Cafe de Druif in Nieuwmarkt/Lastage

It looks ancient compared to other legendary pubs, but it is certainly a hidden gem for lovers of the authentic brown pub.

A classic Amsterdam bar experience. Seating was very tight and we had to get the staff’s attention to order, but the historical charm made it a fun pit stop to get out of the rain.

We entered and it was very quiet. No one greeted us. We sat down at a table, and no one approached us. After 10 minutes, we left. Very unfriendly customer service.

A classic in Amsterdam. Sitting firmly between Oost and Centrum, the beer selection is not huge but ON POINT! The snacks are perfectly Dutch and perfectly prepared and the service is genuinely local and attentive.

Old style cafe. Very nice interiors. Feels old. Came in around midday on a Sunday and it was quiet and had the feel of a local bar. The beer was in excellent condition and the bitterballen tasty really good with it. Staff was very helpful and efficient.

This bar is incredible: everything is chilled: the atmosphere, the people, the bitterballs. Highly recommended!

We really liked this place. We were looking for something more local, without so many tourists (although we are, hehe), and it did the trick. Friendly service, a quiet area, ideal for chatting over a few beers. Prices are standard for Amsterdam.

Beautiful old Amsterdam café. The staff behind the bar (present in large numbers compared to the number of customers) is a huge blemish on the evening. Behind the bar you can hear how they are making fun of customers. Furthermore, remarkably unkind and haughty in contact. I wouldn't return here anytime soon because of the staff.

It's a pretty good bar, I ordered eggs and they were the best I've had in a long time, the fries were very good and the drinks were great, I recommend it

I love this bar! Dark, rich wooden furnishings, sparkling gas chandeliers and antique barrels lining the walls, giving the customers a peek into De Druif’s long history as a bar and distillery. Very friendly staff who can pour the best pint in Amsterdam! Great terrace outside. Amazing central location without the crowds. A true find!

There were some very drunk and loud guests inside, drowning out everything and everyone. This is very annoying in a small business with difficult acoustics.

Super cafe. Good service and beautiful. It's a shame that there are all parking spaces on the square in front. They ruin the atmosphere of the square. Should the catering establishments join forces to make the square a little greener without parking spaces?

Very nice place with very nice people behind the bar

Very small and quaint bar, didn't have a chance to try the food but the staff and patrons were very friendly. Recommended stopping by after visiting the area's museums. The bartender did mention that it gets pretty busy on Thursday and Friday evenings.

A beautiful, friendly cafe where the personality of the staff shines through in the atmosphere. If you have to donate your money to the beer brewer somewhere, then this is the place.

We stopped for a quick drink since it was so close to our airbnb. Good selection of beers, only a couple wine options.

We sat comfortably on the terrace while enjoying coffee and tea on the way to Artis. Definitely worth repeating.

Supported during Corona time. I was there tonight. Just read the Parool with a coffee. The coffee tasted good.

Friday evening May 31 '24. What a disappointment compared to the atmosphere and cordiality when the old owner was still there. If you want unfriendly types behind a counter who cannot smile and who find it difficult to look you in the eye when you order something, let alone just give you a normal welcome, this is the place for you. I don't care if you're a yuppie, worker, import or born A'dammer... what matters is that you just have your normal courtesies - especially if you're worth it - when you run a pub. And the men and women didn't have that at all on this evening. Aren't you Mattie - I am a guest in a pub with history where there should be no room for self-righteousness and arrogance.

Went here for King’s Day - so might not be very accurate the rest of the year, lol - they know how to throw a good party! Great music, samba and brazilian funk, and great sandwiches too. We had a blast! Thank for for organizing a King’s Day with good music and amazing vibes.

This was once a nice neighborhood cafe, now it's full of screaming yuppies. What a disappointment.

This is a little gem in Amsterdam. Cafe De Druif is what the Dutchies will call 'een bruine kroeg' known for its 'gezelligheid' aka cozyness. I was happily surprised that the guests were youngsters, from the neighborhood but also tourists. A very nice blend of happy people enjoying the genever, beers or a good glass of wine. If the sun is shining, this cafe has a large terrace outside. Enjoy!

