palabra. Me da pena que tenga un gerente tan malo. La máquina de tarjetas comenzó a funcionar durante esta "conversación" así que le pagamos, pero hombre, solo desearía haber dejado a esa horrible señora gritando. Eres una vergüenza en mi opinión, tratando a los turistas como basura. ¡Estamos pagando para que pueda pagar su alquiler! ¡Hazlo mejor y trata bien a la gente!

My favorite cafe in Amsterdam. Super cozy! Very friendly help from a bartender several times. Once he had some problems with the carbon dioxide that I didn't even notice, and I immediately got a beer on the house.

Bar in a historic building from 1618 that is worth visiting. Very good music and very good atmosphere.

Chill place, nice bartender. The bar is not so loud and decorated nicely. You should definitely try the geneva liqueur if you go here it is very good.

Small bar tucked away on a street corner. Snug, friendly and helpful service. Asked about the different bottles of 'Geneva liqueurs' displayed on in a glass wall cabinet and got great advice on what to try!

Have some beers. Service is a little too comfortable. It just takes a while, even if it's not full. I like music from the 80s and the ambience, a bit dark, slightly dusty, with interesting photos on the wall, suits my taste.

Good bar €6.40 for a pint of Amstel

Treated very antisocially. 2 of us went to the toilet and 2 stayed behind. The lady at the bar had apparently asked twice if those left behind wanted something to drink, but they indicated that they wanted to wait until we (who had gone to the toilet) had returned. When we got back and were looking at the menu, she came by again and indicated in an unpleasant tone (to put it mildly) that we could come to the bar to order. At that point we decided to go. Then she told us that we could pay for the toilet (understandable). We paid, but before we walked out the door, one person was called a moron. So all in all I would say: if you're looking for fun, I certainly wouldn't go here.

Treated ridiculously by the bartender. After we sat down, the lady immediately came over to take the order, but I indicated that we still needed some time. The second time she came by (after 5 seconds) I made it extra clear by saying that the rest of our group was still in the toilet. Then we were told that we had to order at the bar. When I left I was briefly called a moron. Strongly advise against coming here.

The worst restaurant we have ever seen. Today, I was with my boyfriend at this bar, wanting to have a drink. Before ordering, we needed to use the bathroom, and suddenly, a ridiculous man came up and said, ‘I am running a bar, not a public toilet.’ He did not even want to listen to us; he was mad as hell?????!! I think it was the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen and faced. Do not go to this place; it would not be worth it.

Really cool little pub with cozy as atmosphere straight out of a fantasy film e.g. the Hobbit or Harry Potter. Best place to hide away from cold and rain to warm up with a drink. Great service and friendly welcome too. Make sure to pop in for a drink when in Amsterdam. Will definitely go again next time.

I had the pleasure of visiting Louis Bar recently and I was absolutely blown away by the incredible atmosphere, the friendly staff, and the delicious cocktails. The staff at Louis Bar is some of the friendliest and most attentive I've ever encountered. They were eager to help us find the perfect cocktail to suit our taste, and they were always happy to answer our questions about the bar and the city. I was particularly impressed with their knowledge of the local spirits and liqueurs. And of course, no visit to Louis Bar would be complete without sampling their cocktails. They have an extensive menu of classic cocktails, as well as some innovative creations that are sure to tantalize your taste buds. I highly recommend the "Louis Fizz," a refreshing concoction of gin, prosecco, and elderflower liqueur. It's the perfect way to start or end your night. Hands down best Wednesday of my life

The place could seem welcoming...that's without taking into account a cold welcome from the particularly detestable manager who makes it clear to you that you are not welcome while we normally consume...you have to be a regular to consume at home? Probably bored with the tourists who are their source of income given the neighborhood....go your way!

A real pub, loud music, everything a bit simple, but from the heart, food comes from the neighboring restaurant, sanitary facilities have to be visited before you have 10 beers, beware of the steep stairs!!!

Called in here last weekend, what a lovely little place,very small but the bar lady and the locals were fantastic they all spoke to us and made us feel at home. Will definitely call in here the next time we visit Amsterdam

What a lovely welcoming bar this was. To be fair the whole of Amsterdam had the same vibe, but this pub was terrific. The girl behind the bar even created a Spotify playlist to suit all the visiting Brighton fans. Just the sort of place we were hoping to find in thus terrific city

Need a little break from walking so much in Amsterdam and found this bar along the way. Had a warm greeting at the door by the bartender and then my eyes feel on the cake stand with apple pie in it. It was magical and not overly sweet. I love how laid back and mellow this place was.

Old vintage atmosphere, just love every bit of the place! Cool beers, amazing local drinks, friendly service and the bartender is really a nice guy. A must stop definitely, precious bar!

A cool hole in the wall little treasure for a drink and a chat. You could discover a lot about the precursor to gin here but we were just here for a couple. Knowledgeable and helpful staff it could be a place for great discoveries.
