The man managing the seating was shockingly rude to the woman sitting next to us. He wanted the table cleared for the next couple and aggressively told her she needed to leave immediately. The woman calmly explained that they had already paid and finished their meal, and she was simply waiting for her husband to return from the restroom. There was absolutely no reason for him to speak to her in such a disrespectful and humiliating manner. His behavior showed a complete lack of professionalism, courtesy, and basic human decency. Watching the interaction was uncomfortable and upsetting, and I genuinely felt sorry for the woman. Extremely disappointing.

One of the oldest and most unforgettable places I’ve ever dined at. The moment you step inside, it feels as though time has stood still. The atmosphere is steeped in history—unchanged for centuries. Original tables and chairs, along with countless antiques, make it feel more like a living museum than a restaurant. Each chair is marked with the name of a celebrity who once dined there, dating as far back as the 1600s—or even earlier. We were a party of eight, enjoying a set menu of four courses paired with wine. The service struck the perfect balance—genuinely warm, yet impeccably professional. What made the experience even more special was that the menu wasn’t pre-planned. The chef crafted it spontaneously, making each dish a creative expression of the moment. Every course was a symphony of flavors, offering textures and tastes that danced on the palate like a well-conducted concert. The main dish was an exquisitely cooked duck breast—tender, rich, and accompanied by a sauce that was simply divine. It was an experience I’ll remember for a long time. Thank you for the incredible hospitality, timeless charm, and unforgettable cuisine.

We ended up at this restaurant because the interior looked charming from the outside! We weren't disappointed! From the food to the service, fate led us to this unique place, and we don't regret it at all. We were welcomed with great warmth and professionalism. The meals were absolutely delicious. Thank you!

A very good traditional restaurant

Great place that takes you back in time with a very good menu.

It was on my pending list in Amsterdam, and I really enjoyed it. Interesting design, really good dutch food, great selection of wines and beers, and fantastic staff!

Have tried to post this on trip adviser, but no luck, this restaurant was very good. Food, service, wines all good, an absolute must for visitors to Amsterdam

Excellent in every way. The food was perfect. They worked around my allergies and were extremely caring. We felt like family. We will be back.

The bar has recently re-opened on Wednesdays only - the bar owner was serving and is so friendly and generous. He gave us samples of the Genevas and told us about his meatball-making adventures before giving us free samples for my birthday! Wednesday is meatball day in the Netherlands and they were absolutely delicious! We even managed to get a tour of the restaurant which dates back to 1627, thanks to one of the lovely waiters. Everyone was really friendly, and the whole experience was a perfect, random birthday evening in Amsterdam! I cannot recommend more highly.

Lovely place, wonderful buildings and very friendly staff. Definitely recomend 'Meatball Wednesday'.

Favorite cocktail bar in Amsterdam! Never disappointed here. Don't order the usual cocktails but let yourself be surprised.

Excellent restaurant, la carte proposée est composée de plats exclusivement d'inspiration du chef, excellente carte des vins, un peu réduite mais qui contente toutes les poches et qui présente aussi quelques grands vins français. Le personnel en salle est à la hauteur des attentes, très agréable et disponible. Je retournerais sûrement.