Too bad the four owners have no time for the customers. But, yes, they can ask why they haven't been there for years. Can they just think more about how they treated us?

Cosy, intimate café. Not suitable for spontaneously walking in with a large group, it is far too popular for that. Very nice to taste the liqueur here!

First of all, nothing but praise for the new owners who saved the café. Since Ron left and it was taken over by young owners, the place has been buzzing. It is a lot more cozy and the authentic appearance has been preserved. Perfect place to taste gin or sit in the sun. Staff is often nice. It is always nice when the owners are there, although I have sometimes received less pleasant help from 'friends of'. What's great about the location is that most tourists don't come to this café because of the busy street just behind it. What I think is a shame is that this is not a place where you can have a beer and chat with new people. It often remains our own bubble and if you only come as a man you are looked at a bit strangely, which club do you belong to? In the past six months I have noticed that this is decreasing and there is an increasing number of mixed audiences Hotel Homeland, for example, has that atmosphere and feels authentically warm. That would fit well here and provide even more customers. A live band outside in the summer would also be great on this square. What would further improve the experience is the seating outside. It looks nice, but it is not very comfortable. A tip for the owners is to organize more accessible things. Beer Friday, pub quiz, bringing out more information about the grape. It's busy, probably why the above hasn't happened yet, it would make the café even more attractive for me to come. All in all, praise for what has been achieved, keep it up

Very nice place to have a beer. They have several types. It is the oldest cafe in Ams, from what they explained to me, and the decoration is in keeping with its age. Very nice to meet. Young and bustling atmosphere.

One of the best brown bars in Amsterdam. You shouldn't suffer from claustrophobia because it fills up quickly. But oh how nice it is there

One of Amsterdam's nicest brown pubs on the site of an old jenever and liqueurs distillery. A fantastic range of delicious spirits and speciality beers. Not to mention the hard-boiled eggs on the bar that confirm the old brown pub identity.

Het is eigenlijk een buurt café Een van de oudste cafés van Amsterdam met een historie en verhaal. De oudere generatie heeft er de mooiste herinneringen aan. Prachtig interieur, een authentiek bruin café, niet groot,heel intiem. Er is een kleine trap naar boven waar je ook apart kunt zitten. Er zijn vele soorten bier en sterke drankjes Verschillende merken jenever bv. Onlangs is het café over gegaan naar twee aimabele jonge mannen. Buiten is een ruim terras aan een mooi pleintje met meerdere restaurantjes.de foto’s zijn nog van de jaren 80 en 90

Leuk authentiek café met groot terras en vriendelijke bedieners! Door de nieuwe eigenaren voelt de Druif altijd als een prettige plek voor een koffie, biertje, portie ossenworst of Gin&Tonic:)

Cafe de druif is een mooi bruin cafe in Amsterdam. Het cafe is na de drie fleschjes (1619), karpershoek (1641) en het doktertje (1706) het op vier na oudste cafe van de stad (1863). Het feit dat een aantal jonge mensen het cafe hebben overgenomen en hiermee de bruine kroeg letterlijk in stand houden verdient al een vijf sterren review. Echt fantastisch. De borrel is er ontzettend lekker (van Wees ) maar wel erg duur. Bier smaakt goed, net als de broodjes. Al met al een mooie en rustige plek om even je dag te laten bezinken onder het genot van een borreltje. Sowieso even langs dus ;)

Great spot for drinks. Historic building. Really fun sightseeing (people were playing games outside and hanging). Jasper (the owner?) is the man as well!

De Druif heeft een mooie locatie, rustig en gezellig om daar buiten te zitten bij mooi weer. Totdat je je realiseert wat je voor je geld krijgt. Uitermate smerig drankje in smerige glazen. En kleine glazen die heel mager worden gevuld. Nice try maar nooit meer.

Lekker bier en jenever, goed gesprek over voetbal, maar vooral veel gezelligheid! 5/5 zonder twijfel!
